The space is open and bright, but there are many neat nooks with different seating. Has a very industrial feel, but welcoming at the same time. The decor is eclectic. In one spot you'll find an out of place yet placed chandelier. Be sure to look around because the walls are painted with vibrant colors, uniques images on the wall, and mismatched furniture. Somehow the space works. It's inviting and memorable. After exploring the inside go check out their garden area. I was in awe by the large heavy antique iron door. I examined the door daydreaming of the stories it could tell. I found the barista to be quirky and fun. He has a lot of knowledge about coffee, suggested some other local coffee shops, and even gave us a brief rundown of the coffee scene and its history in San Antonio. Besides being easy going and laid back, the barista made a fantastic cortado in the most unique vessel I have ever drank a cortado from; a 4-ounce mini quilted Ball jar. What a brilliant and creative way to serve a cortado. It's a fool's proof way to ensure the a perfect milk to espresso ratio. I had a wonderful experience at Shotgun House Coffee Roasters; it will definitely go down as one of my most memorable interactions with a barista. Enjoying life one cortado at a time!

Oh, to be a resident living above a coffee shop. What a dream... Anyway, Thirty Grind was the next coffee shop to cross off my list to try and rate their cortado. In addition to that, I ordered an Italian Cake Latte (iced, at the barista's recommendation) and a coffee cake (heated up, also at the barista's recommendation). The cortado was not my favorite. It had a bit of a burnt taste to it and finishing it was a little bit of a struggle. The Italian Cake Latte's foam tasted literally like Italian Cake! The desiccated coconut was a little weird to suck up through my straw, though. But after I mixed the drink the flavors were very, very good. In hindsight, I probably should have ordered it hot. The coffee cake was sweet with a nice crispy crumble topping. The layer in the middle tasted luxurious, like straight up creamed sugar and butter with a hit of cinnamon. Incidentally, it paired well with the cortado and made it more palatable. Staff was incredibly friendly and warm. I arrived to the shop rather early and by the time I left the shop was beginning to fill up, so I'm happy to see this spot seems to have its regulars who like to park and work on their laptops and just meet up for a catch-up. I can see folks shopping in the area taking a break here to duck in for a quiet moment, and I can also see the folks living here dropping in on the regular. I got one of their featured drinks, the nightcap - a bourbon cold brew with cinnamon cold foam. It is very bold and strong but tasty. When I got home, I did add a splash of milk so maybe taste before you leave just in case. Service was prompt and professional. Location was quiet and several people were sitting and working. With their stamp card, every 10th coffee is free! They also have an app with rewards. It is so spacious and cozy here, and I adore the fact that it also doubles as a flower shop. There's ample seating to relax or catch up with friends over a cup of coffee, the big windows let in a bunch of sunlight, and the plants and beautiful flowers keep the air feeling fresh! I've been a big fan of their Honey Matcha Latte and while I want to branch out and try other drinks, this one is too perfect. It felt wrong to go to The Honey Bean and not try a drink featuring their honey, and I honestly don't think I want to use any other sweetener. No notes on the matcha, it's smooth, rich, and made excellently every time, but the honey just makes it even better. The floral notes seem to make the honey even sweeter and adds a lovely fragrance to the matcha without drowning out the matcha's natural flavor. It's the perfect drink to have while sitting amongst such pretty flowers. I haven't had many of their pastries, but I can say that their Bacon, Tomato, and Spinach Quiche is really tasty! While I'm sad that I didn't learn of this place sooner, I'm excited to return often to make up for lost time. I cannot recommend this café enough!
