So this is about my fifth time visiting this establishment and I have increased to a five star review. Many factors included. Pros. Every meal was overall great with only 2 or less gripes Service has always been pleasant. My spouse picked meal up 30 mins later than online projection. Why? Because I asked for my catfish to be fried hard on a busy sat afternoon. I did forget to inform him of this but the staff was pleasant to my family and the fish was cooked beautifully Yams and Mac delicious Now the straw parfait wow so worth the 10 dollars Lastly the owner thanked me for my previous review Cons a bit pricey for portion of fish, I wish I lived the potato salad tastes like Safeways to me and I wish they sent homemade tartar or remoulade. I love this place. This visit I had the Cajun fish and shrimp. The shrimp was delicious, the fish was tender but not as seasoned as the shrimp. The sides... greens and yams were delish as well. I usually get the smoked chicken which never disappoints but I decided to try something different this time and glad I did. They do have sit down seating and a bar. I've heard about this place for a while, but haven't had hope for soul food in Charles County since we lost J's Soul Food (formerly in White Plains) due to the pandemic. Today I finally decided today was a great time to try KF for a lent Friday fish dinner. You are going to need to be patient. Just call in your order and run an errand or two. It was worth the wait. The fish was seasoned and the mac & cheese was really good. It was not bland and had more than enough cheese. Everything was hot and fresh which is why I didn't mind waiting about 30 mins at all. Overpriced...it's hard to tell when it's open, and food not memorable. The customer service not good either.

I'm sorry, I really wanted to try something new and funny enough it was recommended I try the food here but I did not enjoy my meal. I got there a bit early when it first opened so I was assuming that the food I would receive would be fresh. Unfortunately that didn't seem to be the case as I heard the microwave going while I was waiting for my food but I already paid for it so what can I do now. The food tasted watery, I think that was because of the microwaved cabbage. The rice & beans had no flavoring & very little beans. The jerk chicken was salty and just tasted like heat but no proper seasoning. The inside of the establishment was just as lackluster as the meal. Sometimes I'm able to salvage and enjoy food for later but this I didn't finish and threw away. *sigh* read more

First time customer. My husband and I walked in and were immediately greeted by the bartender - Nolan. He asked us if we wanted to carry out or dine in. I'm excited we have another place serving Caribbean style food in the area. When you walk in, you have to approach the counter to order and give them a name for your order. Alternatively, you could sit and order at the bar. The woman at the register was extremely friendly. It took about 15-20 minutes for our food to arrive but it was clear they were busy with to go orders and folks dining in. There was plenty of seating and I really enjoyed the music selection playing. My husband had the jerk chicken and ribs combo with rice and peas and fried plantains. He ate every bit of it. I ordered the shrimp and salmon combo with rice and peas and cabbage. Both combos came with corn bread. Both my husband and I both loved the cornbread. It was one of the best we've ever had. I did request extra jerk sauce after my meal arrived because I personally felt it could use a bit more. I took one star off because my meal came with two pieces of salmon and one tasted slightly fishy. I'm a pescatarian so I eat a lot of seafood. Salmon isn't the mildest fish but the one filet didn't taste quite as fresh as the other. However, there was so much food I couldn't even eat both pieces anyway, just something the restaurant might want to be aware of. The cabbage and rice and peas were excellent. My husband got a piece of strawberry shortcake and I had a few bites and it was amazing as well and was a huge portion. We live about 40 minutes from the restaurant. So i just left maybe a few mins ago. Before i even try my food the service from the cashier was lackluster. She seemed to be grouchy. When i asked about the crabcakes she tells me they do not have any when they have it written on the window outside and i see it in the menu. She states there are only crabcakes egg rolls. Ok cool not about to argue with someone who maybe handling my food later. But that interaction made me not want to come back even tho this place was recommended to me by my colleagues. read more

The mac& cheese was worth the trip alone they were so good. The collards were ok but I've had better. My husband said the cabbage and yams were delicious. Heard so many great comments about this spot so I had to check it out for myself. This might not be your "5 star" restaurant but the food is 5 stars. Hands down they must have someone's grandma in the back. Everything from this place is outstanding. It's good food with the kick you're looking for. Everything is tasty but some recommendations, jerk rib, jerk chicken, Cajun salmon, and the Cajun shrimp Mac and cheese. The sides are so good you on there own you can eat just them and be happy. I got the Oxtail Rasta Pasta and mac n' cheese, after hearing for years about how amazing oxtail is from some of my friends. Charged a 4% card service fee, 10% service fee, on top of the 15% tip I left them in good faith before my order. Waited 35 minutes; almost thought they forgot about me. Didn't bother bringing me the mac ahead of time as I chose to eat-in. I'm okay to wait if what I eat is good, but it was not. By the time I sunk my teeth in, food was cold. All of it. Pasta was soggy. Green onions weren't fresh. Beans overly soggy. Whole thing tasted like frozen food heated up from a microwave. I did to some extent enjoy the oxtail, was nice. Try this joint out for the first time based on the reviews. This is a carry out restaurant with the option to sit and eat . The fist thing we noticed on the receipt while we waited for our food is that in addition to the sales tax they charge you a 4% cc service fee and a 10% service charge. There is no notice or any explanation so that as consumers we have the option to go elsewhere. I guess the service charge is for when they bring the food to the table. The food was not good. Listen! It's not often that I try a place and everything is good. This is at the top of my list and I will be making the trip back soon! We ordered the Restaurant Week special, which was 10 jerk wings for $10. I wanted to try the smoked chicken so I ordered a side of it. We also ordered the Cajun salmon and shrimp with a side of Mac & Cheese and collard greens. Every single thing was TORCH (great). Those were the best greens I've probably ever had. I give everything 5 stars. Mix the jerk wings with the bbq sauce for an additional amazing taste. We also ordered the Rum Punch slushy and White Peach slushy. Both great. Then we decided to try the beef patties and coco bread. Both really good. I recommend this place and will tell everyone about it. I almost forgot to mention the service. In 2020, as we were leaving Labor, I vaguely remember my husband and I running into a man who stopped us telling us he was opening up a restaurant. Fast forward 1 yr later I decided to place a large order: whole chicken meal with 2 lrg sides, salmon and shrimp meal, rata pasta, ox tails and some extra sides. 1st off the portions are incredible, the customer service was impeccable when I came in to pick up the order and the taste was delicious. Quick dinner pick up for Date Night with my Hubby. I wanted to try something a little different. So I decided to try here on the Advice of my Sister. My a husband has been craving oxtails so I I ordered Oxtails Mac and cheese with greens for him and I had smoked chicken and he was going to have to share his greens.. Yep.
