Sausage and Sausage & Cheese Board and Asian salad
Rachel B.

Great spot if you're looking for somewhere more low key to hang out- it was easy to walk in on a Friday night and find a table. You order at the bar and then they bring the food and drinks to you. I liked the Asian crunch salad but they could have made the dressing with a little less soy sauce and maybe more rice vinegar ginger and garlic. It was a little too salty. The sausage and cheeseboard was good but there were only a few little slices of crunchy baguette so a few more would have been better for a good ratio of cheese to bread. The cider and pilsner beer we tried were really nice. I can't drink a lot of beer at once so having a 3, 10, and 16 oz option was awesome.

Stopped by to catch some NCAA games and enjoy some food, both were great! I tried the Kaiser burger and it came with fries. This spot has grown to be one of my favorites, and in the summer the patio is a cool spot to gather for drinks and some games as well. Not to mention the staff is great. Definitely a must try if you are in the area!

Bacon the cat!

We went here before a concert at the United Center. They have a complimentary shuttle to the center which was extremely convenient. We didn't make a reservation because we came from 3+ hours away and weren't sure with traffic when we would arrive. They thankfully had a spot open in their uncovered beer garden. Not to their fault, but it was very chilly out (we could see our breath). I asked a server to turn the heater that was right next to us on. He stated they were out of propane. I ordered the Kaiser smash burger. I like smash burgers because I'm very picky with how my burgers are cooked and if they're cooked all the way through. I also ordered it was no lettuce, tomato, and onions. Our food arrived in less than ten minutes. The smash burger was not smashed and was just two normal patties with lettuce, tomato, and onion on it. I bit into it and it was very pink on the inside and I was not able to eat the rest. We also had ordered Mac and cheese bites. Those were a 10/10! The staff was extremely friendly. They have a cat named Bacon which I thought was awesome.

The brat was amazing and was a great place to eat. I love the food I got. The service was great.

Veggie chili and Mushroom Garden Sandwich

Best thing about this place is that they have a shuttle to the united center. I didn't love the food, the drinks were odd. But the service was decent. We asked for a to go box and it never came, which wasn't the end of the world. It was very loud, def a sports bar but they do allow children. I got a turkey sandwich and French fries, not great, not too bad. My partner got veggie chili and a mushroom sandwich, he liked it. And it smelled good. They also have a large pretzel which was stale.

Crispy Mac & Cheese Bites

We saw that this place has bacon, sausage, and cheese and we decided that was the place for us. We went a few hours before a Lady Gaga show at the United Center and saw that they do free shuttle service to the United Center for concerts and Blackhawks and Bulls games. The shuttle service started at 6 p.m. and we weren't there long enough, but what a service for an establishment with craft beers to have. Even if you don't need the service it's very walkable to the United Center, btw. We started out on the back patio. Great atmosphere and very cozy. We did end up going inside to the bar due to mosquitoes always thinking I'm delicious. I got the Beer & Bacon sausage which was absolutely delicious. Huge chunks of bacon, house made beer mustard, and crisp red onions topping the sausage. I'm not usually a mustard fan but the beer cheese mustard was delicious and I love beer cheese. Definitely hid the mustard flavor, or at least neutralized it. The crispy red onions added the perfect amount of crunch, making each bite satisfying. My husband got the crispy mac and cheese bites, which comes with chili and beer cheese. The chili sort of reminded me of Cincinnati-style chili, which I'm not a fan of (sorry!) but the cheese bites with that delicious beer cheese really hit the spot. The bites were the perfect crisp level. We got the Kaiser Tiger/Dovetail Hefewizen which was easy to drink and amazing on a warm day after walking around. I then switched to the Kaiser Tiger/Dovetail Pils which was perfectly smooth and dry, again perfect on a toasty day. Now for my favorite part of the experience: DAN! When we arrived hardly anyone was there (they'd just opened and it was a Wednesday afternoon) and Dan was the bartender/server. He was so nice and answered my questions about the patio cat aptly named Bacon (cute!). When we went to the bar he was so nice and personable. We told him we were from the Nashville area and we talked about the cesspool that is Broadway, hockey, indie movie theaters in Tennessee and Chicago, and movies (he has great taste). He was so cool and it really heightened our experience at this already cool place. Definitely check Kaiser Tiger out and if Dan is there and has time, have a chat with him.

Love it for a summer casual lunch! Cute brewery near west loop for a quick lunch, got the cheeseburger and it was delicious! service was great and they had a pretty good selection of beers as well!

On a recent trip to Chicago, this place was recommended to us since we had tickets to the Chicago bulls game that night. Great environment. Food was good. Big portions for the cost. The outside patio was a surprise and so fun. The free shuttle to the game was a definite perk.

Kaiser Tiger was a very cute dinner spot!!! They had an awesome patio & overall had a classic brewery vibe. Service was great too. We started with the giant pretzel and a large plate of fries that came with 5 different sauces. My favorites were the beer cheese, garlic aioli and rosemary aioli. Highly recommend sharing both these with the table! For my main entree I got the quinoa salad and it was so good!!!! Very fresh and not a boring salad at all! Kaiser Tiger has a wide beer selection too. Great place for dinner and drinks -- especially if you want to be on a patio!!!

If you like bacon and sausage, this is the place for you. Nice pre-concert location, with a shuttle to United Center. Not a lot of gluten free options though.

It's a reasonably-priced busy dive bar in the heart of Chicago. I asked the bartender if she had a beer + shot deal and she said "no, but you can order a beer and shot." And so we did! Noise level is fairly high, thanks to a lively crowd plus a jukebox. They don't normally serve food but I think are fine with customers bringing in your own food, and you can also place an order from a nearby restaurant (I don't recall which one). And yes, it's cash only so bring some money if you don't want to pay ATM fees! 4 out of 5 Green Stars for social and environmental impact. I like bars that allow customers to bring (or order) their own food - it allows for all diets! The one thing I'd like to see is more beer on tap - even just one good rotating local beer (e.g., Goose Island). Draft beer has smaller environmental footprints compared to bottled or canned.

After a quick ID check at the door, the bouncer let us know it's cash only (thankfully we came prepared). From the moment we walked in, dim lighting, loud music, and shoulder-to-shoulder crowds gave the vibe of a full-on frat party, but not in a bad way. It's chaotic, energetic, and unapologetically no-frills. There's even a self-serve cooler with drink prices clearly listed underneath. I grabbed a Sapporo Premium, brought it to the counter, and our friendly bartender broke our change and offered a chilled glass to pour it into. Simple and efficient. That said, it was loud, so loud that even whispering-distance conversations were a struggle. The space is small, seating is limited, and since we couldn't snag a spot, we ended up leaving shortly after finishing our drinks. This feels like a better weekday hang than a packed weekend night. Still, if you're looking for a classic, gritty, no-frills dive experience, Rossi's delivers exactly that.

Honestly, the ambiance was a bit loud for us, but our server was extremely helpful and moved us away from a table with one incredibly boisterous fellow. For parking you definitely should use Spothero or ParkWhiz, as it's in a very busy/lively part of River North. We loved meeting the owner who was chatting with and checking on guests in the dining room. The menu was really creative and sounded amazing, totally up my alley, so was super excited to try Ila's out for the first time. Unfortunately, and it pains me to say this, but the food itself was a miss for me, and the prices felt steep for the portions. We ordered the empanada duo, grilled scallops, birria lamb pierogis, and sweet corn agnolotti, then the Japanese cheesecake and drip coffee. The positives were that everything tasted fresh, and the flavors of the dishes were good ~ especially the empanadas, scallops, and agnolotti. The main issue was the texture of some of the foods. Other than the empanada (which had a great texture and flavor), the agnolotti and pierogi dough were not right ~ thick, rubbery, and dry, which was exacerbated by not having enough consommé for the pierogis. And the coffee - it honestly tasted like Folgers (though I'll give them the benefit of the doubt) - which took me aback as it was a $7 drip coffee. I'm not discounting Ila's and I truly wish them success. But I think there's some work to be done in terms of execution.
