Updated review since I've been going to Sweat and Tonic consistently since they opened in Nov 2019! After shortly opening in Nov 2019, a few months later they had to pivot to offering classes online virtually due to COVID. During that time I still did their virtual classes on Sweat on Demand, followed the pre-recorded classes on SoD, as well as did their live streams they had on Instagram. During the summer of 2021 they also had Sweat on the Roof which was super fun! Imagine going to the roof of the Eaton's Centre to do a workout! Best part of my weekends was going back to group classes in an outdoor setting that summer. When COVID restrictions somewhat lifted, they had limited capacity for classes as well as many preventative measures back at their facility including barriers as well as physical distancing. Now, as I write this review in Dec 2022, S&T is back to full capacity. I've learned to call this place my second home, where you can find me taking the same classes week after week (always that 3D HIIT and booty HIIT and an occasional hot HIIT). It's a place where you see the same group of people or individuals take the same classes as you where it builds community. You understand why they are there week after week - it's because we have come to love and embrace this beautiful community S&T and its members have created. After these 3+ years of being at S&T I've only become stronger both physically and mentally. This place I call my second home is where I am able to be myself, manage my stress, and be with others to push my limits. Definitely try out S&T because you won't regret it!

This happened at The Well location but the same instructor teaches at both locations so it seemed appropriate to post here too. If I could give this experience 0 stars, I would. It was my first time at Sweat and Tonic and I was excited - I heard good things and it looked bougie from the outside. The "tour" lasted two seconds, the guide acted annoyed at all my questions, and I wasn't informed that I would be given a number of where to be during the class. The instructor opened the door so I went in only to be kicked out with a few other students seconds later - "HEALERS ONLY! LEAVE RIGHT NOW!" No sweetness or apology for her lack of communication. Wildly rude. I overhear a convo and this is how I learn we have assigned seating (I reg on ClassPass so had no idea of this). The staff told me my number after I asked. She and the previous staff said I could bring my bag in as I have medical stuff I keep with me at all times. When I begin to walk in the instructor is wildly rude about my bag and says "this is a special event. You can't bring that." I say for the third time I have medical needs. Thankfully my seat has space around it. The singer calls out my bag and I say YET AGAIN in front of everyone I HAVE MEDICAL NEEDS I NEED MY BAG. Finally everyone lets me keep it but it's humiliating and jarring - the opposite of kindness I expect from spiritual events. I set my consent card to yes, but what I do not expect is the first "reiki healer" begins by GROPING MY BREASTS. Yes I get it's a "heart chakra" theme but you can attend to someone's heart area WITHOUT TOUCHING THEIR BOOBS! And newsflash - I've been doing energy work for 25 years, you do not need to physically touch someone to do energy work on them. A few other healers touched a finger to my sternum and this was much more appropriate. But fully 2 of them touched my breasts. This was insanely jarring, inappropriate, and unnecessary. I could go on about how much of a spiritually unsafe space this is. AVOID. CONSENT TO TOUCH DOES NOT MEAN I CONSENT TO TOUCHING OF A SEXUAL BODY PART!!! Ironic as hell when the fake guru babbling at the front about consent. Absolute nightmare. Have added a photo of the disgusting mess I found in the bathroom. This is not my mess

I just did a rooftop spin class here and I loved it. I got a free pass from a friend who frequently attends classes here and let's just say I am hooked and ready for the next one. There were tons of classes being offered on each given day. Ended up coming here for another spin class indoors. As soon as you're done your workout, they have cold towels waiting for you and plastic bags for you to put your sweaty clothes in. That superior level of detail is impressive. And the fact that you can reserve your smoothie from Nutbar for when your class finishes... what!? Amazing. The change rooms and showers feel so luxurious with the Dyson hair dryers. They also have an upstairs working area that you can reserve with a credit as well as saunas and meditation pods! Total main character vibes. Dreaming of the next time I can work out here again!

What first started out as a cool, new "instagtammable" fitness place to try out turned out to be a gym I have classes booked in for almost everyday! This boutique style gym has RIDE, HIIT & YOGA classes, all within their respective studios- brought in by experienced instructors in the industry. Classes are fun but challenging and the studio space is meticulously designed to WOW your senses. On top of these- there is a NUTBAR cafe- a health conscious delicious place to get a snack or smoothie- located on the main lobby level for anyone (even those not doing any classes) to try out. Few more noteworthy areas is the SOMADOME meditation pod, Infrared saunas, facial & massage room for all your luxury relaxing needs. Great place to kick start your 2020 fitness goals ! Classes range between $15 (if it's your first time theres an intro package) to $20 per class. I finally tried the IR sauna today and it was great ! Nothing beats a new facility that sets up towels for you & staff that will walk you through everything. EDIT: bit annoyed they don't announce the members lounge area is closed off for a private event as I was going to do my work there after a workout. They still need to work on a better class booking system and announcements on facilities that are open.

She did give breaks to sip water which was nice. Be careful that not all lockers in the restroom lock properly. The herbal tea is a nice touch. In the class pass instructions and the email yoga tree sends, it isn't mentioned that borrowing a mat is $2. So be aware of that too prior going to class here. I'll skip this spot.

If you have any questions or get confused, I highly recommend that you call the studio or ask it in person.

Oh yeah, baby, I'm coming out of Yelp retirement to write this review…read more I have attended nearly 100 classes at Yogatree, so I hope I have qualified to write a review of this studio. Today I was left very disappointed by the studio. I bought a 20 class pass a year ago (c.f.: have attended nearly 100 classes!) -- at the time, I didn't know that the class passes EXPIRE AFTER ONE YEAR! Well, I suppose you can guess what happened. I was abroad for six months in the previous year, so I didn't get the chance to finish using all my classes before they expired. When I visited the studio to ask if they could take pity on me and my expired classes, since I was out of the country for most of the previous year, I was told that the policy is that they charge a $100 fee to "reactivate" expired classes. Now is probably a good time to mention that the 20 class pass, which I was not told would expire in a year when I bought it, was over $500. I'll let you judge whether you think these policies are appropriate. Regardless of whether you think they are or not, I should say that, before writing this review, I looked all over the Yogatree website to find any evidence of these two "policies". Maybe it was my fault for not knowing? Well: I could not find a single mention of the $100 reactivation fee ANYWHERE on the website. I do have to credit them for listing the class pass expiry date... AFTER you have purchased the class pass but not anywhere before payment!!! I wish I didn't have to write this review -- I have met some wonderful teachers and enjoyed some great classes at both the Bay/Dundas as well as the Richmond/Spadina locations. But you cannot have "policies" that people aren't aware of until it's too late.

The class itself was ok, I prefer a different style of teaching but it is only personal preference. Good props, little scented eye pillows and round mats. Being that it is the Ritz, the check in staff and spa staff were incredible. After class the girls and I used the pool and hottub for an hour or so without interruption. Nice treat! I took the Hatha class with Reena on Friday afternoon; it was very relaxed and I loved that the maximum number of students for this studio is only around 6 people! The natural light and spa location make this tranquil setting ideal for unwinding at the end of a long day. Even though I was not a guest of the hotel, the staff here personally escorted me to the location to ensure I wouldn't get lost (the spa location is a bit tricky to find). Overall I found the class to be pretty straightforward and Reena provided several adjustments throughout the class. This studio also has props for student use. If you're in the area I'd definitely recommend this class if you can make it several times a week; anything less gets very pricey though. The change rooms and washrooms are very luxurious - there are private lockers and plenty of space. I'm not sure if Passport to Prana members can use the gym facilities, but take advantage of that if you can. The entire gym and spa area is gorgeous! My only regret here is that I didn't take photos. There were only 2 other people participating in the class so it was hard to sneak a few ;-)

The Manifest studio is massive, and didn't have a mirror - which I prefer! It also has a beautiful view of the ROM. The high domed ceiling is a gentler experience to the more common exposed concrete and wires you see in many spaces nowadays. The reduced heat class had the right amount of heat - hot enough I was sweating, but not so much I was slipping off the mat, or felt overheated. That will of course depend if you are doing a power vinyasa flow or more static class. I did Queenie's class, which I enjoyed, but I have done her class many times before at other studios. Cymetree seems to be choosing from the Yogatree teachers (which the owners also operate) whom are always professional. You might just need to find a teacher and class that matches your vibe. The locker room has new digital locks. It also has a nice natural lotion, which is necessary for me after a hot yoga class. The front desk staff were lovely. My only suggestion would be to put a bench where the shoes are, since I can sometimes barely stand after a hot yoga class. Will be back soon!

Now, there is a marked difference between the people living in midtown Toronto (myself not included since I am a Winnipeg girl at heart) and those living in the West End; that is, the denizens of midtown make lots of money, prance around in designer clothing and flashy sports-cars and probably live outside their means, whereas West-enders have recently begun to earn money, walk around looking like paupers, and probably live beneath their means. Now what does this have to do with yoga? Well being from the midtown, I was afraid the West End Yogis would smell the stink of St. Clair on me and resent my presence. But Yoga Space is a relaxing environment, with friendly staff and a very yogi clientele. Everyone is welcoming, or at least leaves you alone. For the most part, the instructors are good, but the classes are often taught by students since it is a yoga school as well. The best part about Yoga Space though are the calming efforts the teachers make to relax you into your final pose -- Savasana -. Each end to the class is different, anything from bean-bags on your eyes to a foot rub to a eucalyptus scented blanket is used to let you close your practise in complete comfort. Yogi or not, one thing is certain, no Good Life gym under the Sun would offer you that kind of treatment at the end of a workout.
