Took my son on a spontaneous mother-son date on a Monday to K1 Speed, and it was both of our first time. Before going, I checked their website for pricing and general info. I'm not going to lie, it seemed a bit pricey at $29.99 for just one 10-minute Arrive & Drive race, plus the $8.99 annual license. But then I saw their weekly specials, and the Monday deal definitely caught my attention: "Members Only Monday": 3 races and the license for $50. Say less! When we arrived, we filled out the waiver and the staff member shared the prices for different race options... but somehow forgot to mention the Monday special. Of course, I had to speak up lol. I told him what I saw online, and he was like, "Oh yeah, I forgot about that." So we went with the special. After, they walked us through a quick briefing on how everything works. We got suited up with our masks and helmets and were ready to go. The best part? There was no one else there, so my son and I had the entire track to ourselves. We ended up doing one race and called it a day. We were told that we can use the 2 remaining races anytime, which is a nice perk. My son had a great time, so we'll definitely be back. Also, there's plenty of parking, food available for purchase, and arcade games, which makes it a fun spot to hang out beyond just racing.

Big line of people , 1 person working ... slow service !!! Why nobody can help with other 20 people in line?

This is a fun activity for kids around 7 years and older as there is a height limit. There are 2 go kart race tracks. One for juniors and one for older teens and adults. There are long wait periods on the weekends and there is an arcade with few games to keep you occupied while you wait. The staff at the front desk are friendly. However the staff at the tracks can be grumpy and mean. There are no instructions given to you at all when you enter, you just sit down and hope for the best! Helmets are provided - they are stinky and gross. But they do give you a head sleeve to wear under your helmet.

This was my first time trying go cart racing and it was good and bad. K1 Speed is an indoor go cart racing chain with over 90 locations. The location of this K1 is in Irvine, CA and they have fully electric go karts. I came here for a private event, which is the best way to go, because we had the place to ourselves, a nice buffet, and plenty of drinks. When we first arrived, we all had to sign waivers, and then were given wristbands and drink tickets. This process took awhile because the line I was in moved very slowly. Then, one of the workers went over the rules and the meanings of each colored flag. Next, were able to select helmets, however, they were out of small helmets so I had to squeeze into an XS. Finally, we were buckled into our karts. We had to wait quite a while until we got to race because there were two rows ahead of us. Once it was our turn to race, we went on the track and drove 13 laps. Driving the go karts on the main track was pretty fun! I was hit once, but it wasn't too bad. They had a second track that was smaller and had more turns. I was the last kart in the row and after everyone got on the track, my kart wouldn't go. They had not turned my kart on! After they turned on the car and the system loaded, I was able to join the other drivers on the track. The second course had a lot more turns and I was able to drift more. Towards the end of the race, a cart in front of me stopped and another kart crashed into me at full speed. The impact was so strong, my head was completely shaken and my bottom teeth pushed against my top teeth. Even over a day later, the back of my head still has pain. A lady that I had crashed into injured her thigh. After the major crash, I was done racing. In addition to the racing, we had a Mexican (Cinco de Mayo) themed buffet with a delicious salad, black beans, rice, tortillas, chicken and beef or pork, and chips and salsa. The food was good, especially the salad and chips. We were also given drink tickets for alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks, which was really generous. The staff provided good service. The check-in process went smoothly, although a bit slow. The staff at the racing area were helpful and informative. The staff at the bar/food area were great. The place is decorated like a race track and there is a podium for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Although the K1 go kart racing is somewhat dangerous, if you don't get into a severe crash, it can be a very fun experience.

Broken phone during race

Had a terrible experience at K1 Speed Irvine. A family member's phone was destroyed on the track, and the manager, Seth, showed zero empathy or professionalism. He claimed there were signs everywhere telling guests to secure phones -- but there were none, and staff never warned us. When we tried to explain the issue so it doesn't happen to others, he got defensive and told us to leave instead of addressing the problem. Very disappointing and unprofessional. Definitely don't recommend going to Irvine location. I hope their corporate pays serious attention to this horrible customer experience as it can cause a lot of harm and dissatisfaction.

Ask the Community - K1 Speed Irvine

Hi, I have a 13 years old, 11 years old, and 8 years old son. Each kids can drive carts by themselves?

Hello, Yukari! Yes, all of your children can drive our karts by themselves (all of our karts are…

How tall do you have to be?

Hello, Cerrissa! You have to be at least 48" (4') tall to drive the Junior Karts, and 58" (4'10") to drive the Adult Karts. See you at the track!

When the place is rented out, is there a way you all can post that instead of us driving down and finding out we cannot race due to large groups?

Hello B.C.! We're so sorry we were closed for a private event when you visited. Yes, we've always…

Do I need to have an appointment ? Can I directly walk in?

Yes. You can walk in. Sometimes it's busy so you might want to RSVP online. Have to RSVP for a party or group.

So many bad reviews. Is this what I should expect when we come by? What should we do to avoid rude customer service and how many hours early should we arrive before our races begin?

Does the irvine location still offer the Tuesday buy 2 races get 1 free?

Hello Naoki! Yes, at this time of writing we are offering the Buy 2 Get 1 Free race special on Tuesdays. See you at the track!

What is the estimated wait time if we arrive pre opening?just a rough estimate

Depends if they have reservations to be honest. Shouldn't take long once they set up.

Would a party of 2 be placed into a race quickly if we arrive pre-opening on a Sunday?

Hello Mish! We can't guarantee it'll be super quick (based on how many others have the same idea that day) but that's definitely one of the best strategies for shortening your wait time. Best of luck!

Is the VR Zone Portal open now?

Hello Dary! We're sorry, but our VR Zone is still currently closed at this moment. We're hoping to open it again soon!

How much is private group reservation of like 8 people?

Best to call. They are usually booked up.

Can we bring our own helmet?

Yes you can. Using the supplied helmets gross me out so I have always brought my own. Also nice because you don't need to wear the balaclava (head sock)

Is their anyone one here who has had difficulties getting in touch with a customer service representative when trying to find answers to some questions?

Luis, we'd love to help answer any questions you have. Simply ask us here, give us a call, or send an email to info@k1speed.com! Thank you!

How much for one ride and how old to be to play the game?

Only

Does one race for $22.95 mean just one loop around? How long does one race go for?

Hey Jessica! Thanks for your interest! One race is 12 laps around the track. The duration depends on the speed of the fastest driver and whether there are any slow caution periods during the race. But typically it's between 6-10 minutes per race.…

After that, we headed over to the bumper boats and the gentlemen working was so nice and helpful. I believe his name was Deon! That was a really fun experience and definitely nice on a hot day. After that, we did some go karts, I think you get a pretty decent amount of time to drive them. Then we went to the arcade played some games before heading on out. Overall, it was a nice time! That happened to my 12-year-old daughter on the Flamethrower at Boomers. She had just finished riding and asked to go again. The attendant said yes, then started the ride without checking her seat belt. She immediately began screaming that she wasn't buckled in. The operator showed no sense of urgency. I started yelling, "Please stop the ride! She's not buckled in!" During the roughly two-minute ordeal, the only explanation I heard from him was, "I tried. I don't know what to do." I called across to other employees: "Do you know how to stop this ride? He doesn't know how!" Another employee said he did--and casually walked over. Walked. While my daughter was screaming that she wasn't secured. Where was the urgency? The ride continued through its entire cycle while she screamed. Once it stopped, I got her off and spoke with a manager, but I left without confidence that the seriousness of what happened had been addressed. How can parents trust a ride when the employees operating it appear unable to stop it in an emergency? This was one of the most frightening experiences I've had as a parent. Based on what we experienced, I would not bring my daughter back.

It was definitely a lot smaller than I remembered now that I am an adult, but it was truly the perfect size theme park for toddlers. It's nice that pretty much everything is included, just a couple of things that cost extra, like food to feed the animals, souvenirs, arcade games, but mostly everything we wanted to check out was included. Our kids are 3 1/2 and 5 and pretty much enjoyed all the rides! The roller coaster is a little rough, but I think it just depends on your kid, since my younger one really enjoyed it. They have food available to buy in the center of the park and tables all around, making it really easy to just take a break to eat something. I like that everything is really close to each other, so you don't feel like you're walking around a maze to get around. I wouldn't even bother with a stroller because everything is so close to each other. The tickets are the same price for anyone above one year old. I do wish the kids tickets were a little bit cheaper, but other than that, I thought it was a pretty fair price, considering you'd probably pay the same amount for a similar type wristband for rides at a fair for example, and at least younger kids can ride all of these ones. You probably wouldn't be able to spend a whole day here because of the size but an afternoon or a morning is plenty, especially for this age range.

Booking: We originally booked a two-day, one-night stay in the spring but had to cancel due to an emergency. Thankfully, we were able to keep our payment as a credit to use within a year. When we decided to rebook, I had to call to use the credit. The phone wait was extremely long, so my advice is to call as soon as they open. Also, check their website for discounts before calling because the reservation representatives won't necessarily look for those deals for you. Arrival and Parking: Parking was easy in the large garage. You pay for parking based on the number of nights you're staying, and then you're free to come and go. We arrived around 10 a.m. and completed pre-check-in. They let us know we'd receive a text when our room was ready. There wasn't anywhere to store our luggage, so we left everything in the car. Thankfully, luggage carts were available near the garage elevators. Our Room: We reserved the Wolf Den suite, which has a queen bed and a separate bunk-bed area for the kids. We loved that the girls had their own little space! The queen bed felt small since we're used to a king at home, but the bigger issue was how loudly it creaked on my husband's side. Every time he moved during the night, it woke me up. The room was also surprisingly dark. There were a few lamps and lights near the beds and sink, but they didn't provide much overall lighting. We were close to the elevators, which was convenient because we didn't have to walk down those long hallways. However, we could hear people talking and making noise in the hallway. Thankfully, we brought our sound machine, which helped us sleep. We also discovered that our TV remote was missing a battery. We tried calling the front desk several times without an answer, so my husband had to walk downstairs. Once he spoke to someone, they came up to help within minutes. Water Park and Activities: The water park was a lot of fun! I highly recommend visiting when schools aren't on break because the crowds and wait times are much more manageable. Most of the water attractions are fairly tame, although there's a four-person raft slide that's pretty intense. Only two of the four of us enjoyed that one! There were renovations happening during our visit, but we also noticed some new activities, including mini golf and a ropes course. My husband and the girls spent about an hour on the ropes course and absolutely loved it. We also decided to check out the bowling alley, and a kind stranger surprised us by giving us free tokens. Bless her heart! We were able to play a round before heading to the water park. The bowling balls are smaller and easy for kids to handle, and the lanes have bumpers, which makes it a great family activity. We had a lot of fun! Of course, we also stopped by the arcade, which is always a hit with our family. Towels are provided at the water park, but you need to return them before leaving. There's also a shop selling swimsuits, water shoes, goggles, and other essentials. We forgot our girls' goggles and bought the least expensive ones there, but unfortunately, they broke almost immediately. Food: We ate at several restaurants during our stay. Hungry as a Wolf continues to be a favorite! We ordered pizza and wings through the Great Wolf Lodge app while enjoying the water park. The food was ready quickly, and we received a text when it was ready for pickup. We were able to bring it into the water park, which was very convenient. For dinner, we tried the Timbers Table & Kitchen buffet because the girls really wanted to eat there. The food was okay, but I didn't feel it was worth the price. The main benefit was not having to leave the resort. On Saturday, we had lunch at Buckets Burgers & Bites on the upper level of the water park. We ordered using the nearby touchscreen, and the food came out quickly. We had a burger, kids' chicken nugget meals, and chicken tenders with fries. Everything tasted good! Seating was somewhat limited, but we managed to find spots near the bar. Before leaving, we stopped at Wood's End Creamery for ice cream. My daughter and I had vanilla soft serve, and our other daughter chose birthday cake. My vanilla wasn't particularly good, but it was a nice final treat before heading home. Overall: Great Wolf Lodge is a fun place for a family getaway, especially if your kids enjoy water activities. We loved spending time together, and the girls had a wonderful time. There are definitely areas that could use improvement, particularly the room comfort, lighting, reaching the front desk, and the value of some dining options. But despite those frustrations, we made some great memories and enjoyed our stay!

Irvine Park Railroad - Inside the pumpkin patch

Irvine Park Railroad

I recently visited Irvine Park Railroad and was very disappointed with the handicap parking…read moresituation. The designated handicap parking spaces do not appear to meet accessibility requirements. There is barely any room on either side of the vehicles for someone using a wheelchair to get in or out safely. The spaces are so tight that wheelchair access is extremely difficult, if not impossible. I also noticed that there are no clearly marked wheelchair symbols or designated striped access aisles painted on the ground. Simply putting up a handicap parking sign does not make a parking space accessible. People with disabilities need adequate space to safely enter and exit their vehicles. I hope Irvine Park Railroad takes this seriously and makes the necessary improvements to ensure its handicap parking spaces meet California accessibility standards. Everyone deserves safe and equal access.

Extremely Disappointing Experience - Poor Management and Lack of Compassion…read more We drove an hour and a half to visit Irvine Park Railroad on Tuesday, October 27th. Unfortunately, what should have been a fun family outing ended up being an extremely disappointing experience. The park closed at 6 PM on the dot while we were still on the train ride. We had 7 tickets remaining, valued at $56, so we rushed over to one of the booths where children could decorate their own pumpkins. These were small pumpkins, approximately 8 inches tall, requiring 2 tickets each (a value of $16 per pumpkin). I had 4 children with me and was short just ONE ticket. I politely asked the employees if we could take all four pumpkins without the stickers or decorations that came with them. We were literally one ticket short. The employees refused without manager approval. The so-called manager took her time coming over, only to repeatedly tell us "unfortunately" and refuse to make any exception. I even offered to pay the missing ticket out of pocket, but she still refused. What made the situation even worse was watching one of the children cry after being told they couldn't have a pumpkin like the other three children. We spent $200 at your establishment without hesitation, yet management couldn't find it in themselves to show even a little flexibility over an $8 difference. What makes this even more frustrating is that even other employees, including the girls operating the tractors and the employee at the gold mine, were encouraging the booth staff to just let the children have their pumpkins. You 3 girls were soo sweet and kind to our girls while we went through your booth. When we eventually decided to take only three pumpkins, the employee at the booth suggested looking around because most of the remaining pumpkins were already beat up. And they absolutely were. But here's what really adds insult to injury: just FOUR DAYS after our visit, on October 31st, your Instagram page announced that you would be giving away pumpkins. So let me understand this: you were unwilling to accommodate four children over one missing ticket, even when I offered to pay the difference, only to turn around and give away pumpkins a few days later? There is also something particularly disappointing about this experience when you consider the history of Irvine Regional Park. In 1897, James Irvine Jr. donated 160 acres to Orange County for just $1, with specific conditions intended to preserve the natural beauty of the land, protect its trees, and prohibit the sale of alcohol. His intention was to preserve this space for the public and future generations to enjoy. A place with such a meaningful history and a family-oriented purpose should reflect those same values in the way it treats its visitors. Unfortunately, our experience with management was the complete opposite of that. This isn't about the $8. It's about customer service, compassion, and understanding that sometimes a little flexibility can make a huge difference, especially when children are involved. We have made the long drive two years in a row because we genuinely enjoyed visiting. However, after this experience and seeing how management handled such a simple situation, I will seriously reconsider visiting next year. What should have been a fun family outing ended with a child in tears over something that could have easily been handled differently. That's unfortunately what I'll remember about this visit.
