Banana blossom

Despite the insanely heavy use of AI generated pictures and captions all over their Instagram, was looking forward to having a modern and regional Indian spot with a cocktail program take over this spot in Juanita. Having no notion of Bengali food but loving Indian food overall, came in with an extremely open mind and eager palate. Service is great and gave us some recommendations to guide our selections. - Banana blossom fritter: hearty, and packed with goodness. Recommend this - Fish cutlet: Don't love that this was tilapia given this is a higher end spot as indicated by their overall menu pricing... The breading was thick but crunchy and the coconut in it was nice - Sorse Bhindi (okra): pretty salty - Goat curry: bone-in, tender, spicy Tandoori naan: one piece on the small side for $7 is a bit steep Tried 4 of their cocktails. They're all pretty much plays on the classics, subbing for Indian ingredients very subtly -- nothing that will shock your tastebuds. Will monitor as they get past their soft opening and potentially tune their menu. As of yet, doesn't make it on my list of rotations.

The ambience and service is amazing! Has high end restaurant feel once you are inside. There is street parking. The food is good! We tried a bunch of small plates, our favorite was the fish fry. The mutton biryani is a must try, the mutton is very tender, it just falls apart from the bone, the best mutton biryani I have had in the east side. We also tried the aam pora sherbet, it was okay

Great flavors, fabulous service, and a lovely ambience! They're serving delicious, authentic Bengali food, which I haven't come across much in the Seattle area and especially not done this well. It was refreshing to see these flavors represented so thoughtfully and authentically. Especially impressive for a restaurant that has just opened, the food came out quickly, service was prompt, and everything felt surprisingly smooth for a new spot. The only "complaint" is that the music was a tad too loud for conversation. Otherwise, we had a great experience. On to the food: The Ballygunge Fish Cutlet was crispy, flavorful, and beautifully flaky, paired with a mustard dipping sauce that worked perfectly with it. The Mangsher Chop was an absolute flavor bomb, rich, savory, and deeply satisfying. My favorite dish of the night was the Chingri Malai Curry. Subtle, unique, comforting, and beautifully balanced. This was the dish I kept going back to. Lastly, we had the Mutton Biryani, which was punchy and a true cacophony of flavors, in the best possible way. Overall, a really promising new restaurant with fantastic food, attentive service, and a great atmosphere. I'd happily come back!

Came here on a weekday evening, i think its new in a nice area so less crowd. Nobody was there when i went on Wednesday evening. I was offered to check the buffet which i did but i wanted only 1 dish. I ordered nihari and naan. The menu was on QR code so fancy of them. Nihari was meh, not great but it didnt have that taste of nihari or look. Naans were good, soft and fluffy , this place cut it into 4 pieces. Then for dessert i got gulab jamun and Chai. Gulab jamun presentation was fancy and had 3 pieces. And chai was a normal cup coulda been cooked a bit longer with milk . Gulab jamun was good, no complaints Idk if its a seattle thing, but everything is REALLY PRICEY up here. Chai one cup for 5.99 is just mindblowing. Down where i am from its 2.50 with free refills or only 1-2. Also nihari bieng like over $20 is just shocking. Maybe its how it is up here im not sure, but yes i hope this place improves on the nihari,

At time of my visit, Zoq was a newly opened restaurant and a fresh addition to downtown Kirkland. The newness is obvious with its sparkling interior and refreshing food. Comes to the food, their Naans are incredibly fresh, soft, and flavorful. The chapali kabab, Paya, and Hallem portions are generous and delicious--I enjoyed all of them! Their tandoori chai, Punjabi lassi, mint cooler, and kheer are not so great. Overall, the barbecue and naans are really tasty and satisfying. I would probably skip their drinks and desserts, but it's definitely worth a visit if you're craving good barbecue.

We were lucky enough to reserve a table for two on Saturday evening. Our table was ready when we…read morearrived, and we were seated right away. The thali was presented in a wonderfully traditional manner, which immediately set the tone for the experience. There were 16 different items, and everything tasted authentic and thoughtfully prepared. The stars of the meal for me were the Bajri Raab and the Ghewar--both absolutely outstanding. The service was courteous, and we thoroughly enjoyed the overall experience. A couple of suggestions for improvement: when the thali is served, it would be helpful if the person presenting it could briefly explain each dish and perhaps suggest how certain items are traditionally paired or eaten. That would make the experience even more immersive, especially for those unfamiliar with Rajasthani cuisine. Also, the plate felt a bit small for the number of ramekins. There was very little room left for the rice, and the chutney and pickle kept sliding underneath the ramekins, making things a bit messy. A slightly larger plate would make the meal much more comfortable to enjoy. Finally, please continue hosting thali festivals featuring cuisines from different regions of India. That's a fantastic concept, and we'd love to return for more regional culinary experiences.

Update: dropping this from 4 stars to 3, purely because of inconsistency…read more Our first order from Jashn had some genuinely excellent dishes, which is why this visit was such a letdown. The biggest disappointment was the Kakori Mutton Seekh. Last time, it was easily the star of the meal; soft, delicate, beautifully seasoned, and practically melt-in-your-mouth. This time? The complete opposite. Dry, dense, and shockingly hard. For a dish that impressed me so much the first time around, the drop in execution was hard to ignore. Interestingly, the aloo kulcha actually improved. There was noticeably more aloo this time. Unfortunately, the chole went in the opposite direction. Last time it had heat, but there was flavor and complexity underneath it. This time it tasted like spice for the sake of spice; plenty of heat, but very little depth or actual flavor coming through. And that's ultimately my issue here: consistency. I know what these dishes can taste like because I've had them here before, which makes such a dramatic difference from one order to the next even more disappointing. There are clearly some very good flavors coming out of this kitchen, but, I need the execution to be more dependable. 3 stars for now.

The food was absolutely incredible. I got a mango lassi and a paneer tikki masala dosa. The mango lassi was sweet, creamy, and had a subtle spice flavor. The dosa was a real showstopper. It came out quick and incredibly crispy, filled with tender chunks of paneer. The tikki masala flavor was perfect with the crispy lentil crepe, especially when dipped in the various chutneys. I'm unsure of what the chutneys/sauces are called, but they were so delicious. The cherry on top was meeting Pradish. He was the cashier and server while I was there and one of the friendliest people I've ever met. You can tell there's a lot of pride and love that goes into this restaurant and I'm definitely coming back when I'm in the area. Amazing food and even better people!!!

I was pleasantly surprised to see a steady stream of people coming in. I had a vada sambar for appetizer, Malabar parotta with Chakka (jackfruit) potato stew. Vadas were fresh and crispy-- and I was satisfied with the chutneys and sambar too. Good meaty raw jackfruit with chunky potatoes in a coconut milk gravy made for a hearty and comforting stew. Parottas were flaky and delicious. Spice levels were perfect too. Very satisfying service-- the girl who waited on us was extremely attentive and sweet. The one star I deducted was the lack of an ADA parking lot in the property. I didn't see one anywhere near the entrance.
