We came for the lunch buffet on a Sunday. It used to be busy but we were the only ones in there at noon. They didnt have the lights on and they only had very small portions on the buffet. Which were not hot at all. Even though we were the only people there the entire time we still had to ask to get a water refill and they never cleared any of our used plates. The food itself was good enough- decent portion sizes, average flavor, good ratio of meat and veggies to sauce. I did notice that they have inconsistent spice levels... I ordered a 4 out of 6 spicy level and it was not spicy AT ALL. My son got a 3 of 6 and his did have a kick to it. Also, If you're in a hurry this place is a bit slow, but we were not in a hurry. Located in a strip mall, Kanak was spacious and clean inside with casual, classic decor. I had purchased a Groupon, and we had no issues using it. We usually try to make it a point to mention it early on, so there aren't any misunderstandings. Since we had the deal, we had no choice but to order off the menu...which is a good thing because I otherwise eat wayyy too much at Indian buffets. We started with an appetizer that we hadn't tried before. I can't remember what it was called, but it consisted of crispy fried bread stuffed with onions and some other veggies and spices. We also had Paneer Bhatura, which is crispy layered fried bread stuffed with homemade cheese and Paneer Makhanni, which is kind of our go-to order. If you haven't tried it before, this is homemade cheese cubes cooked in tomato and cream sauce. It was really creamy, and everything was really tasty overall. read more

We used to love this place. We ordered delivery today and the food was prompt. However, the food was cold and dripping with grease. It even dripped on our couch. Some of the appetizers seemed to be from yesterday. The paneer was as hard as a rock, the chicken was rubber. I wouldn't order from Kanak unless you have a steel stomach that can handle old, cold greasy food. We have to find a new Indian place because we won't order from here ever again.... read more

My boyfriend and I had a really great experience at Kanak India. We were in the area and haven't had Indian food for a while. We saw the great reviews and decided to try it. Everything was perfect from beginning to end. We were seated and was waited on right away. Our server was very generous and took our drink orders. We split a 6oz of the Taj Mahal Beer, then got two Vegetarian (Potato) Samosas (very delicious and had a great spicy flavor) For dinner we ordered: Matter Paneer: Fresh mild cheese gently cooked with tender green peas and spices. & Chicken Saag Chicken pieces cooked with lightly spiced spinach and cream. You get to pick the spice level 1-5 (5 was extremely hot) I picked 4. Then we got a side of Garlic Nan bread. Indian Rice came with our meal. We got our meals right away (less than 15 minutes). OMG!!! I really enjoyed the paneer! The sauce was so good that I used my nan (loved it! Very fresh, soft and great amount of garlic) bread to dip it in. The rice that came with our meals even had great flavor! My boyfriend really enjoyed his chicken saag! I got to try it and protein was very tender and had good heat (spicy). Our server checked on us and asked if we needed more rice and water. Very friendly! We cleaned out our plates and didn't have to take any leftovers home. It was that good. One of my favorite Indian restaurants in Cincinnati. I recently got the chicken tikka masala with a 5 spice rating and it was delectable. Their pricing is similar to other Indian restaurants and the pick up times are accurate when they aren't busy. The staff are family and treat you kindly. I also pick up DoorDash orders from here and I remember one time when I hadn't picked up the drink and they ran it out to me to ensure the customer got their entire order. read more

I just stopped in for lunch and ordered the Chicken Shahi Korma. It was amazing! The sauce was season so well it was creamy with nuts and raisins. It also had small bits of paneer cheese in it. The chicken chunks were moist and not overcooked with no grizzle, very enjoyable! I also ordered the garlic naan which was perfectly crispy and very large. It was also seasoned amazingly, buttery, with fresh herbs. When I walked in the place was empty which had me a little worried. So I was beyond surprised when I tasted the food. And the waitress was very kind and sweet. She said they usually get very busy during dinner with takeout orders so that would explain the calm lunch hour. I've eaten here in the past and it was just okay. But after this latest meal I'll definitely be returning very soon. read more

I Kanak eat their food anymore. Change of ownership was a total downgrade. Ive eaten here for 15 years .Just got Chicken curry basically soupy and pureed. Also Saab paneer which had basically no cheese cubes which is the epitome of the dish. Baby food was what we ended up with only a couple cheese cubes. We went for the buffet and it was lunch time. The buffet was about 8 dishes and only two of them with meat and very little at that. Most of the dishes very little food and dried out from sitting under a lamp. No deserts and salad bar almost non-existent. Soda was brought to us in a can and given a glass so not a fountain drink - we didn't ask but probably no "refills." The real deal-breaker was that they hit us for almost $16 a person. Only worth half of that at best. Best to spend your money at the Tandor India around the corner or go to a Chinese buffet. We will never go back. read more

We were here with a group for a birthday celebration. The owner and wife waited on us. We probably took up half the restaurant. No fluff here! Everything efficient, straight and to the point. Food was excellent! It came out rather quickly, Being how there were so many if us who ordered it was staggered but to be expected with a group our size. Drink refills were constant and timely. The third time, my order took over an hour to be delivered, with no explanation as to what took so long. Also, I ordered extra rice, which was not provided. I also ordered paneer naan and what I received was regular naan and my entree was too spicy. Also, $3.89 for a 12oz can of coke is ridiculous but the size wasnt listed on the menu. 20 oz, I could see, but not for 12oz. Sadly, I wont be ordering from here again. This place is pretty good. I tried this because a friend suggested it. My only complaint is I'd like to see more vegetables. There was a goat dish and a few chicken dishes in a bunch of sauce. There was a tofu dish. Some warm carrot dessert that I'd never tried, it was delicious.$10 for the lunch buffet was a little more than I usually pay for the Indian buffet. I have always had a great experience here so I'm bummed about this review. I hope management sees and makes a change. After ordering online, I arrived past the estimated time to secure a quick pick up only to find it CLEARLY had not started. I waited 15 minutes after arriving. The gentleman working told myself and another take out customer it would be 2 minutes a couple of times. The only reason I don't give five stars is because the food lacks heat/spice. Ordered lamb and goat biryani. I'm from Hyderabad, India which is famous for biryani. kanak failed epicly in getting the taste right. They served the same rice with just different meat. It's essentially veg biryani with meat mixed up. It tasted awful. Curries is a better place than this. PS: You don't put peas in biryani. read more

Quaint strip mall dining with buffet. Recommended by a friend and went on Sunday after church, nobody but the husband/wife team cook/server visible. Buffet was good and included a veggie dish. Was looking for tikka masala but not present. Asked and found out it will be tomorrow (probably does a good lunch crowd weekdays). Not as good as Indian Cafe in Loveland IMHO but satisfactory. I've always enjoyed Kanak's food until I "accidentally" ordered the wrong thing from their horrible website! Instead of offering to correct the issue I was told well that's what you ordered. Not to mention how easy it is to select the wrong item on their unfortunate ordering system. I always order the same thing, as I'm sure they can see. What happened to the customer is always right? I was skeptical when I saw the 3.5 star (at this date) average rating but oh how unjust that is! This place is fantastic. Tandoori chicken is among the best I've ever had and the onions and peppers that are caramelized on and under it mixed with the tandoori spices were incredible. We got it with no spice for my daughters and they absolutely loved it as well which says a lot coming from those picky eaters. My wife likes chicken tika masala and was incredibly impressed with the dish she got there. As for me I'm a fan of heat in lamb vindaloo. There was a tangy front note before the warmth of a slow building heat came in. I could have handled more heat but I was also not disappointed - super impressed with the overall flavor. And of course the naan - we got a regular and a garlic naan that were wonderful. If I was to criticize anything, and that's hard to do here, the naan was thinner than were used to but still very delicious and it's by no means enough to take away from a solid 5 star rating. We will be back!!! Easily the best Indian within 10 min of our house that we've encountered!!! read more

Called in carry out, they said 30 minutes, we got to the restaurant 40 minutes later and the food was not ready, pretty sure they hadn't even started making it. Had our 1 year old child In the car waited 40 minutes as they kept telling us 5 more minutes. We finally straight left and the food still wasn't ready.
