I recently got a Frenchton puppy. I've never had a dog in my life, so this was all new to me. I was bamboozled into getting a puppy by my husband and daughter. I love animals, but never had a dog since I'm super allergic and my mom was terrified of dogs while I was growing up. Fast forward to today when I take extra allergy meds and I am bossed around by a 25lb dog all day every day. I've gone full crazy dog lady! So, the love of my life, I mean my puppy. He's my new little love bug! He's as sweet as can be, but I knew he needed some training to be the best boy ever. I researched high and low to find a good fit for my pup and I. I went for "interviews" with several highly rated trainers in the area only to find out that they used shock collars, which I just could not do on my 10lb dog at the time. He's up to 25lbs now and I still can't imagine using a shock collar on him. After tons of searches, I finally found Karma Dog. It was love at first sight. We are currently doing the puppy kindergarten and the private training. Here's the scoop: -They responded to my emails so quickly! The other places I contacted took several days to respond. Karma always got back with me in a day or less. -Puppy Kindergarten is a bit hit with my little guy. He's loves playing with the other puppies and he's always tired afterwards from getting all of his energy out playing. He's gets to socialize and learn some good behaviors at the same time. Win win. -Kelly S. was our trainer. We did 5 private sessions with her and she is just amazing. She would have my little guy acting like a perfect gentleman within 5 minutes of arriving. She gave us the tools to teach him the good way of doing things. I wish I was a puppy whisperer like Kelly. I still have things to practice with my pup, but she definitely helped us get on the right path ASAP. -Kelly was also so great working with my whole family. She included my 9 year old daughter in all of her training sessions and had her practicing as much as me with the dog. My husband was working a lot, but when he was available, he was involved in the training as well. I loved that Kelly worked with all of us to help us all have a better relationship. -Everyone I have had contact with all seem to really, truly care about animals. You can tell they are animal people who only want to help, not just make money off of you. -It's super convenient and relatively inexpensive for the private lessons, especially compared to some of the other programs I looked at. If you have a pup that could learn a few manners, I would definitely recommend Karma Dog for you. read more

I've been extremely pleased with my experience with Karma Dog Training! I purchased the bundle and my 16 week old goldendoodle is currently in Puppy Kindergarten and we also received a 90 minute private home training. Puppy Kindergarten is great because not only do I get to practice new concepts with her, she gets some of her energy out by socializing with the other puppies! This has been so good for her to not only learn new concepts, but also learn how to act around other puppies and people. I look forward to taking her to her class every week, and ALWAYS learn something new. The private 90 minute in home session, was really worth the price of the entire package for me. Sara was our trainer and is SO knowledgable. She made me feel at ease with my questions, and concerns and I got to see my puppy interact in a way I've never seen before. It gave me a different perspective, and I was able to see how smart my puppy truly is. I was pretty amazed and I really felt that Sara took the time not only to teach her new concepts, but to see what was most important to me as a new dog mom, which I appreciated. Went for the first time yesterday with my puppy Chula. She is 15 weeks old. Went we to the Karma Training at Paz on Cesar Chavez in Austin. My husband, my son and myself all voted in the car to sign her up. We can tell she loved the social part of it, and we all agreed she was making progress on the little drills given. And we also learned a few things we didn't know before. Instructors are very calm, loud and clear, personable, and helpful. Looking forward to the next 8 weeks. read more

We have a high energy Goldendoodle puppy, who is a handful! He was too young to be around other dogs, as he had not finished his necessary vaccinations, BUT, he needed to be socialized, so we were so happy to find out that Karma Dog Training has puppy classes. He had so much fun in the classes, and the playtime with other puppies, was awesome, and tired him out! He learned a lot, and we learned how to better train him. Sara was our trainer, and she was amazing. Saved our sanity, and Dude loved every minute of the classes. Highly recommend! read more

I have mixed feelings about the dog training provided by Karma Dog Training. We took our 2.5 month old German Shepherd to the class mostly to get the dog socialized before we began REAL dog training. The classroom area (at least in Cedar Park) was so cramped! It's bad if you have a dog like ours that was scared of other dogs. There was no where to move. Because our dog barked, they tried to put us in a hallway behind a little fence. I felt like we were being punished :( We left the class after three lessons and are now taking our six month old to a trainer that has his own facility that is MUCH larger without the dogs being on top of one another. So in short, while I learned some good, general techniques about training, they did not help with socialization issues (which is why we were there) and made us feel embarrassed and upset. Angelika is incredible!! We left our 7 week old puppy with her for 5 days of boarding & training. When we came back, he knew how to come, sit, watch me, lay down and a few other tricks. She has given us follow up private sessions and answers questions for us anytime we have them. Now we go to puppy classes 2 times a week and all of the other teachers are great too! We have had a great experience at Karma Dog! Our puppy classes with Jennifer have been super helpful, and we did a board and train with Donna who is amazing. Our pup has a crazy amount of energy which unfortunately comes out as lots and lots of biting, and after two weeks with Donna he was behaving like a little gentleman. She also helped us with potty training and leash walking. She clearly understands dogs and their behavior, and we have learned a lot more about how our little guy's brain works. During our board and train she sent us daily updates, pictures, and videos so we felt like a part of the process. After we brought him home, Donna generously talked with us on the phone and helped troubleshoot when we had questions. We're very grateful to have found Donna, Jennifer, and Karma Dog! read more

Angelika is the best! She worked with Brodie while I was out of town. I had simply asked for her to walk and play with him mid-day to give him an outdoor break. Instead, she taught him some amazing puppy lessons. When she showed me their work and explained the basics of her approach, it was clear that she truly understands doggie behaviors and where Brodie is in terms of puppy training. I can't wait to have her work with Brodie again. He absolutely loves her and has learned so much it's hard to believe. Angelika works magic! read more

My wife and I succumbed to pressure from our kids and got a 7 week old puppy from Austin Pets Alive last November. Both of us were first time dog owners, so needless to say, we had no idea what we were getting into. We got more advice from friends than we wanted. We read a couple of books, but translating instructions from a book into actionable training is tough. From what we read and based on our personalities, we knew we wanted to work with a trainer and training group that focused on positive reinforcements. I think I was just Googling for dog trainers and I came across Karma. I signed our puppy, Sonic, up for a series of 7 puppy obedience classes. We made it a family event, so the wife and kids and I went. From the first class, we knew we made the right decision. Jennifer was the lead trainer and she has nearly superwoman like capabilities to make our puppy obey her every command. Additionally, Jennifer wasn't interested in impressing us with her superpowers. Rather, she made sure we understood "how" we also could train our puppy at home and more importantly, "why" what she was doing worked. She also explained to us the interactions between the dogs in the class and what we perceived as rough housing was actually dogs taking turns playing with each other. After every class, Sonic and the whole family, leave the class with more knowledge, better trained (kids too ;-) ), and a wee bit happier. So far, it has been a great way to spend Sunday mornings and I would definitely recommend Karma for any new dog owners out there.
