Think Twice before JOIN Goodlife -- DECEPTIVE BILLING & TRAP-LIKE POLICIES…read more If you're considering joining GoodLife Fitness, please learn from my experience and think twice before signing up. What happened to me feels like a deliberate setup to trap customers into unfair charges. Here are the facts: On December 8, 2025, I submitted an online request on Goodlife website to Temporary freeze my membership until April 30, 2026. My billing date is normally the 9th of each month (CAD $116.52), which is exactly why I submitted the request on the 8th -- to avoid being charged. From that date onward, neither I nor my secondary member ever visited the club again. According to information on GoodLife's website, a frozen membership should cost only $10/month. Yet here's what actually happened: * Dec 9, 2025: Charged $116.52 * Jan 9, 2026: Charged $21.04 * Feb 9, 2026: Charged $69.56 * Mar 9, 2026: Charged $69.56 This is completely inconsistent, confusing, and clearly not the advertised freeze fee. When I called customer service on March 24, 2026, instead of helping, they gave me a series of very complicated, misleading explanations trying to justify every charge and ultimately blamed everything on me. They refused to refund any of the improper charges. The customer service representative just kept repeating many times: "We are not pay-per-visit, and our charges are valid and correct." That's completely beside the point. Of course, I know you're not pay-per-visit -- if I thought you were, why would I be paying a monthly fee at all? Their "reasons" were outrageous: 1. You must submit a freeze request at least 3 days before the billing date. This requirement was NOT clearly disclosed during the online process. 2. Only my primary account was frozen, not the secondary account. There was NO clear option or instruction online to freeze the secondary account separately. Any reasonable person would assume both are included. You charge me 2-persong together and you freeze us separately? This feels like a deliberate trap to keep charging extra fees. 3. Cancellation requires 30 days' notice. Meaning they will continue charging you for another full month even after you try to leave. This is not customer service -- this is predatory billing disguised as policy. I was so frustrated that I immediately cancelled my membership on the same phone call, but even then, I believe they will still charge me again due to their 30-day rule. In summary be aware: * Hidden rules * Poorly disclosed conditions * Confusing billing structure * Refusal to resolve or refund * Policies designed to maximize charges, not fairness This feels like a system designed to take advantage of customers. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I was in the exact same situation with another brand name club. At that time, I was able to temporarily freeze my membership, and later cancel it without any issues. The process was much simple, transparent, and straightforward. I have never encountered problems like the ones I am facing now. This inconsistency is both confusing and frustrating. If you value transparency and fair treatment, Think Twice before JOIN from GoodLife Fitness. There are many other choices out there.

Like: *They've got a lot of machines available. *Lot of change room space. *Washroom, changing facility, sauna is good.

Honestly, locking in a regular training schedule with Anton has been the best fitness decision I've ever made. Anton is hands-down the most dedicated and disciplined person I know, which sets him apart from other trainers I've seen. He keeps you accountable and makes sure you get your money's worth every single week. If you're consistent, you will absolutely start seeing results after just a few sessions. If you are looking for a committed personal trainer and want to learn boxing, do yourself a favor and book Anton. You won't regret it!

It wasn't my first Nia class…read more In fact, I'd done a lot of Nia with great teachers, and even took my white belt training (which at the time, was the teacher training) for Nia. Nia is amazing, and each teacher brings their own energy to the practice. In fact, if you have tried Nia and didn't love it, I recommend trying another teacher or more. It's more about the right fit for you than it is about "good" and "bad" teachers. So, Jenn Hicks. She's amazing. She's not shy about sharing her personal story online and the struggles that lead her to Nia. She has a passion for mental health and celebrating the bodies we have. Jenn understands and loves it when you take care of yourself, so there is no pressure to keep up or do anything that doesn't feel right. If I need to slow a move down, or take a break, I know that Jenn respects and encourages that. I feel like she creates a safe place where I can show up, as I am, and dance from there. All of me is welcome here. You can be gentle. That said, if I wanted to pump things up and really work it, there is no one better than Jenn Hicks. That girl has more energy than anyone I know. She has a blast while she teaches and her enthusiasm is contagious. If you want a great workout that rocks your cardio while being kind to your body, this is the class. If I could describe her classes in two words, sexy and sweaty come to mind. The kind of sexy that is barefoot and strong. I often laugh out loud in her classes as well. And I love the music she chooses. It's all over the place, but always fun. Jenn is super playful but don't be fooled -- that woman is a powerhouse of wisdom. You'll be in good hands, and likely leave loving your body a little more.

Just a few minutes into my first class, I found myself loving it. It's a great addition to my work out routine. The no pressure, feel-good approach works for me, and yet I still get a great workout. Jenn's positive attitude and warm personality just adds to the overall feeling of enjoyment. I will continue with Nia and hope to reap the benefits for a long time to come.

You work through 2 stations (the treadmills and weights) multiple times during a 50 minute class where each day there is often a specific focus on which muscle groups you are working on. This is one of two locations of Barry's in Toronto. Their Fuel Bar is also located on the ground floor where their actual workout facility is on the 2nd floor, accessible by stairs or elevator. Barry's merch is also available for purchase as well. Upon entering Barry's, the Fuel Bar is to the right where you can order your favourite smoothies post-workout. Walking up the stairs (or taking the elevator), you enter the workout space where there is an area to stretch pre and post workout. The facility has changerooms, a water fountain, ample lockers, showers (with Ouai products and Dyson hairdryers), as well as towels for your workout and showers. I checked in with staff at the front and they explained the format of the class. The instructor for the workout session I had was Kevin who was great. When first-timers often come, they are brought into the red room first where the instructor explains the format of the class and how to listen for their cues since there are 2 stations running at once (and 2 set of instructions given to both stations). I was also given a welcome card which was a nice touch. Kevin was motivating, encouraging and friendly throughout class, making sure the first-timers had a good time. His instructions were clear and the class was easy to follow due to that. For the workout, it was a lower body focus workout. I started on the weights section and rotated between the weights and treadmill stations three times. No stranger to HIIT classes, I found the workout challenging, where I definitely worked up a sweat! I'm not a huge fan of running and the vibes/people in class as well as Kevin definitely pushed me to my max! After class there were cold essential towels waiting for you as you left the red room. The changeroom/washrooms got a bit busy after class but that is to be expected. Overall, a great HIIT workout which had high energy and vibes! Kevin the instructor was great and motivating. Barry's is definitely a great intense workout!

If you can get over the Soviet-era architecture, lack of natural lighting, "asbestos" warning…read moresigns, and maze-like interior, then Athletic Centre is right for you. It will make you an athlete and there's plenty of equipment and facilities to show for it. Membership is already included in your UofT student tuition, but you can always opt out. The gym features an indoor track/field house, dance and fencing studios, squash courts, and Olympic-sized pools. In spite of the intimidating, performance-athlete-only vibe that emanates from the front door, you can still get inspired by the many jacked powerlifters and kinesiology students that frequent the SCC (Strength & Conditioning Centre). In this glorious facility you'll find at least 5 squat/power racks (grab them while you can), sizeable weights, and lots of cable machines. One of the leg machines are always broken but IMO they're not the important ones anyways. The olympic weightlifting platforms are where the gold's at. If lifting's not for you, then take advantage of the free fitness and conditioning classes on offer, or the paid lessons for finer things like karate or fencing. They're lots of fun, taught by masterful instructors in their field, and open to non-students too. In fact, unlike the rest of University of Toronto, a class at Athletic Centre will actually equip you with real skills. -1 star because you don't want to die alone in here, where the sun don't shine; the older AC staff are usually grumpy (always approach the younger student workers); and there really should be more cardio machines.

It's a…read moreperfectly adequate facility if it's free with your tuition; however, paying it for it was quite a waste of money for me. Unfortunately, I left more disappointed than satisfied. The GOOD: If you like to swim, they do have a nice Olympic size pool. I think this is by far the best aspect of this facility with good dedicated lap swim time. Also, if you like running indoors in winter, they have a 200 meter track. Hours are also quite generous. The BAD: They only have something like 12 elliptical machines...this is for a campus of 80,000 staff and students. Prepare for the hassle of signing up and waiting. The locker rooms are dirty, crowded, and dingy. The weight room is a mixed bag: they have a lot of equipment, but it's undersized for the usage and filled with more meathead types. Not an environment I like. The facility is also very awkwardly spread out without much natural light...kind of depressing. The UGLY: No treadmills, no stairmasters...how can these staples of cardiovascular torture (I mean fitness) be completely absent? Classes like spinning or yoga cost extra and are not cheap. OVERALL, I went here because it was close to my office. The waits and lack of cardio equipment resulted in under-utilization. I also just never enjoyed working out here. I've switched to GoodLife and haven't looked back.
