A friend of mine recommended I try this place so was looking forward to trying it. I ordered my meal online, of vegetable curry puffs and vegetable pad thai. It came to about $22. It took about 25 minutes for the food to be done. When I arrived I parked nearby on the street. I walked in and the server asked if I was picking up. I told him my name and he handed me my food and I left. When I got in I dug in and the puffs were delicious. I loved the dipping sauce they had with it. The pad thai was good as well but it had a sweet taste to it. I am not a big fan of sweet pad thai but the vegetables were good. We ordered the veg spring rolls, the veg pad thai, and the veg pad kee mao. All of them were delicious and if you were to get 1 thing out of the 3, I would definitely recommend the spring rolls! They were perfectly flakey and had was well filled. I would say, they don't make the food that spicy (they ask for your spice level preference on a scale of 1-10) - I asked for a 7 and it wasn't too bad. For reference, I would usually ask for like a 5/6, so if you like spicy definitely ask for a 10 and probably some chili oil. Overall the food was good (3.5/5). The service was great! The food came out pretty quick and overall was a great experience. Never felt like I had to wait for anything which is nice. We came on a Wednesday night and didn't need a reservation. Looking for a new thai restaurant and we have to travel 30 mins from home to get here. But it's all worth it! We ordered the whole rotisserie chicken flavored to perfection with lemongrass and spices served with a side of sticky rice wrapped in banana leaves, two sticks of grilled pork and papaya salad. Our appetizer is the crispy calamari which I really recommend- it is one of the best calamari I've tasted ever! Another entree we had is the grilled salmon which is cooked to perfection served on top of sautéed vegetables. We also order the chicken basil fried rice- flavored really well. The shrimp pad thai is also great, the only thing hopefully next time they'll use sliced lime instead of lemon! As a dessert, we got the fried ice cream! This is the new restaurant by the same owners as Spice 2 up the street. I ha seven to Spice 2 and had a less than stellar experience but wanted to give this new place a try. I am glad I did! Most the menu is the same, but they added a specialty roasted chicken dish that is the star of the menu. You can order a half or whole and since there were only 2 of us we got a half and it comes with papaya salad, sticky rice and a side of your choice of beef, pork, or diced chicken. We went with the beef which was delicious! We also ordered the veggie massaman curry to complement the meal. It was also very good and flavorful. The pineapple gives it a sweetness and could have been spicier. I really like the decor of the new restaurant and the service was very good too. Our server gave us recommendations. Came in for lunch on Saturday and we were seated immediately. I really like the interior and the bright and fun colors definitely gives this place a lot of character. The food, however, kind of left me disappointed. We ordered the chicken pad thai, chicken pineapple fried rice, and the half order kai yang. Amazing experience! Highly recommend the duck which has a crispy layer of skin with tender meat. We also had the whole chicken which was shared among three people (more than enough). We stumbled upon this restaurant which is a few doors down from the Paint & Sip so we decided to give it a try. The place was packed. There was a 20 min wait and it appeared to be very snug seating inside. Despite the wait and very close seating, I had a very good experience. We explained to the waitress that our Paint & Sip was to start at 8:00pm. It was already 7:20 so we were concerned about making it next door on time. The waitress explained that it was busy and the kitchen was backed up but she would attempt to push our order through. We had a bottle of wine and the waitress brought out 2 glasses for us to enjoy. There were not a lot vegan options on the menu. We were told that anything with chicken could be customized into vegan by removing the meat. I'm a pescatarian so my choice of foods is selected much more loosely vs a vegan. Shiitake mushrooms were on the menu and we don't eat that but most of their meals were made with white button mushrooms we found out after inquiring and that was really appreciated. The food was brought out quickly allowing us to make our Paint & Sip on time. It was hot, seasoned to Thai perfection- just delicious! I definitely enjoyed my meal and the bill wasn't bad at all -$27 for 2 people. I most certainly recommend this place and can see myself coming back too. read more

For appetizers we had ordered the vegetable curry puffs which reminded me of a distinct indian dish. It was a good appetizer and the plum sauce was really good. For the main course we ordered the red curry with tofu and pad kee mow with vegetables. The curry was a little watery for my liking but the food was spicy, even though we ordered a medium spice level. Overall, I actually really liked the food. We had some questions the first time and our waitress happily answered all of them as well as made some recommendations for us. Service was quick and attentive. On to the food! For appetizers we've had the calamari, the Tom yum soup, and the vegetable curry puffs. The curry puffs were deff our favorite. Flakey crust, flavorful filling, and tasty dipping sauce! For entree we've had the kra-prow, pad kee mow, and the pineapple chicken. The Pad Kee Mow has been my favorite, but all are delicious. I really love the sweet spicy flavor of the dish!! The pineapple chicken is almost like a sesame chicken/general Tsos type sauce but way better! Portion sizes are pretty decent, if you get apps you'll probably be able to have some left overs! Called last week for delivery but since they we're so busy they were only doing pickup which wasn't a problem. The kids I was babysitting for each had Tom kha soup and one had veggie pad Thai and the other had chicken pad Thai. I had the chicken kee-mow noodles. We all really enjoyed our dishes. The kids said the soup had a very strong cocunut flavor which was a good thing. All of our noodles were seasoned and flavored really well. For the price I think you get good sized portion. I'm very disappointed to share that the food was terrible. I chose to order for takeout from this restaurant based on its 4.6-star rating, but I have no idea who considers this food good or even edible. I usually refrain from writing reviews unless the experience is this bad. We managed to eat some of it since we had no other option, but the rest is going in the trash. The only dish that might have been salvageable was the pad Thai noodles, without the overcooked soggy vegetables. The basil chicken was drowned in a brown gravy, and I couldn't tell if they were aiming for a Thai or Chinese flavor. It's difficult to describe the taste or the complete lack thereof. I honestly wish I had called them after trying the food and taken the food back and requested a refund. That would have been a first for me but it was so late. I would recommend to go to all SLA, KorKai, Sukhumvit or anything else. This is by far the worst restaurant I have eaten at in Montclair. Since I picked up the food, I can't comment on the service.
