I've been to Kaiser Tiger on a Saturday evening and a Sunday afternoon after a Blackhawks game--both times were so great, shots of Malört were had. I know. So, to start: the food. I've had the Bacon Grenades on both visits; gluttonous as they may have made me feel, man were those bacon-wrapped and fried meatballs tasty! The six of us, huddled around a small table, split a large order of the fresh-cut, Belgian-style fries. It came out on a large sheet and everyone got their fill. The order came with two sauce options, and we elected to go with the garlic aioli and chipotle mayo (the latter of which was my favorite). I also have had the Mac and cheese--after the aforementioned Bacon Grenades, the smaller sized dish was welcomed, but if you're planning to make a meal of it, I'd get another side to better fill you up. Onto everyone's favorite part (and I recognize how this makes me sound Ike an alcoholic, but it *is* a bar, folks): drinks. If you're there early enough or in the mood for a Bloody Mary, Kaiser Tiger's comes with a pony of beer. Ours was a Sierra Nevada. I'm a fan of Kaiser Tiger. While I have only been there once, I found the food to be tasty, the atmosphere to be conducive to socialization, and the service to be reliable. I also enjoyed the opportunity to partake in curling (while also drinking). Last night for a work company event and the bartenders were complete assholes to every person. No one was even being rude to them and super patient. Horrendous service. Servers and people walking around were fabulous, but the 2 guys inside the main area could've at least faked it a little. Even the security guy was so incredibly nice and fun. read more

Didn't get to try much of the food, but tried a few drinks and beers off the menu. We ordered the small fries, which ended up being a pretty sizeable portion for two people. The prices and drinks are pretty standard fare, but the real fun was in the non-edible arrangements. They have a beautiful patio out back with bocce ball and strung exposed lightbulbs, which makes for a really laid back ambience. They also have a ping pong table inside and a few board games. Found this place on a solo trip and planned a company outing here. Brought 17 people here on a Monday night. They had 4 tables and one server. First a group of our coworkers decided to play a game and went to bar and asked the bartender for beers for four of us. The manager got up from managing her laptop at the bar and said she would prefer us not order from the bar. The poor bartender was not busy and kinda looked at the laptop manager like wtf. ..I was granted permission to order our group a round and tipped at 50%.. Proceed back to table for our big appetizer order and we finished them and our entire table was empty of drinks and awaiting our servers arrival to order meals. We waited, waited. Waited for 30 minutes...no server..poor guy was waiting on the entire place and his powerful laptop manager was oblivious. I approached this pc manager and kindly asked if we could get our server a hand with taking our 17 tops order. She responded that she didn't feel anything was wrong with the service and kindly asked me to leave....what? Seriously? Ask for help with placing our order and u get asked to leave... Guess I'll never go there ever and if you would like to be treated like this..then I would say you shouldn't go either. read more

Most items on the menu were heavy or greasy. Not great for someone looking to eat healthy. I ordered the caesar salad with chicken, which was tasty, but the server forgot to include the chicken, so I had to wait extra for them to fix the error. We had a group of 9 people, and the food runners auctioned off everyone's food, shouting aggressively. I understand this place is more casual, but it's nice when food runners use seat numbers to know where to place the food so guests conversation doesn't have to get interrupted. The server was friendly, but towards the end of our meal she was nowhere to be found, and we waited a long time to get our bill closed out. The icing on the cake was that we had 5 separate couples, and the server wouldn't split the check according to what we ordered, saying she would only split the bill evenly, which isn't fair because we all spent different amounts. So we were left with no option but to have one person pay and settle up by Venmo. Every restaurant POS system has a simple method to split checks. The burden should not be on the guest. was there aug 23, i give this place one star....and here is why (on a to go order) everything is al carte, had a to go order, had to ask for ketchup, napkins, and the to go containers leave a lot to be desired food was average, the dinner i had with spatzel was average at best (fish), fish was not fresh, and the portions tiny they don't take amex i gave the host my visa to pay the bill (they take no cash), went to the bathroom while he figured out how to charge a chip card, and came back to find out he gave my friend my card and had her sign the receipt to which he added a 18% tip on a to go order....no service other than the host trying to rip me off....and the never to give my credit card to someone who is not me!! i don't care if it was my friend, what if it was someone else who i did not know, and really, it is my card, my bill, and that sure was not my signature on the original receipt...i had them redo it. this place has mediocre food at best, a nice outside, not the brightest people working for them, and surely have unorthodox and bad business practices... stay away, or if you do go here, be careful and check everything, they try to rip you off read more

I had brunch at Kaiser Tiger back in the winter since a group of us wanted to give curling a try. The brunch was really good and curling was a cool, different activity to do! Recently, a friend invited a group out to have drinks and chose this place. When I walked into the restaurant, it seemed kinda slow for a Friday night, but that all changed when I went out to the back patio. The back patio was super busy with people hanging around the bar and other groups sitting down at long tables, reminiscent of a beer garden. It was kind of hard to discern which tables were available for the taking. Some of them had reserved signs, but no one ever showed up to sit down at them. We just got our drinks at the bar since there didn't seem to be servers for tables out back. The back patio was great for sitting outside on a nice day; it had plenty of space and pretty lights strung about. We all had beer or simple mixed drinks, like vodka soda. Drinks were fine and there were table bussers that came around to clear empty glasses. No one in the group ordered food, and I didn't really see anyone with food out back so can't comment on the menu. Kaiser Tiger is more of 3.5 stars. It's a good spot to hit up with a group, but not as much fun for just a few friends meeting up. It's one of those places that I don't mind going to but will never think of on my own; someone else always suggests it. read more

I've never met a Bloody Mary I didn't like until I dined at Kaiser Tiger. Literally undrinkable. It was so over-saturated in spices that the texture was actually gritty. Don't get me wrong, I like spicy. I REALLY like spicy. This was just overkill. To no avail, I tried mixing in my beer-back to mellow it out. Three sips in, and my stomach was burning like the fiery pits of hell. My husband was much happier with his choice, a Gin Radler, which complemented the hot summer day nicely. So, I got a bad cocktail. Not a big deal. I still had high hopes for their food. We decided to order a few things to share, the giant pretzel and the smoked salmon board. The pretzel was fine, nothing spectacular. It was at least helpful in neutralizing the the spicy burn in my mouth from the aforementioned cocktail. The salmon board, to be frank, was repulsive. The salmon had been smoked into oblivion, leaving not a drop of moisture in the fish. The texture was absolutely awful. It was served with whipped cream cheese, a bunch of veggies, and toasted bread. The cream cheese was weird and sweet. (Yum, dry chalky fish paired with a saccharine spread. Blah!) While the food and drink left a lot to be desired, the service was good, atmosphere was cool, and the patio was nice. However, I wont be returning. Recently went to Chicago to see my son, and we ended up here for lunch. What a delightful surprise. The wait staff was very patient with someone that doesn't like most beers and found me an excellent choice. Our meal could not have been better. The chicken muchacho was real tasty. The jailbreak piggy, that was boar with cream cheese and deep fried thin onions was I believe the best sausage I have ever had. French fries came with sauces which you didn't need, because the fries were that good on there own. We will definitely return. read more

I came here on a Sunday evening around 5pm and was surprised to see it so empty, especially when it came closer to the Blackhawks game that night. I'm not mad about an empty bar, I love being able to speak to people without yelling. Our table ordered the whole bacon bomb - yeah, that thing that's 5 pounds of spicy beef and pork sausage stuffed with pepper bacon and wrapped in a brown sugar bacon weave cooked for hours on the smoker and served with fresh cut fries, buns, pepper jack cheese, onion, lettuce, tomato, and BBQ sauce. It said it fed 6-8 vikings. We had a table of six, and only got through HALF the bomb, but we demolished the tray of fries. The bomb was really good. It's basically just a big ass meatloaf. It was a little bit dry, but with 5 pounds of meat, I don't blame them for making sure it's fully cooked through. I love their Irish curry dipping sauce. I really couldn't stop eating the fries because of that! We didn't try any other dishes that night. Their beer menu is huge and I love that they have tasting sample sizes for their drafts. read more

Went here this past Saturday and oh my was it delicious! They took our temperatures once we arrived and then sat us down quickly. There was hand sanitizer available and the tables were spaced out far apart. Our server was great!! The beer was fantastic and the food was amazing. On Sunday 7/31/22 at Kaiser Tiger, we had a group of 12. When we asked our server - Shelby if we can order appetizers she responded saying something like "we needed to fucking say what we want" and ran away in a furious anger. Then she attacked one of our guest saying she was "too drunk" and completely ignored any of her requests. These actions completely changed the entire energy of our birthday table into a negative one. When we tried to speak to the manager he completely disregarded our input by accusing our guest she was too intoxicated when she really wasn't. Service was really slow and the food was sub par. This whole experience ruined our entire night. We will NEVER dine in here again. Kaiser Tiger not only provided the worst customer service but also ruined a great birthday night of laughter and joy. If you are ever in West Loop I highly recommend to go anywhere else than Kaiser Tiger. You will save yourself a trip. Now I understand why they are so empty on a weekend. read more

This place was just alright. The atmosphere is nice and the outside looks really cool. There is plenty of seating inside and outside. The wait-staff is really nice and attentive but not overbearing. There is also a great selection of beer. Lots of stuff to choose from. The beer was good, they even have a lot of fruity options. The food on the other hand was not great. The burgers are pretty big but oily and not super flavorful. The poutine wasn't bad, but had huge chunks of cheese which I was hoping would be a little more melted and covered in gravy. It was just chunks of cheese on my fries with a little gravy in some spots. All of the mentioned things tasted decent though. Recently attended a Wedding Reception on the second floor, nice large room, kind of a U shape which made it nice for staging the Wedding Party during introductions. Food which was served buffet style was very good. The French Fries were very interesting, nicely seasoned, served with two sauces. I was very fond of the lighter sauce. Not sure what sausage we had and I got the last one, although there was still plenty of chicken left. The sausage was wonderful including the bun it was served on, no wonder these disappeared first. The chicken was good too, especially a breast piece drowned in BBQ sauce. There was also what I believe were prunes wrapped in bacon, these were fantastic, sort of a dark maple taste. Probably not for everyone, but I did enjoy them. Did wonder around downstairs a little, some Hawks fans gathering prior to the game. Lots of space and room on the first level, including outdoor areas, great place for some fun. read more

We had a birthday party here - but I felt like we were not treated very well. I went out to reserve our curling spot. I soon found out that our waiter con the table into making them pay their 20% gratuity twice, and literally stating what it would be, after someone at the table already tipped and he told the bill was paid, but we can tip $57 for a 20% tip. The menu here isn't my my favorite, it's really meat centric if you're into that!I ordered the garlic hummus plate just as a snack which said it came with marinated cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, and pita. Well, sadly what came to the table was just a big scoop of extremely plain hummus(didn't even taste garlicky?) topped with a handful of chopped cucumbers(not marinated) and tomatoes. There was also a tomato stem inside! Perhaps I shouldn't have assumed, but I was thinking it would come with the veggies to dip. Anyways, it was a disappointment. Other than that, this place has a killer patio and some good deals on good draft brews. I'll definitely be back at some point, but my first round was just Ok. read more

A decent bar that thinks a little too much of itself. I've been here twice now. The positives are: * Good beer list * Lots of fun entertainment for both the summer and the winter (who doesn't love a little curling?) * Good location and nice environment The drawbacks * Not good at mixed drinks - had a fairly gross old fashioned, which was surprising for a hipster west loop joint * Too much drama - there is always too much of a hassle getting seated, where you can and can't sit, constantly trying to give your seats away if you are away from them for 3 minutes. * Too much pretense - everyone that works there makes sure to tell you all about how much better they are then all those low-lifes in Wriglyville and how they don't carry cheap liquors because they are too good for them. What a great place to meat! See what I did there? I love all of the food at Kaiser Tiger. The sausages are all delicious. Be warned, you get a LOT of fries when you order a large...go figure. My friend and I split a large and left a lot behind...I know, I know, bad form. The dips that come with the fries are what it's all about! They have a great outdoor seating area. I will caveat that one time we came here and our entire group wasn't with us yet and they were slightly weird about trying to accommodate our group but it all ended up working out. read more

Went on a Saturday night. It was crowded and the doorman told me that the kitchen was still open. I went to the bar to order food and drinks. The bartender told me that the kitchen was closed. I told the bartender that the doorman told me the kitchen was open two minutes ago. The bartender reluctantly took my food order and loudly exclaimed that I was the last food order of the night. My friend and I live nearby and wanted to get something for dinner, we walked in and were immediately hit with super loud music. Being a 20 something, I usually love music and don't mind noise but it felt like it was getting ready to be a club for the night, which I was not expecting. We were able to grab a seat outside where it was much nicer. The hostess told my friend, but not me, that we have to order inside so we went to sit down and I was immediately confused when my friend got up again to go order at the bar. I got a brat and she got the quesadilla. Both were pretty average and definitely filling/not overpriced but taste wise were really nothing to write home about. I feel like this space has so much potential with their patio and ability to make it more of a beer garden, thats just really not what I experienced. Went there on a Saturday night and it was a pleasant surprise. So firstly the beer list is very good better selections than some bars in the city. We had the poutine which was great. The southern gravy went perfectly with the French fries. The cheese curds also completed the poutine perfectly. We also went with the meat and cheese board and damn that was spectacular. The Argentinian chorizo was simply phenomenal. The jalapeño chicken sausage was also really good. The cheeses and the house made pickles were just totally awesome. I came here before seeing Michelle Obama on her "Becoming" book tour. They had a shuttle bus which takes you to and from the united center, which was great! My friend and I ordered bacon wrapped dates and i got the 3 bacon BLT. It was greasy, heavy, and filling to say the least! The flavor was just okay, and the food is over-priced due to their location. Made reservations for a party of 10 at Kaiser Tiger on a Friday morning for that evening no problem. We were seated promptly and had great service. The weather wasn't too cooperative so their patio, turned curling/bocce court in the winter/summer respectively, was closed that night. The space is very big and nice for groups, with a few different games/activities to choose from. They do not allow more than three credit cards per table with a big group, which is understandable. On to the food & drink -- there is a great selection of rotating drafts and our waitress seemed to know enough about them to be able to make some recommendations. We ordered two large fries for the table and paid a few bucks extra to sample all of the sauces. Two larges was more than enough for a table of 10. I was torn between The Bomb Sandwich and one of their sausages, but I opted for the sandwich. The meat was a little dry and there was a ton of it so I ended up eating it open-faced and asking for more sauce. I'd like to come back here for drinks when the weather is nice and the patio is open, but the food is nothing to write home about. If you're really hungry and don't necessarily care about bar games/beer menus, there are plenty of other stellar options along Randolph Street to choose from. read more

My friend got a stomachs ache from the sausage he ordered and the poutine had soggy fries with runny gravy and a couple of cold cheese curd lumps. The ambience was loud, but empty. This was my favorite beer bar in West loop. HOWEVER. I feel compelled to write this review because of the inappropriate customer service tonight. Several TVs were playing NFL preseason and my fiancé asked for one to be switched to the Cubs game. A bartender proceeded to refuse and say, "It's a Sox bar motherfucker" and double flipped us off. At first we were shocked and laughed, but he was... serious? How inappropriate is this to do to a customer. If this was us asking for a Cardinals game in Chicago or a Yankees game in Boston or something we'd get it... but Jesus dude. We had our rehearsal dinner in the Skyline Lounge which is upstairs from the main bar/restaurant. We worked with Alex who was very responsive and helpful. She made sure that we had everything we needed. We had a large group for our rehearsal dinner and they were able to accommodate all our guests. The food and drink packages are reasonably priced and everything was delicious. The space was perfect. We would highly recommend hosting any even at Kaiser Tiger. read more

We went to this place before the hawks game tonight and had a lot of fun. We took the free shuttle to the game where the driver told us he would pick us back up as soon as the game was over. Us, along with 20+ people were waiting for the shuttle for 30ish minutes. when I decided to call and ask where the shuttle was, The person who answered the phone was very rude and said they weren't doing any more shuttles for the evening...so I informed him I would tell the 20+ people waiting that they were done and he hung up on me. If you're going to run a free shuttle to and from the untied center your drivers should be more clear on when and how many times they will be picking up after the game. Very disappointed since this isn't the first time I've been to Kaiser tiger and this has never happened. read more
