I bought a Kyocera 1135-MFP from KBA Docusys Inc. The rep, Julie Vogado, and her assistant Lisa Sterrett, work in the same office building where my former office was. I was going out on my own, from a suite of professionals to my own office, and I needed to completely supply my new office. As an estate planning attorney, I needed a fast, duplex, black and white printer, copier and scanner. I had three criteria: fast, reliable, and purchased from a business that supported the community that I love and work in. I didn't know Julie well but we had both attended the annual fund raiser for Special Kids Crusade, a great organization in Monterey that supports families with children with autism spectrum disorders. I go to the fund raiser every year to support the organization. I loved it that Julie was there. She sells printers! And she was cool enough to support challenged children! I loved that. She had immediate plus points with me. Plus, she is a very likeable person. No wonder she's Senior Account Executive. Now, onto the printer. I needed to trust Julie somewhat. I told her what I needed. The trouble is, what I needed costs lots of money. She was honest. She got me information on many machines. I played with a few at her office. They all seemed too big, by which I mean, too expensive. I thought I could do it for $500. Not! I took a few weeks to think. I realized that I was a very serious professional, that I could afford the best, and that it was time to make the commitment of an excellent machine. I chose the Kyocera 1135- MFP. Installation was a dream. I was sure to have my IT guy present when the KBA Docusys Inc. installer was there. It was quick. The machine is fast! It duplexes easily and quickly. It handles my lightly crumpled 30 year old deeds from my 80-year-old clients without a hitch. I bought the support package ($14/ month). With it comes unlimited ink. The first ink resupply hit me with $13 in mailing charges, which caught me by surprise, but now I pick them up from the Monterey KBA Docusys Inc. office, really as an excuse to say hi to Julie. It seems that I am over using the paper amount for which I contracted: I pay a few bucks more a month for that. Perhaps I can raise the contract, we'll see. I manually replaced the toner myself with Julie coaching me. I asked for the owner's manual in print, Julie supplied it, and I have used it a few times. After about 3 months, the printer left extraneous lines on my scanned documents. My efforts to clean the glass did not suffice. The repair KBA Docusys Inc. expert came out and cleaned it better. But that only lasted a week or so and he had to come again. He then gave it a thorough cleaning, vacuum and all, that second visit and it's been fine since. Last week, the scanner, though it went through the motions of scanning, stopped conducting the information to my computer, out of the blue. I called Julie, who suspected it was a problem on the computer end rather than the scanner end, as the Kyocera 1135 still went through the motions of scanning and still printed fine. After two visits from my great IT support team (Livewire), they reprogrammed the Kyocera 1135 to my computer. Their best guess is that Norton, in a recent upgrade, put up a firewall all of a sudden to the scanner, for no obvious reason. Oh, well. I have now used the Kyocera -1135 for five months and I have needed 2 Docusys support visits (to get it clean) and 2 IT support visits (for the one scanning disconnect problem). This seems to be a lot but we will see. I have a support KBA Docusys Inc. contract, which relieves me somewhat, but the time given for support and maintenance is time away from my production, so down time is a serious issue for me. I don't think five months is enough time to know; we may be just working out the glitches. Julie, and the support people at KBA Docusys Inc., have stood by me all the way and that is very important to me. I can go zany with the pressure of my deadlines for court and document production and the support people at KBA Docusys Inc. seem to be committed to keeping me working. They understand why I am totally anxious at times to get back producing. All in all, so far it's been very worthwhile. I would recommend Docusys. And Julie is great! I would give KBA 5 stars for their customer service. Bryce and Julie are the best...and make dealing with the copier that we purchased from another salesperson at KBA tolerable. We have a lot of service issues with the copier, but Bryce is always quick to come and help us...and good at solving the problem of the day! Julie has been very great as well, helping us to understand our machine better...learning how to use it! read more
