I use certain dishes to judge specific restaurants. For Thai places, that's Pad Thai. Now I've had plenty of Pad Thai over the years and I've even made my own. This was not Pad Thai. Normally, the lemon is on the side along with the nuts just scattered across the top. As soon as I tasted it, I realized that they had squeezed the lemon into the dish and I also realized why. They were trying to offset the abysmally sweet taste. Pad Thai usually is a little bit sweet, but this tasted like they had poured honey into it. It was clear that they hadn't added any broth to the dish. In addition, the noodles clumped together because they used the wrong noodle. Pad Thai noodles are typically a flat rice noodle. I had a craving for pad Thai one morning, so I treated myself for lunch. I ordered online (cool that you can pay right online with Venmo) and it was ready when I went to pick it up. The gentleman that helped me was very kind and had a nice smile! Since it was lunch pricing, I decided to add a curry puff app to my order. It said it was a pastry puff stuffed with chicken, potato & veggies which sounded interesting so I got it. It was good, and came with a tangy clear dip. For whatever reason I was expecting it to be like the consistency of chicken pot pie, but that was not the case and was much more dry. It was amazing dipped in the tom yum soup that came with my lunch special. The soup was so flavorful! I definitely will order that soup next time I get sick. It seems like it will definitely hit the spot. As for the chicken pad Thai, it was okay. The sauce was flavorful and not too much chicken but it was good. I ordered extra peanut sauce since places are usually skimpy with it, but I did not need it (saved it for later) since the noodles were coated with sauce nicely. Downside was that there wasn't cilantro on the pad Thai. All in all, I think I'd order from here again. It's located in a strip mall, so parking was easy. read more

Nice and quiet ambiance, attentive and friendly service as always and good Thai food. Menu is updated and reflects increased in prices, understandably. Just a lot more compared to other Thai restaurants in Danbury and another one in Norwalk. And there's some new dishes on the menu. This time I tried the Hiananese chicken. Steamed chicken breast with ginger sauce on the side served with hiananese rice and cucumber slices. Was somewhat disappointed when I saw my plate, didn't look appetizing at all. See photo. So for this dish, the chicken had no flavor and meat was dry. However, the sauce is delicious with a spicy kick and complimented the dry meat well. Serving is a little small compared to their other dishes and IMO does not warrant the $17.95 price tag. It is good, not great and honestly will not order it again. Hiananese chicken I've had in the past was served bone-in, chicken thighs with skin-- thus the meat is juicy and more flavorful. read more

Boom Thai is easy to miss if you are unfamiliar with the area. However, I'm so glad I found it because I was craving some taro tea. Customer service was super friendly and prompt and the establishment was really clean. I was here for lunch and there was a ton of parking. The taro tea was super delicious and made the way I ordered it, with half the sweetener. If you enjoy any bubble teas, this is a great place to get some. The Tom kha soup was too sweet and the crab Rangoon were a bit on the overcooked side. I highly recommend for bubble teas! read more

We had lunch at Boom Thai for the first time. The restaurant is small but pleasant and clean. The server was super friendly and attentive! Foodwise we started with crab rangoons and coconut shrimp. Great service. The food was fresh and came out quickly. The shrimp summer rolls tasted freshly made, with great peanut sauce. The summer rolls were on the larger side which I appreciate. The Tom Yum soup came with the Drunken Noodle lunch plate. The soup was very tasty!!! I would definitely enjoy just the soup as a meal now that I have tried it. Drunken noodles were perfect and spicy. The spice was a perfect amount for me as I love spicy food. It was great and I'm surprised I didn't add a drop of extra chili, as I usually do. This place USED to be awesome, but the last few times I've ordered from here it's not been so good. Tonight is was downright awful. The green chicken curry was watery and tasteless.it was like a broth based soup consistency. Highly disappointing. A previous time I got the same thing the sauce was curdled. The shrimp pad Thai had 6 small shrimp. The noodles were formed into one big blob. It just sucked. I would've been ok with a mediocre dinner, but this was literally inedible. Additionally, it must have been loaded with MSG bc my husband instantly got a headache and I thought I was having a heart attack. Yum yum yum! The portions for dinner were huge and delicious! The menu has something for any Thai food lover. The veggies were super fresh. I had the sweet and sour chicken and couldn't finish it all. (Not a problem as my husband made room to finish my dish) He had the Crispy duck salad, which was cooked to perfection. Having recently moved to Norwalk, we have tried several of the local Thai places and so far Boom Thai has become a favorite. We dined in on our first visit and as other reviews noted, the table service is not the most attentive, simply because the volume of takeout they do is a distraction for the wait staff. Subsequently, we just order takeout too. Food quality is consistently high. And the staff is welcoming and friendly. We like things spicy and don't have to say "Extra, Extra Hot." Just "Spicy" is hot enough here. So if you don't want it hot, definitely say so. Prices seem a little on the high side to me, but portions are fairly large. Well, what I was served had so much chili powder in it I almost choked to death after one bite. They remade the dish and the second attempt was better - but still way too spicy. I regularly order this dish at a variety of other Thai places and have never encountered this level of spice. Beware if you can't take the heat --- they don't call this place BOOM ! for nothing ... lololo If I come by here again, I will try a different dish because the quality of the food looks good... spice level is the real issue. read more
