This place is honest and their guys are hard workers and honest.. Their mechanic Carlos is top notch and thank you to my tow truck driver Sebastian.. Thank You Don's Towing read more

They go above and beyond. For context, I have a family cabin in GVL (not a full time resident) and I'm a girl who doesn't know much about cars or how to fix them. I requested service through AAA and Sebastian came out and arrived even sooner than the estimated hour wait (it's the mountains, an hour in itself isn't a bad wait tbh) by about 15 or 20 mins, which was a pleasant surprise. Sebastian was super kind and respectful, fast and efficient, and was very helpful. I just needed to fill my tires with air because they were getting lower than I was comfortable with driving on the mountain roads. He filled my tires, and when I asked if he thought I should replace my tires soon because they look a bit worn, he gave an honest and informative answer that they were fine for a while, although because I have front wheel drive I should have them rotated to the back when I get back home. I asked if he wouldn't mind checking my oil while he was here too and he was happy to. Said it looked good, nothing to worry about there. And he even checked my coolant and break fluid, which he said were a little low and should be addressed when I get home to OC. As always AAA is a great value and I don't use it often but I'm extremely glad I didn't have to go to a gas station and figure out how to use an air pump myself (it would've been a disaster). Sebastian was incredible and now I know exactly who to call whenever I need car services when I'm in the mountains. He's respectful, honest, kind, and helpful so I'm def a loyal customer from here on out. Thank you guys! read more

Service requested was awesome, tow arrived right away. We requested through AAA, AAA estimated 45 minutes, Don's guy arrived in 15! Quality of service is excellent, all the guys there know what they are talking about. Value was a God sent. read more

The Community is most blessed to have them here servicing Running Springs & surrounding Areas (Big Bear & Lake Arrowhead) etc. I've always felt pricing was fair & they pay attention to quality, (Not the cheap Brake Pads, batteries, tires or other common parts) they know there stuff & what's good & what's Junk, they always turn the Brake Drums(or disk) that is very important on mountain Roads. My Bank teller one day couldn't of endorsed them more as she went on & on how much she liked them & they were her "go to place" she's lived up here much longer than I, who've only been here bought 16 months I have used them in the past, even for a broken Ring & pinion on my jeep back in the year 2000 & they knew how to do that, & LOVE WORKING ON JEEPS !!! (Owners son owns one) This Family owned business is now on 2nd generation, (it's there life) very experienced & qualified !!! read more

AAA automatically refers calls to them for roadside service in Loma LInda, REdlands, Ca. area. Horrible service. They are quick to tell you how much it is going to cost to do any repairs to get the car in gear, steering wheel unlocked, etc. Out of pocket costs $140 if mechanic needed. No towing service provided I would have to call someone different. WHY is AAA using - not helpful. I will complain to AAA and recommend they not use in future. Have never had an issue with AAA in past, always very good service within a reasonable response time. Being a senior and getting stuck and then being told it may cost be $140 is VERY STRESSful. Not happy at all with AAA and definitely do not recommend this particular Garage. read more

Great service, people willing to help. When my car would not start, they came to the house, took my car on the platform to their shop and brought it back fixed the next day. The charges were reasonable. I am most grateful! read more

If I could give 10 stars, I would. Don's Auto in Running Springs is nothing short of a MIRACLE WORKER operation, and my two angels--Wendy and Davey--deserve a medal, a trophy, and a vacation for the way they saved my sanity (and my Tesla) during a recent hiking mishap. Picture this: I'm on a remote trail near Lake Arrowhead, enjoying the peace of nature, until I return to my Tesla Model S and realize I've locked myself out. AGAIN. Fifth time. No key fob (left it inside), no phone access (Tesla wouldn't ping the car or respond to the mobile app), and my battery was running low. Panic level: DEFCON 1. AAA tried routing me to someone in Big Bear--TWO HOURS AWAY. That made zero sense. I told them I needed Don's Auto. I'd worked with them before, and they were amazing. AAA said they couldn't reassign the call... but guess who was already on it behind the scenes? WENDY. The superstar switchboard liaison/account exec/customer whisperer! She'd already called AAA, advocating for me, knowing my phone was dying. She kept me calm, reassured me, and basically did all the coordinating magic to make things happen. I don't know how she did it, but I'll never forget her voice when she said, "We've got you." Enter DAVEY - the hero in a truck. Within 30 minutes, he pulled up, smiled like everything was no big deal, and with a specialized tool, gently opened my window and got the door unlocked. Just like that, I had access to my car again. No damage, no drama, just pure, professional, competent service. If you own a Tesla (or any car), live in the mountains, or just want honest, reliable, kind-hearted pros, Don's Auto in Running Springs is the only name you need to know. Whether it's towing, lockouts, or just people who treat you like family, this crew is golden. THANK YOU Wendy and Davey -- you're my mountain angels! read more

Had a tire emergency on Saturday and called AAA to have it towed to Dons Garage. Bill was amazing and said to give him an hour and we will be on our way. Fast friendly and saved our weekend! Thanks to all the guys at the shop! read more

While on the mountain I needed my car battery replaced. I called Don's on a whim and was delighted by my experience with them. The staff were all pleasant, helpful and efficient. On a busy winter weekend they were able to quickly send someone to me, get my car jumped and over to their repair shop. My car requires a somewhat uncommon battery which Don's had no problem replacing in only a few hours for a fair price. If I ever have car trouble again while on the mountain I will be calling Don's. read more

BEWARE!!! Don's Garage is NOT AAA rated. It's no wonder, they would NEVER qualify or pass. My experience with their garage was HORRIBLE!!! I was charged an additional $200.00 restocking fee for a part that was ordered, by Don Jr, and NOT needed. He didn't bother to check-out the car first, just ordered the part??? WTF! He won't show me proof that the part was ever delivered. Maybe he'll be able to prove it to the judge. I would rather not go to court but it's all about the principle of the matter. read more

'Don's Garage' does as they please with your car without notifying you about work to be done FIRST. They take advantage of their customers, especially if you live in Lake Arrowhead. Don Jr. has a crass, crude, and bad attitude. He has no regard or respect for his customers. All he see's are $$$. It's no wonder all the 'One-Star' ratings are so prevalent. Do yourselves a favor, steer clear of this dive! read more

I can't say enough about how wonderful Bill and Sebastian from Don's towing are. We had a major mechanical issue on a camping trip in Lake Arrowhead this weekend. AAA came to tow our truck and Bill quickly helped us get our travel trailer towed home too! They were so fast, polite and great problem solvers. If you need supplies, repair or a tow give these guys a chance. read more

Don's Garage - Towing my Ford F350 home from camping - Towing Near Me - Running Springs, California

Unprofessional, made me wait two whole weeks to bring my truck in. Then when it was time and we were going through what needed to get done, they proceeded to tell me finally that they don't want to work. They wasted 2 whole weeks of my time, and couldn't care less. I could've taken it to another shop and had it done in that time, or at least getting worked on. I DONT RECOMMEND ONE SINGLE MECHANIC IN THE SAN BERNARDINO MOUNTAINS TAKE YOUR CAR DOWN THE MOUNTAIN. All I wanted to do was support local. Take your car anywhere else but here. They will waste your time. It's sad that not one shop on the mountain is reputable. read more

I just want to start by saying I don't throw around 1 star reviews easily. It takes a lot. I brought my husbands truck here from big bear because a family member highly recommended Don who I guess usually runs a great and professional shop. The timing belt had snapped and we needed a new motor. I paid a staggering 2500 dollars to this shop in labor. 2 minutes after driving my truck ifff of this property every censor was going off, it wouldn't drive straight. There truck was detecting something wrong with the motor and turning of the 4x4. When we took the truck back to the shop to tell them the man working shrugged and said they never touched any censors and he didn't know what to tell my husband. Really? This is how you treat your customers who just spent over 2 grand here? Your mechanics took everything apart to put that motor in, of course you touched the censors!! They said they would get to looking at my truck when they could. My truck was brought back to showtime collision down the street where my brother works for them to figure it out where Their mechanics worked really hard to get these issues fixed. I was told the alignment on my truck was messed up from being taken apart to put the motor in. You guys test drive your vehicles you fix and gave this back to us like this?? And to gaslight your customers into thinking you have no idea how these problems could have occurred instead of reassuring them you would help figure it out? Horrible. I've never been treated so badly by a mechanic in my life. The people who referred me here are embarrassed. I just wanted to let Don know that not only were we treated so poorly by your shop but the problems my family is still feeling from this. My husband commutes for work and 3 weeks later still has no vehicle to get to work, a much better mechanic shop down the road still can't figure out how to fix some of the mess this shop caused on my truck. read more

My husbands car ended up over heating on the way up to big bear on the 330, he pulled into a turn out and called AAA at 3:30pm and the agent said Don's towing would be there at by 5:30pm. At about 6:30pm my husband received a call from the office worker at Dons towing (she was the only nice experience my husband had) she warned my husband they could only take him to the bottom of the mountain (odd but okay). Two hours later at 8:45pm my husband and son were picked up. Once down the hill the driver proceeded to try and drop my husband and young son off in cul de sac area by a chevron which was a huge homeless encampment (by this time it's 9:30pm). My husband called AAA and had a second tow truck pick him up and the driver of that company confirmed that Don's towing prefers to drop people off in this encampment area!!!! I know Big Bear is small and there isn't much option for towing. I'm not even upset that they couldn't take them home it's the fact that in the middle of the night a driver would even think to drop people off in that area!! read more

I had a flat tire on my trip in Running Springs, I called AAA and the service man came out to put my spare on so I can drive to Dons to get my tire patched up. I made it home safely and I've driven over 200mi on the patched tire it's still in great shape!! Thank you again!! read more

I got a flat tire in Running Springs....no problem...I called AAA to replace it with a full-sized, brand new spare tire. No problem..He replaced the tire and I took off down the hill.. A few minutes later, there was a sound coming from an area beneath the floor of the car. Long story short, I was able to get down off the mountain and limp over to a tire store. It was there that I learned that the AAA technician did not tighten the lug nuts.. Pretty simple for a AAA technician, right? As a result of this mistake, I ended up with a car that was out of alignment. I called Don's garage and explained what had happened. The manager seemed more than happy to refund the cost of my repair. Well.....I went there today to collect my reimbursement. The owner, Don, immediately took out his wallet to refund my money. Then he went on to blame my lug nuts and my rims for being the problem.. I wish that he had accepted responsibility and left it at that. I would not have left a negative review if he had. read more

Attempted to follow up with manager via telephone. He was very rude, insulting, and argumentative. The epitome of what consumer advocate Clark Howard would call "Customer No-Service." I wish it was possible to give a review of negative stars. This is the worst treatment I have received from any business in many years, and I want you ALL to know it! Blew out 2 tires on the mountain on a Monday at 530pm, trying to get back to San Diego. All shops were either closed, not willing to help because of distance, or just gave me the runarounds. Dons auto came through in a clutch situation, as I was stuck by snow valley with my son and pregnant wife. Juan picked us up, dropped us off at a hotel, and took my truck to dons garage. Even though I had to wait til the morning, the assurance and professionalism they showed really took a huge weight of anxiety off my shoulders. Thank you all at Dons Garage! read more

We were at Lake Gregory and my Toyota Highlander was broken into by breaking the driver side window, all while the kids and I were only a few feet away! They stole my wallet and my friends car keys. we drove up from Los Angeles in two vehicles hoping to have a peaceful getaway from the Covid Chaos with our kids. My friends vehicle who's keys were stolen was parked in our AirBNB in an uphill VERY NARROW driveway. Dons Towing was super professional and believe me when I say this, they know what they're doing! I still can't believe how our tow guy (sorry forgot name) was able to pull my girlfriends Ford Explorer out! He was so courteous and reassuring. I appreciate Dons Towing company so much. I know tow trucks are limited up their, and they responded to us last minute all the way from Running Springs to Crestline. Thanks so much you guys. read more

Took the day off work to snowboard on my birthday, and ended up with a smoking engine in running springs. The other auto shop in town opened at 730am, but told me they couldn't look at my car until Thursday (it was Tuesday at 8am). So I went to Dons and waited until they opened at 9am. Der helped me out right away, diagnosed the problem and replaced a part from Napa auto parts down the block. The work took 30 minutes, and they charged me 1/2 the hourly labor rate, which many mechanics would have rounded up to the next hour. I was back on the road by 930am and enjoying my day off when I was certain the whole day would be a bust. It was a relatively easy fix, but when you make quick work, charge reasonably, and save a guy trying to enjoy a day away from the rat race on their birthday, you get 5 stars. Thanks Der! read more

My 2014 Ford Flex wouldn't start after a weekend in Green Valley Lake. I called AAA and they sent John from Don's Garage. The team there did an excellent job diagnosing a really funky, unusual problem. They even went down the mountain to pick up a part so they could get my car back quicker. Everyone was terrific, but I want to mention drivers John and Bill really went above and beyond to help, keep me informed along the way, and make sure the car was safe and ready to roll when I got it back. I know my go-to place now! read more

Take your business elsewhere. I'm a local, was told they could change my run-flat tires on my BMW. I brought in my car to have tires changed, they took my wheels off, their tire machine was broken down, and they could not complete the job. Action Auto had to. To add insult to injury, they had the nerve to charge me $20 to "patch" a run-flat tire (made specifically to drive on a flat for ~50 miles) for a job they couldn't complete. Skip the crooks and go to Action Auto instead. read more

So grateful for Don and Bill the road angels. These guys did everything they could to help me and my family get safely off of the highway after driving over a falling rock and blowing out our engine on a busy and snowy Saturday morning. AAA Sent them a request for towing because fan belt broke going up highway 330 around 6:30 pm 12 miles from their shop in a storm and dispatcher Wendy said they weren't able to tow me until the next morning she told me this 8:45pm then there driver called me and asked where I was then told me there's a big storm and I would have to call AAA back for another company because they couldn't handle it!!! So Don's garage and towing should sell their trucks and get out of the towing business!!! I'm still waiting for a tow truck and it's 2:30am in the morning and around 20 degrees outside I'm just lucky I have a sleeping bag with me so I don't freeze to death!!! So if your looking for a tow don't look here!!! If I could give no stars I would but I have to give one but they really deserve no stars!!! read more

Terrible experience!! At 5:30 am, coming down a snowy, icy mountain, i got a flat tire and my snow chain wrapped around my rim and axle. I was stuck in the road. I called aaa and she said since this is an emergency, we will expedite the service. Luckily i had bolt cutters and was able tk cut the chain and move a bit further off the road. No way to change a tire on a hill in the snow. I waites until 10:30 am and called for an update, she said "keep waiting, the tow company will call you when they have an estimates time of arrival." That phone call never came. 9 hours later, a friend came and was able to pull me down the mountain to a flat area so we could deal with this. In the meantime, my truck ran out of gas and it was 19 degrees out, i was freezing. I called and was told that the tow company cancelled the service at 10:00 am. I had never spoken to the tow company, why would they do this? No answers. AAA did not care. I called at 10:30 am, why was the cancellation not seen then? 9 hours!!!! No one checked on me. I cant tell you how dissapointed I am. Supervisor said "sorry, we will look into this." I can guarantee that never happened. Garbage service. I deserve a year of payments reimbursed since it was all for nothing. read more

AAA called Don's towing after I hit a rock on Highway 330 taking out two tires. The driver towed me 11 miles, dropped me at night in a parking lot and told me to call another tow truck. This place is horrible! They has me waiting for over 3 hours on the side of the road. Then when Bill showed up he acted like he didn't want to tow my car down the mountain. Bill told me that he was going to put my car on the truck. So I figured we could just meet him down the mountain at the shop we agreed on. When I got down the mountain I got a call from Wendy telling me that they weren't going to tow my car because the driver didn't have my keys. There wasn't any reason the driver would need my keys. My cars stick so it doesn't need to be turned on to go into gear. Also the driver could of called me before I was down the mountain to ask me for the keys but he didn't! This place is horrible an I wouldn't recommend them at all. Because of them my car was left on the side of the road unlocked with all my work tools inside. After fifteen years, I finally did it: locked my keys in the trunk of my 2008 BMW in Lake Arrowhead, an hour and twenty minutes away from the spare key at my house in Pasadena. Sebastian from Don's tried every trick in the book to unlock it, and even called a few other people, including a local locksmith, to see if anyone else could come up with a suggestion. We were finally able to get ahold of BMW in Riverside and were told that because of the age of the vehicle they couldn't send a remote signal to open the doors and the only option would be to tow it to their dealership or back to a dealer in Pasadena. I called my saintlike wife, who heroically cancelled a hair color appointment to drive from Pasadena with the extra key, and Sebastian felt almost as bad as I did. He could not have tried harder or been more sympathetic. It was greatly appreciated. read more
