My wife and I had been intrigued by the idea of getting ourselves e-bikes. We had done some…read more'research', for many months, but quite frankly we had become overwhelmed by the number of manufacturers, features, specifications, etc. etc., and as a result, were unable to make a decision. Long story short my wife ran into Good Vibes Bikes in Rockville (https://www.goodvibesbikes.com/) so we decided to take a look. What a difference! We had the good fortune to be greeted by the manager JAIME MUNOZ whose knowledge of the business was truly impressive! We aren't young and described our needs and use cases, and even though the shop had a bewildering array (100+) different bikes, he immediately directed us to 3 different options which he believed suited our needs. He helped us 'test drive' all three, in their safe parking lot, and we were able to make a quick decision. It was a breath of fresh air! He helped us understand the features and operation of the bike, and patiently answered ALL our questions quickly and direcly... Our bikes will arrive in a few days and we have complete confidence in our decision. If you do take the time to visit their website there is a page (https://www.goodvibesbikes.com/why-buy-from-us) that describes the reasons why buying from them is a sound decision. At first, it seemed like a bit of self-promotion, but after visiting and making the purchase, it all makes sense. These bikes are complex beasts. The idea of two 100lb flat-packed cardboard boxes showing up at our house from some gigantic on-line seller, and spending, likely many hours, assembling them, was more than a little daunting. We consider ourselves reasonably technically and mechanically competent, but having them assembled and tested by professionals before taking them on the road definitely provides a lot of peace of mind... Just the safety considerations alone are worth the price of admission... The additional benefit is they also provide a lot of other services for maintaining and servicing the bikes, which is also a BIG DEAL. I cannot imagine the stress, endless frustrating telephone conversations, and the hassle of trying to fix, or worst case, disassemble and return one of these things to some faceless organization! Bottom line is our bikes will arrive in a few days, and we are very relaxed about our decision. They will assemble and test our bikes and JAIME will give us a call when they are ready for pickup. They will load them onto our bike rack, ready for the nearest trail!! Very impressed with JAIME MUNOZ, and the business model in general. I highly recommend them. If you are in the market for an e-bike, walk in and ask for JAIME, it will make your life a lot easier.

Lucky for me, my salesperson was Patty. I had a lot of questions, and she took time to answer all of them. I found a lovely bike that seemed to meet my needs. I called back in March to check about taking a test ride on my chosen bike. Lo and behold, only 1 in stock in the country (I needed a larger than normal frame!) Theo was right on it. I ordered the bike and it arrived in a timely fashion. When I went to pick it up, Theo suggested a few items that I might wish to purchase. I did not intend to buy them but with his gentle (not pushy) approach, I ended up buying pedals, phone holder, compression pump and a bike rack. Truth be told, informing me about the discounts for new bike purchasers was helping.I hit the Trifecta when I went to pick up my new bike rack. The gentleman who installed my bike rack was Oliver. Not only was he friendly, but he was also super-efficient and knowledgeable about the product. He showed me all of the ways to use the rack.Service can be awful but my experience at Trek Bicycle in Rockville was superb. I forgot to mention the awesome manager, Brenda Ruby. Her store is "well oiled".

The staff was not nice and was worried the bike would be damaged by trying it. He lost interest in talking to us and headed for the next customer. We liked the bike and was going to get it closer to the birthday and when we called they had no assembled bikes and wont do it for few weeks lol. What a joke. I called the Clarendon store and they said they can assemble for us within the hour so we drove there and the staff there was just night and day compared to rockville they helped my son get on even though he couldnt ride it yet and lead him around the store so he can enjoy it first hand. Rockville lost a sale and customer forever. Very sad customer service.

I am not sure if there is a single Yelp entry for the system, Capital Bikeshare. I write to explain…read moremy experience. It is positive to date. I recommend this. The background. I am in my late 50s. I do not live in Washington, D.C. My elderly father does though. So I am in and out all the time, checking up on him (he still lives on his own). I am experienced riding a bicycle in the city. I have owned an e bike (it stopped working, the Van Moof; I loved it when it ran, but build quality was an issue). I also rented regularly in San Francisco when I lived there, and do so intermittently in New York City where I reside now. I have had good experiences and bad, including an issue where part of a bike belonging to the defunct Uber system fell out in an intersection, and the customer service agent told me I was lucky I didn't die and offered me a $2 refund, which I thought was rather rude, prompting me to interact with the General Counsel's office to no avail -- moral of the story is you won't get much by complaining, even if you are in the right and quite polite. All told, I am confident I have taken at least three dozen rides, maybe four dozen rides, with at least three other companies, in two major metropolitan areas besides DC. I also support mass transit and alternative transit. I regularly ride the bus, and I am irked by people who assume I would not do that, because they are projecting their sense of privilege (it is apparent from their disdain they would not ride the bus) on me. I also run commute as much as I can, and I previously did that on a regular basis (three days a week, 4.5 miles, just one way; then MUNI back). That is not to brag about virtue. Don't trust anybody who touts their own morality. In any event, Capital Bikeshare seems to have worked out the problems with this service. They have lots of bikes. That have lots of locations (including one about a quarter mile from where we stay and another on the side of the train station where I need to go). They have an acceptable number of e bikes in the fleet. The maintenance is much better than pre-pandemic with their rivals. (I am opposed to the dockless networks. Those result in the inevitable problem of bikes scattered willy nilly on sidewalks and where they pose a hazard.) The annual fee is reasonable. I am planning three trips in the next two weeks, early in the morning before Metro starts running, to Union Station. If I do as I intend, the amount saved over a motor vehicle ride share will offset the cost. I figure at 4am, the traffic will not be a great hazard (though the drivers out will include a disproportionate number of people who, given the late/early hour, probably pose a risk).

I had been less than enthusiastic since our last tandem bike jaunt in DC left me ragged and looking forward to the end. We rented a tandem bike from a known rental in DC; the bike was rickety and took effort even on the completely flat route we were on. My GF found Pedego and opted for the tandem electric bike. This was a 180 degree experience from the other rental company jn DC. The owner was friendly, attentive, enthusiastic and really made us feel welcome. He knows his bikes gave us a quick run down that made us feel comfortable. The bikes are impeccabley maintained and he's thought of everything including helmets, storage pouch, bike lock, flat tire kit etc. He was even extremely well versed on the route to Mt. Vernon. Every pointer he gave us was spot on. We made it to Mt. Vernon and enjoyed food, history, and culture. The way back was fun since the bike did all the work, electric is the way to go for tandem bike long hauls. I plan on coming back to buy some accessories for my own fat tire e-bikes. This was a memorable experience that was easy and affordable.
