I had a very disappointing experience with Freedom Brides. One of my biggest concerns was the lack of communication and customer service. Throughout the process, I was the one who had to repeatedly reach out for updates rather than receiving proactive communication from the business. Months after making payments, I was still being told that pricing and estimates were pending. When it came time to move forward, I was informed that the seamstress needed for my project was not available. I was later offered a partial refund, but as of the date of this review, I have still not received it. The owner also did not have the details of my situation correct and stated that I had gone in for multiple fittings, when I had only met with the seamstress once. This added to the confusion and frustration. After this experience, I worked with a bridal shop in Carlsbad, and the difference in customer service was night and day. They were organized, communicated clearly, followed up proactively, and kept me informed throughout the process without me having to constantly reach out for updates. As a customer, I value communication, transparency, and follow-through. Unfortunately, this experience was stressful and left me feeling unsupported during an important time in my wedding planning. My experience with Freedom Brides was a rollercoaster--starting with excitement, turning extremely stressful, and ending with mixed feelings. While I found my dream dress quickly and initially received great service, the alteration process became unexpectedly costly, confusing, and emotionally exhausting. I found the perfect wedding dress right away. Jenny was warm and welcoming, and I purchased the gown for $500, with an additional $200 quoted for alterations (sleeves, length, and back adjustment). I was thrilled. A month before the wedding, I scheduled a fitting and discovered the sleeves no longer fit. Jenny re-measured my arms and confirmed my measurements hadn't changed. She admitted the situation was baffling, as only the lower part of the sleeves had been altered. I trusted her expertise and didn't anticipate that the cost of correcting this would fall on me. I returned for a second fitting on 5/7 but Jenny had a personal emergency, so she was not prepared and nothing on dress was changed and she meant to cancel me but for some reason I did not receive that message so I showed up, a 35 min drive one way. I was scheduled for a 3rd fitting on 5/14--just five days before my wedding. At that fitting, I was shocked to find completely new sleeves from a different dress, with a different pattern, attached without my consent. The back of the dress was also still incomplete. The unexpected change made me anxious, but I remained understanding and asked if some original sleeve elements could be reintroduced to maintain a cohesive look. Jenny agreed to add lace back at no extra charge. Then, on 5/16--two days later--I was blindsided by a $682.50 invoice. Jenny described the work as a "reconstruction project," citing hourly charges for the seamstress's work on the waistband, sleeves, back, fittings, corset, and more. At no point had this cost been communicated, and I had not agreed to such extensive work but ultimately it had to be done if I wanted a dress at all. Jenny referenced posted shop policies, but my unchanged measurements and lack of prior notice made the charges feel unfair. She insisted she was doing me a favor , that I should be grateful for all the work and gave me an example of a similar bride whose arm muscles grew over a weekend of moving out. I felt rushed and cornered into paying the full amount without reviewing the invoice in detail. She also warned that one more invoice would follow for that week's remaining work. Jenny said she had to leave town and delegated final coordination to the seamstress. On 5/17--just two days before the wedding--I met the seamstress to pick up the dress. She did a great job reapplying some original sleeve elements, and I was happy with the result. Jenny had promised to send the final invoice that day, but I received it a week later: an additional $341.25. She noted she'd waived charges for her own time, implying the total could have been higher. After the wedding, I carefully reviewed both invoices and found numerous inconsistencies: charges for fittings (advertised as free), work from dates I was unaware of, and charges Jenny had previously promised to waive amongst other details. I emailed her with my concerns and offered to pay a portion of the second invoice. To her credit, she responded by dismissing the invoice entirely, which I genuinely appreciated. The end result: a beautiful dress, but an experience marked by unnecessary stress, miscommunication, and surprise charges. Brides--be cautious. Ask detailed questions, confirm all pricing in writing, clarify what constitutes "adjustments," and plan fittings well in advance. Good luck, and happy wedding! I had the best experience at freedom brides! When I came it was our last appt for the day and I was feeling down because I couldn't find anything that was me. I was looking for something less traditional, in my budget and also my timeline was getting short. Jenny was so wonderful and understanding. She really tried to help me find what I was looking for and then she suggested they could make something for me! I showed some photos of what I wanted, we picked out swatched and colors etc. She was always timely getting back to me or letting me know next steps. Don't be scared off by the drive out of town! This store is a hidden gem. Amazing customer service. I was fitted for a dress, a week later found out I was pregnant and the owner ordered me a second bigger dress at no extra cost and it fit perfectly. The alterations were done by Abbey who did an amazing job making sure my dress was the perfect fit for my big day. The most magical bridal gown experience! I brought my two besties, my mom, and my mother-in-law-to-be. We got started with champagne and charcuterie which really set the tone. Freedom Brides is a hidden gem (literally!) They are the sweetest ladies and very knowledgeable. They have a surprisingly large selection for a small shop like this and they are willing to work with your budget more than any other shop I have been to. I unfortunately didn't find "the one" here but I wasn't pressured or made to feel bad at all and I was told there would be more dresses coming in the next week if I wanted to come back (I still might if I haven't found anything by then.) I wish I had found my dress here because I would love to support their business, I definitely like the way they do things! They don't charge for alterations and they even have included items like a veil when you purchase a dress. What they tell you the dress costs is what you pay! It seems like they are just getting started and have plans to make their business bigger which I am excited for. I would recommend them to anyone in the area looking for a different wedding dress shopping experience. Do save the gate code before you leave your house though because we lost service several miles before we got there and had to honk and wait while she walked out to let us in lol... oops! I had an awful experience with Jenny and Freedom Brides. They are misleading and unprofessional. My friend bought her dress from her and had a pleasant experience so I rented a dress from her that I had picked out 4 months before my wedding. Jenny put the dress on me, went over what would need to be done to the dress and assured me it could be done. We discussed the cost of renting plus how much alterations would be and she quoted me $ 600 to rent and about 150- 200 for alterations and that she would do some free alterations as well. She told me to come back 3 months later which was 30 days before my wedding to do an initial fitting. When I showed up, I was told by her staff that I couldn't alter the dress and I needed to pick another one.( I had even texted her the day before and she mentioned nothing.) Again, she had 3 months to give me this information and did not reach out to me once.Through a text message she told me to pick one and hopefully it would fit, because it would be too expensive to alter the original one. I even tried on a few others, picked one and then was told that dress couldn't be altered either. I was confused and so was her staff when we were trying to get a straight answer. Eventually through text I was told that I could take the original dress to be altered myself. One of her staff members felt sorry for me and offered to do it but I ended up having to pay an additional $ 700. When I went back to the boutique with my mom for the fitting Jenny spoke down to me like a child saying I took the dress to be altered and I shouldn't have since I was only renting it ( again, she told me I could take it myself and this was after I did try on other dresses) and that she felt she was doing me a huge favor letting me pick any dress from her collection but I was being insistent and unreasonable. My mom told me to stay calm because she already backed out of what she said once and I could end up with no dress 3 weeks before my wedding. We also overheard her telling another bride that she offers free alterations and as of today her website advertises that as well. She then prohibited certain alterations to the dress that Jenny initially told me could be done and the dress I ended up with was pretty but it just wasn't what it looked like initially. Jenny, you caused me stress and ruined an experience for me that I was so excited for and instead I just dreaded every time I had to go back for a fitting. Once I got the dress too I was told that some of the beads would fall off and that was to be expected and not to worry. When I returned the dress she kept some of my deposit because of this reason, which I could understand but every step of the way I was lied to, misled or had information withheld. Unfortunately I had a very poor experience today with Freedom Brides. I have had an appointment booked for weeks. Everything was confirmed, up to this morning. I drove over an hour to be there today by noon for my appointment. It is in a very Back-Woods location, through dirt roads, cows... the whole nine. Ok no biggie, except- you also lose all phone signals. I arrived at the gate. I was never given a code to get in or alerted any instructions whatsoever. I couldn't call due to no phone service. I sat there for 20min hoping someone would come out. I honked several times. I then decided to leave and drive 10min back out onto a main road just to get a signal.. tried calling them a few times-no answer and I couldn't even leave a voicemail due to their VM box being full. This was extremely inconvenient and could have been easily prevented had someone alerted me ahead of time about the process to get in and possibly having no phone service. I will now look for my dress at other locations. read more

I have no words to describe how amazing Freedom Brides is! My mom's wedding renewal was in May 2020 but was postponed due to COVID. We tried again in 2021 and rescheduled for a second time. Finally, The day came when we could go and pick up my mom's dress! We had the most beautiful experience with Jenny and her assistant. They were very attentive and caring. They listened to what my mom was looking for, which was very appreciated. They showed my mom the most beautiful dresses. My mom is so happy she found the dress of her dreams. They even did free alterations to a couple of parts that needed fixing. If you're looking to shop locally or just for a bridal shop in general, this is the place to go! You will not be disappointed!
