This place lacks leadership. I understand coaches are a volunteer position, however there is no sense of teamwork or community. We have been coming here for many seasons but as my kid gets older the experience is becoming more and more disssapointing. We have yet to have a coach that works with them on improving skills. Play time goes to kids who excel and dont even show up to practice. Teammates are extremely rude with coaches who turn a blind eye. We will not be returning after this season. Rather drive to Corona and try that out. read more

Got to the location and they stated that we have to bring our own skates and it's only Monday through Friday. Where clearly it was NOT stated anywhere on their Groupon. Tickets stated it came with skates. Staff stated that due to COVID which they used that reason but upon purchasing the tickets all the reviews on Groupon stated that they provided them with skates. read more

Call me old but I'll still call this Gretzky's or 949. You can't break me of it! :) Other than the horrendous ducks decor, the rink remains the same as before. The bathrooms are baren but clean, functional and there's always towels & toilet paper. The staff is friendly & the apparel and equipment in the store is adequate for last minute items. They changed up the pricing for the adult leagues recently where everyone pays the same...but not everyone gets the same "ice time." (Something to hash out internally in the leagues.) You can bring your own snacks & cooler but they have a little snack bar as well. In the winter, the dry mix hot chocolate tastes pretty good on those metal bleachers! Bring quarters if you have little ones in the little arcade area; an addition I really enjoy! :) read more

Came with friends for their public skate on a Sunday from 2-4 pm, and had a great time! Although we mistakenly thought there would be an ice rink, and intended to come for ice skating, we ended up having a blast rollerblading. It's only $5 for the public skate, and an additional $3 if you need to rent their rollerblades. This made for a fun afternoon activity with family and friends! read more

Love playing at this rink and the people that work there go above and beyond. Ron is always involved and seen watching games and sometimes even playing in them when needed. All the workers there are nice! They show up during a time most people don't want to work! They are always friendly and helpful. I've seen all of them doing their part to keep the rink and the surrounding area clean and sanitary. I've seen a lot of different programs run by the rink such as learn to play for both adults and kids, recreational leagues for all age groups and skill levels and club travel teams. The coaches are always so involved! I see Skyler and Will out there working with the kids and you can tell they care about the kids and teaching them the game, it's more than just a pay check to them. The kids responses tell you everything! They are always at the rink working with the coaches and putting in the extra work to get better. It's awesome to see the kids look up to such great role models. The new coaching staff for the girls teams is awesome too! It's always nice to see the girls get some much needed attention for how skilled they are! Overall everyone at the rink is amazing and hope the staff never changes, without them the rink would go downhill. read more

My friends and I got a groupon deal to come here to rollerblade. We thought it was one of those indoor roller disco type of ordeals but turns out its mainly facilities for hockey players to practice in. I haven't rollerbladed in years and neither has my friends so we were a little bit nervous and prepared to fall. It was pretty empty when we went except for one birthday party that was going on, but it was cool. They blasted a lot of throw back songs so it was fun trying to concentrate skating and then trying to sing along with the music. Because we sucked at skating, thankfully there were these walkers that we could use kind of like training wheels. I was basically using that the entire time and decided to not use it at the end and *nearly* fell. It was really fun, really affordable, and such a great activity to do with your friends families and as a date idea! I will come back again! read more

My son will no longer be playing here. Will shepherd should not be allow to run this. He is 24 and can not handle the responsibility for this. He DOES NOT care about the children safety he only cares about his pay check. My son who plays under 8u got hit in the face by another player and there was no call. My son got hit so hard he dislocated his jaw. Will just say that's hockey no penalty call no ice to even offer. Nothing he just said he should toughen up. read more

Yes, the parking situation needs help, but this aside, it's a pretty nice rink. I like how the rinks are outside and the smell of " skate stank" dissipates in the outdoors. The bathrooms are clean and they have a nice skate shop and waiting area. The tournaments seem to be organized well and run smooth. read more

Do not book a party with this place!! Put down a deposit for my daughters bday party.. Covid lockdown hit a couple weeks later (before the party happened) I was told by this facility we would be getting a refund since they would be closing and they were not able to host a party. We never received a refund. I have tried calling and emailing repeatedly with no response whatsoever! They don't answer the phone and the party planning department conveniently stopped responding to emails altogether. They will rip you off in any way they can. read more

We went public skate from 2:30-4 and the kids had a great time! The staff were so kind and really helpful that they made checking in easy n fast. We will be back. Fun place to play both pickup and league. Cons - the leaking roof (moisture drips onto skating surface) - not enough restrooms (especially during tournaments or special events) - parking lot is small (sometimes have to utilize office park next door) - rink 1: uneven surface and dasher that shoots pucks right into the slot on hard around... if you've played on it you know. Pros - multiple leagues for varying skill levels - inexpensive league fees (compared to ice) - lobby/entrance has a pro shop, snack bar and TV's (usually with some game on) They have been making minor updates to the facility over the last couple of months starting with some re-surfacing in the locker rooms. Though I would have preferred the roof be fixed since winter is coming and the rain will cause games to be cancelled because the rinks are wet. read more

I've been a customer here for almost twenty years and it seems like the customer service here drops by the month. From California Roller Hockey Center to 949 RHC and now Irvine Inline, I have witnessed plenty of changes throughout the year, but this is by far the worst. The management is no where to be found, the front desk staff is never attentive nor interactive with the customers and your snack bar is always empty. Ever since the Huntington Beach Inline rink closed down, the care-free and run down look they had over there seemed to carry over to Irvine Inline. I understand that league dues were going to go up eventually, however the justification does not make sense. The only thing that the players get for an extra $300 per team fee is the new scoreboards. Very nice scoreboards, but I do not believe that should have been the priority. New locker rooms or additional bathrooms would have probably suited the customers better in my opinion. Also, how is it that rink dues go up and somehow we manage to play every game with one referee? In years past, there was hardly ever a time where there was only one referee for our games, no matter what time of the year it was. Right now, we have one referee for every game and they are usually inexperienced, sometimes with only weeks on the job! I do not ever see any training for those referees or any effort from the rink to increase the official count and it's very disappointing. I hope the rink can open up their wallet and pay their officials more than $16 to try to get more officials to join their ranks. read more

Pros: - 3 rinks - Shop and concessions on site - Tons of league options, no major issues with how leagues are run Cons: - Not enough restrooms. Sometimes the pre-game ritual has to wait for the post-game. - No showers. - Shop is closed for late games. I know not many people utilize it, but it would be nice if the other employees knew how to run the shop in case a player needs to pick up something before a late game. - Small locker rooms. Some are bigger than others, but I think they could fix it up a bit more. - Not enough parking. If there is an event going on prior or during other league games, parking is very limited. TLDR: - I feel like the size of the lot for the facility is under utilized and I would like to see them take more advantage of the space by adding another rink, better locker rooms, more restrooms, and/or showers. I've skated a number of inline rinks in my years and despite the few flaws, this is my favorite inline hockey rink. read more

Ohhh you think your Billy Badazz don't ya? Or perhaps just a run of the mill Tommy TuffGuy... lets see how well you really stack up. Dare to ya to jump over the boards with your twig as you push the puck and try to make it kiss the twine from any of 9 holes... Are you down? Are you just wanting exercise that will be the best you can get period? Want to teach your kids balance and hand-eye coordination? Well this is where you need to come to do that stuff... unless its raining and then your screwed. The corners always seem to get wet then or if there is heavy fog. Otherwise the rinks are great to skate on and definitely a great way to do something a bit different. Lets see how hardcore you are when you step onto a rink with a bunch of drones skating faster than you are who are half your age. Its fun to keep up and you learn to skate much better and anticipate a lot of things. If you don't, hockey will destroy you or just make you look stupid... I should know, its happened to me. But more often than not, I am able to keep up and be in the right place at the right time. The refs here are fair for the most part. This is incredibly important in a league for hockey as your screwed super bad when your stuck in the box and your team is short handed. I also think that this is a great place to learn many of the basics of the sport. As with most rinks, they have a large pro shop attached. Unlike most rinks, they have a mini food court with hot food. This helps if you are stuck there on a long day or your starving while your kids or significant others are playing a game and you didn't bring anything with you. The locker rooms are bare bones basic and there is always 1 team that will end up without a locker room. So have fun showing off the family jewels or chonies haha The bathroom is usually in good shape, but make sure you dry off your wheels otherwise you will crash left and right. So yeah I like this place, but its not the best place to go either. But I have played here for almost as long as this place has been open which was 3 ownership groups ago I think... read more

This place is cool! I mean squirts of all sizes cruising around in hockey gear, it is the cutest thing ever! But I digress..... I hung out there today because my friend's son's team was playing its first game. I had drive by a gazillion times so I was familiar with the outside but the inside is even cooler. There are two rinks side by side so games/practices can occur simultaneously on both as was the case today. High energy, season kicking off, everyone was excited. So you park off to the side and walk in through the front which is a pro shop with everything your mite will need to get his or her hockey on: pants and sticks to top of the line skates and all points in between. In addition there is a snack shop if you need something to munch on while you watch your child totally KILL CRUSH I mean play a game of hockey. The rinks are well maintained, they have nice semi pro looking scoreboards and loud horn sounds to mark the end and start of each period which is nice. The periods in games are 15 minutes each and they go of course 3 periods but play them back to back so the games are about an hour long so totally doable even if you are watching a friend's child. I was really amazed how well practiced the team was: each child knew exactly where they were supposed to be so the coaches rock here. The rinks are all covered so no sun exposure which is nice and overall A+ on the maintenance of the facility. It's not easy to keep things looking great with so much going on but the folks running the place do a good job. read more

The learn to play hockey program is excellent. For about 20-30 kids, there are at least 8 trainers on the "ice" at all times. The facility is always clean, the staff is very friendly and you can even watch hockey games in the lounge when you need to take a break. read more

The good! This place is NICE!!!! I like there are four rinks all offering different services to meet the needs of the residents of Orange County. Hockey in one rink, public skate in another, a private party in another... it is nice to have the space. I liked the staff portioned off part of the rink for beginners to get an intro into ice skating, and after about 30 min they opened that part up to the general public. The rink is nice and big enough to accommodate the size of the crowd. I hope the management at The Rinks gets this message. This easily could be a one or two star review. My experience here started out very frustrating. Skating to the public started about 2 PM and there is the flurry of people coming in to pay and get their skates. Four registers with no line organization... and to make matters worse the tool at one of the registers kept telling people to go to the other registers. It wasn't until he left that someone stepped up and started accepting customers... who weren't waiting in the other line. The next part of this nightmare came when it was time to get skates. Guess what!!! No line management again!!! It was a fricking free for all and it didn't help that the group that was in front of me basically got their skates (they were in front first) and just dropped onto the floor to start putting them on, so people getting skates had to step around them. I have one word for management... BENCHES!!!! The Irvine Spectrum when they had more seating than this place. Then the next challenge is... where to put your stuff?!??! No lockers, no cubbies... Nothing! Just shove stuff where you can and hope nothing gets stolen. For such a nice place, and with the exception of the one a-hole, the staff was exceptional. Heck, even when I mentioned my "suggestions" the staff member basically gave me the impression they have heard this before. If that is the case then do something about it. Benches, storage, and a little music while skating. That would be nice. I do plan on coming back but if this isn't resolved my review will be dropped to a one star. read more

I just want to echo previous 5 star birthday party comments seen below. The Rinks staff were very accomodating & helpful in every aspect. I'd repeat for sure if we decide we want another skating party. Good value. FYI they sub-contract out their pizza offerings from "Lamppost Pizza" which is reasonable, commodity pizza. We brought in a lot of our own favorite foods from home and other establishments... and didn't get any grief about it (i.e. they don't try to force you to order their food). The staff happily brought out more tables as our needs grew. They had plenty of chairs available for us on a wheeled rack as well. The rental skates also came out on a wheeled rack, and the guy assigned to our party went out of his way to fulfill any needs. He also put on his own skates and went onto the rink to assist anyone who might need a couple pointers or a hand getting back up off the floor :-) Just keep in mind that it's a covered, open-air facility with no AC... so dress accordingly. Finally... they'll even hook up your mp3 player through their PA if you want custom songs playing during your skating session. read more

I've only been to this location once while accompanying my boyfriend to "stick time." The rink looked clean and spacious, and there were three separate rinks! I would think that the open air set-up would make it a pretty hot place to hang out, but it seemed pretty cool thanks to the many covers all around the rinks. The bf really enjoys the rink and comes when he can! I wish the rink offered more flexible stick times for adult roller hockey players to take advantage of, but I was told the focus is more on younger players (thus the earlier stick times). We considered hosting a party at this location because the pricing seems incredibly reasonable, but I'm terrified of getting on roller skates/rollerblades. Maybe someday! read more

I can honestly say the staff is friendly, professional and we are always extremely happy with the outcome of our rentals and events. Best birthday party EVER! The kids loved this big, beautiful rink & I loved the great service!!! It's not crowded & crazy like those "bounce" places. The manager & staff couldn't do enough to help. They helped carry things to & from the car, supplied all the chairs, tables, drinks the kids wanted. They set up fast and the staff were happy to fulfill any request. The pizza was great, much better than expected. They had a large refrigerator to store our edible fruit arrangement & large cake! Skates were provided & they were ok if kids wanted to bring their own too. Fantastic group of people & as my daughter said, "best party ever!" read more

These guys run a pretty tight ship. They facilities are pretty well kept and maintained. They seem to fix things right away. Management and Staff are all super helpful and friendly. I've been playing here for years and my patience has finally run out for this place. The only thing it has going for it is that it has two OK rinks and one subpar rink in a decent location in Irvine. If Huntington didn't lack air conditioning/quality rinks, and if Corona wasn't beyond the 91 parking lot, I'd be playing there. For the many thousands of dollars they generate each season from team fees, they still only seem able to manage the place in a barely competent fashion. Do the games generally run on-time? Sure-ish. Do they keep adequate stats? Not really, but at least they get the score right. Are the pucks decent? Good God, no. They started using these horrid purple pucks that bounce around the rink like lacrosse balls. I keep expecting the ghost of Robin Williams to show up as Professor Brainard. As of 27 September 2017, they appear to have returned to proper pucks, but who knows how long that will last as the a manager has a connection to the company that makes the purple ones. Are their rinks kept in good condition? For the most part, but more than once have I had a crease that feels like someone oiled up and wrestled on it. Oh! And Rink 1 has this beautiful spot where if your defender rings it around your boards, it pops right back out into the slot. And do they have alright refs? Once again, there are plenty of good ones and some absolute rubbish ones. That very well may just be how they're supervised, though. More than once have my team and I had to wait for 45-60 minutes for a game to start because management forgot to schedule refs, and they also don't do much about vindictive ones (not even going to waste your time going into details there). The absolute worst part of this management team, though, is that they seem to consistently hold everything off until absolute last minute. I once found out an hour before my game (while I was on the 405) that my game was cancelled because the team we were supposed to play dropped out for the season. You mean to tell me that the team decided to drop out OF THE SEASON last minute, and Irvine Inline told us as soon as they found out? That is extremely unlikely. If it were just about any other rink complex, I'd maybe believe that, but I just can't with this place anymore. Even more recently, a new manager took over for certain days of the week, but she failed to mention to anyone in our league that our championship game would be held as the end of a double header right after our initial playoff game. I checked the website as soon as an e-mail was sent saying that the playoff times were posted. It only displayed game times for 09:15. No mention of a double header was there. No further e-mail was sent with this information. No mention of it on the website was made available until, yet again, the last minute. Why would anyone check the website again if no notice that a change to the schedule was made? The most classic part about all of this came when the girl, in a display of pure professionalism, was bad mouthing both teams for THEIR mistake at the front desk as I was leaving with the remainder of the team. Yes.Somehow, in her world, she was completely not at fault for her complete lack of communication skills. People are apparently supposed to remain ever vigilant to make up for her managing flaws. Of course, our captain had to initiate contact to reschedule, and she made absolutely no apology for the mix-up. I was on three teams this past season, and it seemed like every week, something new was going wrong ranging from horrible officiating to lackadaisical administration. Do yourself a favor and save up for ice hockey or pray that other roller rinks open up. The Anaheim Ducks should feel ashamed to have this place representing them. read more
