My 8 year old son attended summer camp at Etnies and had an absolute blast! First off what an incredible facility! We're so lucky to live nearby this amazing skate park. The weekly camp consists of a variety of fun games, activities, obstacle courses, skills training, and contests that kids love to participate in. On their last day they even had a water balloon fight followed by an ice cream party. Everyday is a different theme which makes it super exciting for all attendees. And to top it off, lunch is included from places like Jersey Mike's, Chipotle, Cane's and Ballpark Pizza. The camp is incredibly well organized by a really fun group of energetic and fun instructors who make everyone feel comfortable at whatever level they may be. I have to mention one specific instructor who helped my son achieve his goal. Shane was extremely patient and encouraging and helped my son build up the confidence he needed in order to overcome his fear. Shane must've gone down the ramp with my son 50 times during the week and when my son finally was able to do it on his own, Shane celebrated with him. I can't think of a better way for kids to spend their summer than by actively enjoying the outdoors, spending time around other skaters and being away from electronic devices. We will definitely be signing up for more days of camp! read more

Wonderful local skate park!! We signed our son up for the preschool skate camp put on by the city and the instructors and park are top notch. It gets a bit hot up in Lake Forest (sometimes up to 100°) so we opted for camp on the earlier part of the summer season. read more

We love this place. Great staff, great music, great VIBES!! Kids learn at their own pace and everyone around is always super encouraging. I was worried about falls, etc but with the right pads on they learn how to fall so they don't get hurt. My son has made lifelong friends here and we are always so happy with the Summer camp every year. They get lunch, snacks, Gatorade and a trip to the local board shop. 100% recommend and tell everyone about Etnies! read more

5/5 facility: Cool space for kids to stumble & fall to after school or in wknd. Pun intended. It's just their own space. We've been coming since our son was in kindergarten and he is now 9. The staff is incredibly amazing. They are kind to the little ones and helpful mentors to the older ones. It feels more like a family than a place of business. It really is a community center and what all should strive to be. The place is very clean as well. 5/5 Group classes: 1 word: Brandon. He's phenomenal. We had taken a private lesson before and it just didn't help at all. It's kind of hit-or-miss. It's a crapshoot depending on who you get. My son hit a plateau skateboarding for about a year with no real Improvement.. Then a parent recommended the group classes with Brandon. She stated how her son learned so much in the short period of time. Fast forward today, and we will be doing our third of a series of four classes. Brandon is absolutely amazing with the kids. Despite having done this for so long & being so experienced, he still has the patience if a day 1. And it's reasonably priced. As of January, 2018 it was I believe $75 for 4 classes. 4/5 staff: The only area in need of improvement is the supervision of cursing and poor sportsmanship. I understand they do say something when it's brought to their attention and the can't be everywhere at once. However, there should be a zero tolerance policy for kids that are completely disrespectful or not following the rules repeatedly. I noticed they give a couple Bad Apple rotten spoiled entitled disrespectful kids lots of chances when they shouldn't. However, for the most part there's great kids here and a great atmosphere. PS. If you have little ones, I would bring them in the Daytime. Nighttime tends to bring an older & rowdy crowd. read more

I've been taking my son to the skate park for the past 10 years and i have always loved it, the staff has always been friendly with him and helped him out every time he had gotten hurt and will definitely continue! all of the kids that skate there are great, he's made a ton of friends. This is not really a Skate "park" but more of an outdoor skating facility. By that I mean if you're not skating you can't really be there at all (more on that later). I'm not a skater but had taken my lids there to check it out. The skating area is looks nice and is much larger than the Volcom park in Costa Mesa. There is a $15/annual fee and you must sign a waiver to use the park. There is a strict no scooter policy, only skate and penny boards. In addition, I was told that since I wasn't skating I could not be inside the park at all, not even to watch my kids or provide them instruction. Due to this policy I left because I didn't want to leave my elementary school age kids inside the park while I sit outside and not be able to really see them. Even the Anaheim rinks has space for non-skaters to watch the skaters. This place seems to be a really great place for skaters, so 5 star to that, but not a great place for parents to take their young skaters, hence the 3 star rating. read more

The park is gated and must check in to enter. = SAFE. 100% FAMILY FRIENDLY My kids kai and titi started skating there ages 8 and 2years of age. The skate club for younger kids is wonderful. ERIC who is one of the skate club coaches is amazing. Not only does he rip himself but knows how to teach the fundamentals of skating. I review as a parent who has a nearly 7 year old boy whose one of many passions is skateboarding. Etnies is a find. If you live in Lake Forest you, as a Resident, are entitled to a FREE membership for every member of the household. If you are NOT a resident of Lake Forest you can purchase a yearly membership for the exorbitant price of $5.00 per person! You tell me where you can go to a world class venue, of any sport that costs you $5.00 a year to use? The requirements are few you must bring the following - Skateboard, Helmet - with strap, Elbow and Knee guards are mandatory, for ALL. I attempt to put wrist guards on the kid, sometimes it works...others...well not so lucky. If you do not have the above safety gear you will NOT be permitted to enter the park, period. Including if you just want to take photos in the park, you MUST wear a helmet with a strap! Absolutely NO exceptions. If you have smaller kids, under 8 years of age, an Adult must stay, remain physically present, during the ENTIRE duration of their kids skate time. Bring a folding chair, cooler and enjoy. If you are going to bring your kids and other under 18 youths with you, you better call first and find out if you can sign the City Release of Liability Form for ALL the kids. Hate for you to show up and have to turn around and leave. Skateboards and In-line skates only - NO Razors or Bikes....the Attorneys for the City of Lake Forest had to put the Kibosh on those. They offer lessons, reasonable. Skate Camps, call for those details but real reasonable and they normally include lunch as well as other stuff. They have a small retail sales area,fairly priced but limited in brands & selection. The items are QUALITY, no crap is sold there. So the pricing is not cheap it is fair. Snack foods and drinks are sold as well, I bring my own food and drink and there is a picnic area as well. What I find real refreshing and has re instilled some hope for humanity is that all these participants get along so well. There are no bullies, or other certified Assholes, big or small. They DO NOT put up with it, if you won't play nice....see ya! There are little kids who are literally just learning to walk all the way to seasoned professionals, or want to be Pros, skateboarding every day. EVERY skill level and ALL ages, all co-mingling without a single issue or problem. It seems that everyone just gets along and real well. The little ones stay with the little ones and so on up the 'Food Chain' of age and experience. I have been there when there are preteens that out perform the adults, and the adults are trying to do what the kids have just done...and so on. It really is refreshing to see a mishmash of people...kids to adults, boys, girls, men and women all doing the same thing in varying degrees of competency and all getting along REAL well. Go, enjoy if you skateboard or just end up watching...it is a blast!! Remember - Folding chair, sunglasses, cooler, drinks - (Sorry no booze is allowed in the Park), and something to munch on. This review is for the summer camp only. It was my son's first time doing this camp, and he's definitely not a beginner skater. He LOVES being out. We were expecting some basic lessons during the week-long camp, as stated in the community catalog, but there was none. I was there watching one full day. Apparently anyone can go in and skate for free, so not sure why the camp charges $195. For lunch each day? (which by the way, was pizza one day, hot dog or burger, sandwich from Jimmy John's, or Chick-fil-A nuggets). One kid just went out and bought his own lunch. Well, my son did get a painted skateboard deck (but you need to buy tracks and grip). read more

What a delightful little place out in the middle of a far drive from Long Beach, CA, where I was staying. I was only there once and I was a little scared to drive into Orange County to be honest, but everyone here was so nice and proved that there are good people living in the OC. It's not all like those poor lost souls on Laguna Beach who are young and don't know any better. I'm actually digging the helmet rule because it means more space for beginners. I was blown away by so much awesome skateboarding from so many nice people in Los Angeles, but sometimes it's just nice to be around people totally beginning. There was a really cool little kid who I hope I didn't discourage from teaching. He was working so hard to help me get better. He kept giving me little things to do and tried to figure out why I wasn't committing on hitting a transition or going down certain hips. I feel like I kept failing, but I think he'll be fine, he had good character and I hope he knows it was partly my trucks which were too loose. Now that they're tightened everything's easier. There were a lot of really awesome guys who came for the evening sessions so it doesn't lack great skateboarding. It's just that these boiling hot afternoons in the sun tend to be times for beginners. Cultural note: The OC probably produces the greatest skaters in the world because they must go through a literal trial by fire. It is so hot there as to be hostile to human life forms so for every OC skater you see 20 have died in his or her place. They are borne out of the flames of hot hot heat. I was wearing a tank top and shorts and rubbing ice all over my face but there were people skating in flannel and heavy jeans or tight black skinny jeans that would've made me pass out from heatstroke. I kept seeing this happen over and over in SoCal. I kind of like this trend although I'm not genetically made for it. I was expectring people to rip off their clothes without provocation so it was cool that people kept their clothes on so as not to distract any heterosexual women trying to get into skateboarding. read more

Facility is nice and well maintained, but the parking lot is ridiculously small. Maybe 15 spaces? I am very surprised the city approved this lot. I came for an Askate event and had to park in the red zone and cross my fingers I didn't get a ticket or towed -- or that my parking there would not block an emergency vehicle. I have a special needs child so dropping off was not an option. Perhaps you can park at the Home Depot across the busy parkway and find a way to walk over with all your gear and kids? Awesome skate park! The lessons are great. Both of my guys started with the beginner lessons and are skating by lesson two. Super reasonable price, too. $65 for four one hour lessons. The skate park is huge and has something for everyone. My beginners feel comfortable enough to come here to skate and hang out. read more

Etnies is one of my favorite skateparks of all time everyone there is very nice and not jerk like if you are a beginner then you should start in the small bowl and if your advanced then the big bowl they have good street obstacles for street skaters and good bowls for bowl skaters the one thing is that there is no scootering or biking. read more

I live in Huntington Beach. I choose to drive to lake forest to hit up Etnies Skate park. It's so big and what I like the most is that it has a big piece of flat ground where a beginner like me can practice ollies and not get in the way of the more advanced skaters. read more

Etnies is a huge part of my sons life. From contests, to 4th of July parade, monthly movie and pizza nights, various camps, afterschool program on Tues Thurs, it's been a great positive force in his life. Staff is responsive and truly care about the kids. If we've had an issue or vice versa, from the top Scott down to every other worker, they've always been dedicated to making sure Etnies is a good environment for everyone. My kids love this place... But the parking is TERRIBLE. There is only about 8 spots for a CITY PARK. You can skate for free here if you live in Lake forest otherwise it's $5 a year I think... My son has been coming here for the past few months and has liked the challenge of the skating bowls as well as the fact that it hasn't been too crowded. My 5- year old son absolutely loves it here. He had never really skated before and spent a week at camp coming out doing much more than he had when he started. It is true the parking lot is small which is a little annoying but the actual skate park is incredible and is worth the headache.
