Super bummed out that I can't seem to find an indopak food in the DMV that tastes great! I was excited to drive around and try the tandoori chicken which was flavorful but undercooked chicken. Ground beef was even more and super spicy. Chennai had no flavor nor was there any salt packets available. I did like the naan. The accompanying chutney had separated completely from clear liquid and the chunk under it. Chai was decent. Alas, get me back to SF please!

One of my favorites. The food is always super flavorful and they have many options. Everything is made fresh but just note it does get busy and there's a wait for the food. Highly recommend!

Food is made fresh! I love it here. Staff is down to earth. The restaurant is always clean. You go to the front and place your order. They take your name so once it's ready they call you. You find your own seating. I probably go here everyday because it's so good.

Kabob N Karahi will always be one of my favorite restaurants I visit, you'll never go wrong with spicy chicken boneless Karahi with rice and chickpeas. The employees are awesome and I continue to visit weekly!

This place is a staple in the household with at minimum one visit per week. The food is tasty, aromatic, and just authentic Paki at its best. The chicken Karachi is among the best I've had. The nan is better to get there for dinning in to ensure this whole new level crispiness only possible fresh out of the salt oven.

Very good kabob place with great value. I got a kabob with Tika bone on chicken and seekha. The kebab comes rice and chickpeas and a salad. They also come tandoori bread. My friends got a special of a beef shank. It came with same sides The kabob was very good right balance of heat and seasoning. The seekha was nice and juicy and tender. Pairs perfectly with the bread that you get with the meal. The chicken comes out charred from the grill so you get an added flavor profile of that. You get 4 pieces of chicken a drum and 3 smaller pieces. Chicken was great it was juicy and tender. Hotter than the other pieces which I liked. Chickpeas and rice has sauce with it that is savory not spicy just great flavor. The beef shank was super tender it was served with gravy it was cooked in. Broke apart easily friends said was great. Service was nice and quick you give your order at the counter and then you get buzzer to tell you when its ready. Nice interior and its got a lot of tables and booths.

Came here for the first time for lunch on a weekend with a couple of friends. Hubby and I ordered their Karahi combo that came with 2 pieces of naan, some romaine lettuce, onions, and a couple pieces of lime with their cilantro chutney sauce. Ordered two bottles of water and balance was approximately a little under $40. What's hot - Quality. Pretty delicious. Everything was made shortly after we ordered, so our food was served hot. Their naan bread is warm and soft and is wonderful in pairing up with their dishes. Their curries are deliciously seasoned. Be prepared for their spice level not to match what you would like. My husband has a high tolerance for spicy foods and he ordered their spiciest level, which wasn't enough for him. - Menu. Something for everyone, including vegans. - Price. Pretty good value for money. For under $40 for a meal for 2, it was pretty good. - Location. Conveniently located in a plaza with other shops and restaurants. However, be prepared for traffic in this area. What's not - No soda/water fountain. They don't have a soda fountain, so you have to buy their drinks or bring your own. That also means once you've finished, you can't refill. I don't like that, because I brought my own water bottle and once we were finished, we couldn't fill up more water. Not cool, because it unnecessarily adds to the cost and is inconvenient. - Cleanliness. Our booth table was dirty when we arrived. I was the one who initially grabbed a few napkins to wipe off our table. The entire time we were there, which was probably over one hour, I saw their staff come out once to clean their tables. I'm not sure what their staffing situation is like, but they don't appear to be adequately staffed to handle a restaurant full of customers. - Parking. This plaza appears busy, so be mindful when parking in their parking lot. Many people don't appear to pay attention to other drivers and their surroundings. As a result, many people park awkwardly and/or it looks like accidents can easily happen in the parking lot, because they don't pay attention. Final Answer Would like to come back.

This is a classic place to get desi food. They've been around for a while and are an established part of the community. Offering halal food and really rich foods, this place is great! We got the goat karahi, choley and a chicken kabob which were really good. The karahi is always best to share with two people. Only complaint is that they should give more bread with the karahi. The restaurant has the old and new areas the new part is a little more classier where families tend to go sit at. The older is more hole in the wall feel with the sticky tables. Overall a great experience and great food!

I would have loved to show you the food but it was too good; I ate it all too fast. But you can see the onions I guess

Amazing experience, the BEST itis. Flavors were on point, savory, so filling, and spicy, but not too hot. Added bonus cashier was really sweet. The restaurant was very chill, not too busy service was fast, food came hot. I got the chat samosa and mango lassi. Both were impeccable. Honestly I've been wanting to try this place for a while. You will not regret going!!! Only comment is that the onions were cut a little big but honestly I don't even care it was too good to care

This restaurant offer traditional Pakistani and Indian style cuisine. The ordering is done at the cash register in the back. If getting takeaway one waits for their name/order to be called out near the register. If dining in a staff member brings the food on a tray to your table. Next to the register is a rotating buffet of curries and salads. The rest of the menu items are cooked upon ordering. We opted for the vegetarian items in the buffet scooped up by a person behind the counter. He also helped us identify them. I had the spicy chickpeas along with a serving of potatoes, cauliflower and peas. I opted for rice. My companion had the same vegetable options sans rice (with double portion of veggie curry instead). Both dinners came with raw onion salad, yogurt dressing and fresh tandoor oven bread. Everything was delicious. The basmati rice was fluffy. The bread was warm, with chewiness and some crisp. The chickpeas were spicy but not overwhelming. The vegetable curry was flavorful without being too salty. The restaurant also has a dispenser for water and complimentary cups (as well as utensils and napkins). Great new find!

I moved to Germantown. Is there anyplace on the west side of the county that is as awesome as Kabob n Karahi?

In terms of great tasting food, Minerva (at intersection of 355 and Shady Grove) is a fantastic restaurant. Highly recommend a weekend buffet.

My wife and I had been here for lunch before and had a good experience, so this time we figured why not check it out for dinner? Turns out, it was a great idea. The wait for the food was a bit on the longer end, but to be perfectly fair, we ordered a LOT, so we certainly didn't mind. By the time the food hit the table, we forgot about it almost entirely because the smells of freshly made kitfo, lamb tibs, and this stewed chicken dish whose name I can't remember (but it came with a hardboiled egg!) hit our nose, nothing else mattered. The food was presented in a way that somehow matched the overall vibe of the restaurant, which at this time of night was set to be kinda toned down with dingy lighting and smooth music. Huge call out to my waiter that I curse myself for not getting his name, because he is, simply put, the best server I've ever had at a restaurant. Not only was he timely and discreet about topping off our waters, but also checked in about soft drinks as well, and when he heard my son saying the food was too spicy for him, he took it upon himself to get him something else to eat that wasn't spicy at all, and without myself or my wife asking. If you're looking for a great place to eat with a killer atmosphere and even better service, you've found it.

It wasn't a platter type of night, but both Indian and Ethiopian cuisines have some great appetizers, so we stopped in after a movie. It was cool to see the breakdown of a vibey bar scene on one side and a sit down area on the other period both sides had the World Cup showing, so there was really no going wrong. The woman who greeted us led us to decide where we wanted to go. According to their hours, they are open until 1AM. We decided to get the stuffed naan basket, sambusas, and chicken momos -- A nice but fairly light spread for the evening. We or later told that they were finished with the naan basket... For an Indian restaurant more than 3 hours before they closed, that was surprising to me... I should have specified whether it was naan in general or just that basket, but still. The other two items came after 25 minutes or so. The sambusas were fried HARD, but had a great flavor. The momos were solid! We had a good time catching up, and they did great keeping water refilled (mostly). It took a while to close out -- they probably thought we were invested in the game and not in a hurry, but it's a weeknight and we were on Metro's time. I am curious about their proper Indian and Ethiopian entrees ... By the way, I saw a mouse right before we left... It was in the back on the dining room side past the tables.

We ordered 2 Kati Rolls (paneer and lamb kofta) from Krazi Kebob. We did Chappli Kabob, a Kabob Roll, and the Lamb Chop platter from The Kabob Joint. And we did the Thai tea and Chai tea from the boba shop. For the Kabob Joint: The Kabob roll was a real winner and the Chappli Kabob in the spicy green sauce was super. I wish the edges would have been a little crispier, but very good. We haven't had the Lamb Chop yet but there's a ton of food in their platters. For the Krazi Kabob, the paneer roll wasn't super spicy but was very tasty and I'd definitely get it again. The lamb was good too but I preferred the paneer. Highly recommend ordering in advance or with delivery; there isn't anywhere to sit and eat of course, and everything is made to order, so expect about a 20 minute wait if you walk in and order from the kiosk inside. Overall, great food and a cool business model for the area. In addition to the above, I'd probably get the Masala Fries next time and would consider the samosa chaat as a deconstructed samosa bowl.

Here's my first guess: This place is awesome and the people in the know don't want others knowing about it. This is the one that makes the most sense. My second guess: some people are totally clueless and don't understand that this is a place where your meal is an event and not just dinner. If you want to eat and run, go to McDonalds. This is the place where you come to eat, sip your chai, and enjoy the company of those around you. Food takes time to cook...figure it out people. Okay...about the food: WOW! So delicious and all perfectly cooked. I have to open with the one dish that was absolutely stunning: the lamb chops. The seasoning was spot on and flavorful while the cook point (which appears to be hard for many restaurants it seems) was flawless. Tender from end-to-end without a sign of chewiness. Next up on the menu hit parade was the Chapli Kebab. That little bit of char on the outside combined with the seasoned meat made this a repeat order for sure. Check the pics and you'll see what I'm talking about. The last but definitely not least on the list was the massive Namkeen Chicken Tikka. There was enough food on this order for three people and it was awesome! There was a smokiness to the meat that permeated beautifully and each piece was amazingly tender. We couldn't finish this one and it ended up in the to-go bag. Seriously, it huge. The service, decor, and general ambiance of Shinwari was so great too. The staff were totally professional and the families enjoying the props (which included a auto rickshaw) where fun to watch. I will be coming back here FOR SURE. Bring a close friend or five and enjoy an amazing evening.
