Truly outstanding service, it is not often I come back to a restaurant so many times especially for just one item, but the service and quality is near unmatched in the downtown Glendora strip. You get your food fast so fast that your commute might take longer than the cook time (atleast for simpler items and especially for me as a devout cyclist). The one item that I hold in such high regard from Kara's corner, is the Chili cheese dog and steak fries, for 10 dollars you get a sizeable dog with flavorful chili, melted cheese, onions if you want, and crisp fluffy steak fries, plus a pickle on the side. It's the best chili dog in the area. The atmosphere is like that of a classic hometown diner it's comforting and includes outside seating. If you go to any one of the restaurants I review, make it this one, and grab a chili dog or one of the many other fantastic items, I'm sure that you won't regret it. read more

I've been coming here with my family for years! This is a wonderful family owned restaurant. When you are here they make you feel like family. Located in the heart of downtown Glendora the ambiance is small town charm. The service is outstanding the servers are so friendly and attentive. The food is great! You can come for any meal of the day they have a large menu selection and it will be delicious. All dinners come with a pretty big and fresh side salad or soup. The Salisbury Steak was really tasty. There are little pieces of green bell pepper throughout the Salisbury Steak that gives it a nice flavor and it came with a rich brown mushroom gravy. The Chicken Fried Steak Dinner was creamy and savory. I can't wait to try the breakfast Chicken Fried Steak. The meatloaf is delicious and has the same rich brown mushroom gravy. read more

Good old fashioned comfort food. The menu has a large variety from breakfast foods to sandwiches to meals your mother made for dinner on a Sunday night. My wife had the orange roughy and I had the lasagna. Both were very good. Both were reasonably priced. Both came with either soup (four choices on the night we were there) or salad. Serving portions are on the larger side. The meal was terrific, the prices were reasonable. Only downside was the desserts. I watched several get served and they looked delicious (and again the portions were huge). The downside, we were stuffed from dinner and just couldn't put-away a dessert, so we had to pass on that. The service was very friendly and VERY efficient. Too bad I live nowhere near this place, so for us it is gonna be an only when we are in the area type place. Right at the corner of downtown Glendora, great location, they have a small indoor area, but a lot more outdoor seating now. Pretty much a typical greasy spoon type place but honestly I cannot complain. What I didn't get to take pictures of was all their great desserts!!! We always take home pies, and other sweets, that makes it really worth it. Plus it's a great little hometown spot, staff and owner are very sweet, and i really appreciate that they really helped out during the pandemic with some of the goods that they sold. Had breakfast there recently and the bacon came so over cooked it like charcoal. Another time went for lunch and ordered a corn beef sandwich. What I received were two very thin slices of bread and a pile of bits and pieces of corn beef that kept falling out of the bottom of the sandwich. read more

Always good food and great service no matter what time of day you visit. Brought my daughter out for lunch, and we decided to share the Jakes Texas Burger. The waitress had the burger cut in half for us and we were each given a plate with our piece and our share of French fries. So many places you're given one plate to share off of. Gets pretty crowded inside so I usually get to go. You can actually get a sammich and a half if you're more hungry than one but two might be too much. Some prices seem kinda steep but so is everywhere else these days. Lately the knishes have been hitting the spot. I usually love this place but it has been getting progressively low in quality in food. Service is always good quick and very friendly. I ordered pancake combo and my wife blueberry blintzes with a side of sourdough toast. Different from what I usually get which is the French toast combo or waffle combo. Toast that was brought was dry and hard, my pancakes were lumpy and tough, my wife blintzes looked like they've been sitting in the refrigerator then grilled on one side. Pictures don't lie. Where to start!! This place is amazing, a coworker recommended it to me as a really great place to check out. I was in the area so I figured I would give it a go. As someone who is Jewish and from new York, it can be very challenging to find high quality Jewish style food out here. This place really delivers. We got the brisket plate which was incredible and it came with a potato pancake (more of a knish), salad and green beans all yum!! Their motza ball soup was super legit and the pickles were fantastic. Quality coffee and lemonade too, all at a really good price! We have two little dogs and sat outside, which I highly recommend. The chicken noodle soup is so light and flavorful with chicken and diced carrots and noodles but the best part is the huge matzo ball you get with the soup... it is one of the best matzo ball I've had! It's soo light, fluffy, moist and melts in your mouth... I crave for this soup all the time and haven't found one that can compare to this one. My co worker usually gets the liver and onions dinner plate and share with someone because the portions are big enough to share. I usually get the soup and sandwich combo and that's just the right amount of food for me. I try to get something every time and this time I got the blt sandwich and it was perfect! Cute diner on a corner of downtown Glendora! I brought my kids here and it was fantastic! I had told them we were in a hurry and the food came out pronto. But no quality was sacrificed. The Matzo ball chicken noodle soup was delicious and a hit even with my kid. My other kids enjoyed the Hawaiian omelette and the Mac n Cheese (the accompanying buttered toast and English muffin were especially yummy). Ambience was nice and quiet, cool and shaded. A while ago, I was searching on yelp for a good restaurant that offered European / delicatessen style food. I came across this restaurant. I made a note for future reference. I, along with four friends visited this restaurant today. The staff were attentive, the food was wonderful. Expectations fully met. Among the offerings that we selected were two Reuben sandwiches, a beef, brisket sandwich, an omelette with hashbrowns on the side, a chicken salad, and chicken noodle matzo ball soup, ( The matzo ball soup was very flavorful without being salty. The matzo ball, was generous in size and well-made. The soup was the best that I've ever had in a restaurant. A quart was ordered to take home.) The side dishes, specifically the sweet potato fries were thoroughly enjoyed. Dessert included , tapioca pudding, carrot cake, bread pudding with rum sauce. All the dishes were well prepared and thoroughly enjoyed. The portions were ample with food to take home. We all agreed that this restaurant was a keeper. So, we have been going to Kara's for years now and overall the food can be good, with hit or miss here and there. The sandwiches and burgers are usually great, but the fish and chips, well...the fish filets are frozen supermarket quality (think Mrs. Pauls). Where Kara's seem to be failing is that the fountain drinks have a strong taste of mildew. I personally complained to Kara herself several months ago and we waited to return until mid February thinking by then the problem would be solved. Nope. The Sprite tasted even stronger of mildew. They apparently did nothing to clean the lines. We returned the drinks and ordered bottled water instead. I ordered the Jake's BBQ burger, which was ok, the BBQ sauce was a little too sweet for me, but that could just be a personal taste thing, so I could forgive this. Overall, the restaurant is in need of redecorating. The carpet is worn and dirty, the restaurant is filled with little tchotchkes, which I guess the older crowd that frequent this diner enjoy, but a little paint and new carpet would go a long way. Overall, we will probably not return, which is sad because I really want to support a local business, but we are just not into drinking mildew flavored coke products.
