What an absolute headache this company has been since the governor announced only necessary travel to the islands. AND Maui is now on 21 day lockdown. Does KBM care? No. They still expect us to come and stay in our room putting locals and ourselves in harm's way. I wasn't even asking for a refund. I just wanted to reschedule when the island would be fully open and they refused to even reschedule us. We had a group of 20 coming to stay in Maui with us to celebrate our 10 years of marriage and ALL have been able to reschedule/refund their trips but not us. Thanks to KBM! The room was amazing --- clean, lots of space, and an amazing view. That must have been why we were called while we were having dinner one night to ask if they could show our rental to some potential buyers. We had just arrived the night before and hadn't put our personal items into secure areas, so they were nice enough to cancel the viewing appointment, but it's not what you'd like to be getting surprise phone calls about while on vacation. I also must not have read the website well enough; I assumed that you could use the beach there. You can't; it's covered in cement or coral or something, and it's like that for quite a ways in both directions. If you walk about a quarter mile down the coast, there's a place to go to the beach, but only if you don't mind getting sandblasted the entire time --- this is a very windy area, and while I enjoy a good microdermabrasion treatment as much as the next girl my kids and my corneas were not as appreciative. We spent most of our time here driving around, looking for a good place to go the beach. The pool is between the two towers of the the complex, so it funnels the wind even more, making a pool visit not much fun. This is a great complex for adults looking for a room with a view and nothing to do. read more

When my Husband was booked last minute to fly out to Maui, I immediately jumped on the opportunity to extend his trip into a Family vacation. KBM was incredibly helpful in narrowing down choices that fit our needs and budget, and magically found us a condo that was only two units away from where my Husband had been staying for work. As a Family, we tend to only book Vacation Rentals instead of Hotels now, and I found KBM to be one of the most informative and proactive in communicating what to expect, where to find what I needed, and whom to contact if I had any questions. I even received a phone call shortly after I landed to notify me our unit was available for early check in! The property itself was immaculate, spacious, and was fully equipped with everything you need...it was truly the perfect spot for our Family. The rental unit was clearly owned by a Family as well, and it was awesome to have all the toys and floats we needed to have a great time swimming in the Bay and pools on site. We are currently staying at Honua Kai in Kaanapali through KBM rentals and it has not been a pleasant stay to say the least. We rented room 729 Konea building, a 3 bedroom unit with ocean views throughout. Now I'll start by saying, KBM has been great to work with from booking to our arrival. They send out almost weekly then daily reminders leading up to your departure date. We also got a free car rental with our week stay and there's not one staff member who did not provide excellent service and communication. Without the review of the unit, I could easily rate KBM 4 stars for their follow through and commitment to excellence. And the unit itself, in appearance is breathtaking. Pictures does not do it justice. Sooo...with that said, I don't know if it's because of the unit we are staying in or due to renting through KBM but it's been a disaster. And I debated whether this review reflects KBM or Honua Kai so since I didn't book through the resort, I think it is fair to post directly on KBM's page. Prior to our arrival, KBM let me know that our dishwasher in the unit is not working and they will send maintenance to replace an entirely new one first thing in the morning at 930a, which worked for us since we are on California time and so it wouldn't feel that early. Maintenance didn't show up until after noon. In addition to the dishwasher not working, our dryer had issues, the smaller oven did not work, and our microwave was also inoperative, which apparently, they knew about since there is a temporary replacement on the counter. This resort was a bit of a splurge for my family and so call me crazy, but if one of the selling points to stay at this condo is the gorgeous, stellar Viking kitchen appliances then I expect them to be in working condition. Housekeeping also didn't do the best job. There were chunks of dust balls left on the carpet. And there weren't any children's pool/beach toys as mentioned on the KBM page. Also, if you're planning on cooking, be prepared not only for the faulty kitchen appliances but also limited cookware. Now at this point, I was trying to keep things light and chipper since I felt very responsible for my family's vacation success since I did the booking. So I tried to play it off as all normal wear and tear. The next day, however, TMI disclaimer, after my 5 year old son went potty, the toilet overflowed!!! Yes, overflowed! Luckily, my uncle was able to stop the overflow, otherwise it could have spread out to the hallways. The thought of it just makes me cringe with disgust. Ok, here's where KBM redeemed themselves...through excellent customer service and communication. Krisy sent us personnel to de-sanitize the restroom, remove the dirty towels and give us a new set, she also sent housekeeping back up to vacuum the carpet and mop the floors, a brand new, unopened pool toy set and a new pot since we only had a small pot and extra large pot with nothing in between. And she scheduled for replacement on the washer and dryer the following day. Lastly, we were left a small gift card to Duke's restaurant for our troubles. I'm appreciative but I don't know if $150 completely makes up for the fiasco we've had to overcome during this stay. Oh, one more note to mention on the unit, every time you turn on the fan in the living room, it trips the circuit breaker so the TV turns off so you'll have to switch it back through the power box. And the light switches do not work in the rooms so you'll have to just manually turn the knobs. Not a biggie but when you're paying nearly 1K a night after tax...you expect things to be functional. So I'll end it with this, avoid unit 729. But I think KBM management is doing a fine job with the inventory they are given. read more

My wife worked hard to coordinate a special vacation for 20 family members. Maria T from KBM Maui was not forthcoming about the construction we endured during our trip. We never had the option to change our reservation because she chose not to tell us about it. As a disabled person, I spent alot of time in the room watching TV. Couldn't sit on the deck during the day due to noise and construction. Maria knew I was disabled, she didn't seem to care at all. Use caution booking with this company. read more

KBM Hawaii is dishonest, they steal your personal belongings and they promise the moon but deliver cow pies. Would strongly caution all home owners to avoid this company. My wife and I used this company for two months and they had abysmal cleaning services and took our luxury personal linen twice without any reimbursement. In addition, they promised to care for condo issues which is their job as a property management company and because we live 2,000 miles away; however, they never took care of the problems so we had to hire another third party to fix these issues that they could have done. I was a little nervous at first booking for 2 reasons: Covid situation and their newer Kanapalli shores listing. However I booked with them based on reviews and flexibility to cancel due to Covid. We stayed at their kanapali location for 14 days and been very happy. First expectation was clear that I had to pay for parking and that's it. The room has tons of amenities that they included that would be extra at most places. Dishwasher and washing machine detergent, brand new baby high chair, vacuum etc. They do not charge extra to swap out sheets and towels. You have to pay extra for a full cleaning if needed. I had issue with A/c one day and they were quick to get hotel engaged to come out and check it out. They were always prompt with emails or phone calls and are open 7 days a week. Beds were very comfortable and ocean views from balcony and master bedroom will be missed. Great job KBM team ! We would definitely return again ! read more

Our visit to Maui was perfect, thanks to KBM Hawaii. Our room was just as pictured; had everything we could need and more! The view from HK 504 was breathtaking! Check-in and check-out was effortless. The communication was great during our stay. They even delivered a replacement coffee pot within a couple hours of requesting one. Most importantly, when our flight home was delayed, they allowed for a late-check out. This was necessary as we were traveling with 4 small children. They took care of us; it was much appreciated! Had a perfect experience with KBM from start to finish! They were super great at communicating with me throughout the trip and even sent me emails and called me a few days prior to our trip to go over everything! Our unit in Honua Kai was exactly as pictured... super clean with everything we would possibly need provided inside the unit. They even left us some macadamia nut chocolate as a welcome gift! A few times during our stay we had to contact them to fix the air conditioner or come save one of our guests when he accidentally locked ourselves out and they were super responsive and helped solve our problems super fast. We stayed at one their properties on the island for a week and overall it was a pleasant experience. The unit we leased out was clean and ready with all amenities needed. We were visiting with our 1 yr old and needed a high chair. Reached out to KBM and they delivered a brand new booster chair within few hours. A great location of the property when it comes to beach access and walk down to restaurants. The entrance to the resort building is pleasing with valet parking available. Now comes the interesting review of access to the 6th floor condo with trash right outside of the elevator and hallway carpets dark and dirty. Condo was clean and equipped well but as we retired to sleep, noted that mattresses are old and worn with deep sinking pockets that made our sleep worst with lower back aches as we got up. It was a regular feature to be waking up with discomfort in the lower back for all family members. Showers appeared clean but noted grouting to be dark in many places as if it was not maintained and mold deposits in shower space and rusted ceilings in bathroom. Kitchen utensils, specially cups were heavily stained and had to buy our own. Wish the owner/management pays attention to the above provided feedback. Townhome T-14 was absolutely perfect for our Christmas getaway in Park City! The unit had four bedrooms and four bathrooms and was perfect for our family of 5. The hill right outside the back patio is perfect for sled rides as well! Everything was extremely clean, ample amount of linens, kitchen was fully stocked with dishes and supplies and the beds were very comfortable. The only feedback I would have is to invest in softer sheets and re-label the thermostat that heats up the master and bunk rooms to indicate such. The location was perfect and loved the ski room downstairs with all of the storage space! We could've packed a lot of us clothes since it comes with a washer and dryer as well!! We absolutely look forward to staying here again! We got very lucky and possibly because we booked last minute but got an amazing rate on this unit!! Great stay at 236 HKH! The condo was amazing and we even got a free car rental during our 2 week stay in mid November. I would absolutely book with KBM again as they were responsive to the requests and helped to fix some issues with a clogged toilet that arose during our stay. The condo was beautiful and clean and had all the amenities for a family of four. We especially appreciated the beach chairs and boogie boards as well as the wraparound lanai and pools at the resort. I was nervous booking because there were mixed reviews, but after my trip, I'm now confused as to why. They were very helpful and attentive from start to finish. Even when we got there and had internet and tv issues, someone was out the same day and fixed it. Very easy to work with and I would most definitely book a trip through this company again. I will say that unit #247 in Honua Kai Resort in Maui needs its dryer fixed. Our washer worked fine so I just hung the clothes to dry because the dryer just dry anything (my moms dryer in #323 worked well.) Wasn't a big deal to me at all really. I do wish housekeeping came by daily to help sweep up sand, I vacuumed and swept but it's nice when someone else comes in and does it for you. Beautiful views of pool and ocean from all interior rooms at Honua Kai! This resort is top notch and I'm very picky and like things clean, and prim and proper. We will never book with this company again! They are the horrible. As several others have posted on here, my wife and I had plans to go to Maui the last week of Aug 2023. As the stories came in about the wildfires, we started to monitor the situation. After seeing the destruction the wild fires caused, we knew that we had to for go the trip. United graciously refunded our air fare in full. When I called KBM, they still said we are confirmed for the days booked and it would be ok to come to Maui. Really! Really! I told them no, we are going to conceal the trip and would like a refund. Maria said they could only offer a 24 month credit to use only on Maui. I told Maria that I may not be alive in 24 months and that all the other hotels and even the air lines were giving full refunds! She stated that where this KBM resort was located was not near the fires. I mapped it out and told her that it was 7 plus or minus miles from where they were using search and rescue dogs to recover bodies. Maria said that she would have to call her boss to see if they would give a full refund and would call me back. That was on THursday and I have not heard from them. I also filed a complainant with the BBB. If you use VRBO, the site I booked this on, stay away from any KBM Resorts. read more

I visited Maui with another family (4 adults and 4 kids) for our spring break. The villa we rented was perfect for our vacation. Our accommodations had everything we needed, including large kitchen, washer/dryer, 2 bedroom suites with adjoining bathrooms, an additional bedroom + living room with pull out sofa. We had a large island and dining table that accommodated our large group. The washer and dishwasher was stocked with detergent. The villa is modern with a clean design, with large open floor plan that opened up to a large covered patio via very large sliding doors. The patio/lanai had ample seating, a very large table, outdoor fridge, grill and retractable screen/shade. We spend every morning and night outside eating, lounging, and hanging with our group. It was nice to have this large outdoor private seating area available. The kids liked having the beach, pool, hot tub and other amenities in close proximity too. The villa was also had beach umbrellas, chairs, and cooler which was so helpful for our trips to the beach. The Honua Kai villas have garages! We were also able to park our car and store our surf boards, which was a nice perk. Electronic wrist bands made it very simple and efficient to access the resort and villa. The customer service was terrific. Prior to our visit, we had the staff help us set up a whale watching excursion (the tour was amazing). They also answered questions in advance of our trip. When we arrived, the staff was very attentive and accommodating with our needs and answering questions we had about navigating Maui. The resort is close to old town Lahaina (10 min) and Kapalua Bay (10 min). Grocery stores and Whaler's Village were in close proximity too. Perfect location to good eats and things to do. This was a first time visit to Honua Kai resort. We really enjoyed our stay and had great memories of the trip. We will definitely book with KBM again. read more

Overall, I loved the Honua Kai property; however, there were some issues with my stay. For one, they did not deduct the 6th night as promised via VRBO. I have been talking to them for a week and they still have not taken responsibility around this. In addition, the night before I left there was a safety incident. A member of their Maintenance staff entered our room without knocking or announcing themselves. He told my daughter "Hi." When I heard this man's voice in our room, "I asked "what are you doing here?" He apologized claiming that he thought we had already left that day & he left. My concern is that he arrived 5 minutes after my teen daughter and her friend had come back to the room. I had been there for a few hours, so it's likely that he did not know I would be there if he followed them. He arrived at 4 PM which is not a typical check out time. Check out is usually at 11 AM. 4 PM is a time when new arrivals check in unless you are already staying there. It seemed as though my daughter and her friend were followed. The resort has yet to provide me with an update from their main office about this incident occurring even though I spoke with their security and was told that I would hear back about this incident. read more

I just returned from the Honua Kai with my room managed by KBM. The one redeeming factor of KBM is that the staff is nice - from the booking process to the guest representatives. This is where they fall short - the 2 bedroom property that I stayed was not a "5 star property". Realistically I would rate it a 2/3 star property. The rug of the condo had big black stains throughout, the sink in the master bathroom was clogged to the point that it left a residue in the sink once it drained and the internet instructions were not properly outlined, requiring us to resort to other means. I've never run into so many issues with a property prior to day 1. All of these issues should have been addressed prior to my stay, hence my 2 star rating. read more

Yikes! Just returned from our week at the Honua Kai in Maui. We have been there many times and never had an experience like we did this time. Have never booked thru KBM in the past. We were not greeted by anyone, only communication was thru email.We quickly had a need to speak with someone as construction began outside our window at 6:am on our first morning there( and continued every weekday). They didn't really seem to care! There was also (VERY LOUD construction in the unit directly above us. Each communication with them seemed like they didn't know who we were or that we had ever called before. To make a very long story short, the construction above us resulted in the AC being disconnected. Discovered only because resort guests had complained and so they had a maintenance man investigate.They knocked on our door to check out our AC and as we talked I mentioned the construction. They went to check it out, returned and sure enough it had been disconnected by the construction.9 Took 2 days without AC for this to be solved! Krisy from KBM eventually offered us 5% back on our rate(if we would sign a non disclosure agreement)...Are you kidding!! $80 to not share our experience with anyone. Why?? because the extent of the construction was never disclosed and they provided no help whatsoever in resolving construction related issues. As another reviewer put it....they provided conflicting and inaccurate information and seemed challenged to do basic things!Lesson learned here!!! we will only reserve directly thru an owner. Our experience is that owners have always been hands on, concerned, helpful, responsive and available...all things that KBM is not!!!!We have been home almost a week now and still haven't received emails that they say they have sent regarding a refund. So even the insulting 5% hasn't been delivered upon!! I suspect we will never receive a refund of any kind!! They seem to have a problem with the truth!! read more

They were fired by one of the condo owners unit we rented, and they accessed the unit to remove the wi-fi ...without our knowledge or permission! Went without internet for a week and a half out of our 2 week stay. Find someone to rent from who has YOUR back, not the owners. read more

My family and I book with KBM every time we visit the island and are never disappointed. From booking our stay to check in, the duration of the stay and check out, the service is exceptional. The photos of the properties are spot on and my questions about amenities and activities to do were answered quickly and thoughtfully. Traveling with children can be a challenge in itself and I felt as though KBM treated my family as their own and were excellent hosts. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE company to deal with DO NOT USE THEM. Booked my 10 year anniversary and because of this virus threat and our airline not flying out of Canada we obviously can't go anymore. They demand a 45 day cancellation policy. I paid them in full 1 day before this would have affected me not knowing just how bad this would become. 5 days later called them and try to cancel and the girl got bitchy and rude. I said you can keep all my money, pay your staff, whatever but just let me reschedule for next year, but the answer was go pound sand. Since then I have emailed 3 times without any reply. My husband and I booked our trip to Hawaii months ago and rented a condo through VRBO, ultimately managed by KBM Hawaii. Due to the current situation around COVID19 we contacted the KBM Hawaii numerous times throughout the week to ask them about their cancellation policy given the current global pandemic. They stated that they are not making any exceptions and that if we choose to cancel we forfeit our entire payment which is ~3k. VRBO had publicly announced that they are urging all property owners to offer a refund and/or allow renters to reschedule given the travel concerns. Through NUMEROUS attempts this week to contact KBM Hawaii they have stood firm, offering no solutions. They have since stopped responding to our calls and emails. We live in CA and already told VRBO and the property management company that we are concerned of a travel ban on CA soon. We've contacted VRBO three times now and they said it's out of their control as it's ultimately up to the property managers. After 2.5 hours on the phone with VRBO today they finally escalated it to their "trust and safety" team to help get resolution. It blows my mind that this property management company could be so heartless and reckless during this time with no recourse. We are now being forced to decide if we just risk it and go, or do we forfeit the money we had saved for our vacation this year. It's sad and truly despicable that KBM Hawaii does business this way. Make it right, and I will adjust my review and rebook with your property when it's safe to travel. read more

We planned a family Maui vacation back 2019 pre COVID for the time in October 2020. Once COVID hit we cancelled and moved it to late August. we have our airline tickets in hand, LAX parking lot reserved, car rental reserved and paid for once we get to Maui. Included in our family vacation are 7 of us. We emailed KBM several weeks ahead of our departure date because we heard about the shortage of beach toys etc. They replied that our condo we were renting had all the gear for grandchildren. We were set and looking forward to this long awaited vacation. Then I get an email from KBM two days before our family flies out saying that the construction on the condo Lanai is not completed and we cannot stay there. Really two days before. They offered another place sitting on a rock beach far from where our condo was right on a sandy beach boardwalk to whalers village. Now I had to go online and find a place to stay without paying premium rates. KBM Resorts knew there was construction being done on our rental condo but never informed us of this. No other compensation was given to us. Just the refund of our paid in advance stay. So please be Aware that you may experience some anxiety if you think you have a company that has your best interest at heart. That wasn't the case here. Oh yes. Because we booked a 7-day stay we got a rental car for free reserved for us. They told us since we were cancelling our vacation that also included our rental car. Now on top of finding a place for the 7 of us to stay two days before arriving we had to find a rental car company that had a Car available for us to rent We found a place for us to stay but at 2x the cost we had budgeted and paid for in advance.
