The tow truck driver showed up to help me just to see my shirt and car has different political beliefs than him and he yells at me F*** You calls me racist and leaves me stranded. I paid a $75 dollar deposit for there service just to be stranded and it's non refundable. Got pictures of him getting gas after leaving me behind! The receptionist, Roxanne is rude and condescending and doesn't know how to do her job. I dropped my vehicle off the day before 4th of July on a Thursday. And when I called on a Monday, I was told that she has no idea what I was talking about in that my vehicle wasn't there. So naturally, I went into a panic attack. It became a upset and then she started yelling at me. And said, ma'am, you don't have to yell at me when I was clearly was not yelling at her, but was just upset. And then finally some gentleman jumped on the phone and said, no, ma'am, I'm sorry it's a misunderstanding. Your vehicle is here. We're going to get to it later this afternoon. Well, well, then, when I called later that afternoon, 3 times she was clearly screening my calls because she was not answering the phone yet when I called on another person's phone a friend of mine. All of a sudden, she answered.. also, my roomate also went in there during the day to inquire about any progress. And she was blatantly rude to him when he asked what what the progress was, or if they had gotten to it yet, and she looks over at him while on the phone on hold and says, no, with a scowl on her face. The mechanics were carrying an understanding that business would be a lot better off if they were to find someone else to run the front. I will never go there again until she's gone! read more

My experience with this company was nothing but a waste of time. Terrible phone service, the lady that answered the phone was rude, not helpful and rushing us off the phone. We were told we would be getting a tow truck within 15-20 minutes. 40 minutes later we are told they do not have any available. They did not help us resolve the issue. Long story short, do not use them (for towing or anything)- they are unreliable, and their customer service is garbage and they will argue with you and place the burden and blame on you because of their short staff/and vehicles. There is a very good reason why the overall rating is low for these guys. I called AAA to schedule for a future pickup, 4 days ago. AAA defaulted to these guys and they reassured that my vehicle will be picked up. I called up early the day of the schedule, just to confirm because I have not heard a thing from them and I was curious, and the lady on the other line was rude and unprofessional. She stated that there were no guarantees of any service, even if scheduled ahead of time for days, and I was out of luck! So, you are telling me, that with prior notice for days, they can't assign a tow truck for this job which may take 45 minutes to complete since they are so limited? Wow. I asked why they even are associated with AAA if they cannot honor the service- the excuse was that they have limited tow trucks. Well- that is not the customer's fault. That is the company's problem, even if it is an emergency or when scheduling for days. So, if that is the case, again, why are they tied to AAA since AAA is an emergency towing service? So if a person is stranded etc- guess what? you are out of luck- sorry. At any case, I tried to explain this to the rude customer service person- I was talked over, she patronized me and made a pun that I am a flatlander (um, no, full time and well aware of the limited resources on the mountain and "mountain time") and she just would not get why their company is the one at fault because they are unable to honor emergency tow or scheduled service. Since they cannot honor emergency towing service that they are listed and advertised for, then take your company off of AAA listing! But that went on deaf ears. I ended up calling Route 66 towing- excellent service- even got a guy to go to my work within 10 minutes, picked up my key to go and get my car. Ironic- but the gentlemen told me that other customers complained about Mountain towing as well- so they are well known for their unprofessionalism. We, as some LA tourists took a 2WD with wrong size cables up to the iciest, narrowest, and hilly roads. We were expecting to be ridiculed for our obliviousness when we called for help lol. However, Roxanne and Ryan made us feel like we weren't complete dumba**** even though we were!! I'm sure they get these tourists stuck needing help all the time yet Roxanne listened to our situation and was more than happy to help and accommodate us. Ryan the driver was so friendly and a fellow worker joined the party to talk and joke with us while our car was getting situated. Ryan knew what he was doing and was very professional and patient thank you! He got a hefty tip for his work, don't forget to tip your drivers! Despite these bad reviews, just be courteous and don't expect them to come to you asap as many people also need help, so just be patient and they will eventually bless you with their presence. read more

Mountain Auto Service is an extremely unethical auto repair shop that should be avoided at all costs. My wife and I brought our car to Mountain Auto Service to address a check-engine light issue and payed for multiple recommended repairs, none of which resolved the light. My main issue, however, is that they damaged our car during our last repair and tried to cover it up, even removing parts of our car. They agreed to fix it until they got an estimate for the repairs and then denied responsibility for the damage and refused to fix it. One employee, Andy, attributed the damages to the owner, Mark, explaining that he is visually impaired and test-driving the cars but then claimed he never said that. Due to their dishonesty, we don't know exactly what they did that led to the damage and missing parts. I highly recommend staying far away from Mountain Auto Service. read more

Mountain Towing absolutely came through for me this morning! It was a very frustrating morning of not being able to leave my driveway and I thought my whole weekend was ruined. But the phone operator at Mountain Towing was so sweet, friendly, helpful, and really really understanding. She was able to get a technician out to me as soon as possible and would remember who I was whenever I would check in with her. Jeremy, the technician, got here so quickly and was calm and collected. He was confident he would be able to move the car blocking my driveway and before I knew it, I was able to drive out! He didn't even have to tow it, he just pushed it forward pretty much. I placed a call to AAA approximately 7 AM. Had a window of 50 minutes, That quickly changed over two hours!. here I sit over three hours later still waiting. Companies like this that actually have competition like everyone does down the mountain would not last a single day in business. The absolute worst!!! My daughter left her Prius at my place while she was traveling and it ended up needing a jump. We contacted AAA on a Monday afternoon and they said the company would be out within an hour. 2 hours later we get a call from Mountain Towing say they could not make it and to try back in the AM. The next morning the technician came out to jump the car and could not get it started with the jumper pack he had so ended up using his car battery. I was half-paying attention as i was on a call but my lady said she smelled smoke. The car ended up stating so I thought nothing of her comment and told her to drive the car around for awhile to make sure it held the charge. 15 minutes later she calls me from Blue Jay saying the car could not go up a hill as it was having some strange electrical issues. I was confused on how this could even be possible given it was running but thought..."it's a Prius so who knows." We then had to have the car towed to Toyota of San Bernardino at a cost of 170.00. I assumed this was an issue with the car so begrudgingly paid. After the car was inspected we received a call from the service manager saying the car had been "Cross-Jumped" which is basically attaching the jumper cables backwards. Given we had no cables and only had it jumped by Mountain Towing I contacted AAA to seek a resolution. I had to pay another 435.00 for the car to be repaired and then opened a damage claim with AAA. During the process i was told i needed to contact Mountain Towing and inform them of the situation (which i thought was rather odd since AAA hired them). The manager of Mountain Towing could not been more or a jerk and basically said "we don't care about your issue and you need to take it up with AAA." I passed this info along to AAA and would later find out that not only is this company refusing to take ANY responsibility (it's literally impossible this problem was not caused by them) for the damage, the technician lied about jumping the car with his own car battery! The only problem with this lie is...we have VIDEO of the technician doing exactly what he said he did NOT do...cross-jump work his own car. read more

They patiently helped me get my personal belongings out of my car and even got the battery to work so I could open the Trunk with my Key. Don't ever use this place, we didn't even choose. We called AAA and they sent them. The worst experience, horrible service. Horrible attitudes, they talk shit, make threats about what they're going to do to your car. Our car stalled out on the hill, they were supposed to tow it to a service department at a Chevy dealer than they didn't want to drop it off, than said "I'll tow this shit back up the hill I don't care". Than you call the tow yard that they took it back too (their tow yard) and they wanna charge for 3 trips and a overnight stay. They have a attitude on the phone. If I could give them no stars I would. Don't ever use this place if you have the choice and AAA should drop them from any service. Very grateful they were able to come out to change my daughters flat tire however, we had to have AAA contact them to wake the driver up twice. After about an hour and a half, the tow truck came and the driver put on the spare tire. As we began to drive away, the driver let us know that the spare was flat but he wasn't able to do anything about it. Left us stuck with a flat spare tire on the car. read more

This is an honest review of an experience with this company. Due to an accident where the vehicle was completely wrecked in July 2018, this is the company that AAA sent to remove the vehicle. We arranged to have the vehicle towed back home the following week. It was towed back on a flatbed truck since it was completely wrecked. It was towed back late at night, so the damage to the home was not discovered until the following morning. The next morning, we discovered that the hitch of the truck was actually protruding through the bedroom wall. We took pictures of the damage and contacted the company. They assured us that the owner would take a look at them and get back to us in a timely manner. They never followed up with us concerning the matter. Then when we followed up with them, they refused to take any responsibility for the damage to the house. They claimed that their management has since changed and that they no longer employed the tow truck driver from that night. This is definitely not good business practice and, with all of these consistently bad reviews, they should not be endorsed by AAA. If you are ever in need of service from AAA in this mountain area, I recommend refusing any service provided from Mountain Auto Service & Towing. read more

I was left stranded for 3 hours. can't speak for this companies auto service but AAA sent this companies tow truck to help me and it was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. I waited an hour, that was ok, the young had to leave to get another truck but not before he throw the biggest Vulgar language tantrum making me feel like it was my fault his truck broke and he was gone for over an hour. I was alone in a strange dark place. The original call was 7pm I was not on the road tell 11pm. Avoid this business at all cost. Completely unprofessional and will look for any reason to avoid responsibility if anything bad happens. A truck became stuck on my property. Unfortunately, the truck owners called Mountain Auto Service and Towing. Juan showed up and really struggled with how to get the truck out. At one point, he was pulling it backwards with the front wheels turned all the way to the right, which caused the truck's front end to drop over the side of the hill. No amount of suggesting he might want to straighten the front wheels would help. It was trial and error for 45 minutes before Juan was able to pull the truck out. Juan eventually did straighten the front wheels out but only after a lot of hill erosion took place. He really resisted any suggestions, at one point telling me he really didn't care about my property. With all the trials and mistakes, Juan at one point ran the cable up against my front gate and bent it. My gate now no longer functions like it use to, but the company said that damage was not their problem. I was only able to talk to the woman that answers the phone as no one will call me back on this. And the woman said I should not have been offering any suggestions as I am not a tow truck operator. Fair enough, but I do know which way a truck moves if it is pulled backwards with the front wheels turned. This company is completely unprofessional. They also broke the side step off the truck they were trying to pull up the hill. Mistakes happen but being unresponsive is unprofessional. Find a better towing company. read more

Mountain Towing never showed up. I called them and no one answered the phone. I left a message and did not receive a call back. They are the only choice in the Lake Arrowhead area, and they SUCK! Thank you, thank you, thank you. We had a very last minute tow for a classic car that originally was supposed to be towed directly to our house in Lake Arrowhead. Two hours away from delivery we found out the driver refused to drive up the mountain to make the delivery as was previously agreed upon. He claimed that large trucks like his wouldn't make it up the mountain. Clearly, has never seen the myriad of trucks for Stater Bros and every other CalTrans large sized vehicle make the trip. Thank God for Mountain Auto Service. They came recommended from all the other garages in the area and each garage touted that this business was considered the expert in classic cars. They came DOWN the mountain and picked up our classic truck in less than an hour and got it back up to our house. Tony was professional, fast, and has a great appreciation for classic trucks! Blizzard weekend 2 weeks ago in Big Bear and my friend's snow chains cut his breakline. Break fluid was leaking and needless to say, his car was stuck at a gas station. The owner's daughter Erin came driving out to look for us Monday (since we drove back since they weren't towing cars off the moutain that weekend) to pick up the keys to have it towed the next day. In the process, my car got a flat tire and we had Dale come help us with the flat. These were long, exhausting hours for them (not to mention AAA had so many people in line for service) and they sincerely showed they cared in a scary, stressful time for us. Thankfully I've never had to use their services...but they almost caused me to need a tow truck...and an ambulance tonight when the driver of one of their trucks blew through the stop sign coming up waters at crest forest doing about 40 MPH...I was in the intersection turning left onto waters from Nardi and he had to slam on his brakes and I had to step on the gas to get out of the way of a possibly horrible incident.
