Such great food, anything on the menu is a good choice. Besides being packed full of guest all the time we enjoy going here for the ramen. We will be back! read more

Solid ramen and sushi. I came here for lunch and had the lunch special of pork house ramen and Miami roll. The portion size was perfect to slightly big which was great because I was hungry. The ramen and sushi were solidly good and the lunch special price was very reasonable around 16-17 bucks for a big bowl of ramen sushi. Ambiance would also be good for a date night or business meeting. read more

This is without a doubt the best meal I've had during the pandemic. Beautiful takeout containers with the ramen broth separate to heat up for a perfect meal! Despite being super busy, the nice guy on the phone took the time to walk me through the menu to ease my worries about my allergies. I'm hoping once things return to normal I have a chance to thank him for that. Personally had the Karai Ramen which was excellent! Broth was great, bamboo shoots tasty, and the green onions were tasty! This will definitely become a regular spot for me. read more

Karai has a great selection of food, from ramen to sushi to rice bowls. Their ramen is tasty and prepared well. Their express lunch is a great way to try a couple of things together, so that's a recommendation for a first timer to try two of their most popular items. read more

Ambiance is less "traditional" than I'd like, but different and directed more towards the college croud in my opinion. Food was subpar at best, if it was cheaper I'd rate it higher. Service was great! read more

Ramen was ok but lacking depth. There are plenty of choices on the menu. The cold brew matcha was tasty. The eel nigiri was pretty good as well. Another in our party said the crab roll was good. read more

Firstly, and most importantly... our server (michael) was kind, attentive and prompt! we ordered three specialty rolls, plus a California roll... each was perfectly balanced! the seaweed salad was amazing! fresh and crunchy with some grape tomatoes to add to the taste! we also ordered an old skool ramen, which was a bit off... but the best of the whole the strawberry macaron ice cream sandwich and the yuzu lemonade!!! five stars because I will be ordering both on the daily! sooooo good!!!! read more

Great service and you can't go wrong with any of the Ramen bowls. I've tried all but the veggie and naked but I'm sure if your a vege head you'll love those too. read more

Went late after a movie (8:00pm) for dinner. Ordered 2 asparagus with mozzarella and each of us (4) ordered main course. Two ordered rolls, one ordered teriyaki chicken and the other a noodle bowl. First out was two calamari over cooked and when told we didn't order that the server tried to say we did. So I pointed out that I even pointed to the asparagus on the menu. He left them for us saying we might as well have them. About 15 minutes later the three rolls the two ordered for their entrees came out. They were done eating when the other two entree's came out with the original ordered appetizers. We also had trouble getting refills on water all night. Don't know if server was overloaded or preoccupied but he was at our table less than half the time he was at the two other tables I watched him serving. Been here a couple of time prior to this and it was not like this. Hoping it was just an off night. read more

So incredible. Hit this spot on our way home from a road trip. Food is absolutely bananas. I'd consider driving back 8 hours for it. read more

Karai Ramen + Handroll - Karai Ramen Bowl with Chicken - Ramen Near Me - Springfield, Missouri

I love everything about Karai. I always order my meal and then a teriyaki bowl to take home because it's so good and an insane proportion.

Really not my favorite ramen or hand rolls. Ramen's broth was flavorful, the rest of the bowl was "meh". The pork was on the skimpy side. The spicy tuna hand roll was good and had good flavor, though small and really spicy (overall spicy). The food looks great in the pictures and the restaurant has great reviews, so maybe COVID and ordering takeout is the difference between then and now. read more

The food is amazing!! Compliments to the cooks in back of house!! I don't go much now that it is summer time, but in the colder months this is my go to place is Springfield. The staff is always so sweet! However the manager Ashly has an intimidating looming vibe over everything while dining, can be over looked because the place seems to run smoothly. The sushi chef is the best in town!! Always so good. read more

I was very impressed with my recent visit to Karai. I always love trying out ramen places while traveling, so on my way from OKC to Fulton, MO this was a great find. It seems like a pretty new place as everything felt very modern and clean. It quickly filled up for lunch on a Thursday as I arrived shortly after opening. I had an excellent server who was very welcoming and attentive. I ordered the lunch special with veggie fried rice and pork tonkatsu ramen. The broth had a great flavor, but the pork had a little too much fat as pork belly can easily have. I still really enjoyed everything, especially the Hitachino White Ale. I'd never seen that Japanese brewery on a menu before, so it was great to try something new. I'd be happy to come back when in the area! read more

Love the food! Service has always been on point, and it's always clean. Highly recommend this sushi place.

Service is always good and food is delicious!! We have never had anything but the best experience when we eat at Karai Ramen.

Excellent food and great service. We had sushi, ramen, and a rice bowl and all of them exceeded expectations. Really cool decor and overall 10/10 recommend! read more

Had an incredibly delicious meal here at Karai while visiting from Kansas City. Went around 5:30pm on a Tuesday and it was fairly busy. I sat at the bar and was greeted with an incredibly friendly bartender. Although I didn't drink, she is apparently well known in the area for her cocktails (so said the waitresses). I ordered the Spicy Tuna Roll and Chicken Karai Ramen w/ a soft boiled egg and it was delicious! SO MUCH FOOD!! This place is a gem in Springfield and I will without a doubt be back because I know I am guaranteed great food. read more

Me and my wife and kids were really looking forward to trying this place we walk in. Place smelled amazing. We tell them three and a high chair for our baby. And the guy just looks at me. Idk if they don't have high chairs then he should of just said so. But tables were empty all over. And he tells me, let me see if I can come up with a wait time for u. Im like ok. So we wait and other people come in and he seats them. Then he comes up to us and says it's going to be a 25-30 min wait. As I see lots of tables open. So I kindly say we will come back some other time. And he gets snippy and says yah ok. Disappointing that they can't figure out how to seat someone with a baby and family. And more so that there rude to u afterwards. read more

We had sushi. I really liked the atmosphere and I really want to actually have Ramen. One of these days I'll get back there for it. The food was delicious. The place was PACKED (always a good sign). It was a bit noisy so I'm not sure that it's great for a first date or if real conversation is a requirement for the meal. Lol. But I'd say, it's definitely worth a try. read more

Whenever you walk into the restaurant it has a super cool vibe. They did a really good job with the decor in the space. Very trendy. We started off with ordering some cocktails. Martinis of course. I had the Asian Pear Martini which was really good. Not too sweet at all. Just didn't care for the sugar on the rim. It made the glass sticky. The husband got the white grapefruit martini and he enjoyed his so much he got a second. This was our first time ever trying Ramen. So I was a little lost on what to order. So we got the Karaj Ramen with chicken which was good. The broth was beyond amazing. Seriously was the star of the show. It had great favors but was not too spicy. The chicken was really dry and did not have any flavor. We opted to not eat it at all. I wish the server would have mentioned the add ins. I just assumed it came with all the goods (like a boiled egg) We also ordered some cut rolls. The California & the spicy tuna. Which was to be expected your typical rolls. This is a great place to go for some comfort food on a cold day. read more

The ambience of this place is so chill. I love the decor and music they have going on. The servers were all doing their job and they are quick at services. I got the spicy Miso ramen and the flavor was bold. Their pork chasu was very soft and tender, very good. The ramens here are good, but i have better flavor from other cities. Its nice to have a diversity of food in springfield! My favorite are the spicy tuna hand rolls. I love to snack on roasted seawood, so that was perfect. If you want a good comfort soup, this is a spot for it. Overall its good as its get when you are in Springfield. I would come again. read more

Karai was amazing and at a great price. Have not had better ramen in a very long time.

We come here for ramen more than other ramen places in the area. We love the cheeky ramen & because it has a big enough serving, I'm able to split it with my son. (I am not a huge eater.) Just ask for an extra bowl. They have been gracious to let us do that. Sushi is also amazing like at Harunos. read more

Fantastic ramen!! We stopped by a couple months ago when we were visiting from Kansas City. Haven't been able to find anything remotely as good anywhere in KC so we drove down today to have it again, it's that good! read more

I'm a sucker for good ramen, and if I'm being honest, I don't seek it out often enough. Which is a shame, because well-made ramen is a thing of absolute beauty. (Seriously, watch Tampopo and then argue with me about it, I dare you). Today wasn't an outstanding day to start out, but by the time I was able to tear myself away for lunch, I remembered that I had bookmarked this place before heading to town. "Yes," I said to myself, "ramen will cheer me up." It did. To start, the place is located in a very inauspicious strip mall. You can easily drive past it if you're not careful. But, please... don't make that mistake. Plan your trip carefully, listen to your GPS, and do yourself the favor of dining at Karai. The server was very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu, even though from what I gathered they've only been open for a little while. I started with the beef sashimi, and yes, that's basically just raw beef. So? Fight me. It was amazing. Simply dressed with a simply delicious sauce for dipping, you won't even want to adorn it any further. Who needs a grill when beef can taste this purely of beef? The original ramen was... GIGANTIC. I did not finish, though I did put in a Herculean effort. But, it was so good. Someone who has an honest heart made that broth, someone who cares about food and the joys a bowl of soup can bring. There is a touch of heat to it, which even my wussy palette could get through. But, don't worry, you can add more or less as you want. It's not built into the broth. Each ingredient, though, even the chili paste, played its part amazingly with the rest of the dish. The pork... oh man, that pork. I was so worried about that ring of fat (not my thing, sorry), but it just disintegrated in my mouth! I'm wondering if it wasn't agar or gelee or the like, because it just melted away. Incredible! And the flavor... east meets midwest... Asian spices meet barbecue. Smoky, salty, sweet, tangy, spicy, perfection. Get the egg, too. You won't regret it. Pay the dollar and add the egg if it doesn't come with that bowl already. Trust me. I mean... what more can I say? It's a delightful hipster-meets-Japan place that really needs to be seen to be believed. And tasted, don't forget that part. Needless to say, my day was all sunshine and roses from there. Sometimes, a bowl of soup is all you need. Well, it's all I needed anyway. I would very readily go back and recommend this place to anyone. read more

This is a great restaraunt. I've had a meal w only sushi and they have a selection that will satisfy every palate. I have also had the Spicy Ramen Bowl. They will customize the spice level. Their attention to detail is spot on and it is not too fancy or expensive. In the summer, the place is kept cool , so bring a jacket. Jurassic Park Roll - is a favorite! read more

My oh my, what a refreshing change this is to the Springfield Asian food scene. No, this is not another overly-americanized Asian food offering, nor is it by any means a hole in the wall. Sure it may be in yet another strip mall, but you will forget all about that once you walk into the bright, open industrial dining room and bar. Definitely didn't expect such a hip look from the outside. The first time I went to Karai was probably within a week or 2 of opening, so there were a few kinks to work out (sold out of some menu items, some alcohol unavailable) but since then there have been no hiccups. Even on the first trip when the place was packed and menu items were out, the staff was attentive and friendly. I've never had a complaint, and the food has always been exceptionally delicious. I would definitely say Karai has the best ramen and atmosphere in Springfield. read more

This place was absolutely amazing the food was great service was splendid and everyone was so nice

I really enjoyed the food here but what I really enjoyed is the thought and effort that went into creating a wonderful atmosphere to eat and the unique plating design. Great big bowls for your ramen as well as a unique spoon unlike the typical white spoons you'd find at most ramen/Asian restaurants (boring). With that being said, I ordered the Karai Ramen as it was stated as their signature ramen dish on the menu and it was my first time here so I didn't know what to try. Everything about it was delicious! But my only complaint and suggestion to the owner is to add more meat and a soft egg! It was basically soup, noodles, bean sprouts, and a very small piece of pork belly. read more

Holy cow was this place good!!! All five of my family members were able to find something to feast on. I got the California roll and the spicy tuna! This filled me up with the great portion sizes! My family was able to find ramen to their hearts desire. We all felt this was a place to be if in town. The service from our waitress was amazing. She checked in us multiple times to make sure everything was great! I loved this place so much, and would definitely come here again! read more

The same people who brought you Kai and Haruno hit it out of the park again with this masterpiece of culinary excellence. Restaurants with this much hype usually fall short of their reputation, but Karai is everything you've heard it is and more. I sampled something from nearly every aspect of the menu during a recent visit - the signature ramen (as spicy as possible, with an egg), the hot stone beef sorboro bowl, two handrolls, a serving of green tea creme brûlée, the wasabi cucumbers, ika tempura and yes, even some sake. Without fail, every bite, sip and slurp brought with it an avalanche of intriguing flavor and unique ingredients. And although the ambiance is certainly less intimate than Kai or Haruno (the cafeteria-like layout is pretty noisy), the lighting and steampunk-inspired decor are on point. The service is similarly impressive and the speed with which the food arrives piping hot and ready to enjoy is without parallel. Needless to say, I quickly became a fan, and you can bet I'll be a frequent visitor in the future. read more

I've never had a bad meal here. Excellent every time from Ramen to Sushi it's always great

When we heard through the grapevine about a new ramen shop we were thrilled as it is just about our favorite meal. We went for lunch since they haven't officially opened for evening meals as of today. We had a short lunch break so we got our ramen to go which I don't think diminished the food at all. We both had the house special ramen with the pork broth which was delicious. We were asked about adding a soft boiled egg which we did and it was cooked perfectly. The pork belly floating in the broth was tender and tasty as well. I really liked the spice level option which I am not normally asked about. The rich broth at a medium spice level was pretty darn excellent. I do like a few extras in my bowl like fish cakes and corn and these are available among their items for an additional charge. The cost for two house specials with egg was just under $25.00 which I thought was fair for the quality of the broth and noodles. We were in too much of a hurry to order the sushi but what we saw looked good. It looked like all of their cut rolls and hand rolls come on nori which is not one of my favorite foods as I prefer soy paper instead. The service staff all seemed happy and very concerned about being on point and answering questions of ramen newbies. The decor is warm and inviting and honestly one of the most appealing interiors in town. I look forward to going back to try what looks like a very fun bar menu and their other interesting offerings. read more

This place was incredible. Came up from Columbia and gave it a try while I was in town and let me tell you it will amaze you how great the food is here. After I tasted the broth and was soooo impressed, I asked the owner how she could make something so great and she showed me the kitchen. I'm a medical student but I'm also a huge foodie interested in cooking as a hobbie so she gave me a peek in the kitchen and explained that the broth alone takes 10 hours. So there's DEFINITELY high class quality at this restaurant. I got asahi beer, takoyaki, steamed buns, karai ramen, old school ramen, and hand rolls. KARAI RAMEN was sooo good! Would definitely recommend!! The asahi beer was also pretty good. read more
