This time with my cat Joyce I hoped to find a vet who could come to our home. I was so relieved when Dr. Parent answered the phone and was available, especially so close to the holidays. I was anxious and dysregulated but she was easy to talk to and respectful. When she arrived at my house, she was thoughtful and prepared; she took such good care of several things that I hadn't considered. I carried him upstairs, he got a shot (which he didn't love but I think it was just a quick prick), he rested in bed with me against my leg and I pet him in his favorite spot between his shoulder blades while I talked to Dr. Parent (I have read that they are comforted by hearing the sound of your voice), soon he fell asleep, and then few minutes later he was gone. Selfishly it feels unbearable to be without him but I know he is no longer suffering. During our last difficult days together I promised him I would make sure he felt better as soon as possible, and his final moments in life were painless, comfortable, peaceful, in his home and resting in bed with me. I am grateful to Dr. Parent for making that possible. My hope is that other people in a similar situation with their pet will be able to find her the way I found her which was through these Yelp reviews.

My cat had stopped eating, was isolating himself, and it was clear that a variety of circumstances were catching up with him. Even in the midst of my own struggles I was so impressed with how once we arrived at the decision to euthanize, Katie became a compassionate caregiver for me as well as the cat. I will always be grateful for how she helped both of us through the experience.

One of the vets (I believe Dr.Martin) was the only vet that I felt comfortable with. The owner is rude, inconsiderate, and lacks any kind of compassion for the pets or their owners. She talks to you like you should know as much as she does. I had started taking my cats to this vet back in 2015/2016. From day one, I noticed that they had no patience for the pets that they "take care of" and they had no patience for the pet owners. Whenever an issue would arise, it was up to me to call and inquire. The vet almost NEVER reviewed anything that was listed in the breakdown that is provided once your appointment is over (the breakdown includes weight and health related notes.) My senior cat ended up developing HCM ( Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy ) which developed into Congestive Heart Failure. When the office noticed that he had a heart murmur, not only did they not talk to me about it, but they also told me to not worry about it when I called to inquire about the breakdown. Come the next appointment, the vet asked me if I had looked into his heart murmur. What? You told me that it was nothing. That nothing turned into a life changing and ending situation. For reference, my cats pro-BNP levels were at 1500 with the range of concern at 270+. Now, vets cannot know everything, and I don't expect them to. What I do expect is that they will discuss what they find with the pet owners, and be as informative as possible. Medford Pet Clinic dropped the ball in this area on more than one occasion. When Congestive Heart Failure took my cat away from me, I called the office to tell them of his passing. They didn't offer condolences. They didn't send me a card. They acted like they didn't care. Like he was just a way to get money. I took him to their office for nearly a decade, and I am so taken aback by their lack of care. My cats Cardiologist, who he had only seen 3 times, both left me a voice-mail and sent a card. Let's move onto my dog. I took him to the office when he was a puppy, and the vet was immediately confrontational with me over his temperament and where I got him from. Once again, she acted like I should have known as much as a vet knows. Over the course of years, this office consistently traumatized my dog by their lack of patience and understanding. Instead of taking their time with an obviously anxious dog, the owner shoved a muzzle onto him, when he was a puppy, and told me that he was aggressive. For reference, my dog is completely fine with other vets. In fact, he has had ZERO issues with his new vet. I took him to the Revere office, and I was equally upset with my experience. I brought him to get his teeth cleaned, which is a daylong procedure. When I came to pick him up, the representative threw him into my arms and he was DRENCHED in his own urine. On top of this, the office did not provide any instructions with the medication that I needed to give him, forcing me to call and ask. There are other minor things that annoy me about the Medford office specifically. They book appointments and you end up being taken 20 to 30 minutes late every single time. This results in them making you feel like you are taking up too much of their time, and the appointments feel rushed. On a number of occasions, I had to remind them of when my older cat needed blood work, and I don't feel that is acceptable on the part of the office. When you call, they are very rude and place you on hold for extended periods of time. When I called to ask for the documentation for my remaining pets, the office acted like I wasn't nearly a decade long customer and offered no indication that they even cared that I was going elsewhere. Please do not take your pet here. I am more than ecstatic that I found a new office where I feel like my pet's matter to the vets who are helping me take care of them. Never again will I support this establishment.

I thought the price of the visits were very reasonable compared to other places I've been in the area. I also appreciated the transparency with the pricing. my cats were handled with ease and everyone was very nice. The place itself is very clean and comfortable and there is a parking garage right next door w hich is awesome. I like the ability to book online and they also saw us as a walk in this week when my cat had an asthma flare up. I was very impressed with the vet we saw, she def gave us plenty of attention answered all the questions although she would have to run out when her appointments showed up but I respected that she wasn't keeping her scheduled patients waiting as they were very busy that day and they were accommodating us walking in while they were completely booked. The girl at the front desk was so nice, and offered to get us an appointment at another location that had availability if I wanted, but I wasn't in a rush so it was fine to hangout until they had some time to see us. We decided to make them our primary vet. Thank you for being so caring and kind to my animals ! :)

DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU CARE ABOUT ABOUT YOUR PET…read more Today I had one of the worst healthcare experiences of my life at Bond Vet - Somerville. Full story below. My dog has been a Bond Vet patient for years. Last week, he was treated for an issue that did not resolve with the prescribed antibiotics. I called the Somerville office last night to explain my concerns about his ongoing symptoms and was instructed that I should bring him in right away this morning for an emergency appointment. When I arrived, there were 0 other patients in the office - all exam rooms were empty, as was the waiting room. I asked the receptionist, Hannah, how long I should expect to wait and she informed me that Dr. Rahel Lungo was in the back doing paper work and would not be able to see my pet. I explained that I had specifically taken time off from work to bring my pet in, per the office's insturctions, and expressed my confusion that a veterinarian could not take a few minutes to evaluate a sick patient already sitting in the clinic. Despite this, I was told there was "nothing they could do" and was directed to drive to another Bond Vet location 30 minutes away. I found the entire interaction unacceptable. This was one of the least patient-centric healthcare experiences I have ever encountered. The issue was not capacity constraints or an overwhelmed office - the clinic was visibly empty. The issue was a complete lack of accountability, urgency, and basic compasion from Dr. Rahel Lungo. It is deeply concerning to me that a veterinary organization that positions itself as modern and customer-focused would treat a long-standing patient in this manner. As a result of this experience, I will no longer be bringing my pet to Bond Vet. To Bond Vet - I encourage you to assess if this a problem isolated to Dr. Rahel Lungo or if this is a broader reflection of Bond Vet's position on patient care.

Not for vet reactive pets…read more Prior to this month, I was satisfied overall with Porter Square Vet despite some mild issues, primarily around communication. I don't generally publish complaints but due to the vets unwillingness to discuss their errors, I feel obligated to warn any pet owners with vet-reactive dogs. When I moved to Somerville and brought my dog to Porter Square Vet, I was transparent that my dog is vet reactive. I mentioned that he doesn't like the vet in general but that he doesn't tolerate exams. I also mentioned that I had previously used a fear free vet who was willing to do sedation for annual exams / as needed to ensure adequate care. I was told we could consider that if it proved to be necessary. At my dog's first exam with them, I was given recommendations for dental hygiene products, which i purchase and utilized. At his last exam, I specifically asked about dental cleanings, as I had noticed a good amount of plaque build up on my dogs teeth when I was brushing them. The vet looked at my dogs mouth briefly and I was told it was necessary at that time. I brought my dog in this month due to non-specific behavior changes as well as some dietary issues and worsening bad breath. The vet offered a dental cleaning/check, which I agreed to. The procedure overall went fine, but I was told my dog had significant periodontal disease and that they had removed 14 teeth which was confusing considering I was told a dental clean was not warranted just 5 months prior. Upon voicing my frustration, I was told "the vet was unable to exam his teeth due to being muzzled for the exam." My dog requires additional vet care for which I sought a different practice since Porter Square Vet was unable to develop or follow an appropriate care plan and Porter Square Vet has now opted to ignore me.

I didn't mind having to drive out from Boston and I felt confident in the practice he had built. I admit I was disappointed on one occasion maybe 2 years ago with the service a couple of years ago (I felt rushed) but I gave my feedback and things immediately improved thereafter. I think it was bumpy as everyone adjusted to the practice being bought out by private equity. That's really difficult for the staff and doctors because they want to provide care but the entity wants to funnel animals through to make big bucks. Anyway, I put my dog down a few days ago at Thrive. The technicians on staff the morning of 2/13 and Dr. Shinohara were incredibly compassionate and made me feel so supported in what was a very difficult decision. As it is for all pet owners who have to say their inevitable goodbyes, the experience of letting him go is something that will always stay with me. I am grateful to Dr. Shinohara and her team for being so intentional and caring Friday morning. It was peaceful and I wouldn't have wanted it to unfold any other way than it did.
