I received a gift card from habitat for humanity Indian River for Kata - $75. When I went to use it they claimed that their machine wasn't working, and we paid another way. I went back to use the card, and they came back to me stating that it had a zero balance. They clearly skimmed it the first time I was there. I'm glad that I checked before ordering the second time I was there. This is very bad business, very unethical, and I will never go there again. I recommend to everyone I know to not bring their business to Kata. Bad Business practice. I'll go somewhere with integrity all day long. read more

We decided to try a new place (to us) on Friday and my Fiance had seen this place on our drives around town. read the reviews and said it sounds good let's give it a try. The decor was nice and atmosphere was good until the whiny voiced chic decided to sing Karaoke!! I left with a headache!! The menu is quite varied with a number if vegetarian and vegan options. The lunch special includes a small salad, spring roll, and a variety of entrees for 8.95. A decent value and the fact that the food is well prepared and tasty makes this a nice place to visit. I had the Pad Thai, without egg, and enjoyed the presentation enough that I plan to go back regularly to sample other menu offerings. read more

First, I want to say that the quality of the food here is fine, and some of the Thai dishes are very good. The reason I am disappointed in Kata is the boring bland sushi. The variety is terrible. They serve the same basic 4 or 5 fish that you can get in any grocery store sushi case. The owner never buys anything other than the basics. I would hate to be a sushi chef here - no challenge and no art. Just basic boring rolls and sushi. We have been here multiple times but lately the service has changed. They are not as friendly and good. I am very disappointed and don't really want to come back. Food was not well cooked and waitresses were extremely rude. I have spoken with the owner and he apologized but I won't hold my breath. Don't want to eat here again. read more

Kata is my favorite Asian restaurant in Vero and I've eaten at them all. Huge menu and the freshest sashimi. I actually think Vero Beach has great sushi spots but this gives biggest portions too. Even let my mom and I come in right as they were closing for lunch but still accommodated us . Highly recommend to everyone. read more

service was very lacking. i personally know very well what serving and managing an asian restaurant can be like and i wish i could say that they had a good reason but i was very unimpressed especially since there werent many other customers there. id give them less stars just for the bad service but the sushi was great. tom yum was ok but far less flavorful than what i'm used to in gainesville. if i ever go back to this one i'll try to get a different server and hope that that helps make it a better experience. read more

Giving 3 Stars now but will update as I go back more times. My wife and I ordered 3 dishes so we could try a little more. The spicy noodles is a Thai dish that was pretty good. I have had it better at other restaurants but it was still pretty good. My wife had the Volcano chicken which is a sweet chili paste sauce on tempura chicken. The flavor of the sauce and the crispy chicken was very good. I did not care for the teriyaki chicken. Honestly, I have never had it the way they served it. It was a chicken breast cut on the diagonal with the sauce spread over top of it. The sauce was nothing like any teriyaki sauce I have ever had before. It looked more like bbq sauce and did not taste like normal teriyaki sauce. Also, they served it over a pile of raw cabbage, carrots and cooked broccoli. The hot chicken on top caused the water from the raw cabbage to drain into the plate and made the bottom of the plate full of water. The same happened on the volcano chicken dish. If you get either of these dishes, ask them to hold the raw vegetables. We liked the casual environment and the servers were all very nice. Looking forward to trying other dishes. Will probably lean toward the Thai dishes in the future. read more

We were here the other night and decided to come back because the food was so great. Volcano roll was excellent. We also had the shrimp tempura which was also great and presentation was beautiful. We'll be back again. We typically go early as the restaurant fills up. read more

This is the best sushi in Vero. We used to love Sumo House, but find that Kata is much fresher. Love their seaweed salad and the Lyndal roll. My fiancé is also a big fan of the spicy chicken fried rice. We're kinda sushi snobs so I was happy to find a great staple. read more

Great food, great service, servers are very helpful, friendly, and generous -- BUT very poor acoutics - although we loved the food, we won't go back until the dining room is sound proofed (carpet the floor, egg carton the wall... anything!) - we had to yell to hear each other. We went there for Thai food with some friends that liked this place. The Spring Rolls were okay. My wife ordered Chicken Tempura and expected it and the vegetables to be encrusted in a light batter but it was breaded and heavy. My Volcano Chicken also had the same breading. i am very satisfied with this restaurant, probably the best if you order the japanese food. i always order the bento box. the prices are reasonable and the service is pleasant. once i tried a duck dish (crispy duck) and i was very disappointed. the portions are small and i can't find anything crispy in that dish. i will go back again just for the bento box and the pad thai. read more

One of the top places to get good Asian/Tai food. The noodle soup's are great, basically broth, veggies, and noodles. You can spice it up with the jalapeño that's put on the plate, but even without it, it's still good. The iced chai tea is worth the splurge, by the way. read more

One of my favorite local sushi restaurants. I would rate it 5 stars if the price were a little lower. It can be a little pricey.

This was my first time to Kata. The floors were dirty. The tea tasted like it was taken from the dishwater. The pot and tea cups were sticky like they were not washed. I sent the tea back. The food was ok. Had the Basil duck and Tom Kai Ka soup. The waiter was snooty especially when I complained about the tea. Both my girlfriend and I had upset stomachs after we left. Will not go back even for a free meal. read more
