Food is fresh and tasty, catering to those who enjoy South Asian (Indian-Pakistani) cuisine. Meat (chicken, lamb, beef, goat) served is halal. Barbecue is served fresh, not reheated. Curries, rice, vegetables, etc. are generally fresh given the trays are refilled often given the busyness. Naan bread is freshly baked in Tandoor (oven). Service is efficient but courtesy is often lacking. It is virtually a cafeteria style place where you carry your tray to tables. In that respect, service is limited to ordering, paying, and picking up food. Ambiance is fine for a semi-fast food place. It is clean, generally. A place to eat and not for romance. There were so many negatives I don't know where to start! The customer service for the personnel behind the counter was very rude. We arrived a little after 5 pm. When we got to the counter, they were out of half of the menu items. They asked us if we would like spicy, regular, or mild. I ordered spicy. There was no spice to the chicken karahi at all. When we order spicy, I usually have to drink lots of water because I cannot take spice. But my family loves spice, so we always order spicy. I could not even taste the spice that is how bland the food was. Not only that, the dish had no salt whatsoever. The white rice (we had to order this because they were out of biryani) was undercooked. The naan were as hard as a rock. For the salad, we got a few pieces of lettuce with a whole sliced onion. My family left there very hungry. And lastly, they ran out of chai and did not have any time frame of when they would be making any more. The time mismanagement was so obvious. Well I could go on and on regarding how good their food is and how good the kabob's are and that's exactly what everyone should do. It's very simple, the food is exceptional. This is the kind of small simple place turning up amazing food. I haven't had much Middle Eastern cuisine, but there's no denying this place is one of the best hidden gems in Montgomery County. I've come multiple times over the past several years and have had various dishes (several karahis and the lamb kabobs). For those unaware, a Karahi is essentially a stew that contains some protein along with a bunch of spices. The Lamb Karahi is by far my favorite, and the liquid sauce is the perfect dip for their naan bread. Be wary, if you can't handle very spicy, get the mild flavors, because the spicy here is HOT. The karahis are large enough to serve 2 people, although I have been guilty of finishing a whole one by myself. They pack a ton of flavor, and it's a taste profile unlike any I've ever experienced before. The lamb kabobs are also extremely delicious, although they take a while to cook. I highly recommend ordering the lamb kabobs ahead of time and getting them to go. Each dish will come with a fresh garden salad, which cuts through all of the savory fattiness of your entrée. I typically ignore the salad though and just order an extra naan, because that stuff is so good. I love how late this spot is open, even on weekdays. It's perfect when everywhere else is closed. There's tons of seats and tables available, although they get pretty packed during normal dinner hours. Price-wise, I think it's a tad bit overpriced, which is why I'm giving this place 4/5. For one person, I typically pay around $15, but hey, this isn't somewhere I would go to everyday (although if it were cheaper, I'd consider). Food: the flavoring in this food was absolutely delicious! My family and I ordered the goat and chicken Karahi, with naan bread, and a side salad. Both dishes came out steaming hot with a strong spicy smell. The goat was cooked perfectly and well seasoned, the meat pulled right off the bone. The chicken was also very tender and packed with spices and flavors. As for the spice level, I would say it varies depending on person. I didn't think it was too unbearable, but my boyfriend said it was pretty spicy. The naan came in huge pieces and smelled so good. The salad wasn't very elaborate, it was just chopped up lettuce, union, and tomato. However, the meal did come win a green, watery sauce that tasted delicious! I put it on the salad and some of my meat. I wanted to take the rest of the sauce with me that's how much I enjoyed it. Another gem I found at this restaurant was this mango drink called "Maaza." This juice was SO GOOD! It was a little thicker than your normal juice, but the drink tasted just like someone took a mango and put it in a blender. If you're craving good, authentic Pakistani food this place is IT. Service: the restaurant is fast food style in the aspect that you go up and order and then you go pick up your food. This restaurant prepares a wide variety of North Indian and Pakistani curries but there is one dish that I hold in the highest esteem... the karahi. Named after the dish KnK serves some of the best karahi and possibly the only you will find depending on how far your willing to travel. Essentially a pool of savory lava filled with potent spice aromas in a traditional sautéed pan that looks more like a small shield. Simmering and swimming inside this sauce is your choice of beef, lamb, chicken or brains. Having a plate of this to share among friends with rice, nan and some yogurt sauce is pretty hard to beat. I've also had their kabobs, which are pretty awesome too. This restaurant is pretty hectic though with large families and children running around. The decor is less than up to date and they could use a overall scrub down. Once you order at the counter, you will hear your name called and you pick up your food at the counter. The service ends there and your on your own to indulge in your catch. This is a hidden gem and if decor, ambiance and service deter you from experiencing karahi bliss then maybe it's not for you. I wouldn't take a first date here due to the noise, decor, cleanliness and the sight of me stuffing my face/eating with my hands.
