Had a wonderful experience at this mediterranean hidden gem in Tempe! Kalos is a build your own mediterranean grill offering build your own bowls, wraps, and plates. All of the food is super authentic and the spot is owned by an immigrant family. The service was wonderful, they were very passionate about their food and it showed! Everyone was so friendly. Perfect spot to grab a quick easy, reasonably priced, authentic mediterranean meal! Inside is very casual. I built my own bowl with beef shawarma and the shawarma was perfectly cooked and seasoned. This meat was recommended to me and I see why! I also tried the sampler platter with all of their goodness piled into a massive tray. My favorites from this platter were the falafel, their pita and tahini, and their baba ghanoush. Plus, their baklava was to die for!!

Ordered dinner from DoorDash. The 1/3 lb angus burger was moist & delicious. The falafel was crispy & tasty. The fried mushrooms were not good at all. Definitely will not order those again. Would definitely get the burger again.

I'm a fan of this fast casual establishment. I didn't really know this complex existed but on my way to try Dirty Dough next door, I saw this place and decided to give it a try since I needed to find something for lunch (although some would argue that eating cookies is lunch itself). Kalos Grill had a promotion on the window with for lunch specials for $6. While they had several appealing options on their menu, I opted for a gyro pita. If the gyro is good, you know the place is good, am I right?! I appreciated the fact that we could see our order being made and the transparency of their ingredients and the assembling of my order. The owner came walked in the middle of my experience at this establishment and he was so nice. He greeted me, made sure I was taken care of and ensured that I was being charged the right amount for my order. I was accidentally overcharged but he made sure I got the difference back. He also said bye on my way out. That interaction alone made me like the place without even taking a bite of the pita. The gyro pita was fabulous and I'm not just saying that because Kalos had great customer service. The gyro was tasty and they gave me a hefty amount of meat. It was flavorful and I liked the additional veggies to really balance out the sandwich. The pita texture was great and it had a great bread to filling ratio. The gyro was filling and I didn't feel hungry until hours later. Since I work in Tempe, I'm happy to know that I have some great options while support small businesses that know how to do it right!

I've written before about small family run businesses. But some don't live up to their hype, Kalos Grill on the other hand is exceptional. My coworker Cam and I were headed next door for the Tuesday Chicken special, but stopped here instead. Both of us are glad we did. First, a word about the owner, Peter. He is an amazing ambassador for his business. As we walked in, he greeted us warmly and asked if this was our first visit. Since it was, he brought over samples of Steak, saffron flavored rice and chicken. He's incredible fun guy who came to The Valley to attend GCU. He kept coming over offering us other food items to enjoy. Wow! Suffice it to say our meal was incredible. I ordered a Gyro ($6.95) and Cam the Steak. He skipped his Keto fast to order the steak after trying it. Yes, it was that good! See photos. My order was less than $9, including a soda. Great new place. RIP FlameBroiler! Long live Peter and his Kalos Grill. Enjoy!

I was staying at the nearby hotel and wanted a healthy meal that wouldn't break the bank. I found Kalos Grill to fit the ticket. I eat as close to whole food plant based as I can so this place really met my needs. I'm glad I used Yelp to find my way to their counter. My Rice bowl with veggies and hummus was delicious. I also had a small sample of their lentil soup ant that was good too. Give it a shot. I am giving it a high rating mostly because of the service. The guys who helped me were awesome and oh so courteous.

This review is based on an Ubereats delivery. I ordered the meat shawarma but I think I actually got the filet mignon as it was all beef and so tender. Hubby had the gyros plate and reluctantly shared with me! The gyro meat is very not dry and very flavorful. The saffron rice was well seasoned an perfect texture. However, the vegetables was just reheated frozen vegetables with a dab of butter and salt. The cilantro jalapeño hummus was very flavorful, much better than the roasted pepper hummus. We got a deal where we got a free order of hummus if we spend over $20. So we got the plain hummus and it was decent. A bit lighter on garlic and tahini, may have been slightly watered down. The pita was probably just store bought, nothing to rave about but came warm, wrapped in tin foil. Overall, great solid food. I will definitely order from Kalos again!

I ask for my salad in separate box, you get more and dressing doesn't mix with rice. Very fresh.

After telling James, the owner, about the hard and dry Al Pastor I wrote about in my first 3 star review on 12/17/20, he said he removed Al Pastor right away from his menu, because he found his employees (like college age kids) did not take the care to grill the expensive cuts of pork that he chooses to purchase, so that it isn't overcooked. Indeed Al Pastor is no longer on the backlit menu board. Kalos Grill has the best gyros I ever had in my life! I found other restaurants' gyros, like Green Corner in Mesa, was always dried out, because the restaurant keeps it on the heat source turning and turning while all the juices drip out and moisture in the meat dissipates. Well smart James puts small amounts of freshly shaved gyros in a covered steamer, so the meat stays moist, soft, and hot. When supply gets low, he shaves more, so the steam doesn't blanch out the flavor. James told me he buys the best quality gyros he can get. Then the freshly made jalapeno and cilantro hummus is so addictive, I could eat a whole big bowl with a spoon in no time, like you would eat a bowl oatmeal. But it is expensive for a small container. Everything tastes so good. Salad is so fresh, the dressing is sooooo "homemade". You can taste the fresh herbs in the salad. I had chicken wings here, too, pretty good. They let me pick only the flats and fry to order for me. I eat here with a Local Flavor 50% off voucher that I buy when LF has 25% off sales and I usually order the same thing: One pound of gyros for $15, and $5 worth of the jalapeno and cilantro hummus. I have a class in the industrial area near Kalos Grill every Monday at 7 pm, so I come here to eat, before I go to class. James had to cut back on his hours because all the thousands of workers in this industrial area, now work from home. I saw James turn away people who arrived at 6:30 on Monday (I only come Mondays due to my class nearby). Before Covid, James said seven employees at the counter could not keep up with the business, and they worked sooo hard! Now it's like I am the only one there at 6 pm Monday nights. James is good to me, treats me like family! I don't have any family. So I hope you go eat here often, and support this business. Yum ! The gyros smells SOOOOO GOOD in the takeout box in my car!

I want to preface this 3 star review by saying that the food here is good! I really enjoyed my Philly Cheesesteak Pita and my girlfriend went for the Gyro Fries which were BOMB.COM (sauces also) Service was something to be questioned on the day I was in though. Masks were present, but workers did not wear gloves behind the counter and beyond into the kitchen (yikes). In addition to this we had to repeat our order 4 separate times (twice after paying), field inhospitable service staff, and ultimately missing a few extra sauces we asked for in the order. My advice, get an order delivered and make sure it's all there! Ultimately the food is worth a 4 star; so no need to deal with the 2 star service.

This place is a little hidden, as the sign is not up yet...but...you have to try it! My co-worker told me about it, so we went the next day, and I will be back next week! This little spot is a short walk from the Double Tree in Tempe. The food is fresh and delicious. We had the gyros sandwich, Greek salad and jalapeño cilantro hummus. All the food was good. We found this place when visiting another favorite that had gone out of business. The owner greeted us when we came in and explained all the options. He gave us a sample of almost everything while we were waiting. The hummus was decent. The garlic sauce was the best I've ever had. The feta changed my life. It's not like any feta I've ever had. It was clearly fresh and authentic, with an amazing flavor. I had a rice bowl with steak, which was filet, and it was cooked perfectly. Lots of rice (maybe a bit much), cooked veggies, and other fresh toppings are available. My husband had the pork on his rice bowl. It was sweet and spiced. Such a great combo with the rice and sauce. The food was okay. Gyro was crazy dry and thick, definitely gross. Pita Bistro up the road is much better. This place was in shambles a day or two after their opening, very obviously they were still under construction with tarps and ladders in the kitchen. A lady was asking for ice and a guy behind the counter was just wandering aimlessly while she waited- IDK what that was about. I've already told everyone I know far and wide this place really isn't worth your time or money. Not worth a second try. read more

Since I literally live within throwing distance of this place, I was bummed that it was just *ok.* Mediocre. Meh. I had given them a little bit of time before visiting since new places often have hiccups. First off, the setup is just weird. It's crowded and the configuration is totally illogical and everyone is in everyone else's way. Annoying, but I guess this is mostly about the food. I ordered a bowl with falafel. They informed me that I would have to wait because they make the falafel "fresh." Ok. My husband got a meat bowl, we paid, and then I waited. And waited. Finally, it was ready, and it was SUPER awkward to try to get the toppings and stuff because it basically seemed like I was having to cut back into line. Rushed, I picked a few things and got in and out as quickly as possible. The yellow rice was just ok, the vegetables were straight up out of a frozen bag of mixed vegetables, and the falafel was good (I'm not sure I've ever had a bad falafel. It was pretty much on par with every other falafel I've ever eaten). All in all I just found it to be an underwhelming and frustrating place to eat. Honestly, it's doubtful we'll be back even though we could literally walk there in two minutes. Yawn. I seriously don't understand the good reviews. Go down the street to Hummus Express. They do this concept right. read more

Seriously my to-go spot for lunch. I've yet to have a bad experience and the food is always amazing. The chicken is cooked as you order so you get it freshly grilled. I placed this review on Google Reviews but feel strongly about this place and thought to share it here on Yelp as well. Kalos is Fast, Fresh and Friendly! The Food is Fantastic! Overall wonderful experience. What a friendly place! Owner and staff. So cool that when you are alone and go into a place to have lunch that you can talk to someone and enjoy yourself. The owner sat down with me and we had a great conversation! I made a new friend. He brought me samples of the Filet Mignon and had me try the home made garlic sauce, which was great as well! Had to talk my husband and daughter into eating Mediterranean instead of burgers. But even they were raving about how delicious this food was. The gyros had so much flavor my husband didn't even want to give up one bite for me to try. But he finally caved. I had a delicious falafel plate. The saffron rice and hummus were perfect. The only thing I would change is the over abundance of vinaigrette on the Greek salad. But the veggies were crisp and the feta almost like a whipped feta. It was on point. I can firmly state that it is rare, especially on a Friday nightz to have a five star experience anywhere. I was driving in Tempe waiting for my girlfriend to get off work, was originally looking for Flame Broiler, and happened to see a new Middle Eastern place called Kalos. As soon as I stepped inside I could smell fresh pita and rice. I quickly became acquainted with Peter, who guided me to an amazing gyro that I will be back with my girlfriend tomorrow AGAIN for. The pita was hot and fresh, the meat was tender and moist, and all of the ingredients are super fresh as well. And the tzatziki was AMAZING, easily better than Pita Bisto and Niros Gyros. The first time I had their food was when a coworker brought in bowls. I work at a gym, so I was happy to eat something that was healthy compared to most food in the area. Today I decided to go over and check it out myself and was immediately greeted by the owner who was very friendly and informative. He gave me samples of all the meats and explained how they were cooked! This is a new spot and you can tell he is very passionate about getting it off the ground and hearing feedback! Sent my first officer to grab a Greek salad and he came back with a plate of food so large I couldn't eat it all in probably 2 sittings. Food was super fresh even at closing. What a gold mine! A hidden gem in between Jersey Mikes and Buffalo Spot. This place holds its own! I have something different each time i come in from gyros to tacos thats right tacos at a greek place and their bowls. They have filet mignon, grilled chicken, gyro, adobada. My mouth waters. I think this place is OK, both with respect to the food, service, and prices. I think the serving sizes are great for the "plates" but there are few things that could be improved. First, they use these very small takeout containers which are actually too small for the serving sizes they give. This makes for all the food running together. The rice I got was very wet and mushy, not dry and fluffy as it should be. I also did not especially care for the steamed gyros meat....I know they do that to keep it moist, but steaming changes the consistency and the taste somewhat. We also got the grilled chicken plate. I think they use chicken breast meat, which is nice, but the breast meat was not well trimmed. It had pieces of gristle and some bone chips in it. My wife hates this and would not eat her grilled chicken meal. Lastly, their fountain soda machine was out of 4 out of seven soda categories. Not many choices of what you could drink. Am I disgruntled? No, not really. I actually kinda like the place and food is OK. But just offering some observations and constructive criticism for improvement! read more

My mom and I came here right after we hiked, and this is our first time coming here! Super cute small place, the service was super fast. I ordered a gyro bowl and my mom ordered a chicken plate. The workers were very nice and gave us extra hummus without charge. We didn't have cash to tip and felt super bad but the worker didn't seem to mind, such a welcoming atmosphere. I love supporting small businesses during Covid and they have especially been suffering. Come here and get some good food! Super authentic and delicious. read more

Coworkers, and myself, ordered a pickup order for lunch today. We ordered pita sandwiches and a rice bowl. Once it was brought back to the office the sandwich had nothing inside of them but the meat. The Falafel was rock hard and tasted like rocks. I would not recommend this place. Absolutely horrible. You should eat at Pita Bistro instead. Excellent food, If you want to feel good and healthy after you eat your meal, this is the place that will give you that satisfaction. If you haven't been here, you're missing out on some of the best Mediterranean food around. Daily specials and FILET MIGNON that practically melts in your mouth. I personally love the rice bowl with gyro meat and let me tell you they don't skimp on the portions!! Then I load it up with veggies, tabouleh, hummus, tzatziki sauce. Stumbled on this place decided to give it a try and I'm glad I did. First off, super friendly staff the girl gave me a run down. I ordered a gyro it was delicious, very flavorful she was very generous with the meat and the sauce. I also ordered a side of Jalapeño Cilantro Hummus. This was my favorite. It had a kick that most other Jalapeño hummus's are missing. the portions here were great! Glad it's so close to me I am def going back! read more

Food was great, pricing was reasonable. I ordered the steak shawarma plate. The girl who took our order was nice as well. Definitely will be back. Only thing that fell a little short for me was the structure of the pita, but I don't see it as a reason for less than 5 stars as I tend to be a bit picky. Great job read more

My wife and I had dinner here on a night when we planned to eat at another restaurant in the same shopping plaza. We definitely were extremely happy with the entire experience!!! The owner James and his staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the food they serve. We had cilantro jalapeno hummus, stuffed grape leaves, tabouleh salad, a gyro, and a filet mignon rice bowl. Visiting Tempe, AZ and it was strongly recommend by our daughter to eat at Kalos Grill. We all had Rice Bowls (1 - falafal and 2 - lamb).
