This is a review for their smoothies and seating area. I was craving something refreshing like a smoothie so I decided to come here. The Lagree Shake caught my eye because the ingredients sounded so good and I'm so happy that I tried it because it was amazing. The smoothie itself was very nutty from the cashew butter. I decided to remove the creatine because I didn't want to consume it. The cashier was able to move the creatine from my smoothie to my boyfriend's smoothie. I also tried a bit of the immuno berry smoothie. Taste wise it wasn't that great but I'm sure the benefits are good. There's some seating with some outlets if you want to do some work and also some barstools to sit at as well. There's also a water filling station and a fridge filled with juice, chia pudding, and light bites like falafel. Hopefully, I can come back for this smoothie! read more

Needed my caffeine fix and came across this cafe. Interior looks clean with a minimalist vibe. They also have yoga there so lots of people coming in and out. We tried their Hojicha latte and iced latte. Both were good. Liked the coffee bean taste! read more

Finally made it to S+T while in Toronto using ClassPass. As I used a third party app to book my class, this experience may only be limited to those members. I've heard a lot about their studio and expected luxury level amenities similar to the studios I have been to in Boston. Booking was fairly easy and for ClassPass members they notify your spot via email. I showed up for my yoga x Pilates class 30mins before (as requested). The building is large and beautiful. Lots of space and bathrooms. They have showers downstairs and yoga studio upstairs. They also have a workspace with membership card access for unlimited membership. When I entered, although the lady at reception was nice, they did not offer to walk me through the place as most gyms do for first timers. They motioned that the class is upstairs, bathrooms downstairs, lockers on both floors. As I've been to many studios, I know what questions to ask so I was OK but for newcomers it can be a little overwhelming. You also don't get those welcome cards like pretty much every studio does nowadays. The class itself was very good. I am a regular at a hot yoga studio and this class was on par with that. Their bathrooms can be a little clean as they get a lot of people showering, doing makeup in the mornings. I recommend increasing frequency of cleaning in the bathroom. Otherwise, it's a great studio! Having been to so many "luxury studios" I don't think it's worth the membership they're charging. But it is a good workout. read more

Updated review since I've been going to Sweat and Tonic consistently since they opened in Nov 2019! After shortly opening in Nov 2019, a few months later they had to pivot to offering classes online virtually due to COVID. During that time I still did their virtual classes on Sweat on Demand, followed the pre-recorded classes on SoD, as well as did their live streams they had on Instagram. During the summer of 2021 they also had Sweat on the Roof which was super fun! Imagine going to the roof of the Eaton's Centre to do a workout! Best part of my weekends was going back to group classes in an outdoor setting that summer. When COVID restrictions somewhat lifted, they had limited capacity for classes as well as many preventative measures back at their facility including barriers as well as physical distancing. Now, as I write this review in Dec 2022, S&T is back to full capacity. I've learned to call this place my second home, where you can find me taking the same classes week after week (always that 3D HIIT and booty HIIT and an occasional hot HIIT). It's a place where you see the same group of people or individuals take the same classes as you where it builds community. You understand why they are there week after week - it's because we have come to love and embrace this beautiful community S&T and its members have created. After these 3+ years of being at S&T I've only become stronger both physically and mentally. This place I call my second home is where I am able to be myself, manage my stress, and be with others to push my limits. Definitely try out S&T because you won't regret it! read more

I used to go here when I first moved in the area and I knew no other places to go to work on my laptop. After my heavy exploration for cafés in Toronto, I no longer to here. While I do respect and appreciate the bougie-ness and cleanliness of the café, the coffee based drinks are unbelievably overpriced and is not worth it for me. The cafe also serves snacks / food that is mindful of your health and provides ample space to sit and enjoy the view of the bustling city from the window. Situated conveniently across the CF Eaton Centre, this café serves a number of simple coffee and healthy drinks. Please do be cautious as drinks/food most likely contain nuts. read more

I've been going to Sweat and Tonic for the last three months after knee surgery, and it's been incredible for my recovery; I find great value in my 9-5 membership and go to 1-2 classes a day, Monday - Friday. I love the variety of classes available - from pilates, HIIT, yoga, and spin, but it can get busy/full. The facility is clean and very welcoming; it's nice to disconnect in the middle of a work day. Overall, I've been delighted with my experience, except for when my friend and I got sick from a buck and shuck night. read more

This happened at The Well location but the same instructor teaches at both locations so it seemed appropriate to post here too. If I could give this experience 0 stars, I would. It was my first time at Sweat and Tonic and I was excited - I heard good things and it looked bougie from the outside. The "tour" lasted two seconds, the guide acted annoyed at all my questions, and I wasn't informed that I would be given a number of where to be during the class. The instructor opened the door so I went in only to be kicked out with a few other students seconds later - "HEALERS ONLY! LEAVE RIGHT NOW!" No sweetness or apology for her lack of communication. Wildly rude. I overhear a convo and this is how I learn we have assigned seating (I reg on ClassPass so had no idea of this). The staff told me my number after I asked. She and the previous staff said I could bring my bag in as I have medical stuff I keep with me at all times. When I begin to walk in the instructor is wildly rude about my bag and says "this is a special event. You can't bring that." I say for the third time I have medical needs. Thankfully my seat has space around it. The singer calls out my bag and I say YET AGAIN in front of everyone I HAVE MEDICAL NEEDS I NEED MY BAG. Finally everyone lets me keep it but it's humiliating and jarring - the opposite of kindness I expect from spiritual events. I set my consent card to yes, but what I do not expect is the first "reiki healer" begins by GROPING MY BREASTS. Yes I get it's a "heart chakra" theme but you can attend to someone's heart area WITHOUT TOUCHING THEIR BOOBS! And newsflash - I've been doing energy work for 25 years, you do not need to physically touch someone to do energy work on them. A few other healers touched a finger to my sternum and this was much more appropriate. But fully 2 of them touched my breasts. This was insanely jarring, inappropriate, and unnecessary. I could go on about how much of a spiritually unsafe space this is. AVOID. CONSENT TO TOUCH DOES NOT MEAN I CONSENT TO TOUCHING OF A SEXUAL BODY PART!!! I have been a member at Sweat & Tonic since the latter half of 2021. They offer multiple classes throughout the day spanning yoga, spin, HIIT, and pilates. I mostly do HIIT and spin classes, but I have tried the others during my time as a member. I have always enjoyed the classes and have yet to encounter a bad instructor. The gym is well run and the facilities are high quality. My only gripe is with their cancellation policy for Unlimited Members (late fee if cancelled within 12 hours). I strongly believe that this policy should be modified to accommodate working professionals who may have unpredictable schedules. Despite the late policy, I still highly recommend S&T to all gym goers. read more

What a gorgeous studio! I love the facilities here and hope to try out more of their classes. So far I have had the opportunity to try the Yin Yoga class, which is the most relaxing, deep stretch and releasing type of class I have ever attended. The room is dim and candle lit, and you spend a lot of time just releasing the deep musicales and fascia while meditating. I love it and the instructor Rachel is a dream. She is so calming and positive. The facilities are very clean and they provide towels and filtered water, along with lotion, hair dryers and face wash and toiletries. There are two private saunas (another dream), Simardone meditation pod, a spin studio, HIIT studio, boxing, as well as yoga and Pilates. The building also houses a Nutbar location, Tonic House bar, and Lemonwater Wellness clinic for nutrition, massage and physiotherapy. I love this studio. read more

I just did a rooftop spin class here and I loved it. I got a free pass from a friend who frequently attends classes here and let's just say I am hooked and ready for the next one. There were tons of classes being offered on each given day. Ended up coming here for another spin class indoors. As soon as you're done your workout, they have cold towels waiting for you and plastic bags for you to put your sweaty clothes in. That superior level of detail is impressive. And the fact that you can reserve your smoothie from Nutbar for when your class finishes... what!? Amazing. The change rooms and showers feel so luxurious with the Dyson hair dryers. They also have an upstairs working area that you can reserve with a credit as well as saunas and meditation pods! Total main character vibes. What first started out as a cool, new "instagtammable" fitness place to try out turned out to be a gym I have classes booked in for almost everyday! This boutique style gym has RIDE, HIIT & YOGA classes, all within their respective studios- brought in by experienced instructors in the industry. Classes are fun but challenging and the studio space is meticulously designed to WOW your senses. On top of these- there is a NUTBAR cafe- a health conscious delicious place to get a snack or smoothie- located on the main lobby level for anyone (even those not doing any classes) to try out. Few more noteworthy areas is the SOMADOME meditation pod, Infrared saunas, facial & massage room for all your luxury relaxing needs. Great place to kick start your 2020 fitness goals ! Classes range between $15 (if it's your first time theres an intro package) to $20 per class. I finally tried the IR sauna today and it was great ! Nothing beats a new facility that sets up towels for you & staff that will walk you through everything. EDIT: bit annoyed they don't announce the members lounge area is closed off for a private event as I was going to do my work there after a workout. They still need to work on a better class booking system and announcements on facilities that are open. read more

This is my first time at sweat & tonic and also my first time doing a spin class so I have nothing else to compare to, but it was overall a pretty fun experience! The instructor was great, very energetic and led the class in a very good workout. However it would have been a better experience if I had been offered ear plugs at the front desk. The music is extremely loud and every time the instructor yells into her mic I feel my eardrums hurt. My Apple Watch was also warning me that the sound is too loud throughout the class. I only found out after the class from my friend that I could have asked for ear plugs. I didn't hear the staff asking us if we needed ear plugs bc it's so loud in the room. Either it should be offered at the front desk or the instructor should have told ppl to ask at the beginning of the class. There were also some issues with the speaker system during the class where the speakers were making very loud and sudden bursts making the experience quite uncomfortable at some points. Then the battery in the instructor's mic also did not last the entire class. Near the end of the class her mic died and despite her walking up and down so that she could give instructions closer to us, I still couldn't hear anything she said without the mic. So although the class was fun and effective in giving me a good workout, I feel that the experience should have been a lot better in a high-end gym like this. read more

Got one of the best massages from the massage therapist Shula!!! She was great. The workout was a Jay Z themed HIIT class that was challenging but well needed . Review for their *on demand* and *sweat live* classes: I have not been to the brick and mortar Sweat & Tonic although I had heard great things. It looks absolutely beautiful, plus they are partners with Chi Junky yoga studio which I can attest to has amazing teachers. I found their pricing a bit expensive and the "credit" system a bit confusing, so even though I looked at their website, I never had a chance to check it out IRL. It does seem to target a similar clientele to luxury gyms like Equinox -- a full service experience where you can work out, use a sauna, have a snack at nutbar, etc. without having to leave one place. What's nice is that it is more flexible compared to Equinox. If you don't want to do an unlimited membership, you can buy class packages. Anyways, during their COVID-19 closure I had the opportunity to try out their classes as they were kind enough to offer complimentary access to their library of on-demand classes (pre-recorded videos) and live classes (via zoom) for healthcare workers. They are also doing several classes a day on their IG live. The variety of the classes and the quality of the instructors is excellent. Two faves are Paulina (pilates, barre, slow burn) and Julian (HIIT, rock the bells - strength training). Both taught at Equinox when I was a member there in the past and they are master trainers who really know how to cue properly and design a balanced, safe, and effective workout. I also love Frances' booty HIIT class and Rory's core HIIT. For yoga, Rachelle (founder of Chi Junky) is awesome. Her hip hop sweat flow is unique in the city. I've also recently tried Dustin's HIIT classes and he actually makes cardio fun, which I did not think was possible. He has been teaching hip hop dance classes on the IG live and if you are into throwbacks, you'll love them! The live classes are great because you can leave your video on and get personalized feedback and the on demand library has tons of variety too (with excellent video quality that includes an on-screen timer -- the countdown is so key when you are doing a hard move!). They are even doing events on their zoom and IG live about mental health, meditation, nutrition, financial management, etc. They really take a holistic approach to health and wellness. Highly recommend S&T and can't wait to take a class in their actual studios once it is safe to do so. The way they have handled the challenges of COVID-19 have shown them to be real leaders in the fitness/health industry. read more

SWEAT AND TONIC TLDR If you prefer fancy lighting, pop music, and space to hang out in before and after S&T is for you. If you want to focus exclusively on spin classes and love to spoil yourself with Aesop scented products after class then Ride Cycle is a better fit for you. OVERALL IMPRESSION I must say this is a great studio for people who want an all arounder experience. There are yoga classes, HIIT classes, cycling and additional perks such as work and study space for unlimited membership members. There is a bar area and a coffee spot. It is 3 stories and is well equipped for all you will need. The staff are all lovely and the space is very cool, modern, and enjoyable. CYCLING CLASS I went to a cycling studio and the songs are more oriented to individuals who are lyrically motivated. Do not expect EDM of heavy beats. It is more about Top 40s and throwback pop hits in this space. I did find that the spin experience was not as good as certain studios that focus exclusively on spin classes such as Ride Cycle which is my personal recommendation. Ultimately I think Ride Cycle takes cycling, form, choreography, and community more seriously AMENITIES The amenities are incredible including a yoga area to stretch and there is alot of spaces and nooks to hang out or cool down before and after class. Easily somewhere you can spend a decent amount of time in between classes you take. However in terms of shower products, I found their products to be the equivalent of a cheap hotel experience that is not unusable. That being said, Ride Cycle is equipped with Aesop which is a great luxury to feel special after a class filled with sweat and self love. read more

Sweat & Tonic is hands down the best studio in Toronto. The place is absolutely beautiful, clean and the service is top notch. I've tried several different yoga classes in the studio and on the roof and they were all amazing. I also did a variety of classes on Sweat Live during the lockdown and also signed up for their Sweat On Demand (really great repertoire of quality workout videos). All the instructors are awesome and full of energy. I especially like Frances, Vanessa, Sheldon, Carmelinda and Odetta's classes. The quality of the classes are exceptional from in person to online. I love that this is a first class kind of service. You don't have to bring anything with you, everything is provided: yoga mat, towel, toiletry for your shower, Dyson air dryer..very luxurious! But the best is that cold wet towel infused with eucalyptus after the class. Pure bliss! I would also like to recognize their generosity during the lockdown. They offered many free classes to the public, challenges and contest. It kept me going during this hard time and I am very thankful for them. They are innovative and creative. The way they handled all the challenges during COVID is very impressive and remarkable. They made all their customers feel safe and provided all the extra precautions for it (wall divider between each workout station, body temperature check, touchless door opener, bottom of the shoe sanitization...) They were always prepared for each steps and curveball from the pandemic and were always the first in the industry to have a proper plan after each government announcement. This is why this boutique studio is the best and I highly recommend them. They are opening their second location and I can't wait because that one is going to be just few minutes from my house. The new Sweat & Tonic will be 25,000+ sq ft with a 50ft pool and a spa!!! Who else is screaming with excitement with me here??!! :) read more
