They really get to know their clients and make working out enjoyable. The bootcamps that I attend seem to fly by! They are super knowledgable and are always willing to help you work on whatever you feel you need to work on. It's a positive atmosphere where you can feel free to ask questions and share some laughs. They have really fun and interesting monthly group activities that you can sign up for. ShockYard also gives back to the community by participating in workouts and tying them into some kind of community service. They've participated in kickball tournaments to raise money for dog rescues, Relay for Life walks, and kayaking and hiking while cleaning up Morton Park. Over the past four years, they have purchased new equipment, and bought adjacent buildings/rooms to give their customers more space and selection. The staff is very friendly and flexible for students and people coming in and out of Ithaca as long as you're upfront with them. As a gym alone, it's certainly the best gym in Ithaca amongst it's competitors, and one of my favorites that I've ever been apart of.

This space is warm and welcoming and all the instructors have been wonderful while also being completely unique in their focus and delivery. I started January with the unlimited membership (which I highly recommend) so I've taken Facial Refresh, Core XIIT, Pilates (mat) and TRX classes. Each class and each instructor has something different to offer, and with the small class sizes you feel like a part of the community immediately. From week to week the instructors remember specific injuries (to recommend modifications), goals and other pieces that are so important to substantial growth in strength and stamina. The online system is very easy to use to sign up for classes and the cancellation policy is extremely fair. Being right in the heart of Fall Creek with ample parking, the commute there is never a problem. In addition, the class times are perfect for my schedule and they have so many various classes to offer, it's so much more than just Pilates! Finally, they even have online classes if you can't make it in-person on a specific day, which I have also used and found to be extremely beneficial. I really can't recommend Vellidan enough. As a mom of two young children, this was the reminder I needed that feeling strong doesn't need to mean high intensity workouts with guaranteed injuries. Pilates is highly focused core work that is low intensity with a laser focus on correct form rather than overexertion. In just one month I already feel stronger and can feel my balance and core strength improving significantly. It's in a convenient location for people living near the Commons, has a decent number of cardio and weight machines, and offers yoga and dance classes that are included in the price of membership. Student memberships are available for $178 a semester or $326 for two semesters. I think they are expanding the gym once Cinemapolis moves into its new space, but I'm not sure when that might happen. I like the relaxed environment and most of all the convenient location. I'm so glad I don't have to schlep up to campus or drive somewhere to go to the gym. I wish they were open later than 9:00 on weeknights and 6:00 on Saturdays and Sundays, but they do open wicked early in the morning.

But here I am, Ms. Ruthy coming in 7 days a week, not to brag , but sometimes I'm working out even twice a day!! Cuz I love it that much. Look I only have good things to say about FLX Fitclub. The instructors are so friendly, enthusiastic and very helpful. Everyone I have met in the classes have been so kind and welcoming. The gym itself is always really clean, organized and everything is wiped down after it has been used. So far I haven't taken a class that I didn't like. I feel like there are a lot of different options, depending on what your looking for. I really enjoy their cycling classes. Body pump is a must. I've felt comfortable enough to try things that I have never tried before like Barre, it was definitely harder then it looks. Then Sh'Bam was something I'd never thought I'd like and It is SO much fun. The class goes by so quickly. I love the Bodyflow and core classes on Fridays. It's a Great workout to do back to back, You feel very zen and sweaty. I have yet to try BodyCombat, BodyAttack and Grit. Not gonna lie, I'm a little nervous, but I'll report back and let you know what I think.
