A year ago almost to the date, the clutch on my S-10 died on HWY 38 so I had it towed to my house in Big Bear... This is my work truck and only ride, so I needed help quick but it was a weekend and if you are from around here you known how busy it gets this time of the week in the summer...Mechanics were swamped as they constantly are and this was a couple of days before the remnants of Hurricane Hillary came thought...To avoid extra towing costs, I needed repair from a mobile mechanic in the area and Kyle was the closest to BB. So I gave him a call with not much expectation and he picked up the call. I explained my situation and he told me that even though it was a big job, he'd find the parts and could get to it in the next day or two. He showed up when he said he would and got to it right away. And, though he had to deal with setbacks related to a missing part, he left the job, went to get the part and came right back and stuck with it until he finished the job...in time before the storm hit and I mean literally a couple of hours before it hit - which at that point was close to midnight... He did fantastic work with the clutch and it felt amazingly smooth. To top that off, he actually charged me the time he estimated it would take him even thought he ended up working twice as long b/c of the complications...That's pretty damn honest, if you ask me! A year later, the clutch still feels super smooth.
Just today, Kyle came by again on a short notice. Last night the same truck got stuck far out on Old City Creek road below Running Springs... No spark, no start but I was able to push start since it's a manual tranny. So I texted him this morning and he got back to me a couple of hours later. Now, it's Sunday and apparently no other mechanic is open today. Anyways, he came by shortly after and literally diagnosed the issue within 10 minutes. Wires to the starter were broken. He fixed that quick and saved me again. I'm so grateful to know him. He's very knowledgeable and a super nice guy too. No BS, and again, an honest man who's actually out to help! read more
