The next month, they insisted that my parent, somehow (with the same alleged 2-3 person assist) kept trying to escape and needed to go into infinitely more expensive memory care, so I asked them why the 2-3 people assisting them were helping my parent to escape? And could they please stop that? Magically after that, my elderly parent didn't need a 2-3 person assist anymore and no longer needed memory care. It was a "miracle!"

Our friend has a nice 1 bedroom apartment which included a large entryway with a kitchenette. There was enough room for a small dining table and chairs. She is in the memory care unit, they lost her teeth a couple weeks ago for 6 DAYS & did not mention it until we were coming to pick her up for an appointment. I took her to the audiologist last week & she had an ear infection & a hearing aid tip stuck in her ear. They cannot bathe my Mom because she is difficult, well guess what! That's why we are paying you nearly $12,000 per month. And yes! We have a case open with the ombudsman. The new director Page Malmstrom does not listen, does not take any accountability & gives canned responses like "oh I'll talk to my team". And my favorite, "I've only been here for a few weeks". Save yourself the heartache and grief; DO NOT recommend or take your loved one to this facility. Once the ombudsman is finished with her assessment, my Mom is out of Brookdale Park Place. Tough chapter, hope this review helps you to really do your research.

Porter Place claims to be a memory care facility, but they ate clearly not trained in Dementia or…read moreAlzheimer care. Our mother, with advanced dementia was a resident there. As her dementia progressed with personality changes and other difficulties, rather than understanding and diverting the behaviors, they complained amongst one another and to us every time we visited. There were caregivers there that definitely let it be known they did not want to care for her. They were understaffed, appeared stressed most the time and clearly didn't have the patience for memory care. Her hygiene suffered and she had frequent UTI's, several falls and they constantly tried to have dosages in her medication increased to make her more docile. Thankfully her doctor refused these requests with concerns of more falls. Our mother eventually ended up in the hospital with failing physical health, was moved to a long term care facility and passed away. I would never recommend this facility, especially for memory care if you are expecting quality and professional care.

The…read moreinstructor, Cecilia, is a native Spanish speaker (with excellent English skills as well!), and she is an amazing teacher. She is passionate about her work, always well-prepared and organized, and very friendly. I learned a lot in her class. Cecilia is excellent at what she does. I also had great experiences with the CFU staff. I have signed up for the next Spanish course and am looking forward to learning more!
