Some friends invited me here for a bit of drinking and mingling. I'm not a big drinker so it was a bit intimidating for me. How could I have never written a review for Kaiser Tiger? That is going to change right now! Simply put, Kaiser Tiger is the place to go for bacon. If you like bacon, this is the place for you. Their specialty is the bacon wrapped meatloaf. Now, this isn't your Grandma's meatloaf as this is a moist tasty loaf surrounded by bacon! You can get the giant 5 lb-er to share with your group or just get a sandwich version. Both are mostly the same as you get buns and fixins with your meatloaf. Obviously, if you have the people, the whole bomb is the better deal! I have come here a couple of times for birthdays and the bomb is always a hit! This place also makes some really good fresh fries with lots of different dipping sauces. My personal favorite is the curry ketchup, but there are tons of other options as well! Another "cool" thing about this place is the curling outside during the winter months. I do not know of another place that offers this unique activity. I would be re missed if I didn't mention the beers as well! Kaiser Tiger's beer menu is legendary and changes constantly. They have something for every palate and is the "go to place" for special and rare beers. As for the service, it is run by a bunch of hipster looking people (beards, tattoos, ironic t shirts, etc). While this kind of person is usually stand off-ish, I have always gotten very good service at Kaiser Tiger. They are willing to go through the menu and recommend some great eats and drinks. This is a place for serious food and beer. Kaiser Tiger works well for all kinds of occasions. Its a happening sports bar for the United Center, a hip date spot for a culinary adventure, and a prime party spot for meat fans! A welcome stop on Randolph at the edge of Union Park, Kaiser Tiger offers a good craft beer list, an outdoor patio of note, and the beginnings of what could be a good menu. Stopped in here before one of the recent U2 concerts at the UC, this place was busy early! Door staff is friendly, and found me at the bar once the rest of my party had shown up, to seat us quickly. I like the layout of Kaiser, it works! But even packed with old U2 fans, Kaiser is hitting record decibel levels between music and crowd noise, and that can be a hindrance to having a conversation with someone seated right across from you. Our server was on point! Service here is the tops. And so are the hops! Kaiser has a nice craft beer list, to go with their menu, and sausage program. (Yes, I think someone at Kaiser described it as their "sausage program"!). We shared (copied from their website): Free Range Bison- Topped with house-made chow-chow (root vegetable slaw) and cilantro mustard. Chicken Muchacho- Chicken jalapeño tequila sausage topped with queso fresco and cilantro mustard on a crusty roll. The Chicken Muchacho won this Lucha Libre match, as the Bison was just unremarkable. The Muchacho didn't win out by much, either. Hopefully they can improve their sausages with more balanced yet inventive offerings, like the Bangers at Aberdeen Tap. We shared a small side of Belgian Fries, and you can choose two dipping sauces from Irish Curry, Cajun Remoulade, Bleu Cheese Bacon Walnut, Curry Ketchup, Garlic Aioli, Chipotle Mayo or Honey Dijon. The Irish Curry and Curry Ketchup were good choices, but all look inventive. We checked out the patio, which looks phenomenal. It has a Bocce court, and music every Wednesday in the summer. I'm sure Kaiser will be packed for Pitchfork, and other festivals in Union Park; it's also not far from the United Center, and nice to have another option in the West Loop. read more

First time here....cold out and had the dog, so couldn't sit on their heated back patio (which also has a cute resident cat), but we sat in front on the sidewalk, but not in the way and it was great, except for the wind. Really.good beer selection and then my trout came with a generous helping of zucchini and spaetzle. The fish was nicely seasoned. The spaetzle was a little salty but I liked it! We also got a huge pretzel and my husband had the kielbasa. Very friendly, good service. Even brought our dog some water. It's a bit eclectic, a bit Old World. And they are handling COVID-19 right. I would come back for the sausage and beer, and to check out the patio. I made the mistake of ordering a cocktail since we had just come from Rhine Hall, which is also why we needed some food! So we popped in around 7ish on a Saturday night to find it was incredibly busy. There was a little confusion at first, but we were eventually seated at a table for four. The vibe surprised me a little bit, as I was expecting it to be more hipster than anything but it felt divey instead. Onto the food: I ordered the chicken muchacho, which I would definitely get again. And even though two of my friends are vegetarian, they managed to find the veggie sausage menu option and said it was delicious. Have always enjoyed my experiences at Kaiser Tiger, everyone's helpful and drinks/food are perfect for a relaxing day. Great beers on tap and the fries with ALL the sauces are my go to. Sausages and pretzel definitely worth getting if feeling hungrier. Most recently the lovely folk at Kaiser accommodated our large group at very last minute and provided great bar service for us. We really appreciated their flexibility and willingness to get us to sit altogether. Will keep going back and looking forward to enjoying many summer weekends on their patio! read more

Came here recently on an extremely cold night in Chicago. We didn't want to do the curling because it was around 5 degrees outside, so we played the board games indoors and had a lot of fun. There was also a ping pong table, and we enjoyed that as well. The soft pretzels were warm and delicious--but the highlight of the food was definitely the sausage and cheese spread. My only complaint is that the women's bathroom was rather dirty and teeny tiny for an establishment of this size, but I don't feel that warrants taking off a star. read more

Do not get the Bacon Grenades. Please don't get me wrong. I like this place. A lot. And I will be back. No one tell my cardiologist. But the Bacon Grenades are a miss. The thought of a pork meatball, wrapped in bacon, and then deep fried will sound intriguing, but it is not. The meatballs did have a little kick, but they were mostly bland. And the bacon did not cook. It was chewy and limp under the beer batter coating and basically just gross. The best thing was the house made BBQ sauce. There are a lot of great things about Kaiser Tiger. An excellent beer menu, really good burger and fries, and strangely a good humus platter. (I like cucumbers with my hummus). Outdoor curling is such a brilliant idea to get people to go out and embrace Chicago's brutal winter. It is essentially a large shuffleboard with stones. Not gonna lie, it was really cold out, but the adrenaline rush of throwing stones and cheering each other on between blue and red kept us warm. There was a good waitlist on a Friday night, but it tapered down after 10pm. Noise level inside was just a tad too loud, but probably ok on a normal night. Food - is a tad on the pricy side. I like the concept of bacon, but they are trying to be be too upscale with the use of small plates. Bacon wrapped dates - delicious, small, had to add an extra order for 7 people. Pretzel - firmer crust, more chew than soft. Bacon wrapped shrimp - not what I had in mind! Totally embarassing to share ONE shrimp at $14. Ridiculous. Mac and cheese - meh, a bit dry and comes in a small ramekin. Whole Bomb - it's giant premade meatloaf. Comes with buns, a plate of fries and toppings (cheese/lettuce/onion). Between 6 eaters, we barely finish half of it. Cold in the center. Server brings 2 BBQ sauce - 1)Sweet 2) Spicy - both are awesome. Thick slices of bacon envelopes this smokey, sweet bbq loaf. Love me some leftovers. Fries are not crispy at all, 3 dipping sauces are small and are just ok. Garlic aioli looked chunky. My favorite thing about KT are the impressive beers on tap. I love me a good variety of drafts, not just from small craft breweries but different styles too! This is enough for me to come here grab a brew and play some ping pong. I've passed this place a bunch over the years. First time going in was last night for a dear friends birthday. Went with a variation of Big Bad Baptist with cinnamon and coffee and some Chocolate notes. My friend ordered "The Bomb" I don't remember what the initial meat was but it was wrapped in bacon and the log kinda reminded me of meat loaf but better. It came with fries and 4 dipping sauces. We went to this bar to go curling. Arrived around 330 to put our name down- they said next appt was 440. We stayed and played one of their board games to kill time. The logo game. It was interesting! There are 3 curling lanes. The curling was fun. You only get to push the thingy on the ice, you don't get to do the broom brushing! Boo! They also don't give you any advice on what to do. So you just wing it. It's actually very difficult!! I did manage to get one bullseye tho. They also don't explain the scoring. And lastly, we paid $40 for one lane for 30 min and they started us late and ended us early, so we only really got 20 min. Rip off!! The ice was also very inconsistent throughout the lane, some areas look like they had already melted away. Overall good one time experience but I'm still bitter they cut us off by 10 min! read more

Came here after work on a Friday to meet up with a group of friends to grab some end of week drinks and had a great time! Located just about a block off the Ashland CTA Green Line, getting here from the Loop was not an issue. It was a beautiful day, and we were able to grab a large picnic table on the patio. Although they do not offer table service, it wasn't a huge deal to run up to the bar when we needed to order. They have an extensive beer list, so they've got something for everyone. Being that it's Oktoberfest season, I took a half liter of the Metropolitan Afterburner, it comes in the dimpled beer stein! It was delicious, and not heavy like other Oktoberfest beers can sometimes be. We ordered the giant pretzel and an order of fries, both came out hot, and did they trick. They came with a plethora of sauces, including a garlic aioli, spicy cheese dip, and an interesting curry/gravy sauce. All of them were very tasty. Beers and food were both evenly priced, so no complaints there. I had stopped by here this past weekend for a friend's going away party. I gotta say their outdoor patio area is an awesome spot for group hangouts / day drinking! Location: End of west loop and just across the street from Union Park. Southeast corner of Randolph and Ogden is where you'll find this spot. PROS: -Excellent outdoor area (First come, first serve. All ordering done from outside bar) -Pretty good canned beer selection from outside bar (also noticed they had quite a tap selection at the inside bar) -Plenty of games to play. Giant jenga, cornhole, and two bocce ball courts. -Plenty of picnic table seating CONS: -Don't really have any for ya. Maybe limited food selection? Coming from Germany recently, I would say their menu is very much Bavarian inspired. Sausages, pretzels, schnitzel, and plenty of porky/bacon options. Honestly, aside from the giant pretzel I basically had for myself, I could probably pass on the food here. But as I said previously, it's quite the spot to day drink and I really enjoyed the ambiance out on the patio. All in all it was a perfect spot for my friend's going away party. I love the beer garden in the back of this place. The food was very good. At first glance, it appears to be German fare, but many dishes are served with a twist, such as chorizo sausages and Bacon Grenades (spicy Beef and Pork Meatballs wrapped in Bacon, beer battered, deep fried). The beer selection is also worth mentioning. It's not huge, but offers a nice variety of craft beers. And a cat lives here and has full reign of the beer garden. read more

Really nice beer garden for outdoor seating. I normally never order a chicken sandwich off a menu but i did and I was happily surprised with it. It has spicy mayo, cheese and bacon and in my opinion, that's how a chicken sandwich should be made. Fries were great too. Definitely coming back. read more

This was the worst restaurant experience I have had in my entire life. We didn't really have a server. She thought someone else had the table, and would ask if we needed anything, then say she would send our server over, and no one would come. We had to go to the bar to get drinks and only got about half the food we ordered. I asked for a paper check so we could see what was on it, and it had about $200 worth of things we didn't order. The manager offered to get us a round of shots, as if that should make up for the terrible experience. The safest outdoor dining option in the West Loop. They have a massive patio, not just tables on the sidewalk or in the street. They also have a covering on top that can open and close (good for rain) and is equipped with ceiling fans and overhead heating lamps! My only complaint regarding COVID-19 safety is that some of the waiters were wearing bandanas/buffs as a mask, which stressed me out when they were talking to me. If you're going to have a rule that staff wears masks, please make sure they're actual masks :) Food: The fries were the best thing. Perfect texture, but very salty (it's good though lol). For two people, the small is more than enough. Low quality brat, which was disappointing considering it's a beer and sausage place. The bacon was good -- incredibly thick slab of pork covered in a good amount of pepper. I'd recommend Kaiser Tiger as a good West Loop spot during the pandemic. My first time at the palace and i get pushed by a member that works their. and no other workers say anything. On Saturday 3/19/22 I was in town visiting a friend and a group of use all decided to go to Kaiser Tiger and have a few drinks while I'm in town. On first appearance things seemed nice until i decided to order my 1st drink. As I'm standing at the bar a "Coworker" comes to the right of me and pushes me and states this is my seat. Me: I'm not trying to sit down. "Coworker": I work here. Me: That's fine that doesn't give you the rights to push me. "Coworker": Get over it do you want me to buy you a beer or something? Me: At this point i try and explain to him that its not a matter of him buying me a beer it just the simple fact you work here so you are a representation of this place so you shouldn't be pushing people. I decide that this conversation is not going anywhere so I decide to go back to my seat and enjoy my drink. A few moments later I'm ready for my 2nd drink and the "Coworker" that i had that conversation with is not sitting any more. So i feel this is a good time to let the bar tenders know about what happen. As I'm explaining the situations to the bar tender the "Coworker" starts walking up and instantly starts to try and defend himself about the situation and the bartender walks cowardly drops the drink off and walks away. Me and the "Coworker" share a few more words and i decided its best for me to set down once again. I will never go to this place again and neither should you. The fact that no one came over to see what was going on is ridiculous, other customers were asking what happen but no one that works there had anything to say. Pork schnitzel topped with house made pickles, pickled red onion and a fried egg on a pretzel bun with a side of curry ketchup for $13! huge sandwich, worth every bite, and I am so glad to have came to this place! The places is okay for groups. They can only split 2 checks, so if you are planning to come here as a group, make sure you have a way of paying. They also have an outside patio and they start cardining people after a certain time because this place does serve alcohol. Management wouldn't serve us at all because they said we were "too drunk" even though we walked in and got seated outside. Two of us got served huge beers when the of us went to the restrooms. No one severed us for 30+ minutes outside after that. Tried to go inside to order and was told my "management" that we were too drunk to serve. Absolutely outrageous. Phil the manager continued to assume we were intoxicated for having fun and would not serve us ". We literally came across the street for a drink out before a show. We stopped by last night with a party of five, and three of the five consider themselves serious carnivores. Two of them could barely finish their meals. My friend Luis (who LOVES bacon) said, "I can't believe I'm actually gonna say this, but there is too much bacon on my sandwich." Plus the sandwich fell apart in his hands. My date had the beer and bacon sausage, and couldn't eat the whole thing. Too greasy. After we got home he had to lay down because of a belly ache. That shouldn't happen! It was pleasant to sit outside, I'll admit. Also, my Rose' wine was tasty. However, it was one of the least diverse crowds I have ever seen in a Chicago restaurant. I'm pretty sure our party had the broadest "ethnic spectrum". Lots of douchey frat boy types and their sorority counterparts. Acting drunkenly obnoxious. At 7:00PM. Yuck. Our tattooed/ear plugged/skinny jeaned waiter seemed jaded and bored. Not cool when you are working for tips and servicing a party that dropped over $300. Of course we tipped well anyway, maybe the frat boys were causing him distress. The bartender lady was really nice and friendly, they had a large selection of drinks and a great back patio. I came in to eat though and this just wasn't it. My salad had wilted slimy lettuce, not fresh at all unfortunately. The bacon plater was literally slices of greasy breakfast bacon. I was disappointed because I imagined it would be thick slices of bacon that you'd cut and share. The fries were pretty good but that just wasn't enough to save it. Really mediocre food.
