Such a delicious poke bowl spot. I love that it has other things such as hibachi entrees and appetizers so if you do want something more than just a poke bowl, you have many options. I chose the 2-protein bowl and it was delicious. Lota of toppings to choose from and it all tasted super fresh. I love risk takers and I love Asian food. This means I was destined to like Kaizoku and overall, they were a decent experience. Located in a safe part of a lively area in Indian Trail, Kaizoku has some interesting food options for the adventurous type. Finally, they have a fairly broad menu which means there's a little something for everyone. Upon entering, the restaurant is very clean and inviting but somewhat devoid of Asian culture, which I enjoy as it gives character. That said the staff are very friendly and pretty fast to fill orders. Lets continue on to the star of the show, the food. I hated the egg rolls, they tasted frozen and generic. The Crab Rangoons were generic too, but a comforting generic so if you like them, I'd advise ordering them. The Hibachi... I'm somewhat tired of the stretch of the original meaning. Besides the text book definition, I grew up with knowing it's where a Japanese chef cooked in front of you on a flat top. It was more experience than anything but I swore it made the food taste better. So, when I ordered Hibachi for my kids I sampled it and it was horrible, again generic. My kids were on the fence about it, giving no real praise or critique. My main desire to visit was based on two things - I'd never had a Sushi Burrito before and after seeing it on TV I really wanted to try it and sushi as the selection in town is pretty bad. First up the Poke Bowl. I'll admit, Poke bowls aren't really my thing. For some reason, they just don't go together very well. My bowl has sushi rice, Tuna, carrots, green onion, avocado and sesame seeds with Ponzu sauce. I just think the textures don't meld well in my mouth. I know some people swear by them, but not me. Also, the Tuna wasn't the greatest quality and the Ponzu wasn't traditional. As for the Sushi Burrito, the hype on it is false as well. I got the Kaizoku Burrito and I found the amount of seaweed wrapping to overpower the whole experience. Besides the Tuna the rest of the ingredients were very fresh but I don't like how it comes together. So, I not holding the items combinations against Kaizoku but the ingredients. Finally please note their sushi roll selections are very limited. Overall, Kaioku is a generic experience with a sushi burrito thrown-in as an attempt to give the customers something unexpected. The food is average but for the overwhelming most part fresh. For the Poke bowl and Sushi burrito I don't want to sound as if that's bad, it's just not for me. I encourage anyone to try it for themselves. However stay away from the items I mentioned like Egg rolls, Hibachi and Tuna. read more

I have been to this place twice since moving to the Monroe area. My husband and I really love their food. This time we got the chicken hibachi and the shrimp hibachi. Previously, I got the salmon teriyaki which was great. All the flavors are amazing. My favorite are their carrots and of course we love their Yum Yum sauce. Unfortunately, this time we did not receive the Yum Yum sauce in our order so next time we will make sure to check before leaving. Quite disappointed in my experience at Kaizoku! My husband and I were driving in the area and craved some poke. We went to order online and they force you to tip 20% as well as an added convenience charge. Ordering online should not cost extra, it's actually helpful to the restaurant. So we waited to order at the restaurant because why pay extra when I have to pick it up anyways. We order our bowls and go to check out and I see "spicy mayo contain peanut butter"!!! Mhmmm what?!? Since when?? Spicy Mayo is typically Siraccha and mayonnaise. Not sure how or why peanut butter would be added. As someone with a SEVERE PEANUT ALLERGY I was floored by this. Also it was posted after making the item so I had to have them remake the item. This is just so risky with how common peanut allergies are! I mean I am very careful but never would have thought that I needed to be cautious of this sauce! Now I'll also put this accept side for a moment and talk about the quality of food. The ingredients that were offered were strange. Never seen broccoli or big baby carrots in a poke bowl. I felt like the quality wasn't as good as most of the poke I get and like I said I eat it once a week! I definitely wouldn't return and would strongly urge that they change they way they display this important information or for that matter change the sauce so it's safe! read more

This is the 5th new Poké place I've tried in charlotte and it's definitely in my top 3. The food was very fresh and very tasty. There are several options for those that don't do Poké. My daughter got sesame chicken and liked it a lot. Very good egg roll. There's lots of seating and several TVs. The sushi rice was good and easy to eat with chop sticks. I got Poké sauce and wasabi mayo both were very good. They were probably my favorites from any of the Charlotte Poké places. read more

The food taste and quality is easily 4.5 stars. However they do not use any standard measure. So --portion size varies significantly. When we order Poke bowls, sometimes they do like 1/2 of the spoon full for each protein or less. Like is it 6-7 pieces? What is the standard we can count on? It is not inexpensive. And therefore a treat for us. We are noticing the bowls less and less full each time. It would be more ok if it did not seem like server eyeballing it. It would not be difficult to get whatever sized scoop for serving. 2 scoops rice. Every time. Each protein one scoop each. Each vegetable one scoop. It is too random. Even with the teriyaki and hibachi- it is a significant inconsistency in amount per person per visit. read more

The fried rice is super bland and has no flavor. The sushi tasted old and was super fishy, and it didn't have fish in it... the kids nuggets and fries had so much oil in them. I do not recommend this place. We threw away 90% of our food. Save your money and go somewhere else. read more

I'm from out of town and yelped a place to get some sushi and it brought me here. They have a poke bar and a larger Japanese cuisine menu but a limited sushi menu (maybe 5 items). You order at the counter and they bring you your food. I asked if they could make a salmon avo roll and she said yes. All rolls are just under $10. I didn't have high expectations but when I tasted the sushi I was pleasantly surprised. The fried roll was fresh and lightly fried. Thin, crispy, and warm. The salmon was also good. My husband got the hibachi and I didn't try it but it looked ok. Hibachi is hard to do take out in my opinion so I'm judging my review on my food only. I can't wait to order this again. Awesome! We went here for the first time a week ago while our parents were visiting. It's more of a express Japanese restaurant as you order at the cashier, refill your own drinks, and then you get your food at the table. I got the taste the angel roll, spring rolls, and chicken teriyaki with fried rice. I really enjoyed the sushi roll as it was huge portion. I could have just had that as a meal. The chicken was well seasoned and the vegetables were good. I took off a star because the spring roll had a weird taste to it that I had never had before and did not like it. I would not order that again, also did not like the fried rice as it was kinda mushy. I ordered here again today through door dash Kaizoku roll and shumai. The roll was very delicious but the shumai tasted too watery I think it might have been over steamed. I will definitely come back again as I enjoyed the sushi from here but I will not order anything else. read more

Their poke bowls are some of the best I've had & if you like calamari try the Tako Yaki appetizer. They also serve teriyaki, hibachi & sushi rolls.
