If I could give 0 stars I would. Absolutely appalled by my encounters here. If you want to feel like you or your pet are cared for, LOOK ELSEWHERE! You might save some money if you do. I woke up to my cat acting very odd and I was very concerned. I'm not very familiar with the area, and called a few offices near me. None were seeing new/emergency patients due to wait lists, but finally Porter said they'd see him. It was 10:24am and they asked how far away I lived. I said about 10 minutes and that I had to get my cat in the carrier still, and they told me I had the 10:30 appointment slot. I arrived at 10:40am, called to be let in and was told I had missed my appointment time. They were still willing to see him, but weren't sure when (which was fine, I had nothing else to do and wanted my cat better). After about 2 hours, they called me to let me know they had found nothing wrong and would run his blood work to figure more out. I was transferred to billing, who charged me $330. I got my cat back and went home, expecting a happy and healthy kitty once my blood work and a treatment plan came the next day. At 4:30pm, my cat seemed worse. I decided to do an evaluation of the cat myself. I instantly noticed a grey/yellow puss flowing from his right ear (picture attached), which is never a good sign! I took pictures and called the office immediately to ask if I could email them to someone to show them and help them with their diagnosis, and possibly speed up the process of him getting treated! The woman I spoke to on the phone went to ask the Dr. and came back and said that the doctor had checked his ear and had seen nothing, so they weren't sure what I was seeing but it was not indicated earlier. This seems impossible from my medical knowledge, because puss usually indicates a rupture or serious infection. I begged to send photos and get some help for my cat, and the woman on the phone interrupted and YELLED at me "OLIVIA. The Dr. looked in his ear and saw nothing. If you don't like what you're hearing you can go to an ER or wait for your blood work tomorrow." I was shocked and crying and hung up. I couldn't go to an ER after being charged $330 that day! I woke up periodically through the night to check on my cat, panicked due to the lack of care and support, and woke up to call as the office opened at 8am. I called to ask again if I could send the pictures to anyone, and they told me my only option was to come back in for my cat to be seen and reassessed, and PAY MORE MONEY. I refused to pay more money for them to look at something they had missed on their exam the day before and that I had found and had been trying to show them. I couldn't afford it and simply didn't trust them at this point! The woman on the phone then told me she understood and that "emergency appointments are shorter than usual appointments and that the dr. did the best they could with the short time," which to me sounds like an excuse to do a short and not thorough exam! I decided to wait a few more hours for the Dr. to call me with my blood results and see if I could beg her for help again. After 4 more hours, I called back and asked if my blood results were in. They said yes and I was so frustrated and absolutely offended by their lack of respect for me and my pet, that I had them forward the blood work to me, and I went off to a MUCH better and MUCH cheaper ER. Within 2 minutes of being in the door, the Dr. found a large and now ruptured abscess right on the edge/outside of the ear. She gave him a thorough cleaning, a long lasting antibiotics shot, shaved off the fur on the side of his face because it was matted and crusted from the puss, gave him treats, and put a cone on him to protect the ear. All for less than $250. The next day, the Dr. had called to check on me and my pet and see how he was doing. Unfortunately, the following day, my cat was acting weird again and I called her back. She had concern that he was having an adverse reaction to the medication she gave or was constipated, so we went back. She remembered how concerned I was for my finances, after having paid Porter Square Vet so much money to disrespect me and do nothing helpful. She didn't charge me a cent for the second/follow up visit. Now, my cat is all back to normal and happy again, all thanks to the second vet we saw. Wish I had never gone to Porter, would have saved me quite a bit of money and time. An absolutely disgusting experience.

Going to go to Porter Square vetranarian.

From the moment we called ahead to say we were on our way, the staff were incredibly responsive and ready for us when we arrived. They quickly assessed the situation, diagnosed the issue, and carried out the necessary procedures. The clinic itself was very clean, welcoming, and well equipped. Dr. Estes explained everything clearly--what was happening, the prognosis, and what we should do next. The techs / nurses--Kim Nguyen, Kendra Baker, and Jennifer Ducharme--were also wonderful: professional, patient, and very caring. They were attentive throughout the entire process while our Pomeranian was undergoing sedation, and you could tell they genuinely cared. I'm sure they see situations like this every day, but they still treated our dog with the attention and care he needed. Small things like that matter. These are clearly very capable people who could work in many different fields--including human medicine--but they choose to care for pets, and it shows. I would absolutely recommend this clinic and would return again if needed. My one tip: call ahead so they can prepare for your arrival.

She needed immediate care, and many places were closed by that time. It was about 9pm, luckily VEG ER was open, we called and brought our hamster 15 minutes later. They immediately jumped into action checking her symptoms and seeing whatever they could do to help her. Eventually, we were told that she had Urinary Tract Infection, we were offered a few solutions, but one of the main veterinarians who was helping, gently told us the likely outcome. We were able to say goodbye to the hamster, and my daughter got to hold her up to almost the end. They led us into a room so that my daughter and I could discuss next steps, they gave us time and they were very understanding. When we received our pet in her urn, we also received a handwritten card with the signatures of all the VEG ER employees who were telling us that they were sorry for our loss. It was a very sentimental time, and we appreciate everything that VEG ER did for us. If anything every happens to your pet, I recommend VEG ER because of their kindness, also, they are open 24/7 so there is always someone there to help you and your beloved companion.

This time with my cat Joyce I hoped to find a vet who could come to our home. I was so relieved when Dr. Parent answered the phone and was available, especially so close to the holidays. I was anxious and dysregulated but she was easy to talk to and respectful. When she arrived at my house, she was thoughtful and prepared; she took such good care of several things that I hadn't considered. I carried him upstairs, he got a shot (which he didn't love but I think it was just a quick prick), he rested in bed with me against my leg and I pet him in his favorite spot between his shoulder blades while I talked to Dr. Parent (I have read that they are comforted by hearing the sound of your voice), soon he fell asleep, and then few minutes later he was gone. Selfishly it feels unbearable to be without him but I know he is no longer suffering. During our last difficult days together I promised him I would make sure he felt better as soon as possible, and his final moments in life were painless, comfortable, peaceful, in his home and resting in bed with me. I am grateful to Dr. Parent for making that possible. My hope is that other people in a similar situation with their pet will be able to find her the way I found her which was through these Yelp reviews.
