It's the most beautiful shop a real Hallmark store they are few and far between. They have such a wonderful selection of cards and an even bigger beautiful collection of gifts. You can find something for anyone in the store. They even have the Hallmark ornaments and precious moments going here reminds me of my childhood and my mother such a warm fuzzy feeling in a Hallmark store and this one has it. read more

This Hallmark store is probably my favorite gift shop in the valley!! It has so many great gift ideas AND Hallmark Ornaments (my favorite). I know if I need a unique item for someone who has everything, I'll find it here!! Be sure to look for Rusty, she's awesome! Man, it pains me to write a bad review about a Hallmark store but Ive visited here twice now in two months and both times the customer service here is HORRIBLE. My first visit in November was going OK until my African American husband joined me in the store from parking the car. I picked up an item to look underneath for the price (it wasnt priced) then I suddenly had an older, short woman frantic asking "Do you want that? Do you want that?" I asked the price and she seemed very off put about having to go "upstairs and finding the box for it". I commented I would just look for it online. (Amazon ended up being 55.00 cheaper on it). I also asked if there was a sign up list for a particular ornament. I was told there was...but then offered NO information on how to get on that said list. It was obvious we werent welcome there. My visit today was simply for the 1/2 off ornament sale. The associate who rang me up Overcharged me 10.00. I noticed the over charge walking out to my car. I went back in and started explaining to the other cashier what had happened. LUNA interrupted us and grabbed the receipt out of the other cashiers hand to "look it over". She proceeded to give me a dose of her attitude until I pointed out in as basic terms that I could that I had two different ornaments, at two different prices, and she charged me for two of the most expensive one. Forget this place. They should take their cues from the big Hallmark store in the mall. Oh wait...thats right. It closed down and theres a cell phone store where it was. Ill be happy to just shop online next year and skip this dumpster fire. read more

Wow! I thought maybe it was just me and my experience, but reading these other reviews, the impression I was left with is 100% confirmed. I walked in the store and there was this younger girl (teens), short brown hair and glasses, standing behind the counter and she clearly did not want any interaction whatsoever. She stood there like a lump and wouldn't make eye contact. No, Hello. No welcome. Definitely no, May I help you; or, How are you? I think she would rather die. After dealing with Little Miss Congeniality, the next thing I noticed was the horrible, funky smell throughout the store. It was very strong and gross. It wasn't candles or potpourri, or anything like that. Just nasty! So, I'm looking around and an older lady, I'm guessing a manager, walks by me, looks my way, but again, no interaction. No, May I help you? Are you finding everything okay? She just hurried off and disappeared. Unable to find what I want, and unable to get any assistance, I went back up to the front and asked the young girl, "Do you have any rolls of crepe paper?" "What?" "Do you have any rolls of crepe paper?" She looks at me like I have three heads and I'm interrupting her stand-around-and-do-absolutely-nothing time, and she smugly answers, "No, I don't think so." Ummm, okay. Sooo, you're clearly not going to make any effort whatsoever to check or to ask someone; right? Got it! The nerve of me to expect you to do your job. Won't be going back there, that's for sure! Still trying to get that nasty smell out of my nose and clothes. read more

Rude customer service! Went in today to look at the Hallmark ornaments and asked the Gaston limited edition. I was asked, are you a member? Do you have your card? I found that ornament and I was told you can have just one. I should have got her name. Wore glasses and grey hair. Older lady at the register was rude as well. Customer service at the store on Signal Butte is much better. Don't waste your time here. read more

This was my 1st time in this store and definitely my last. Now that I'm looking over all these reviews, I see why i was treated the way i was treated today. There as a very rude, short, old, and probably blind "Karen" who was so rude to me, I couldn't believe it. Now that i see the actual name of the store, I would have never gone in there in the first place. As a proud African American Veteran, we should not treated this way by people who are put in a position to serve. Please Karen, learn the meaning of Customer Service. I'm sure these honest reviews will not stop the hoard of other "Karens" to frequent this store. but if you are any proud person so true color, find somewhere else to get your Mother's Day cards this year, and skip this "dumpster fire" establishment all together. read more

I love Hallmark but I was there twice during this holiday season and both times encountered the assistant manager. She is so rude. Holy smokes. Both times I felt like such an inconvenience to her. On my last visit I had something to return. I was going to shop more but after working with her I just left. When I made my return I didn't need the bag I made the return in any longer and asked her if she would throw it away for me. She made a complete spectacle as she pulled the trash can up to the counter and used her pen to push my bag into the trash. All that with her nose in the air. I understand in times of cold and flu that you want to keep you hands clean, but dang....Such drama. It's not like I was sneezing and coughing and it was so over the top. She works in a public retail setting handling money and merchandise that others have touched all day. Why did she need to make such a deal about it. She could have even held the trash up and I would have put it in. It was embarrassing honestly. She had a bad attitude and was rude not just that time but both times I was in. I was nice and kind and it's Christmas. No excuse for rude. read more

I will never shop here again and recommend to anyone in this neighborhood not to shop here. Horrible customer service. I was the only customer in the store and waited at the counter for five minutes to be acknowledged for a return. Was finally acknowledged by another worker, not the cashier working the counter. My aunt had bought $25 worth of colored paper plates and was told i could not return them because they were sale items. Beware of purchasing items from this store based on there ridiculous return policies and lack of customer service. Not sure why paper plates in the colors of red and blue would not be returnable 5/14 with Memorial Day and 4th of July around the corner?!?!! read more

I absolutely LOVE this Hallmark store. It has better coupons and sales than any other Hallmark store I have ever been to. I was told by another Hallmark store manager that this Karen's Hallmark store is privately owned (not a franchise) and that is the reason they can offer much better deals, sales and promotions than other locations. I love Karen's exclusive speciality magazine they send out, it is always FULL of coupons and a fabulous display of their current inventory. I also LOVE that they have tons of old Keepsake ornaments in stock that are no longer available anywhere else. They always have a large selection of sales items sitting outside and it is really fun to sift through all of the unique sales items every time I go. The store is also full of fabulously unique merchandise, trendy jewelry and clothing along with fun novelty items. It has a great baby section too. The bonus for me is the onsite post office. It is so convenient to be able to run in, grab a beautiful card and unique gift for a friend out of state, and literally walk to the back of the store and mail it out. I have always been treated very well from all of the employees I've ever dealt with here. Everyone is always so very helpful and courteous. Come to think about it, I've never ever even seen a rude or disgruntled Hallmark sales associate at any Hallmark store. Is that even a thing?! I think it is virtually impossible. I love Hallmark's concept and I enjoy shopping at all Hallmark locations, but this one is by far my favorite. read more

This place is terrible. Lady working the Post Office does not know how to do international shipping of a small package. Told me to go to Falcon Station on Sunday because they would be open from 9 to 4. They weren't. Made a purchase yesterday using cash but needed to return it today. Approached the counter as the clerk was with a customer. I waited about 3 feet behind the customer being waited on and an elderly gentleman came up to the left of the counter. Their interactions and chatter took up about 5 minutes. While waiting 2 other employees asked if they could help me but when they saw I had a return, they recanted and said that I'd have to wait for the clerk who was busy. When she finished, she turned to the gentleman standing to the side, completely ignoring me and asked if she could help him. He was older and I didn't want to make him feel bad by asking to be served first so I waited while they visited. When my turn came, I gave the clerk the item and receipt. I had paid in cash yesterday and so she gave me my cash back ($7.55) and then wanted me to fill out a form with my name and phone number. The prices in this store are outrageous so you think they'd justify them with excellent service. Not so much. The staff seems like they are all "Christmas help" and customers are an interruption of their day. If you're going to spend the kind of money they're asking, I would shop someplace else. You can get the same items online, cheaper and without the crappy service. read more

I have shopped at this store for years, and have literally spent thousands of dollars with them. I collect Hallmark ornaments and Department 56 houses. I send out many Christmas cards each year, and buy many gifts here. I purchase Vera Bradley items and I use the post office here almost exclusively. It has been my go-to shop for all these things since the day they opened (under another name). Service in the past has ranged from excellent to mediocre, but for the first time ever, I had a really bad experience. A few weeks ago I purchased a Hallmark ornament, and just the other day discovered it was not what I thought it was. I took it in to return it, and was told it was unreturnable because it was too close to Christmas. What? Even if that was a viable excuse, which it wasn't, It was only December 6. Lots more busy shopping days to come! I have never been told "no" to a return of an unopened and unused item by a reputable place of business in my life. If this is their new business model, I need to rethink where I am shopping. There are other choices. I will never use this ornament and will be donating it or throwing it away. I am disappointed and I do not think this is the way to treat a good customer. If this proves to be the new way of doing business, I'm out. read more

I have shopped at Karen's Hallmark many times during the 28 years I've lived in Mesa. I have felt uncomfortable going in the store because the employees stare at me as if I'm going to steal something. I often use their post office to mail packages when I'm too late to go to the regular post office. This week, I went to Karen's to send a package and a surly employee told me that the post office was closed. It wasn't even 6 p.m. yet! As a result, this place is the last place I'll choose to mail a package. read more
