    37. Chicken Tikka Masala
    TingJia L.

We've been on an Indian food binge recently and this is up there. We were very surprised as it is right in our neighborhood too! We got the chicken masala (always can tell if a restaurant is good by this dish)- which was delicious and moist! Also got the Mutter Paneer with almonds and peas. This was so great! We also had meat samosas to start- very interesting flavorful meat with a crisp and light pastry. We also got the Kabob Stop platter with an assortment of meats including chicken and beef. It was all delicious but a standout was the chicken. This place knows how to grill chicken. FIVE STARS. Will certainly reorder!

Malai Kofta, vegetarian. Great soft croquettes and ratio with flavorful sauce, instead of three jawbreaker-size balls in a sea of sauce.

Very glad I found this place! Excellent lamb curry and the malai kofta was delicious. I liked that the vegetable-cheese dumplings were more in a log shape than round, easy to break up with a fork and fit a nice bite along with sauce, and it was all flavorful. The rice was top notch too! Rice is usually an afterthought to me, but this rice had actual taste by itself and I think fennel and was perfect texture to carry sauce. The naan seemed very authentic but was a little too flaky with a smokey flavor for me, but the onion kulcha was great. I'll definitely be returning, I've heard good things about spiced chicken.

Chicken Tikka was amazing. Full of flavor and a good amount of heat. Chicken kati roll also great. Really friendly service.

My…read moreexpectations were high, because I'd heard great things about Peerce's - I've seen it on Baltimore Magazine's Best Restaurants in Baltimore list several times. But it didn't live up to those high expectations. The restaurant is stunning. Before the two brothers behind Ananda and the Ambassador Dining Room opened this Indian restaurant in the space in 2019, various restaurants and businesses had been in the space for more than 80 years. The team at Peerce's has done an amazing job renovating the space and making it truly stunning. There's dark wood paneling, mural or wallpapered walls, stained glass, fireplaces, and a gorgeous patio (although too cold on the evening we visited in January to enjoy). The service was also great - very friendly and helpful. The menu is varied. They serve North Indian/Punjabi dishes, with lots of seafood specialties. We ordered a few things to share: Fish curry (wild-caught black cod in spicy coconut curry sauce), Malai Kofta (vegetable croquettes and spiced cream sauce), Palak Paneer (organic creamed spinach and homemade paneer), Bhindi Pyaaz (okra, onions, and traditional spices), and classic naan. I thought the food was in general. The okra, palak paneer, and naan were also classic but didn't stand out as anything terribly special. The fish curry was fine as well but I found the portion size very small for the price ($37). The malai kofta is where they really lost me. I've had malai kofta lots of times (I was a vegetarian/vegan for around 10 years, and it was one of my favorite dishes to order during those years - and I still love it today as a very failed vegetarian), and this version really confused me. The menu led me to expect the traditional creamy sauce, but Peerce's version looked and tasted like tomato paste. It was overly sweet and tasted quite concentrated, underseasoned, and bland. It was a bright red and fell very flat. I wouldn't say that any of the dishes blew me away, but the malai kofta was a disappointment. We did order a couple of glasses of wine (they offer a few Indian wines which we were keen to try and enjoyed), and the service and ambiance were topnotch. Unfortunately - for me - the food was just underwhelming. Since it's a bit of a hike for those of us that live in Baltimore City, I don't expect to make the trip to eat at Peerce's again any time soon sadly.

We got the Kale Chaat, amazing, still talking about it. Crispy kale, yogurt w/ mint, sweet and savory and crispy. Omg, you gotta get it, I want it again already! For dinner I got the chicken dumplings (momo) and my husband got the tandoori chicken. It was actually too much food! The momo was delish but the tandoori chicken was the star entree for sure. It came with a side of masala sauce which was so tasty to dip in. Everything was actually pretty reasonably priced as well. My only complaint is that it was freezing inside - lots of guests wore their coats! They had a ton of to go orders ready - I'd definitely do that in the future, but it is nice inside! One of my new favorite spots for sure, I'll be back.

It had vodka, Prosecco, mango, and passionfruit puree. It had a nice balance of sweetness and tartness, though it was not particularly sparkling from the Prosecco. The paneer chili ($9) was decent but not quite what I expected. The paneer was tossed with garlic, tomato based sauce, peppers, and onions, but it was softer and less crispy than I was hoping for. The veg jhol momo ($18) was interesting.... The menu mentions a Szechuan pepper based soup, but I did not get any Szechuan pepper flavor at all. Instead, the broth had a creamy, almost tahini-like taste. The momos themselves were fine, but the broth was not what I was expecting. The mixed veg jalfrezi ($16) was okay. It had a good amount of mixed vegetables in a tomato based sauce with green chilies, ginger, and onions. We ordered it very spicy but it came out sweeter than I preferred. The Goan fish curry ($19) was excellent. The tilapia was tender and the tomato coconut curry was flavorful, rich, and comforting. It had a nice balance of spice and creaminess. The garlic naan ($4) was soft, fluffy, and had a good amount of garlic and herbs. The beers were good too. The Taj Mahal lager was light and easy to drink, while the Haywards 5000 had a stronger, maltier flavor. Overall, service was good. Our server, Aro, was attentive. They have an outdoor seating area. Ambiance was upscale without the prices. They are located by a parking garage but there is also street parking available as well.

I had never tried Kumari in the past so I was excited to say something new and then learned upon sitting down that they offer buffet lunches on the weekends for about $18 all in. The service was really spectacular considering, and the tea was really delightful. Mango Lassi was too sweet. The space is quite large and they have seating on both sides of the restaurant. This is a no-frills restaurant and sometimes you have to grab silverware and napkins yourself but with two people working there and a restaurant full of people I thought the service was great. Came back for a weekend to show my husband around and thought it would be a good idea to check this place out again after so many years. Still giving it 3 stars for all the good memories associated with it.
