I had a great time at this location. They do a really great job of explaining the process there and help you find a good race type. AJ at the front was really nice and good with all the kids there. If you are serious about racing they also have some cool options to compete. I would go again and recommend the more serious races to several people I know. I've gone twice in the past two days and have experienced below average customer service for an absurd price. Every step I took in K1 speed I was being charged. The employees were unamused and just trying to push races out as fast as possible. They wouldn't give me my previous race lap times and just pushed me along. For paying $25 for a 8 minute race you'd expect some level of interaction. Fun once or twice though. The karts vary drastically between one and another and randomly shut off mid race. read more

Visitors need to expect appropriate pricing. This place provides a great experience and environment. I have visited large hi end go kart facilities elsewhere and this one provides a great entertainment. Other gas powered places smell worse and are very loud. Staff was friendly. Teenagers working at any venue are always going to be awkward at customer service. Sometimes aloof and sometimes lazy (on phones etc) but here they were engaging enough. Reviews complaining about pricing is getting old. It's 2016. You should expect to pay for hi end products...wanna pay 8 dollars? Go to boondocks. One caveat and this is me personally venting (hence the 4 stars) is K1 has a "license fee" which as stated is a membership and pays for helmets and head socks and online access to your scores. So when you advertise 2 races for $35 and then your bill is $7 more per person then it feels a little hidden. I'd rather personally know exactly what I'm paying so I can make a choice. I can't bring in my own helmet or decline this fee so it doesn't feel like a value added cost and since we are outta town this "membership" isn't valuable. I love this place. I race here 3 or 4 times a year and always have a great time. The karts are super fast. The staff is always fun and they keep kids safe. They have snacks, pizza and some arcade games. My favorite part of K1 is the fast karts. Its always clean in there. The staff and managers always take great care of me and my family. If you are looking for some fun check it out. If you love competition, you want to go on a weekend. Some times you have to wait for your race. But there is lots to do, i like watching the other racers. But if you like having the best time or the best of the week i would go on a weekday. My goal is to race all the K1 speed tracks. This was a terrible experience. My wife and I received gift cards from my Mom, who went and asked for enough for one race each for my siblings and I. They gave her $22 gift cards, which is their price for one race. To me that sounds like a slightly above normal price.. Today, we went for the first time and when we got there, we didn't know that there was an annual "membership fee" involved, so right off the bat, we had to pay $16 even though my Mom was apparently sold gift cards to cover the whole amount. Oh well, whatever right? Wrong. They gave us a head sock, to put on underneath their (surprisingly) provided helmet. Only one size to pick from, which is a lot smaller than my big head, but I managed to barely squeeze in. We got the run down on how to go faster, and then we were placed in a cart, that I didn't really fit in. (My knees were touching the steering wheel.) And then finally we were off. It took me about two laps to figure out the controls right and go fast, but I'm pretty good with mechanical things like this, my wife, however is not, and it took her about eight laps to figure things out, but by then she kept getting a flag to let people pass her, so she could barely enjoy her remaining laps. Then it was over. The whole racing time was probably a total of five minutes. Just nothing. So overall, if you want to pay around $30 per five minutes of racing, go right ahead, but I can think of a lot better things to spend $6/min on. Don't waste your money. read more

I'm not really a go kart kind of guy. I mean, I'm not super into cars, I don't have kids, and I'm 30 years old. So yeah, not really my thing. But we and the entire sales team at my work found ourselves here for some morale boosting on a Tuesday morning. What better way to start your day? It's obvious this place is more geared towards the birthday parties of 10 to 14 year olds, however on this fine occasion, it was a group of male adults. I lost, repeatedly...by a significant margin. This wasn't the cheapest outing by any means, but the employees are kind, the establishment is clean, the statistical keeping on your laps is fun to go over at the end, and they have every flavor of RedBull. So all in all, it was a fun time. If you can afford it, bring your kids here, or throw their next birthday party here. Bring a flask though, they don't have alcohol for the adults, although I imagine if you wanted, you could probably get weed from the employees. read more

Once you have arrived and been told that the wait is an hour or more, you have to sit around at the place until it's your turn because they don't have a notification system to tell you when your turn is coming up. Get ready to spend half of your day sitting around waiting to drive go karts for 20 minutes. This place has no respect for people's time. I'm not one for writing reviews but I feel this place needs one so no one else has the same experience as I did- my six year old son LOVES gokarts and I saw on the website that the minimum height requirement is 48 inches so for a birthday celebration we decided to go to K1. What a mistake that was- we got there paid and waited for his race to start, when they called his name and he went up to race they told him he was to short (even though he's just over 48 inches). He was devastated! The height requirement is false advertisement- not only that but I was appalled that they didn't mention anything when we first got there and paid for the race. We came here to do a birthday party for a bunch of 10 year old girls. The racing is cool they loved it. The rest of the experience was not so cool and we would never come here again for something like that. First of all It's pretty pricey, they make you pay for 8 racers minimum but it's supposed to cover pizzas drinks plates etc etc. they charge extra for anything more than 1 pizza. Pretty crazy considering what you spend. Two of the tables in the party room collapsed and we almost lost the cake. This is suppose to be a fun race is it not? You end up paying $60 dollars for 2 adults for something that you can't even enjoy! When your "racing" you aren't allowed to pass because you might accidentally bump someone and get disqualified. You can't stay in first either because you will get blue flagged which means you have to let people pass. So you basically are paying all of that money to drive around in a circle for 10 minutes because of you break the "rules" you get disqualified anyway! And It doesn't help that a bunch of young teenage punks are running the place and would rather be on their phones than caring about their customers. The staff did nothing to make sure their patrons were following the law. We came in and it was empty, except for 2 people who were either employees, or friends of the employees, they both had unlocked speed carts so they would be flying by us with no speed limiter on their carts, so it wasn't even a fair enjoyable race. employees were rude and they couldn't even get there computers to work to get race times. I don't typically bother with reviewing venues, but my family was treated so poorly by the employees and management here, I felt compelled to share our experience with others. We bought a Groupon for K1 Speed with the goal of doing a family outing (we have two kids, ages 11 and 7). Even the Groupon wasn't cheap. It came to just under $100 for the four of us to do two laps each (which is about half the regular K1 Speed price). The kids went first, and they did have fun. The other kids on the track were polite, and my kids felt comfortable. However, they received little training prior to driving (this was their first time on a kart). I had to walk up to one of the guys running the track and ask him to check my son's helmet, because I could tell it wasn't on correctly. The guy huffed at me and acted totally put out. When my husband and I went, they put us on the track with a group of very experienced racers: a father and two older kids. We received NO training at all, even though it's part of their policy to provide training. I asked for help with my seat belt and helmet, and received an eye roll and barely an acknowledgement from the employees who are there to help you. Once I was on the track, it took me a while to figure things out. Yes, I bumped into some walls; yes, I bumped into a couple of the other karts. This was NOT done aggressively or on purpose. I just didn't know what I was doing. At this point, the employees slowed the speed of the karts, and one of them yelled at me. When the speed picked back up, the man who was on the track got really aggressive with me. He wouldn't ease up and he kept skimming my car in a way to push me off to the side. This was really scary (I'm not a big person!). At one point, he pushed me so hard that I turned around on the track and he ran right into me, which seriously hurt. On top of that, the guy started yelling at me, swearing and calling me names. The employees are RIGHT THERE, and say and do NOTHING. Once we get off the track, I'm upset and want to leave. The manager basically just wants to shove us out the door because he doesn't want to hear it and the man who was so abusive is a regular costumer who spends a lot of money there. We're mere Groupon people. My husband tries to reason with the manager, then tries to talk to the aggressive dude. The guy gets in my husband's face, really threatening and belligerent, right in front of the manager. But again, the manager does nothing. He asks US to leave. We are not confrontational people! These kinds of things don't happen to us. This was completely CRAZY. Our kids were with us, and we didn't want to make a scene so we left. Bottom line: rude, bored employees; horrible management out for their bottom line; UNSAFE environment since they don't really provide training; no sense of fun. It completely ruined our family outing. The only nice person at the entire establishment is Kasie, the girl at the front desk. She is so friendly and is the only one who apologized. Kudos to Kasie for being a sweetheart; shame on the rest of the staff. We will never come back (even though we still have rides left) and want to spread the world about how awful this place is. Came here with a work group for a team building activity. I was apprehensive because I'm a very risk adverse person, but it turned out to be a great experience. Mario Kart skills do not transfer but the staff here did a great job at making me feel safe and helping me do my best on the course. I was able to knock my lap time down from 30 s to around 25 and felt good about that for a first try go karting. Worth a try but more physically draining than you might expect and uncomfortable for taller folks. read more

I used to love this place. I got my K1 "license" when they first opened. Been there at least 50 times with family and friends. Now, it sucks. The one star reviews are accurate. They sent me no less than 8 Emails over the holidays for discount tickets (buy 2, get one free) and Thursday night Glo-Karts. I tried to call them to confirm they were having Glo-Karts yesterday. You can't get through to anyone. So, I looked at their website, it shows that Glo-Karts were happening last evening. I arranged for some friends and my kids to go to K1. Some drove from Bountiful (about 25 miles) to go there. We walked in at 6:30 and we were told that it was closed for a private event. I asked the young girl why they don't pick up their phone calls and she said that all calls are routed to a call center in California. I asked why they didn't inform customers about the private event, online, and her reply was that they have no control over their website. WTF? They had a bare bones crew and "We're Hiring" signs on the doors and counter. Usually a sign of not paying quality employees enough to work there. It show. They employ the dregs with no training or customer communication skills. I won't be coming back. These are franchises. I hope the owners will sell the place to someone that actually knows how to run a business and hire and train employees. What a shame this place has become. read more

Guys. I love what you do, and I love the customer service and overall cleanliness of this place. What K1 has put together is great for casuals looking to get a taste of motorsports without committing large sums of money or time but there's one thing keeping you from that 5 stars for me, and that's the lack of fair competition. I had a friend visiting from out of town and he wanted to race karts, I weighed our options, Utah Motorsports Campus or K1. We opted for K1 since it was much closer, you definitely have the advantage there, although with both of us having 10+ experience in racing I did want to show him our local facility. So instead we raced your karts. Consistently we're both at about 24.400-24.600 lap times over the course of three races with maybe some minor drops by tenths of a second occasionally. I get karts are not all the same, some might have a bit better acceleration, some might have a funky alignment. That's no big deal and it's fun to adapt quickly and is not the issue here. The issue is my lack of trust in the speed controllers on the karts and the people flagging that are controlling those karts remotely. The very last race, I'd say about the last 3-4 laps, we were both immediately hit with a boost of speed. This was enough to drop us both far into the 23 second range gaining nearly a second on our previous times. It was a very minor boost in acceleration, I'm sure most people do not notice this, but we both definitely did. It's especially evident as you're passing the projector screen every lap and suddenly see that clear drop in times. This is great, I can see multiple reasons why you might do this for people. Whether it is to try and get them hooked into another race or get them feeling like they accomplished something, that's great. But for someone who would claim they are a hardcore enthusiast of motorsports this is kind of a buzzkill for me. I'd much rather have that 100% power the entire race than just a quick spurt at the end to make me feel good. We're out to best our lap times and stack up against the rest of the competition over the past week. We both ended up with top times of the week, that's great, but considering the cheater boost it feels kind of like an empty victory. So just a heads up, I say this stuff not to be a critical asshole or anything. I get K1 corporate might have strategies and marketing to get people to keep coming and this could be one of those weird strategies, or it could have just been a mistake by the guy behind the controller. But to me this is the kind of thing that brings a distrust to your karts and why I would prefer something more raw and realistic like the karts out at UMC. Also, you guys have an amazing location for cars and coffee. I've mentioned it to the GMs there before, why you are not organizing a weekly or monthly meet in your huge parking lot for car enthusiasts across the valley is confusing to me. Especially since you have a coffee shack at the end of your lot! Just a thought, because you'd probably make a killing there. read more

So me and my son go to go kart we get signed up and this teenager tells me to come back in an hour and ten minutes we go home then come with time to spare we ask when the Junior race was going to start and she said that they called him multiple times at 7:20. We were originally there at 7 so the race shouldn't have started until about 8:10. She rolled her eyes at me and told me basically that I wasn't listening! Well we weren't there! We went home to drop my husband off because we didn't want to wait over an hour and specifically told the girl we would be back!! She then "created" a "race" for him to race alone!! He doesnt want to drive around in circles by himself!! It wasted my entire night!!!!! And there wasn't even an apology!! They acted like it was my fault!!! Please don't tell customers their race is going to be in an hour and 10 minutes just to call them 20 minutes or less later! We would have just waited!! There was no "miscommunication"!! You flat out told us the wrong time and wasted our whole night so you could have atleast owned up to it!!!! Waste of time!!! That's all you have to say??? She KNEW we weren't there!! Because I looked in her face and told her that we were leaving and wouldn't be back until she TOLD us!!! It was my sons birthday race and we couldn't ise it any other time that month so it was wasted!! NO it's not "like a restaurant" if she would have told us "hey, it could be sooner, so stick around-we would have!!!!!!!!!! She got out said that was what the wait time was-no possibility of sooner. We would have stayed!!! For the price this place cost you could be more upfront and apologetic!!!!!!!! I had a lot of fun at this go-kart cart track. The track itself is challenging and the employees are great. I have been to 3 different K1 Speed tracks and also to a competitor and the employees at Sandy UT were the best so far. All of the employees really want to make sure you have a good and safe time while improving your driving skill. The front desk workers and particularly Allie, really try to make sure you end up in a group that is a good fit for your skill level. I went a few of times while visiting my daughter in Salt Lake City over the holidays. There is some variation in the karts but overall they seemed to work well. I had the most fun when racing with people that were at a similar level because you can learn by comparing your line and speed into and out of corners. I don't know if K1 always offer this, but you can save some money by buying gift cards on those Web site -- a $50 gift card comes with an additional $10 gift card. Groupon has a deal also. read more
