Porter Place claims to be a memory care facility, but they ate clearly not trained in Dementia or Alzheimer care. Our mother, with advanced dementia was a resident there. As her dementia progressed with personality changes and other difficulties, rather than understanding and diverting the behaviors, they complained amongst one another and to us every time we visited. There were caregivers there that definitely let it be known they did not want to care for her. They were understaffed, appeared stressed most the time and clearly didn't have the patience for memory care. Her hygiene suffered and she had frequent UTI's, several falls and they constantly tried to have dosages in her medication increased to make her more docile. Thankfully her doctor refused these requests with concerns of more falls. Our mother eventually ended up in the hospital with failing physical health, was moved to a long term care facility and passed away. I would never recommend this facility, especially for memory care if you are expecting quality and professional care. read more

My mom has been a resident at Porter Place for about a year now and I can't express how wonderful the staff and the facility are! I did read the poor reviews before we visited the building and I talked to some residents that have lived there for years, they had only outstanding recommendations which we have found to be accurate. Finally I have to add the fact that I live six minutes away from the building and we are there two or three times a week. (when there is no lock down) I am witness to the staff, building, other residents and have found them all to be exceptional! read more

My friend recently moved into Porter Place. She loves it! Moving out of your home is stressful, Porter Place made it so easy! The food is great, the staff are professional and kind. I feel like the management is really invested in the residents wellbeing and happiness. I will absolutely recommend Porter Place. read more

My grandmother has lived at Porter Place for 6 months.  It's been such a relief to finally have her where we know she is safe, and where she is happy and content too.    She moved to Porter Place after living at two other Assisted Living places over the last five-years.    If only we had known about Porter Place the first and second time around!  She has a much larger apartment now, the food is better, the same amount of assistance, (she has nothing but good things to say about her caregivers), and she is paying so much less than at the high-end, for-profit facilities where she previously lived - and she likes Porter Place better.  The caregivers are very kind, and management is very responsive.  She enjoys all the things there are to do and likes being able to attend chapel, and we love that she isn't just sitting around waiting for us to visit.    Feeling truly cared about as an individual is what has made the difference for her.   There is a relationship of trust with the staff that money can't buy at any price.  5 stars from this grateful family! read more

My Mom lives at Porter Place and I think it is a terrible place. There was an incident where she was having left arm pain. The nurse came to check her out she told my mom that her face was not strained so she was not having a heart attack. The nurse didn't check her vitals or send her out to be checked. The caregivers forget to come get my mom for her meals then forget to come back to take her back to her room. The meals leave a lot to be desired. They get half sandwichs or meals covered in heavy sauce (mushrooms) or sandwichs that are dry and dont offer condiments. read more

BEWARE. Porter Place is in the right location and affiliated with all of the right groups and hospitals on paper but it's a facade. That's truly what makes it so dangerous. We had the misfortune of placing my mother there for one horrifying and traumatic 8 months. She was abused and humiliated by several of the nurses and staff members. She was hiding her wet sheets and diapers under her bed in fear of being punished. She was separated and forced to eat alone at a table because she she was messy - she had difficulty raising her fork to her mouth and would drop her food so they punished her for that!!! Unbelievable!!!. She was humiliated and berated. She developed severe anxiety in their care. It broke my heart when we visited only after being there a few months. It was so bad that we had to move her to an entirely new facility. Porter Place should be under investigation. I do not recommend placing any of your loved ones there. PLEASE do a thorough investigation and don't take the entry tour with the salesmen. It's not on the surface. read more
