I happened to stumble into this area after work and I was surprised to see a Filipino restaurant so deep in Long Island, I love Filipino food so much that I wanted to check it out. It is so close to the Ronkonkoma train station so the commute was easy. When we walked in we were surprised to see how beautiful the interior of the restaurant was. The chairs and tables were white, and it looked super fancy. When we got the menus we were surprised to see that our favorite Filipino food was super affordable, we got the Chicharon Bulkalak (deep fried pig intestine), the Lechon Kawali (fried pork belly), Sisig Pork with Egg, and a large order of Garlic Fried Rice. Each item we got was super tasty and delicious and extremely affordable (everything came out to just $53 for 2 people and a LOT of leftover food to take home). The waiter was also attentive and gave us a lot of iced water whenever we ran low. I loved how crispy the Chicharon and Lechon were, and the flavors of the Sisig were also unbeatable. I really enjoyed the mixture of pork flavor in that dish and the onions and bell peppers to really compliment each flavor. The waiter was also nice enough to give me the wifi password when we asked for it. The garlic rice was also really good- soo i highly recommend the garlic rice!! Will definitely be back to try the sinigang

Ordered breakfast from here. We usually order from the asian best grocery store but decided to try this place. The food was good but my husband prefers the other place because their salsa has mango in it. Also he thinks the meat was a little dry from here. The restaurant is pretty big, clean and white. I think they hold a lot of parties here. We will definitely come back to try the other entrees.

We made sure that we swing by at this place after visiting the Tulip farm in Manorville . It's been in my list to check out. We came in during the middle of the day on a humpday. We were the only one in the place. Aesthetically pleading , full white color theme. Classy... until I see the colorful flag banners hanging by the ceiling. It must be a happy place during nighttime, assuming on weekends cause I see band set on one corner, and bar on the other corner. We placed our order and while waiting , we went to the small grocery spot they have in another corner and browse some favorite Filipino snacks and groceries. Price is a bit high comparable Queens location prices. Then we dined. Food is alright. I was craving for Lomi and was disappointed with my order. It was not what I imagined. Pleased with the service though. The wait staff here is so friendly. Our waitress good recommendations and great personality made our dining experience a pleasurable one. Hopefully to get the chance to come back soon, preferably during their peak time. Congratulations Kabayan owner/s for a beautiful addition to your chain. See you soon.

Take note: I went during their soft opening so things were a bit hectic and disorganized. The owner acknowledged that they need to work out the kinks before the grand opening. Forewarning: it took a long while for your order to be ready whether you decided to dine in or take out so you might want to order food then look at grocery store instead of standing around waiting. The chefs and servers were overwhelmed by the number of customer orders on this day so give them a chance to figure out their strategy. Some other items that they might want to take into consideration. 1) It was confusing for the cashier, who had to take care of the grocery store checkout and the payment for the diners. 2) There is no sign for the customers who wish to dine, order take out, or the grocery store so you stand there until you wander to the hot food counter then the grocery store. Came here since I didn't get a chance to visit their Woodside location. I noticed past reviews were for the food truck; this is for the storefront. March 16th was this store's soft opening with the grand opening in a few weeks. ----- Walked in: bright white little hallway with modern decorative light covers. At the end of the hallway, if you turn right, you saw the tables to dine in, and if you turn left, you saw pick up prepacked food, order take out. If you go a bit further in, there's a 2 aisle grocery stores ranging from frozen items to snacks, drinks to beauty products. The real nice thing was the items are the well known brands. The grocery store is lights but not as bright as the dining room. The aisle is narrow and can only fit 1 person. We walked in a little after 7PM. After purchasing drinks, we decided to order take out since it was getting late and the restaurant closes at 8PM. Ordered: Lumpia Shanghai: was not bad, not burnt though it could have been taken out a little earlier. Chicken BBQ Skewers: were well marinated and tender. Lechon Kawali: was mostly fatty which is not to my taste. The fried pork skin was great. Kare Kare: was good. Flan: was a bit stiff. Actually this item was left out after everything was packed up, the person packing the items only packed there cooked food and didn't look at the check. I tried to call the restaurant when I realized we were missing the flan but they were closed. Called the restaurant the next day, they apologized and asked me what time am I coming to pick up my missing item. Thank you for the apology and giving me the flan. Think I might try the food again after a few weeks though I do like the grocery store. Give it try and determine for yourself.

3.5 stars Noticed same decor as the one in Woodside, Queens which we haven't tried bec usually packed. Same owner. Has a grocery store when you turn left from the entrance. Food was good. Kare-kare had a lot of meat. I tried the kambing but was a bit chewy for me. Disappointed with the Halo-halo though - for the price, it was mostly ice with shredded flan and small amount of ice cream and toppings.

Food Truck in Portion Rd Parking Lot 9-13-20

Stopped by after leaving my brothers house. I was actually on my way to another spot down the road when I saw this food truck in a parking lot. I have been to the Kabayan Grill in East Meadow several times and was wondering if they were affiliated. I found out they were, so I immediately ordered my two favorites, the lumpia and the Kare Kare. I hope this food truck stays around for a long time. Because everything I had was delicious and tasted just as good as if I was at the East Meadow brick and mortar store. Plump porky lumpia and the Kare Kare was seasoned perfectly and the oxtails & tripe were very tender. It's nice having some Filipino choices branching out East. Well done Kabayan Grill! 9-13-20

Was looking for a place for authentic ethnic food and found this! We didn't have much experience with Philippinal food but we were willing to try everything. The menu was filled with various dishes! You surely will be able to order something you like! You may feel overwhelmed when you see the menu, but the server gave us some recommendations. The calamari was phenomenal!! They were big chucks of squid. If you're a seafood lover, you should order it! We also had garlic rice, deep fried pork belly and a grilled chicken tight (don't remember the names). They had very unique tastes and the dipping sauces were great! Pork belly wise, if you can't take fatty food, you may want to avoid it. We enjoyed it but I am quite sure not everyone will love it. They have a full bar and Philipnal San Miguel beer! I suggest you to eat it family-style (common in Asian food) so everyone can try a little bit of everything :)

Was recently introduced here by my friend and we went to go eat last night. Super clean and nice place. I love how they decorated. And there's a small grocery in the back where you can get your pinoy cravings (thank god). The food was delicious and everyone who works here is very accommodating and polite.

Finally have a good filipino restaurant nearby! Great food and friendly staff. Place is clean. So whenever I miss filipino cuisine this place will always my go to from now on. They have karaoke which is fun.

    Lechon

As a child living in a high rise condo in middle of Tokyo, I had a food fantasy of eating a whole roasted pig like the ones I've seen in classic Disney cartoons. 35+ years later, my dream has finally come true when I ordered a 30 pound Lechon from Kabayan grill for my father's retirement party. The Lechon stole the show! It was the most dramatic centerpiece of the party, and it was DAMN delicious. The meat was moist and full of flavor, and the skin was light and crispy. We were so impressed by it that we couldn't stop commenting on it. If anyone needs to throw a very impressive party, I'd definitely recommend ordering one. Your guests will talk about it for years.

So ordered the food via grubhub but it was never picked up but stated it was delivered. My dad went to the restaurant to reorder since the number of the restaurant doesn't even work. And when he got home I see this small container of kaldertetang kambing and that was $18.95! (comparing size of the tall sinigang nababoy). Tad bit ridiculous I say and it was bland. Hopefully next time it'll be a better experience.

To top it off, there was a young guy singing Frank Sinatra classics in the middle of the week, which gave the place such a fun and classy vibe. For appetizers, we tried the wonton nachos, which were absolutely delicious. The meatballs and mozzarella were good, though a bit heavier on the bread than I prefer. Dinner was outstanding across the board. We ordered the Chicken Caesar salad, hamburger, crab cakes, and the Rockefeller French dip, and every single dish was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The restaurant itself is trendy, with an amazing bar and great atmosphere. I highly recommend checking this place out -- we'll definitely be back!

The old back room had been transformed into an official party room with a separate bar and restroom and closed off with decorative barn doors. The bar area offers ample seating, with the dining area ( offering table service) behind the bar wall overlooking the main stage. Greeted warmly greeted when we first entered with only a five minute wait ( we had a reservation and I highly recommend making one). Again warmly welcomed by our server Nicole who provided an outstanding service throughout the evening. Nicole was friendly, engaging and offered excellent dinner and drink suggestions. Live music was on tap on this Friday evening which did make the dining room rather loud for holding table conversations but worth the live music being played that evening. The cocktail menu offers a good and varied selection of mixed drinks and wine and the mixed drinks are both flavorful and expertly presented. I would highly recommend both the Flappers Folly ( a refreshing floral mix) and the Espresso Martini drinks. Started off with the hot honey & bacon brussel sprout appetizers which were perfectly flavored with the honey and bacon bits over crispy brussel sprouts. All main dish items were very good. The Old Sport Burgers were juicy, flavorful and all cooked to perfection served with crispy string French fries. The French Dip Au Jus was well seasoned and not to dry with a flavorful au jus. I would highly recommend the Gatsby Grain dish bowel. Shredded chicken served over jasmine rice and vegetables was outstanding and served with a side salad. Restaurant manager Cathy was very visible in the dining room checking in with every table and asking for feedback which you don't see very often nowadays. Even got a personal tour of the new party room ( looking for a location for a future event). Overall good food reasonably priced , excellent service and nice decorum with live music offered on the weekends. A great place to grab a drink and listen to music while catching a great burger or the Gatsby Grain dish bowel . You won't be disappointed.

Seeing they had a Wednesday special, I decided to put off my adventure from Roslyn to Ronkonkoma from Monday to Wednesday. I also found a bunch of things I was interested in to pad my experience and make the drive worth it. The waitress came quickly, got our drink orders, took a few minutes, and we started our order. I started off by getting the Fire Island Fries, the Flanagan's Nachos minus Jalapenos and Chipotle Ranch, sub the chicken in, the Fish and Chips special with additional pay for French Onion Soup and Curry sauce, and my friend got the Penne Alla Vodka add chicken. I asked how the Mozzarella sticks were and she said they were very popular so I got those as well. We'll start with my addition. The mozzarella sticks are good. Fried properly, not raw, not burnt, you get I believe 9 in an order. I greatly enjoyed them, however I would never pay more than a buck for a small brick of cheese. They were great, but not that great. The nachos were very barebones, something getting them at full capacity wouldn't have done much for. The queso is gross, and put me off from eating too much. The avocado was a single, sliced avocado which is fine, but pretty hard to eat with chips. The chicken was a bit of an issue, not tasting great. The fire island fries were good, I enjoyed the flavor change, but I feel like some cheddar would have made them from "good" to "amazing". Adding cheddar to my leftovers later confirmed that. The french onion soup was the shiniest turd I've had the experience of eating. It is the best of the worst, in every way. The cheese tastes a bit off, the broth did't have much flavor or salt, the onions were sour, and overall it looks tremendous, proper quality, but tasted like I was eating expired progresso with some sour cheese melted over it. I love proper French Onion soup, but this was very difficult to force myself to eat. The penne alla vodka was fine, but they could have added more salt, it just felt a little bland. The chicken was hard and dry. It didn't work with the dish itself, it felt like eating two different things at once, neither of them tasting as good as they should. The fish and chips were the real star. The fish was as crunchy as you expect, the chips were proper chips. The curry was hot but delicious, everything was absolutely fantastic. If I was reviewing on the fish and chips alone, this place would absolutely get five dtars. But they need to work on the other areas of their menu, they're heavily dragging this place down. I also got the donut with ice cream, whipped cream, and chocolate sauce. A donut from dunkin would have been better in my opinion, and you would save $10 assembling everything yourself. Finally, the service. It was very here and there. At first, we were getting checked up on often, but at the end, there was a good 20 minute stint where they wouldn't show up at our table and we had to flag them over to get our check. I'm not rating this against them, but I would have liked a little more observation. It was a one and done place, with excellent fish and chips this side of the pond. If I was closer, this would be a Wednesday night thing, but I'm too far to justify that.
