Maria the owner is a great seamstress! Quick and reasonably priced! I won't use anyone else and I have a 20 minute drive here!

Didn't have good luck here. Sizing poor and quality was just OK. She's a lovely woman and I wish her well, but I won't be back.

Was visiting California and needed a good seamstress that can turn it around fast and Nati, the owner, hemed my pants in 20 minutes!

Great work and even better customer service! I love to support local, family owned businesses so…read morewhen i needed my bridesmaid dress altered, i came across this place! My dress needed the straps to be shorter and my slit was sewed since it was rather high. I also added sleeves to my dress and she did an amazing job! With the extra fabric, she offered to make two pocked squares as well. My sister and I had a very small window in which we needed alterations for her bridesmaid suit and my dress. They got them BOTH done so fast and the work was incredible. Aside from the work, they have great customer service which seems to be hard to come by these days. Highly recommend this place! Would definitely return. More info on cost: I paid $138 for the slit to be sewed, straps to be shorter, added sleeves, plus two pocket squares. My sisters alterations to her suit were nearly the same amount

I brought two old short sleeve shirts in for very small repairs but the owner grimaced and remarked…read moreabout how horribly they were damaged. "How did this ever happen??!", noticing a buttonhole that needed a small amount of repair. She automatically took the shirts and hung them up on her to-do rack making it somewhat uncomfortable for me to say thanks, but no thanks. It was then I wanted to know how much the bill would be, and she replied $24. I then grabbed the shirts off of her rack and bid her a good day. I have seen this same tactic used at different types of repair shops where the owner overly dramatizes what needs to be done and takes possession of the item prior to discussing the charge or getting approval. In sales that's called the assumptive close, where they act as though they assume you will approve the work and pay their price for the very minimal effort required. Don't fall for it. I have just now received a response from the lady's husband indicating that I must have visited a different shop and mistakenly thought I was in theirs. Absolutely not possible as I've been in several times in the past. Perhaps showing the shirts will refresh her memory and also defend my own. For full disclosure, the green shirt does have a small half-inch rip on the back side.

Updating with photos!…read more This is the 2nd time I've come to Rivers for really odd projects - the first time I bought this sunshade online and it turned out to be so flimsy, I needed a 2nd shade as a backing. Came to Rivers and they did exactly as asked. The 2nd was a jacket for when I'm working at home and any of the 3 pups want to take turns to join my meetings! You know how THOSE goes! I tried to browse online and while the sweaters were cheap, the taxes were a killer! So I bought two, $7 sweaters from Goodwill, showed Abuela the design and she totally nailed it! Plus if you're a dog lover, Abuela had a cute puppy in store with her Support your local artisans!

Ruined my jeans. I went in asking if they could patch it. Lady said they could. I showed up a month…read morelater to ensure they had plenty of time to fix em. She didn't patch them but instead she sewed them really bad. Guy got in my face when I said I didn't like it. Said he was calling the cops because I asked for a refund. I basically paid them to ruin my jeans. He kept calling me a child and said if he were to refund me he'd have to keep the jeans, which made absolutely zero sense. He also implied that I was stupid for assuming they tailor by hand. If I'd known they just throw clothes under the sewing machine and sew with their eyes closed, I would've just done it myself, maybe it would've come out better. This place sucks, and it's my fault for not reading the reviews prior to this. Maybe it was better before, but the current owner genuinely sucks. **Editing my review since he wants to reply and act like he was a victim** I went in calmly and he laughed at me for asking him to fix it. He kept insisting that I said I wanted it to be perfect despite me repeatedly saying that I wasn't saying that, and when I'd ask him to stop putting words in my mouth, he'd again scoff and laugh. All I asked was that the jeans be fixed. Anybody would be upset seeing some stranger treat them the way he treated me. We came to a conclusion that he personally would sew the pants, and risky as it was, I left them there. 2 months later and they weren't sewn, just thrown in the back and left to be forgotten. So I took my pants and the loss. Clearly his response is enough to show that he can never take blame for a job poorly done. Take your business elsewhere, might be a bit pricier, but worth the peace of mind knowing that your clothes won't be treated like garbage and that the tailor will actually care about the quality they put out.
