I used to frequent Zul when they first opened up until early 2022 when the prices of everything nearly doubled, portions somewhat smaller, and the location was over a 30-minute drive. But I'm glad I came recently to order half a tray of grilled liempo. It was 45 minutes before closing, and they happily accommodated. It was $65 and worth it! Service is friendly as always.

CA Pinay visiting my bro bestie who just moved to Providence. After spending a day in NY and making our car ride back to RI, we saw this place was recommended on a few sites. This place did not disappoint our palate! The bangus sisig was flavorful, pork adobo was homey, and the ginataang sitaw and kalabasa was generous with crispy pork belly on top (unexpected!). Although the palabok can't beat Tito Joli's palabok, it still does the trick. 100/10 recommend these dishes. Zul's Cafe and Grill was absolutely worth the pit stop. The space felt just like visiting Tita's house. I loved the fork and spoon decor and decorative plates adorning the walls. Will be back even if hours away from our stay. I'm glad to know there's a spot on the East Coast that'll provide the feeling of home for someone from far far away. Salamat po!

Went here because someone told me it was going viral on tiktok. I don't understand why. While the service was friendly they were very slow. We ordered the short ribs. I'm cannot stress enough how terrible they were. First of all they were the tiniest, fattiest short ribs I'd ever seen. They were sliced about 1/4 inch thick so each piece had a dime size piece of the toughest meat you can imagine that I couldn't even get off the lil sliver of bone. So salty our tongues burned. I don't know when I've had such poorly executed food to be honest. The poncet had no flavor and was dry. The only thing that was any good were a package of rolls. The lumpia were okay but honestly my daughter has made better following a recipe. We drove an hour to try this place. What supreme waste of time. We won't be going back.

I almost missed the turn into the driveway as I've never been here. It an unsuspecting house that's been made into a restaurant. There's no better way than eating Filipino food family style! I couldn't resist going to the front and taking a photo. I'll do better next time. The entry is either from the front steps or the rear. The ordering counter was at the front of the house where they have bottled/canned beverages in a fridge plus other snack items around. I didn't expect them to carry bubble tea since that's not really a Filipino thing, though I can be mistaken. That's a plus though since who doesn't like bubble tea. The menu has a variety of selections that it was so hard to choose. I read "Inasal" on the menu and completely forgot about all the other dishes I wanted to try, such as sisig + fish and squid balls. I got the Lumpiang Shanghai. Don't let the number (12) fool you as these usually are minis and really are an appetizer. It comes with a sweet and sour sauce. What I love most about lumpia is you can always have it without the sauce and it would still taste great. I also got the Pancit Bihon, Inihaw na Longganisa because its easier to eat and a favorite for my kids. If dining in, they also have seating upstairs for groups of 4 or more. There are two rooms where you can sit where you like. I didn't want to worry about my kids staining the nice comfy chairs in the other room so we sat in Crisostomo Ibarra's Room where they had a Mancala set, also called Sungka in Philippines. I explained the rules and had to look up some of it to my daughter and friend. They played one round until the food was brought to us. The food was presented well with garnishes that will compliment each dish. Chicharron on top of the Bihon plus a lemon since Kalamasi isn't common. Tomato with Longganisa to neutralize any saltiness if any. Garlic for the Inasal, that was new for me, still scrumptious though! Everything came in to go boxes reducing cleanup. It is common to have left over with Filipino food so it's acceptable for me that it's in those kind of containers. The restaurant is more of a takeout style anyways. The only thing I wish from this visit is that there was more of an accessible napkin station upstairs. Since I had children I couldn't simply leave them to get napkins downstairs. Then when we all finished, we cleaned up as best as we could and ordered more food to go. We had a great chat with the family running the business and I must say, it felt very homey. I truly, can't wait to come again. Perhaps much sooner than later. Hanggang sa susunod! Great job Zul Cafe & Grill!

5/5 BBQ Pork I regret not ordering more to go, or trying the other skewers. I will be trying them all! 4/5 Lechon Kawali - on the dry side for me, but the sauce is delicious they need more sauce. I personally didn't like the milk fish but my husband rates it 5/5 and he will drive the 45 minutes one way to get it. 4.5/5 Halo Halo: actually legit with the beans and good flan/custard topping. Wish they gave more ube ice cream (real ube, not taro substitute like other places). 5/5 Ube Cake - omg this ube cake is TO DIE FOR. Ube flavor so good, the cake was so moist. The owner told us he's going to open up a bakery as a second location and I WANT IT IN NY!!! Maybe I can preorder a whole sheet for my birthday or just because.

This place has been on my list for some time now! The menu selection was large with so many options and specials. The food was prepared fresh and fast. Lots of dessert options to choose from, ube my fav! No seating downstairs but I assume the stairway to upstairs leading to seating which I did not look. Seems like more of a take out spot. I loved everything I ordered as shown in pics.

Beef short ribs with rice

Easy parking at the back of the store, good for take outs. There's only couple tables inside. Restaurant is clean leaving great impression especially polite and friendly employees. Definitely must try the BBQ Pork on sticks. It's kinda taste like Vietnamese pork chop. It's juicy you can order with or without rice. Fried fish ball is okay, not recommend. The fried pork egg rolls are perfect as appetizers, finger size very taste with the sweet sauce. Beef short ribs very tasty, couple pieces are hard to chew, maybe i will try the beef one next time, taste kinda like korean bbq beef. Fried snapper with rice comes with 3 types of sauces, very good. And i mean don't leave this place without getting the fried pork belly, melt in the mouth. We enjoyed everything and thanks the owner for the free bubble teas (taro is my favorite) it's not too sweet which is perfect. Decent dinner price, come support our local business and enjoy some great authentic Filipino food without driving to Queens.

Beef steak special

Zul Cafe and Grill is a family owned restaurant that serves delicious and fresh Filipino entrees. We ordered the beef steak special, the fish balls, the bbq chicken skewers, the bbq chicken thigh, and peach bubble tea. The bubble tea was made with artificial peach powder. We enjoyed all the food. However, we will not order the peach bubble tea again. The owner, Rob, is so nice and friendly. The owner's niece, who was working as a cashier, was very friendly and helpful in answering our questions about the different entrees. The restaurant has two tables to accommodate a maximum of 8-10 people. The parking lot behind the restaurant, located in a house on Main Avenue, has parking for about 8 cars.

Egg with vegetables and rice; no extra charge for the hair.

But…read moreif I do, it's because I was craving lumpia or other Filipino food from Kayumangi Authentic Filipino ("KAF"). KAF is a small Filipino Market, that serves a number of prepared Filipino foods cafeteria style, and they also have a kitchen for preparing some additional menu items. I hadn't visited since before the Pandemic, but I felt KAF's lumpia calling me this week. I arrived around 5:30 and I was the only customer at that time. The cafe part of the business is in the back. There are a few tables for dining in. The atmosphere is decent, but not a selling point since the Market's merchandise is in view. Service is a hybrid model. I've always ordered at the cash register. For food that's ready, they just plate it and bring it to you. If you order from the menu, they prepare it and bring it to you. However, it's not the type of place where they bring you a glass of water and occasionally refill it. It's more like you're eating at Chipotle, except they bring your food to you. I ordered lumpia and Menudo. If you haven't had lumpia, they look similar to fried spring rolls. KAF's are filled with what seems like a cooked pork and veggie mixture that is mostly meat. It's crispy and tasty. KAF's Menudo is a stew of pork chunks, liver, potatoes, carrots, peas, etc. It tastes like a dish you might get at a Filipino friend's house. The meat and veggies were tender and the sauce was mild and savory. When I score a place like Kayumangi, I don't compare it to sit down restaurants. I compare it to other small food markets that happen to serve food. Another thing in Kayumangi's favor is that I'm not aware of other Filipino options in the nearby areas. With those caveats, I give Kayumangi 4 Stars and I will return when the mood strikes me.

I don't know if that's true but I really like the food put out by the owner & her hubbylish. The Pork Sisig is good but different from what I'm used to. The flavor is there, just not the odds & ends if you know what I mean. I think it's just pork belly nothing from the head which is why I love it. But I'm a weirdo who loves innards & other bits & pieces in a world of non adventurous eaters. So it won't matter to anyone else. The flavor is delicious! But my favorite dish they make is the Beef or Chicken Pastel. It is so delicious! Tender pieces of chicken in a creamy sauce that also permeates the vegetables. Absolutely divine! Get it if they have it that day. You won't regret it. Have anything with the garlic rice. As a matter of fact, get garlic rice with the garlic rice. It's that good. And get the Pork with Eggplant. Ok get everything! I'm done! It's all delicious. 3-8-2026

It really feels like a home cooked meal made with care. While the prices aren't the cheapest, the quality and taste absolutely justify it. You can tell there's a lot of attention put into each dish. My personal favorite is the lechon kawali paired with their garlic rice. It is crispy, rich, and packed with flavor. The dining space itself is cute, cozy, and very clean, making it a perfect little date night spot. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, which adds to the overall experience. It isn't the fastest service, so I wouldn't recommend coming here if you're on a time crunch. It's a great place to sit down and relax, and really enjoy the food. One thing to keep in mind is that their hours can be a bit unusual, so it's definitely worth checking ahead before you go. Location-wise, it's also a great stop. It is just a short walk from the local brewery and the rail trail, making it an ideal place to grab a meal after a walk or before heading out for a couple of beers. Overall, a fantastic spot if you're looking for comforting, high quality Filipino food in a cozy setting.

But there are a few universal similarities with Latin food: rice, seafood (because I'm a pescatarian) and garlic- to name a few. Then there's their halo-halo dessert. So when Hapág Bistro popped up in my Yelp pages- in Highland, NY no less and conveniently close to work- I was in. Hapág is cozy the second you step in here. My eyes immediately went up to the ceiling where these folks have faux greenery+florals hanging across the space. It actually softens Hapág and adds a little "nature". I was here on a tight clock and didn't have time to sit down for a full meal. But while I looked at the menu at work, one thing immediately jumped at me: halo-halo. This thing is sweet. It's a sweet explosion of shaved ice, creamy ube goodness, jellies, fruit and leche flan tucked in like little treasures. Then comes the ice cream on top tying the whole shit together. Every spoonful is cold, creamy and sugary in the best way. Shoutout to my girl Danielle, who was super pleasant and had one of those smiles that totally makes the place feel even more welcoming. Next time I'll actually stay long enough to eat real food- but for a quick pop-in, Hapág came out on top with dessert alone.
