Wine just wonderful - Clark & Telephone pino noir - which we enjoyed on Half Price Wednesday. Minestrone soup was wonderful. Vinaigrette on salad delightful. Calamari was overpowered by fried garlic & fried jalapeños. Onion slices were tasteless. Stroganoff was very tasty with steak pieces. Shrimp scampi well done tho the shrimp didn't need to be breaded. We are visiting family in Redding and my husband wanted to treat me to a nice dinner. I got on Yelp and saw the excellent reviews on Karline's Italian Restaurant. I was able to get a reservation. The building is very tidy with good parking. Entering, we greeted and shown to a nice table. We were given a large glass of ice water right away. The restaurant is very clean, and well designed. Our server came to get drink orders and gave us recommendations on some of her favorite dishes. I ordered the chicken marsala with Yukon mashed potatoes and a medley of fresh vegetables. Dinner included soup or salad. Everything was absolutely delicious. My husband ordered pork marsala. He ordered the salad, it was incredible. Blue cheese crumbles, fresh lettuce, tomatoes and delicious blue cheese dressing. It just doesn't get any better! We loved our dinner so much that we made a reservation to return two nights later to celebrate my daughter-in-law's birthday. We had just looked on here and chose this place we had never heard of, for some reason, and waited till' they opened to send someone a birthday meal, and we just payed over the phone and they brought a wonderfullll meal, that they said was soooo good. A Ribeye Steak they said was cooked perfectly, and well done just as we had asked, and they said the Asparagus was cooked perfectly {which is rare to me, everyone makes them too hard}, and Mashed Potatoes also said very good, and a Salad with bleu cheese dressing {also mentioned very good} and a Tiramisu {they were so full but liked} and a piece of Cheesecake, which they will be able to eat all the rest of it tomorrow so that is great they will have food for tomorrow. It was about $85.00, but they got it there delivered still warm and gave them a wonderfullll birthday dinner. I am grateful. And can't wait to try it when we visit. read more

Very disappointing, have wanted to eat here forever after seeing all of their glowing reviews. Went last night with eight friends and were seated in a little back room with no ambience or atmosphere. All we saw were four red walls, felt a little like a prison. We were there by 5:00 and ordered drinks at the table during Happy Hour but were charged full price for our drinks, no Happy Hour prices. Had I known I would have walked to the bar and bought my martini. Ordered the minestrone and it came in a tiny cup and was basically a bowl of beans with no flavor or taste, and lukewarm. The salads looked good and wished I would have opted for that. My husband ordered the lasagna which came as a huge hunk of food and he said it was tasty, only got thru half of it and took the rest home, I ordered the pesto salmon and received a thin tail piece of salmon smothered in pesto with a hard crust on the bottom as it had been cooked too long and too hot and was practically burned on the bottom. It was the first time I had to cut salmon with a knife to eat it. Even the woman next to me commented on that. The linguine was tasty as were the asparagus however the salmon was the star of the dish and was really not eatable, for $35. I would have sent it back but didn't want to make a scene with eight others at the table, but it left a bad taste in my mouth and I won't be anxious to return. Just passing through town and felt like Italian so we yelped. Found this great little gem of a place and super happy we did. We had the spaghetti and fettuccine Alfredo. Both were delicious. They serve bread (May have been Rosemary) and oil and vinegar. So good. The waitress was very friendly and efficient. I wish I would have gotten her name. Had dinner at Karline's tonight. The dinner was pricey but a good meal. The problem came with the bill. It was $91.17. The suggested tip at the bottom of the bill was 15% @ $17.85, 18% at $21.42 , or 20% @ $23.80. Those amounts are incorrect. 15% is $13.68, 18% is $16.41 and 20% is $18.23. Karline's is one of our top 5 restaurants in Redding. We started going there under its previous name Jironda's. The service is excellent. The staff is experienced pros. Last night, Katie was our server. We were raving to her about how obsessed we are with their garlic fries and of all things, that is what got us hooked on Karline's! We have had the ribeye, perfection, Chicken Marsala, Spaghetti with Meatballs, Lasagna, and Osso Bucco to name a few. Everything has been delicious, perfectly prepared and seasoned. Large, comfort-sized portions, not sauce dots! Always take-home boxes! I told our server, Katie we want to adopt the chef! I told her we would love to meet Karline, the owner. Karline also owns, Deja Vu in Redding. Another fantastic restaurant that I shall post a rave review for! I had lunch there yesterday and dinner at Karline's for Mother's Day!! Well, our sweet, expectant mama server, Katie, told Karline about us. Karline came to our table and chatted with us. OMG, after meeting her it was easy to see why her restaurants are so wonderful. She jumps in and is one of her team from serving tables to scrubbing the toilets in the restrooms! Really! She has been in the restaurant business for a very long time and knows what works in a restaurant. She is very shy about receiving praise and very beloved by her staff. Karline, a mother herself worked at both restaurants as well as doing a catered event for 135 people on MOTHER'S DAY!!! Huge kudos to this amazing lady! As if it wasn't an awesome enough evening, Karline sent our chef, Leo to our table! OMG!! Such an adorable guy! We introduced ourselves as "mom and dad!" We went to Karline's a couple weeks back and had a wonderful experience! The bistro au pave was sooo delicious (creamy steaky mushroomy goodness), my husband said his spaghetti and meatballs was the best he has had, and my mother in law loved the fish special she ordered. We also got a couple really tasty and interesting cocktails, a drink with coconut and dark red rum was so good, and my husband got thier version of a dark and stormy with fig. Service was very friendly, and the focaccia bread and dipping oil they give you is the best. ** google describes this restaurant as italian with pizza... There is no pizza, and the menu seems to be more pan-American then Italian. read more

We started with the bruschetta as well as the clams for our appetizer. The bruschetta had fresh tomatoes and a nice kick of sweetness from the balsamic glaze. The butter sauce that the clams came in was good enough to drink . I recommend having some extra bread to dip into it I got the chicken Marsala as my main dish and let's just say I didn't need a Togo box! Chicken was juicy and the sauce was super flavorful. Wow! On 9/22/18, my wife and I were returning to Southern California from Portland, Oregon, and were in the middle of a grueling 18-hour drive when we decided to give ourselves a well-deserved break for dinner. When we found ourselves 30 minutes north of Redding, we trusted YELP to suggest KARLINE'S even though it was not on the town's main thoroughfare. At first, we were concerned because we ended up in a commercial area, and while we were parking, we could see only what looked like a bar area. Did we commit some god-awful mistake by daring to drive a mile from the freeway off-ramp? Not in the slightest! As we walked in past the bar area, we encountered the cooking area, where the staff was busy preparing meals. The fact that the food preparation area could be seen by all was an indicator to me that we would have nothing to worry about. We were not disappointed. We were blessed to be served by Katie, who was fantastic. She managed to combine being gracious, good-humored and deferential. Katie was also exceedingly patient. I had been driving for 8 hours, so it took her some time to explain the subtle but important difference between the "Prime Rib" special and a similar item on the standard menu. The Prime Rib was delicious. My wife chose the Chicken Marsala, and it was probably the best Chicken Marsala I ever tasted! The experience at KARLINE'S was among the top 2 or 3 experiences I have ever had at a restaurant. The food was mouthwateringly delicious, the people were great, and the ambience was just right. On our way out of the restaurant, we even had the opportunity to tell the chef how much we had loved his food, and he seemed to derive genuine pleasure at having heard how much we had enjoyed his creations. If you end up driving on I-5, and you think your best bet is a restaurant in Sacramento, think again. We went here last night to celebrate my birthday and it was EXCELLENT. First off, the salad that preceded the main course was top notch. It had several types leafy ingredients along with blue cheese crumbles for a tasty start. We both opted for their 14 oz. Rib-Eye steak, which was cooked to perfection and tender with great flavor. The vegetables and mashed potatoes were very flavorful and just the right amount. This review is LONG overdue. I don't know that I have ever wished for more stars, but if they had them, I would give them to Karline's. Yelp should add that - a Bonus Star that can be given to exemplary establishments. I am from out of town but had my rehearsal dinner at Karline's a couple months back. We used the back private room for our event with roughly 30 people. It's been too long now, but I wish I could remember the names of the ladies who served us. They were PHENOMENAL. I think they were the managers. Anyway, the food was fantastic. Get the Beet Salad! I wanted to eat it all night. It is the best beet salad I've ever had. The rest of the food was amazing too (salmon, lasagna, chicken marsala with polenta, and fettucini alfredo) - no matter what people ordered, they loved it. We also had a signature cocktail which was delicious. But beyond the food, the service was impeccable. The ladies serving us were so friendly, they were extremely efficient, and they bent over backward to help anyone who needed anything. Over our entire wedding weekend, Karline's is one of the most memorable and favorable places/moments for me. And that's saying something because our wedding was perfect! I cannot thank Karline's enough and I can't recommend them enough. Go there for dinner. And DEFINITELY host your next party there! read more
