ANYTHING to do with Dr. Clewell and her office -- from booking the appointment to seeing the doctor to speaking with billing -- is always easy, swift, and worry-free. Her staff members are personable, professional, friendly, truly helpful, and knowledgeable. I had negative experiences before finding her and her office. I feel comfortable with the doctor and her staff, and usually struggle with a bad case of White Coat Syndrome such that the fear drives up my BP, but I feel so supported and calm there. Dr. Clewell is evidently "in my corner" and will discuss the pros and cons of all manner of care, from tests to lab work to medication to referrals, and has given me solid advice about what to do next that has always served me well. The office dropped my insurrance and did not tell me for 6 months until I needed my prescription refilled and then they told me to pay in cash in order to get it renewed. Dr Clewell and her staff go above and beyond in every way. She is a caring and thorough doctor who looks at the big picture and works collaboratively with her patients. She looks deep into causes and will test as needed to determine what is going on. Her staff is extremely competent and pleasant and I've never had a billing issue as Tammie is do thorough. Stephanie is always patient with my questions and gets answers quickly and accurately. Karla is incredible! My son was terrified of needles and she got him over that to take blood and do vaccines. Misdiagnosed me. Md Clewell send out a template letter that my bloodwork was fine, except for one item. I had to request the original lab paperwork just to see all values for myself. Big surprise, one other value was way above the normal range. Since a follow- up visit is not included in her yearly wellness check ( which should be) I had to make a separate appointment and pay regular copay for a short phone call with md Clewell .. only to hear excuses. Money wasted. BIG RED FLAG! Charges extra to perform in-office blood work/ Urin testing. Overfilled Urin cabby in the bathroom was gross. Had to go in twice for Urin testing because they could not find my results. They also push their overpriced supplements . Very upsetting and disappointing read more

Dr. Clewell is very knowledgeable, and informative. The remainder of her staff is not. When I went in for my appointment, the nurse was unable to draw blood from my arms and had to poke both my arms to get a sample. The sample I paid additional money for the nurse to take in the office, as opposed to for free at the lab, was sent to the wrong lab. So I had to go to a lab on a different day to provide them with yet another sample. When I was called with the results, the staff member I spoke with did not have complete information and couldn't find my updated information with my most recent visit in their system - which made me question the accuracy of the information I was receiving. Finally, I was able to get all of my results after a few weeks. Fortunately everything was normal, and I felt relieved I didn't have to deal with Dr.Clewell's staff anymore - but I was wrong. I received four additional calls and voice-mails in regards to the same test results, each time leaving me worried there was another oversight and something had gone wrong. I understand mistakes happen and that they have a busy office, but their lack of attention to detail is frustrating and disappointing. read more

I have been to see Dr. Clewell twice now. The first was 4 months ago. I waited about 5 minutes to be seen. Each step of my visit, someone explained what was next and how long each step would take (I was there 45 minutes total). Dr. Clewell was courteous, kind, and took the time to ask the right questions and listen to the answers. She ordered blood tests for a concern we both had. Fortunately they came back negative. I wasn't sure how my new insurance worked, so they billed my insurance, and mailed an invoice for the difference. This worked well for me. I will continue to see Dr. Clewell as my doctor. Do not go here! The billing woman, I think named Tammy, was extremely rude and defensive towards me when I questioned my bill. I was pregnant and desperate for a covid test and could not find anywhere that had a same day test other than here. I had a covid test done out of the office by myself and did not see a doctor or nurse. They placed a bag outside the door for me to put my swab in and they collected the bag when I left and sent it to the lab to process. I was charged $100 for an established patient office visit when I wasn't even seen an established patient and wasn't seen in the office. I was told by the woman that takes care of the billing that $100 is what they charge for the nurse to put the test in a bag and fill out the form. She was defensive when I simply asked her why they billed for office visit. They bill everyone like that she said and that I'm responsible for my copay and they would not do me the courtesy of adjusting the copay since insurance already reimbursed 80%. She was very condescending to me. There is a better way to talk to your patients and ease them instead of being rude. It's honestly a matter of principle and how you run your business in the way your speak to your so called "established patient". This office billed for the wrong code just to get extra money and refuses to fix it or write it off. Covid tests are covered by insurance so if they would have billed it correctly I wouldn't have a copay. Needless to say I would not recommend going here as the staff is rude and focused solely on money! read more

I came to this office with high hopes considering the amount of good reviews they have. Unfortunately I have almost nothing good to say about them. This office will charge you for the air you breathe while there. On multiple instances they claimed my insurance would not cover certain things if done on the same day so they forced me go on separate occasions and obviously pay for each visit without any proof my insurance would not cover these things on the same day. Aside from that, the doctor will not even call you with test results until you have paid the copay which the front desk will hound you for before the call even begins, the call she will 100% be late to. I had multiple issues that were "addressed" by this doctor that were not solved so I self referred to specialists who were actually able to help. The office staff, with the exception of the nurse, is completely incompetent and disorganized. They don't ever know what they are talking about, and will not inform you about denied prior authorizations they receive. There is so much I can say about this but instead I'll share my biggest issue with this office. The front desk woman "Stephanie" is by far the rudest and most insensitive person at this office. Not one conversation I ever had with this woman didn't result in me being furious after the way I was treated and spoken to. When I started to question what I was being charged for and why my insurance was not covering it she became defensive and then began to try to insult me by making comments about me not being able to afford the treatments the doctor was recommending. Who is to say I don't have the means to pay for treatment, I just need to be aware of what I am paying for and why my insurance "does not cover" these things. She is extremely disrespectful and does not care about anything other than collecting your money and treating you like you're beneath her. Lastly I decided to go to another office, due to many reasons, and they refused to send my new doctor any of my records until I paid a fee for them to do so. DO NOT COME TO THIS OFFICE!! read more

Dr. Kathy Clewell saved my son's life. I took him to the emergency on a Friday night, and the doctor on call (not Dr. Clewell), removed his appendix. He removed it negligently, causing it to rupture. He then put my son on an antibiotic, instead of vacuuming his pelvis. For a week after the surgery, my son could not hold down food, and was very sick. I took him to the emergency twice, back to the doctor that originally performed the surgery (who told me that my son was sick from the antibiotic and to take him off), and to two other doctors, who told me that he had Ileus from the surgery and that it would pass. As a mother, I knew it was something more. I heard about Dr. Clewell, so thought I would try taking my son to her. She found out right away that he needed emergency treatment, and called me in the evening on the day that we saw her. She found that based on my son's high white blood cell count he had a serious infection, and she called the emergency to tell the doctors that we were on our way, and to check my son for an abscess. It turned out that he did have an abscess due to the emergency room doctor's negligent removal of his appendix, which thanks to Dr. Clewell, was treated. She continued to check on my son, even throughout the weekend, and even after he went back to the hospital, to be sure that he was receiving proper care. I have been to many doctors, but have never been to one as thorough, intelligent, and caring. Now, she is not only my son's doctor, but mine as well, and we will always be loyal patients! There should be more doctors out there like Dr. Clewell; she represents what good medicine and being an excellent doctor are all about. I saw this provider on Sept 20 2013 and was charged 80 dollars for what was supposed to be a 40 dollar copay. The insurance company confirmed that a check had been sent to the doctor for my visit. Irregardless of the check I should have been refunded for the erroneous copay. A 3 way call with the insurance company in October resulted in a promise from billing to refund the error. They never did so. At the end of the first week in November, I have called the insurance company to file a complaint. I will not see this provider again. read more

Dr. Clewell seems lovely. I used this office for travel immunizations. Here are some observations: 1. They do not bill your insurance for travel immunizations they make you submit it, so be prepared to pay for the services. 2. They only take visa, MasterCard, and cash. No checks or American Express. 3. Their patient sign in sheet is not HIPPA compliant and protecting the privacy of their patients is a little lax. There were charts everywhere. The administrative staff might could use some improvement. It was a fine experience, the nurses were skilled in giving injections. read more

DO NOT trust your Heath to this dr!!! If I could give negative stars I would. My mother went to visit Dr Clewell for hip and leg pain. Upon arriving to the appointment she suffered a bout of tachycardia and her bps as 167/137 (normal for her is 90's over 60's). The dr did NOTHING!!!! Told her not to drink caffeine. Didn't even recheck her heart rate and bp before sending her home!!!! Now she is in the hospital (2 days later) for a full cardiac workup and observation. What doctor does this???? Dr. Kathy Clewell has been my doctor for several years now and I find her to be the most caring, competent doctor I have ever been to. She is highly professional yet very easy to talk with. She goes the extra mile to ensure that whatever the problem I present, a plausible explanation is found. I travel 36 miles each way to see her when I could see a doctor just 4 miles away but I feel her expertise and care are worth the trip. I also appreciate that she practices holistic medicine and is willing to try supplements when appropriate instead of drugs which come with possible side effects. On one of the Dr's Websites, it states that her area of focus is Geriatrics. When I tried to make an appointment for my 82 year old mom, I was told that Dr Clewell does not accept patients over 80 years old!! When I looked up the meaning of Geriatric it says that it is "relating to old people, especially with regard to their health care". Went to her for a VA exam and had multiple issues with documentation from specialist, yet after finally getting a copy of her exam I find that her documentation was incorrect and inadequate. All she wanted to do is get you in and out of there so she could fill out the paperwork and get paid. I have multiple things that are incorrect in her documentation. I would not recommend this physician, she has poor attention to detail and I am uncertain that she should be doing these types of exams. I am not writing this because I am disgruntled due to my VA rating, but because the main things that were causing me issues with she totally disregarded and misdocumented. I am uncertain how someone who see you briefly should hold higher weight than specialist that you have been seeing on an ongoing basis. I feel she simply does these VA exams for the money, not to truly evaluate anyone, and certainly not to provide any information. read more

I saw Dr Clewell as a second opinion and liked her so much that I changed her to my primary care doctor. If I could give zero stars I would. Prescribed Zpack for the flu. Went to the urgent care several days later and they actually did something that helped, breathing treatments for my crackling and clogged up lungs, and they said I was close to being hospitalized, and they couldn't understand why I was given a ZPak. She also prescribes medications, in VERY SMALL quantities so you have to keep paying your co-pay. The final straw with me is not being able to speak to her directly, and after leaving me waiting ALL DAY, her office called back and refused to call in pain meds after I had a very bad accident. They told me to take 2 advil with food. I felt extremely offended, like she was assuming i was just trying to obtain drugs for no reason! I asked to speak with her and was told she was not available. But they graciously offered me an appt the next day, but since I have a job, and had a meeting during that ONE available time, I was not able to go. STAY CLEAR OF THIS DOCTOR IF YOU ENJOY COMPASSION AND GOOD MEDICAL CARE. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. This office is a joke, all the doctor cares about is making more money. I have been a patient of hers for a few months and I do not plan on going back at all. The office is very unorganized there are charts everywhere, which worries me about patient privacy. I have been in the larger of the rooms about three times during my visits and the pillow has the same tears that it had the first times I visited. It is very unprofessional, even the doctor's main medical assistant talks trash about the doctor while in room with the patients. Since I have been her patient at the beginning of the year she has had many different staff members, I feel bad for the employees they seem to be juggling many duties at once. They look stressed and overworked.Maybe the doctor should take a step back and see that she is the problem and reason why she is going through so many employees. Another thing that gets to me is not being able to speak to the doctor herself. If you want to speak to the doctor you must do so during your appointment because if you try to speak to her after your appointment you will have no luck. You will literally play phone tag with her and her receptionists, she will have them call you and tell you her response and once you respond they will send her a message and call you back when the doctor decides to respond. I had to walk past the doctors office during one of my visits because I went the wrong way and came across the doctors office. Let me just say it was a complete mess, there were charts EVERYWHERE! On the floor, on her desk, piles of charts just everywhere. Needless to say I will no longer be returning to this office, I am also sure this doctors office will not be running much longer if it continues to be ran this way. read more
