Seriously.... The name has changed - and maybe the owners have too. The new name is the The Purple Saguaro, so this is what I am reviewing. Since I posted this review on the Purple Saguaro site, I suggest that Yelp delete this review site. I have been coming to this establishment for several years. It is close to another favorite (Pussycat Gelato) so I simply head across the street to visit another local favorite. The Purple Saguaro (PS) has so many gifts and little local items that it would be impossible to mention them all. From authentic Native American jewelry to TRULY AUTHENTIC Native American made Kokopelli decorations. These are truly unique and not widely available. The owners (brother, I presume) are helpful and will negotiate a little if you buy a lot. I was shocked since this is downtown Scottsdale, but we were spending a couple hundred, so that actually made a little difference here. The items they sell are certainly high quality, and they care if you see something that is not the quality you expect. I most definably give them most of our gift business for out of state relatives. Trust-worthy, Honest, Clean, and an extensive Variety from refrigerator magnets to Kokopelli sculptures, they have it all.a read more

When visiting the greater Phoenix area, the Valley of the Sun, this is the place to pick up souvenirs. This cute shop is located in Old Town Scottsdale. They sell a large variety of items such as Native American items, t-shirts especially AZ shirts, postcards for only 25 cents, mugs, shot glasses, and more. My mom likes her cactus or should I say "kactus" nail file that's wearing sunglasses. I always get my boss a shot glass from places I visit. Spring Training for MLB is huge in the area and they had the shirts available, not cheap but better priced than the sports stores at the malls. Customer service is friendly and helpful here. We stopped in here to see if we could find something to bring back home to our kids. It was a little difficult finding some place that sold souvenirs. Popped in here and ended up grabbing a couple Arizona car coasters. But they have other food and gift items, and plenty of tshirts. Tshirts seemed pretty pricey and we skipped over those. I was pulling my hair in Downtown Phoenix looking for a gift shop to bring home a little souvenir for my fun weekend in Arizona. But thanks to Yelp, I was able to search the surrounding areas and found a little village of lovely gift shops. This one in particular was a gem. The items carried here were the type you would typically find in a tourist gift shop but it was much more than just that. It was definitely a touch of Arizona, with materials and clothing that seemed to be made locally. The screening on the shirts & sweaters were made right in the same shop. There were things you would find for the kitchen, garden, a kids nook with books and toys, and of course cactuses!! If I'd return to Arizona in the Phoenix region, I would definitely return to this store and the many other stores in the neighborhood. read more

Kactus Jock is located on the famous 5th Avenue in Scottsdale. This is the original Arts and Crafts area in Scottsdale. The place is a lot like Walnut Creek in the Bay Area IMO. There is free parking on the street or in the garage but it's a busy area so you just have to get lucky with parking. We were looking for some gifts to bring back home for friends and luckily found Kactus Jock on Yelp. They were close by to us and was open. We quickly headed over and was surprised by how large the store was. They have a lot to offer! We had a lot of fun walking through the store. Since we only had a carry on each, we were limited on what we could bring back (food wise). We decided on Cactus Candy and we picked up a cute little cactus magnet for ourselves. Those of you who know me must be shocked it wasn't a shot glass...or two lol. This was a one stop shop for us and we love the area. We recommend checking them out for gifts and souvenirs. You can walk around and even have a nice meal in the area after. Next time we're back in AZ, we'll definitely be back. read more

The store has a great variety of souvenir items as well as clothing and food items. I just found that they are very pricey. There are many things that are imported from Mexico and I know from shopping in Mexico that they are very inexpensive. In spite of the pandemic raising prices, these prices are still way high. I've shopped here in the past and found that the prices were high even before the pandemic. They do have a great selection and if there's something in particular that you're looking for you may find it there. We were looking for toys and didn't find very many so we shopped elsewhere. I stopped in here on my lunch break to try to find a Father's Day gift since I knew that they carried the "Old Guys Rule" paraphernalia that my dad loves (see pics if you don't know what I am talking about). I found that they had tons of gift items for just about everyone. There were lots of funny and cool T-shirts, board shorts and swim cover-ups, a bunch of baby and kid clothes with cute and silly sayings on them. Of course they had plethora of stuff promoting Scottsdale and AZ (that's a given) but they also had a lot of cool items that were not touristy souvenirs at all. They even had higher end items like jewelery, purses, and sunglasses. I don't normally write reviews, especially for souvenir shops and being a native of Arizona but today I do. I was walking with my girlfriend in Old Town Scottsdale in the 5th avenue shops and being a native I've never been to Kactus Jock but we decided to stop in and look around. We were greeted with nothing but positivity and conversation from an employee named Janice. In these times its tough finding pleasant people without judgment or negativity. This is my new favorite store in old town Scottsdale. Took a family member here for some trinket shopping and I fell in love with lots of the merchandise. Wonderful wind chimes metal magnets of course they had t-shirts and a lot of other things handmade soaps I fell in love with a rustic-looking lamp that will be a Father's Day gift. Highly recommend spending some time in the area so you can visit all the shops on the strip. read more

Lots of T-shirts (particularly the Life Is Good line), but shelves stocked with other trinkets and interesting goodies. Went here had a unusual experience. Had a custom T-shirt made to order only to discover a problem after getting home. Called the store from California the next day. Manager not only said sorry, they sent a new shirt to me a few days later no charge! Great service, nice friendly staff, and lots and lots interesting gifts of varied prices and interests. Nice store but I bought a clothing item there and across the street found the same item 25% cheaper! Since there had not been a price tag on it I did go back to question the price, and was just told "sorry" .
