Been looking for a brake kit for a Shelby waiting for repair. Every where else was out of stock but Kanter still had some. I placed the order and a week later I still had not received notice if they had been shipped. I called customer service and then I was told that when they went to pull the parts that the bin was empty. The inventory was wrong. It would have been nice if I had been told earlier instead of having told my customer the parts were on the way. Don't trust their inventory. read more

I have been looking for a replacement fuel pump for my 1972 CJ6 jeep with a 232 engine. I have purchased several pumps locally and none where correct. I went as far as ordered one from Crown Automotive and it was not correct. When I stumbled on Kanters ad, the picture of the pump they stated was mine, look correct. I ordered the pump from Kanter. It arrived with in 3 working days. The pump did not match mine by appearance, I tried to install their pump only t find out that is did nit fact fit. I was able to drive the jeep after the installation was finished. For my first purchase from Kanter, I am very happy with the parts, and the time it took. Absolutely terrible. I wish I could give ZERO stars. I ordered a water pump for a customer's 1959 Cadillac Coupe de Ville (because they were closest to me. Lesson learned). After installing it, my belt alignment was way off, over 1/4 inch. Speaking to the "head tech" he tells me to measure the difference between the original and "Kanter" unit and call him back, which i do 15 minutes later. I got his voicemail and left a message. No call back that night, no call back the next morning by 1030 AM. I called back with a reply of "I didn't have time to check my voicemail yet." I proceeded to explain my issue and was told, "We sent you the correct part; something is wrong on my end." Fine, any advice or input to help correct? I can't help you, but we gave you the correct part, I'm told. Then "Dan," who once again is the head tech, tells me, "You must have an issue with your brackets. If he knew ANYTHING about a 59, he would know there is no adjustment with the brackets other than tension. Not being a Cadillac expert myself, I called three other very reputable Caddy shops and am told by all of them that the pump they sell is for later models and will not work correctly on a '59. So now im out nearly $300 and a car with no pump while i search for one. Please do not do business with them. For those from Kanter or others, thinking maybe I am at fault. This company advertised incorrect parts in their catalog and then sent them to us. We had them installed ---and of course they didn't work because they were incorrect000but we didn't know that until the install was halfway done. Parts were door seals so they can't be pulled out and sent back for the correct ones because they are wrecked having been glued down. And, the company admitted that the catalog was wrong, (after we called the manufacturer) but won't issue replacements for free. We have to pay for replacements because we "ruined" the first ones. This is for your Packer Department , I ordered two rear shocks for a 1941 Packard they said it would be two weeks two weeks went by shocks Steel have not arrived I called the Packer Department to see what the holdup was they said they did not know and it would be another two weeks. I have been doing business with Kanter products for number of years I have rebuilt a total Packard engine and it didn't take but a week for the engine rebuild kit to come I ordered two rear shocks and I'm having problem getting them and getting a decent answer as to why not have never had complaints until now there has to be a better way and quicker way to process orders for customers especially when you want their money upfront, still waiting on my parts have missed two big car shows because of two rear shocks. Kanter Auto Products has been in business since 1960 which is no surprise to me after being there to help a family member get a shaft and rocker arms for his 1960 Continental. I have to tell you their office is the coolest place if you're a car lover - there are all sorts of Packard memorabilia and, as a lady, I was treated with the utmost respect. If you're a girl, you'll know what I mean - most of the time "car places" are not where we meet with any degree of respect. Well, Kanter is different - I had an awesome experience here. The office isn't big but it's busy. These folks have all the replacement parts for American cars and trucks from antiques to the 1930-1986 years. You go to the office to place your order and then you take a short drive to the warehouse which is an experience in itself. On the 2nd floor of a huge 19th century building that had to be a factory once, you enter an open room where no one is. Just all sorts of stuff and no one's there. OK, you see a guy in the back and he tells you to go over there. Over there you find the office and no one notices you. This is really amusing - there are 2 guys in a tandem office set up and they're both on the phone talking to cutomers non stop. They're not rude - they're just so obsessed talking to a customer about cars that you can understand it. The minute they notice you (and it only took a couple), a gentleman stands up and I'm the only focus he has. Customer service is truly excellent. He gets someone else to help me right away and pretty soon I'm travelling from one end of the place to another. Then I'm waiting a few minutes to get it all and during that time out of nowhere 2 people walk by asking me if I need any help. This was definitely a trip back to 1960. They were all happy, they were all polite and the place is filled to the brim with tons of parts. It's a blast just to walk up and down the ailses seeing that all these things exist and some are even still made in the US. The place works like a clock. I was there only about 20 minutes and UPS truck after UPS truck was coming up to the loading bay carting away delivery boxes. This place was like a trip back in time and it was fun. This is a place where they don't think I'm weird because I love talking about cars and engines. That's all they do after all. The parts I came back with were a perfect match for the originals my family member took out of the engine. So if you love old American cars or trucks, have one and need a part, get in touch with this place. It's great. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I'm not experienced enough on these things. read more

No way. Do not deal with this place ever. Ordered a part then had to return it. Paid for shipping and took the effort to send it back, then nothing. No return money refunded, no acknowledgement that part was received although it could be easily proven that they got it, no response to email requests regarding status of return. Arrogant disregard for customer inquiries, they basically stole my part back. I calculated the time and money it would take to drive there and confront them and they are fortunate they were just shy of me wasting my time to collect because this place needs a visit to put them in line. This place is total BS. Small time thieves with no integrity, a joke of a company that hides from situations rather than resolve them. Do not subject yourself to such pathetic standards and avoid any business with them at all cost because its not business they are doing, it is stealing. read more

I've had a bad customer service experience. This is my first time using this company. I have a 1956 Buick Century with a 322 Nailhead. I ordered a rebuilt fuel pump and water pump. They shipped me a fuel pump that came with an extra casting on the top side of the pump that interfered with the cylinder head and wouldn't bolt on without serious damage. I sent pictures depicting what the problem was to customer service. I got in touch with Dan in customer service who informed me that I was comparing their 1956 pump to my pump which was, in fact, a 1955. With that information I went back to my boxes of tear-down parts and realized that I had pulled the pump for a 1955 in error and did have the correct 1956 core to compare to. I resent pictures depicting my 1956 core and how their pump was still incorrect. After 2.5 weeks of no answer of emails and no returned phone calls I finally got a hold of customer service. I spoke with the gentleman for some time explained to him the situation. He proceeded to tell me that I have a 1955 engine in my vehicle. I have done all my correct research and my block casting numbers, head numbers, manifolds etc are all 1956 Buick. No question. I owned that it was my error for grabbing the 1955 pump initially to take pictures of and asked him to kindly disregard the initial pictures. I told the gentleman that I had resent pictures of my 1956 pump depicting the differences in the head design and the interference. From there I was told that now it's their policy that they will not issue a call tag and that I have to ship it back AT MY EXPENSE. Ship their incorrect part back, at my expense. Return shipping is going to be more expensive than the pump. I owned my mistake and fixed it. They haven't owned up to theirs. As I said previously, this is my first time using this company and unfortunately probably the last time. Find another company as these guys don't stand behind their mistakes at all. read more
