I took three boys here to celebrate my son's birthday. The racing was OK and they had fun, but it's super overpriced and the guys running the race didn't even explain how to use the car well so the first two races weren't very fun until the boys figured out the breaking system. Then they tried to play games and some of the boys won the games, but the games just glitched and didn't give them any prizes. I took a video and even after looking at the video, the store manager wouldn't give him a prize! This is totally unacceptable customer service! I recommend everyone not support them. read more

Absolute nightmare. We waited over and hour and a half for our race while people funneled in way after us and raced right away(literally waited 15 min). On top of that we ordered 2 pretzels with cheese and waited 30 min and received no cheese. Management did absolutely nothing for us. The staff was super kind and patient. It was my first time with my grandson and it took me awhile to register and get my instructions.

What didn't go wrong. Rude and untrained staff who ignore you. They rush you through racing with no breaks in between to enjoy their gross pizza and undercooked wings. Speaking of food, nobody knows how to take your order but when they figure it out, it takes 3 hours to get your food. The go carts broke down every race which was an awesome way to destroy momentum. We have been thinking about having a birthday party here for our oldest so we decided to try it out for the first time. We checked in and decided to order some snacks while we waited. Some of the staff seemed bothered or not interested in answering questions. The snacks, for how empty it was, took a long time. And as we got the snacks we noticed they were stale, cold, extremely hard in some cases. The fries were undercooked, cold, and stale. All the way around very disappointed, I have a hard time wanting to do the party here. I have been to other similar places and Saturday nights are packed, this place is empty. read more

We came here for my birthday (as a walk-in, Wednesday night). There was another big group for some kid's birthday party. We had a lot of fun, raced three times. We didn't wait that long between races, as we were one of three groups, so it rotated pretty quickly. Everyone had their masks on (even though we were allowed to use the headsock as a mask). Only downside was that since we were just a walk-in we raced with a regular (i think) so none of us actually got to finish the 12 laps as he always beat us to it. We all had a fun time. In our case a young woman had her cell phone out as she video taped herself going about 5mph. She nearly caused a crash but wasn't removed from the track. Nor were we given a replacement race. I'm mixed about their policy no sharing of discounted bundles, even with my own children. The price per ride is around $20, and the ride lasts like 4 minutes. It's a fun splurge. read more

The absolute worst place to go in Utah. Manager on duty has a power problem. Me and my son came in today to ride the karts the today. They have a wall that says must be 58 inches to ride. My son stood next to it and was not tall enough. So he has been on the Junior karts many times. However K1 rules say must be 58 inches so we drove home. On the way home my son said dad I am over 58 inches get a Tape measure. So when we got home sure enough he was right NO SHOES NO HAT FLAT HAIR he was over 58 inches tall. We drove all the back to K1. I asked to talk to the manger. I said can I show you something on your wall. The first thing out of his mouth was I don't have to go by that wall. So I said you understand your wall is off by 2 inches. He laughed and made a joke of it. I took a picture of my son next to the wall with NO shoes on. And as you can see in the picture the wall is off by 2 inches. I was a general manager of a company for years tell I retired. The way this manager handled himself was absolutely crazy. I understand good help is hard to find these days. But K1 is never busy has about 3 cars in the parking lot every day but Friday and Saturday. If your manager thinks he is to good for business that is a shame. Rules are put up for a reason you can't just change them and make your own. When I asked to talk to a Manager he said I am the manager. He should absolutely not have a job if he does not understand how to handle a problem with guests. So much for family fun I would give K1 a ZERO for how poorly they have trained employees. If you have a son or a daughter and you go in to K1 and they are like my son so excited to race because they are tall enough. MAKE SURE YOU UNDERSTAND THE WALL IS OFF BY TWO INCHES. Your experience really depends on your tendency/reaction to road rage and it's associated frustration/anger. Your standing in the race is dependent on your time to complete a lap. So, when you are racing in a group with a short lap time then you will do well. But if there's some real slow people then you will do poorly as you will be stuck behind them. I just went one other person and we raced with other groups. My first experience was fun. But with my second race, there were several girls that were scared to race so 8/12 laps were ruined by racers who were blocking the track. I fumed a little and had to remind myself I was bigger than road rage anger, ha ha... Therefore, if you want to guaranteed best race experience go with a group of people you know race well. read more

Luckily it wasn't packed when we arrived because they only do reservations when you have a party of 8 or more. To get three of us in; they still told us it would be approximately one hour. They don't do back to back races. If you want to do more than one race they schedule it out, so you have to wait even longer. It would be fine, but they don't offer much while you wait. There is a snack station and a couple video games in the far corner. There is plenty of seating; look out though some of the couches have broken spring. Can't complain because you didn't come to sit, you came to drive:) Once your group is up they call you names over the intercom. At you wait at the starting area they quickly go over the flags and what to do then let you in to get your helmet. First timers, you pay a $6 fee which includes a head cover to wear under the helmet. After you are setup, they call your names and which go kart you drive. They lead everyone off with a warmup lap then off you go. 14 laps of fun. They are electric, not gas so they go slower, but still fun and to peal out around the corners. It's a fun time with kids. read more

Be careful--it's impossible to get a refund at this place. I put down a deposit for my family, 9 people, and didn't realize that since my daughter was newly pregnant it was not a good idea for her to participate. So she sat out. The guy at the counter said he couldn't give refunds and that I had to call the person I made our reservation with. I contacted him and he was unwilling to give me a refund. Basically said if I would have called by 3 pm he would have granted me one, but since I contacted him after we got home I was out of luck. Not cool. Poor customer service. I will not be bringing my family back to this place. Good customer service is extremely important to me. This right here? Yeah, this right here is MY track away from home. It's as good as it gets in Utah--hands down, no question about that. I've gone through great lengths to drive throughout the US to visit tracks. Indoor go-karting places around Salt Lake County have difficulty prospering. There is a car and motorsport community. Unfortunately, those Utah natives I've had the pleasure of racing with don't seem to utilize indoor speedways as a more affordable means of practice, as one would often see in Cali. I don't quite get it but Utah's community has its own endearing qualities. Compared to other indoor karting facilities I've been to around Utah, the crowd at this K1 is several notches above the Utah norm. The people K1 attracts tend to be more serious and constructive drivers. I've had workers who have spotted me and actually helped give me tips on where I could be shedding off 1/10 of a second. It's not going to be the same crowd that you'd see in other states, where you're frequently racing alongside national champions... This location is SO SO SO much nicer than most K1 Speeds because the track/kart/facility/equipment are all newer. The track is HUGE with a decent course that I'm still trying to figure out. I definitely haven't plateaued yet, but it's also because this is the best track in the area so I'm savoring it and purposely limiting frequency here. Prices are relatively more inexpensive than other K1 Speeds found in California, Colorado, and Texas. There are also Groupons and daily specials for this place--so get on it if you're on a budget! They can accommodate parties here too! The customer service is great here! The times I've been here, the manager and staff have always recognized me and would try to get to know me. The course workers (from out of state) would also tell me where I can improve my time, which I really appreciate! Wait has never been long for me! There were times that I had the track to myself also! I love it. Tip 1: If you're new to the area, they do Sunday Cars & Coffee at Sweet Country in Draper! No, it's not the official Cars & Coffee International...I assume they're just borrowing the catchy name. You won't find the huge array of supercars you'd used to see back when Irvine, CA used to have Cars & Coffee (but there is a community and it's fun to just find common ground). Tip 2: There is a height minimum, so leave your 4 foot nothing kids at home! Also, after you race, you can track your K1 scores online (the race history will always stay). Tip 3: This is the first K1 I've ever rated 5 stars, but it is a Utah 5 star. To my visitors from California/Texas checking out my other reviews for K1, I would rank this place more like 4 stars if we threw out the location aspect. read more

It was my husband's 30th birthday and this was an ABSOLUTELY PERFECT activity for an all adult party! I definitely can see why it would become addicting. The staff was fantastic, we were there for the allotted time we had reserved, and they even were open and accommodating to the thought of us bringing a pinata. I could only give 3 stars though.. because although everyone enjoyed themselves, it was hard getting the amount of people required to reserve a time due to the cost. For 1 practice race + 1 final race it is $49 per person. Regardless it is definitely worth trying and everyone needs to try this at least once! Especially in the Sandy area. My daughter met the height requirement. Yet she was told her shoes made her a touch taller. I said don't all our shoes? There is no sign that said height requirement without shoes. I said it's her brothers 17th Birthday can't our family just race together and I got no response. So instead of finding a solution to make their customers happy especially for a birthday celebration we were just told no. So we left and they lost 4 customers. My husband trains managers for a living and he said keeping a customer is much easier and cheaper than finding a new one. Always find a solution. He said if it was his business he would have let the family be their own racing group. read more

Wow was thus fun! I was on vacation with my family and didn't know of any activities that all of our ages would appreciate so leave it to my fellow yelpers to lead us to this gem! Easy to find off the freeway and nice big parking lot. The first impression Inside is awesome with comfy leather looking couches, tire tables with glass tops and fun chairs that look like race car bucket seats. There is even a race car in the entryway! So very cool. Easy process with computers for each person to enter their info in quickly and pay at the end of the counter. We did the 3 race packa he each and saved I think $11. Everything is clean and not too noisy to watch. The track was easy enough for beginners like myself but you can get enough speed going for people like my husband who drive ferraris on the Las Vegas speed track to enjoy it too lol. ** top speed on these is 45mph*** but it seems like a lot faster. A friend and I went here for the first time the other night and it was a lot of fun and we left smiling. I had only two items to note: 1. I wish they had lockers to store anything you have with you...coats, purses, etc. Since they don't, travel with only the bare essentials and what will fit in the pocket of your jeans. 2. At the end of the evening, the carts were losing steam and one died all together during our heat, meaning they stopped us and that person had to go get a new cart while they removed the one that had died. This is not a "SPEEDWAY", if you want to race go carts your better off at boondocks racing children go carts. If your looking to waist money your better off just throwing it out the window. They cut the power to your cart if you get to close to a person. They don't line people up to start the race they just let you go right out of the gate.
