My husband, who has advancing Parkinsons, moved 6 months ago to a beautiful assisted-living apartment at Garden Plaza of Aurora.
This new facility is gorgeous. There is an attached independant-living building, which is also beautiful. The place really does feel like home, both to me and to my husband. And getting to know the other residents has been an unexpected gift. There are many intimate areas to relax, visit, watch TV or read. The spotless common areas are tastefully decorated, with plenty of comfortable seating, fireplaces, and more. The dining room feels like a very nice restaurant, with white tablecloths and actual menus for the residents to use when choosing a meal. The food is very good, and the dining staff is friendly and warm with the residents.
The very best part of our experience with Garden Plaza has been the staff. Every single person treats my husband like a member of the family, and I have noticed none of the unintentional condescension frequently exhibited by medical and care-giving personnel. Most importantly, the management of my husband's medical care and medications has been just excellent. It is a huge relief to know that he is consistently receiving accurate dosages at the correct times of day. They are very patient and understanding of the troubling symptoms that are part of this very complex disease.
I can't recommend Garden Plaza highly enough. Finding the perfect place to support both my husband and myself has saved us from what had become an unsustainable situation. I consider the staff to be crucial in providing my husband with the care he needs to live a comfortable and pleasant life. read more
