Very good food, I had the vegetarian plate with seaweed salad and garlic edamame. Lots of flavor and very filling. Soy curls (I wish someone would figure out a more appetizing name for these) had a really good sauce and texture. I got this from the food truck, not the restaurant. First time here and I would probably not come back. The food was all mediocre, but in comparison to 808 or Roxies, Kama'aina just didn't work out for me. The Kalbi seasoning was off, very different from any other I've had and did not smell the best to be honest. The meat was also to fatty. The Macaroni was the best thing on the plate and the reason for two stars and not one. We ordered furikake fries but got regular fries. I ordered a combo but they put the order in as two meals so we ended up having to pay for more food than we had intended to. Visiting my friends at Pacific U and heard about their new Hawaiian place and had to check it out. The restaurant itself is very clean and inviting atmosphere. Bathrooms were spacious and clean. Theres an ample amount of seating with a private room in the back. The service was slow, maybe because they're new and still getting everything together. Be prepared for a wait for your food. The food was pricey and a bit salty but tasted authentic and worth it if your badly craving food from home. I got "the big one" hawaiian plate which had kalua pig, lau lau, squid luau, chicken long rice, and lomi salmon. This was a $16 which was a little overpriced to me because im in college myself. My friend got the li hing pineapple snow ice and loved it and would come just for it. It was average price around $8. Overall if they could speed up their service a bit and lower everything on the menu by a $1 or $2 this would be a favorite for college kids and their families. read more

On top of that, they didn't even try to compensate the Mac salad for anything but extra rice or green salad! PLEASE! Not even lomilomi or poi!! BIG FAIL!! The manager was not in that day was out. The young workers was only planning around, wasn't even crowded! On top of that disappointment, we decided to order dessert and we should've known that was going to be another BIG FAIL! We waited at least 40 minutes for dessert....we decided to tell them to CANCEL our dessert order because it was taking way too long!! Born and raised in Hawaii this was just ok. The Korean Chicken was not up to par (I can make this at home) the LauLau was lacking and there was no butterfish, which is just black cod in the mainland. The poke I really enjoyed it's just really hard since I am a rather good cook especially with Hawaiian food and I just expect restaurants to out do me. I am from Hawaii, so I wanted to try this new Hawaiian food restaurant in Forest Grove. The restaurant and ambiance is very nice and clean. Unlike other Hawaiian food places, it is full service. The waiters and staff are friendly. However, the wait for your food does take pretty long even if they are not super crowded. Also, if you are familiar with traditional Hawaii food, there is a slight mainland twist to the taste. Meals here are all mostly $10 and up, so a little pricey for Hawaiian food.. Warning: the ahi tuna dishes I've tried so far (the seared ahi salad and shoyu poke bowl) are a bit salty. Update: the spicy ahi bowl is delicious! Also, their Korean chicken plate keeps improving! Another update: their hours are pretty limited. They close by 8pm, and if you walk in 10 minutes before 8pm they won't serve you! Even if you know what you want to order. Or that's what happened to us. This is one of the reasons why I put 3 stars. When I was at Pac Thai one night (another restaurant in Forest Grove), they sat and served a customer who walked in less than 10 minutes before closing. read more

Had dinner with my Army buddy from Hawaii and he was blown away by how good everything was. Just like home.

This place was a very nice surprise for me. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very relaxed and comfy. The waiter who served me was really nice and helped me understand the menu as I wasn't very familiar with Hawaiian foods. I ended up going with their tuna poke bowl which was amazing. The tuna was a nice fresh red color glazed in a marinade that gave it a taste I really, REALLY enjoyed. While the bowl looked small, I found myself surprisingly satisfied at the end as they served a pretty generous amount of tuna. I will definitely be coming back often! read more

During another visit to Forest Grove, Oregon a must stop at Kama'aina for some Hawaiian food. This was our last weekend (Saturday 8/31) in Oregon before heading back to Honolulu after getting our daughter settled at school. Our group of seven were very disappointed when we walked in at 8:30 and the waitress informed us we could only do take out since they were about to close at 9:00. I walked outside to check the hours of operation and to see if there was any information regarding take out hours. We asked to speak to a manager, and Sierra B was happy to seat our party. While we were getting settle at our table, another party of three just ordered. We couldn't understand why we were told we couldn't be seated when we first arrived. Big Mahalos to Sierra B. She gave us a 5 star service and just made us forget about the take out problem we encountered when we first arrived. The Laulau, Kalua Pork, Korean Chicken, Kalbi, Poki and Smoke Meat were fabulous as always. Again, hats off the Sierra B, this is one employee that knows ALOHA!!! All of the staff are really nice, especially the owner, Kevin. He's so passionate about the restaurant and wanted to bring a portion of Hawaii to Oregon. Solid Hawaiian food! Went to the soft opening and came back today for the full menu. This is not a plate lunch kind of place so be prepared for things to cost a bit more. But portions are very large and the restaurant is beautiful. Staff is attentive and friendly, though still learning the menu. We learned today they're going to open a take out window with shaved ice and other more local Hawaiian things. That's so great!! The ahi salad is delicious. Dressing is light and so fresh. I usually get dressing on the side because it overpowers the salad and makes it wilt but this did not. Spam musubi was killer! And poke is simply delicious. I prefer the bowl over the appetizer. I was not a huge fan of the Korean chicken but I had it at the soft opening so I might try it again now that they have mini portions. The regular portions really are huge. He ran the kitchen for her. So when it comes to authentic Hawaiian food we know what that is. This restaurant by far surpasses our standards. My dinner last night was one of the best meals I've had in a long time! I usually get the chicken katsu curry, which is amazing, but I decided to try the katsu chili moco this time and I now have a new favorite. The drink selection is also great, although they were down to only two working beer taps last night. The mango margarita with li hing mui on the rim was very tasty.
