Karla's Kitchen is the only Peruvian place I know of in the area, and thankfully, it's good! Karla's is a food stall at Flourtown Farmer's Market. Last I checked, they're open for lunch Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. They serve up a variety of dishes to go or to eat on the spot. We sampled one of their dishes, perused the offerings on display, then made our choices. A friendly staffer warmed up our dishes in their microwave, and we sat by the window and chatted. I got slices of their pot roast, two shrimp skewers, and helping of their escabeche (prices vary per serving, some by weight; credit cards accepted). The food was as tasty as it was colorful: the escabeche was my favorite - the combination of onions, peppers, and sausage were lovely. We didn't get to meet Karla (she was on travel) but at least we enjoyed her cooking.

We've had Karla's cater two events for us. Wow, just wow. The food is outstanding and presentation is amazing. She is also super nice and considerate to any needs you may have. Will be having her cater every future event.

Caprese sliders, sliced flank steak, Peruvian chicken, amazing coleslaw and cheeseboard.

Sweet Box Cupcakes is located in a cute area of Philadelphia. I have been a customer 4 times now…read moreand when I am in the area I try to come back when possible. The The selection of cupcake flavors, and other bakery items is perfect. It is hard to make a decision only because everything looks good. There is not a large amount of items to chose from, it is the perfect amount. My favorite is their chocolate base cakes. They are so good. All their cupcakes are moist and never dry. I do love that they have edible cookie dough, brownies, and cookies. So its like a little for everyone. They have dome seasonal flavors and the basic betty flavors. There is nothing wrong with a basic betty flavor. There are times that I just need a simple chocolate cupcake or a simple take on a chocolate chipp cookie. Their packaging is simple, practical yet cute. Everytime I have been in the staff have been great. They are always warm and inviting. Whenever I ask what a flavor involves, they do not hesitate to inform me. Afterwards you can walk a little further to the corner and get a drink down at a little coffee shop and enjoy your goodies inside.

Sometimes a cupcake can be OVERLY Sweet, but most of the ones I've tried from Sweet Box are just right. The price is a little steep, but it's worth it to support a small biz, especially one as great as Sweet Box.

I thought I'd written a review about this place before but to my shock I had not…read more I have been coming here since the day they opened, infrequently beacuse I am diabetic but when I want to spoil my body with delicious sugar, honey, this is *IT*. Now I could tell you all about how perfectly tasty everything is. From the classic banana puddings (I prefer the caramel version myself,) to the cookies, to the pineapple upside-down mini cakes. Yes, I could tell you that. But I want to speak to something deeper. I want to speak to belonging and community; and to fairness. As a biracial person with a brown sister, I feel the pull to support black and brown businesses. It's not a secret. And sometimes you do it, and sometimes you privately think "Damn. I wanna be supportive but this place is a mess." Then there's Sweet Life. NOT that. FILLED with good product at a great price, delivered by owners and staff who actually give a damn about being loving and supportive to all different types of people. And did I mention the sweets are POPPIN'? And to that statement of fairness. Today I came in to place an order, and when the price came up, for a moment I thought "Damn. That is a lot higher than I remembered, but I am not about to question them. They set the price and that price is what they deserve." So I paid. But then I noticed there was more in my bag that I'd asked for, and that there had been a miscommunication. When I tell you that this miscommunication was corrected with swiftness *AND* a smile. No shade. No drama. Just an "Ooops, oh well, here's your refund on the balance." I know this seems very basic but we all know it isn't. We have all been in that awkward situation where as a customer we have to point out an error, and the vendor turns it into a Shakespearan tragedy. Not Sweet Life. "Oops. Sorry! Fixed. Love you." So, to recap: Stunningly delicious sweets. Prices fair as hell. Communicative, inclusive staff doing the right thing. You need to take those money dollers and haul your ass over here TODAY. Now...where did I put my insulin pen?

Wow! What a beautiful store!…read more Formerly a green house... the interior ambiance is beautiful and feels grand with the incredibly high ceilings and glass everywhere! While we were waiting for food, I explored the store attached. Very cute flower shop and gift boutique. I'm not sure if they share the same owners? If so they should put a sign above the restaurant side door to advertise the shop. Maybe they can get some shoppers after breakfast/lunch? Back to the food, I had the goat cheese and sun-dried tomato quiche ($16) and it was a little too strongly flavored for me. Normally I love these two ingredients on pizza or in pasta, but this was a lot. For me, needed more egg. It didn't stop me from eating it though! We shared a Brioche French toast ($16) for the table, like an appetizer. It had a peach butter that was interesting. I think next time I want to try a Scrambled egg sandwich ($15) and add sausage patties. ($5) I saw a guy get that and it looked amazing. Now he knows how to order!
