They've gone out of their way to make sure she's happy and healthy. My only lack of a 5th star is due to how hard it is to get ahold of employees by the phone sometimes, they're pretty good with email though. Some tips for anyone looking into a move in right now. 1 - Nothing is supplied: that means, tissues, toilet paper, shower curtain, towels, etc. I didn't know this at first so had to come by daily to bring things at first. 2 - Currently there is a 14 day quarantine period in resident rooms, so they are not able to socialize until after that time. 3 - Phone service is not included with rooms. There is a common area phone (though not accessible during the quarantine period), but for rooms you will need to get xfinity VOIP setup.

From the beginning, we experienced issues where services and ADL care tasks were not being performed by Peakview staff. The tasks detailed in his care plan such as laundry, changing of bed linens, shower assistance, and grooming were simply not being completed. As family members, we were constantly following up to why these services were not being done. Every time we visited my father, we wondered what issue we would have to deal with. When we contacted Peakview management regarding these issues, we were always politely told that they would be addressed. Unfortunately, nothing ever changed. We also experienced issues with Peakview's medical management process and medication chain-of-custody. At one point, we considered contacting the State of Colorado to file a complaint. During his residency, we experienced multiple occasions where medications were lost and/or incorrectly dosed. We also had issues where Peakview didn't perform timely updates to their medication database. Lastly, we had times when my father was being incorrectly billed for medications what were never administered. At one of our final care meetings, I can still remember the Executive Director saying, 'Let us (Peakview) handle the day-to-day activities of daily living, so you can enjoy quality time with your loved one.' Our experience with Peakview was nothing like that. At the end of my father's residency, we were paying close to $9000 a month and Peakview was still not consistently performing tasks documented in his care plan. After our 3rd formal care meeting, we decided it was hopeless and made the difficult decision to move my father. Peakview is a modern facility and some of the staff members are very nice. Don't be fooled. If you want your loved one actually cared for, don't choose Peakview.

After having experienced two grandparents in the general retirement area, and one of those grandparents later in memory care, I can say with confidence that the family chose well with Morning Star. Yes. There are always difficulties in communication, insurance, billing, and everything else that you might expect from dealing with any sort of business entity at all. This simply comes with the territory. But what makes me happy with how my grandparents lived out their time at Morning Star is the respect, dignity, and help that they got from a great staff. If my grandfather was feeling ill, the staff would bring soup to his room. If he needed help with medicine, there were services to assist in managing his pills. Finally when he died, the staff was helpful to the family in planning for my grandmother. In memory care, my grandmother was taken to every meal, she was brought to the daily activity session, and was never just left in her room to fade away. Her defiance was met with patience, and the staff always let us know about anything she might need (socks, pants, etc.) The last few years of someone's life is an uncomfortable topic. Death is an uncomfortable topic. But I'm so happy that Morning Star made my grandparents last days more bearable. It's got a great, uplifted vibration to it, which I think is so helpful when we are needing care like this at the end of life. The staff are loving and amazing. The dining room is elegant and great care goes into the preparation of the meals. I couldn't have imagined such a supportive environment for our parents. My dad lived upstairs in Assisted Living area since October. The care he received was wonderful. Our family visited every day, and everyone we met has been quite extraordinary. It's not easy to find a place that has this quality and consistency of support. My dad arrived here in October walking easily on his own and coming really only for the meals and socializing. He was living on his own for awhile and it was getting to be more work than he wanted to do to drive and shop. Amazingly, he had a rather sudden decline in his health within about a month and needed quite a bit of care. We were so relieved and grateful that he could remain here and receive the care he needed. In fact, they've helped cover his car needs every step of the way. It's a blessing we didn't need to move to nursing care. He just passed peacefully last week, and the amount of concern and kindness from all the staff is hard to describe. Wonderful. He received hospice care while being able to continue to stay here through the hospice folks who are part of the facility's medical support. They were angels, too. (A shout out to Bloom Hospice - huge thanks to Betsy, Hope, and the whole team). My mom was cared for in the downstairs memory wing 2 years ago, and also received loving care. We couldn't have been more grateful for everything Cherry Hills provided for her. Angels do this kind of work. Adding this note for families who are searching for the right place: my dad moved here looking forward to some social interaction with others, and was good health when he moved in. But he found that there were almost no others (just one man) at the facility who were mentally clear like he was. He adapted to the new reality, but it would have been more stimulating had he had more people to talk with. As a service, he spent time with many people there who were pleasant but mentally diminished. They were not close to his level of clarity. Perhaps there are more people like that than he was able to meet. But if your parent is clear-minded and physically able to, he would be better off in an independent living place with tiered levels of additional support as needed.

Trails right outside to walk, are abundant and also very nice as you walk thru the park right there/golf course. Different sized Rooms make up assisted living (AL) --studio, 1 BR, 2 BR. Memory care (MC) only has 2 sizes of studios--385 and 520 sq feet. The views you have contribute to the price as well. They also have Assisted Living with their Essentials support, provides a bridge between AL and MC. Food is pretty nice. Heritage week was being offered where unique foods from other areas around the world were being featured. Service was pretty great. Kind, compassionate when talking to residents. Beautiful set-up with dishes being offered on display as you walk in. Love the front desk team. All super nice and energetic. Very knowledgable and helpful. A nice sized theater for movies. Arts and crafts room. Library space. Outside deck/seats and tables with a very calming and beautiful view. Exercise class in the morning and other activities throughout the day. I just couldn't sift through any more of it and feel confident on my own in finding a better situation for my dad. Sitting at the computer in tears scrolling through assisted living websites, I stumbled across Stacy's Helping Hands here on Yelp. I called the company and reached the owner, Pam Silverberg. It was probably one of the single best things that ever happened in this painful, complicated road of caring for my dad. Pam was warm, friendly, and interested in helping me. Before i even engaged her services, she gave so much of her time to me. She wasn't another one of the sales people in the assisted living business - she just seemed like a concerned friend. And she had a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience. We worked together for several months because I was so nervous about moving my dad. But she was patient and kept talking with me through good options. She was a fantastic sounding board. She got to know my dad's needs and made recommendations based on his needs and my concerns. She visited several facilities with me and became a good interface between me and the facility we finally chose. She was alongside us as we moved my dad and continued to interface with the facility and advocate for us in a couple of situations that arose when we moved my dad in. No one should navigate this road alone. Pam at Stacy's Helping Hands genuinely wants to help people navigate this arduous road. I feel like she's really become a friend in this whole process.
