It saddens me to leave this review. After many years of our family members living there, we moved…read morethem out for their well-being. When I look at the reviews on this page, I would say these WERE accurate, however, they have new leadership and subsequently, the service has significantly declined. - Staff are leaving left and right. Outside of front desk staff, you'd be hard pressed to find more than a handful of staff who have been there longer than 2 years. And honestly, the reason most of the residents haven't left is because it's just so hard of an adjustment moving elders. But many families and residents have shared their concerns in whispered conversations. - Leaks throughout the building but mostly on the second floor, which have resulted in mold and leaks to the first floor multipurpose room. - A whirlpool that is a selling point but has hardly, if ever worked. - Ignored emails or calls from concerned families. Or responses from leadership that are brash. - Someone else already mentioned in their review the front desk staff who don't acknowledge/speak to people -- that's guests and residents alike (why would onsite leadership be okay with that?). - All of this while prices have consistently been increasing. The final straw was Garden Plaza recently came under new ownership -- Life Care Centers of America. Name sounds familiar? Maybe because they were ground zero for elder deaths at the beginning of COVID. A five second Google search will tell you everything else you need to know. Here are the most notable legal actions against the company: 1. Medicare & TRICARE Fraud ($145 Million Settlement with Dept. of Justice where concerned employees were the initial whistleblowers) - Oct. 2016 2. Wage and Overtime Class Actions -- 2015-2020 3. Patient Abuse and Neglect Verdicts -- 2022 & 2024 4. Employment Discrimination -- 2024-2025 & active investigations in 2026 Garden Plaza is the Independent Living side and The Bridge at Garden Plaza is the Assisted Living side. Now most of these lawsuits are related to skilled nursing (aka assisted living or rehab), but the point still remains that this is who now OWNS Garden Plaza, coupled with lackluster onsite leadership.

It is convenient to shopping (right next door to Target!) grocery stores, restaurants, department stores and other specialty shops in The Gardens on Havana. The rent is reasonable and includes several amenities: utilities, garbage pickup, twice monthly light housekeeping service, wifi, coffee bar, concierge service, fitness room and maintenance. The Bella Vita Community offers many activities for residents: game groups such as Wii Bowling, Mexican Train Dominos, Bingo, Pictionary and others. Movie night is every Friday evening in our new movie room. We have resident committees to provide input on all aspects of our community. Guest speakers are arranged to visit to provide the latest info relevant to Seniors. Birthdays are celebrated monthly, donuts are available on Mondays and our community director sees that treats are available a few times a month. We also have a resident lead Book Club, Bible Study, Coloring Club as well as happy hours and socials. We have the best view of fireworks on the Fourth of July on our third floor deck. The deck is a wonderful place to sit and relax with friends and is equipped with plenty of tables, chairs, comfortable furniture, BBQ grills, and a fire pit for chilly days and evenings. Bella Vita is a great place to live with great neighbors!

After mom being at Chelsea place for a few months now, she is content, loved and her quality of life has improved. My mom has gained weight, eating better every day and participating more and more in activities. What you will find at Chelsea Place is a small town community vibe, care givers are caring, staff is very involved in every day care. The caregivers are knowledgeable as to the patient's needs, regular updates are given to the family regarding how mom is doing, family is welcomed in all activities. The most amazing thing that I have observed is how staff sit and really engage with each person, by coloring or doing puzzles, grooming and just hanging out to provide companionship..this is what makes my heart relax. If you need memory care for your loved one, please check out Chelsea Place, I have no doubt you will see what I see upon arrival and if you decide this is the place for your loved one to live, in a very short time your heart will be at ease too.

It is apparent that the leadership truly cares about protecting, engaging and loving our residents--and taking care of our team members. Expectations of our staff are high and people are held accountable for providing consistent care and service to our residents. At the heart of this place is a real sense of family--our residents' family members are here all the time visiting their loved ones and supporting each other. When a resident transitioned recently, dozens of family members attended her funeral to support her family. Our building is filled with volunteers from 3rd graders to high school seniors to college students and older adults. It is a vibrant place full of family, friends, music and kindness. I feel good every day about helping families through the process of moving a loved one into our care.

This review is based off of the tour of memory care and not assisted living. The sales lady was fairly new to HighPointe. We had a pretty good meeting in a common area by the main entry. I explained my relative was diagnosed in 2011 with Alzheimer's related dementia but was (and still is) in great health otherwise. She explained they have 5 levels of care (the most number of care levels out of any place we toured). The top level being $2500.00 a month in addition to the monthly room/board rate. She said based off of what I told her - my relative would probably need HighPointe's top care level at $2500.00 a month? I thought - what? Number one - you're not a nurse and number two - you haven't even done an assessment?? Finally got to tour memory care. So you have to have someone access the 3rd floor via the elevators both going to and leaving memory care - they will not give family members the code (another story related to that later). Memory care is very nice - entire floor U shaped with central dining and activity areas and a nice outdoor patio. The sales lady did not acknowledge any care givers or residents by name. There are only 4 care givers for 30 residents (a low ratio of care givers). The smallest studios are TINY - maybe 180 sq feet. It was depressing to look at. Yes they have larger studios/rooms but the $ amount per month goes up per square footage. Note to HighPointe family - when building additional new communities - design all memory care suites the same size . Your five room choice pricing with additional five care level of pricing is ridiculous. Have your architect spend a week in a memory care community. I inquired with sales lady L - so how do four care givers know what level of care all 30 residents are needing and paying for? Her reply was "they just do". Really? Care givers don't get paid much no matter where they work - so do they honestly know that Bob is a 3, Pat is a 5, Larry is a 1, etc etc? Ok so doing the math - a mid size studio along with level 5 care (which sales person said my relative would need) would put us at over $7000 a month? So we found a community within a mile of HighPointe; -has all inclusive pricing - no care levels and under $6k a month. -all rooms are exact same size in memory care -there are 4 care givers for twenty residents (much better ratio) Recently met the daughter of a resident who said she did her "due diligence " and had selected HighPointe for her mom who probably is at stage 6 with Alzheimer's. She said her mom became so severely dehydrated due to lack of care at HighPointe that she ended up in the hospital for over a week. She moved her to where we are and is so much happier with the care. Met a Director of Nursing for another community who said he had to do an assessment of a HighPointe resident for his community and he had to wait 15 minutes for elevator access to leave the memory care secured area. HighPointe you are a beautiful community but as previous reviews on Yelp and other websites point out - your memory care structure and set up needs some help. When I visited - three of your four care givers were just standing (one was seated) around. I thought to myself "where are the 25 residents and what are they doing".
