Having just had a corporate event at the Thousand Oaks location, this visit unfortunately paled in comparison. The noise level was pretty loud as there is no barrier from the racetrack and the check-in location. The staff was somewhat friendly but didn't make it feel like an "experience" it was more so check in here, go line up over there and you can order food over there. The food selection was limited while we were on site. No wings, no chicken tenders and no chocolate chip cookies. On a recent Saturday morning, we bought a group of three races for 2 kids and purchased those online with credit card. When we arrived shortly after opening we were told it could take up to 90 minutes waiting... PER RACE. We couldn't spend 4 hours due to other commitments so we asked for a refund. They said we'd have to call corporate for that. On Monday. We called the corporate office the following Monday morning. We got through to voice mail only. 3 times on Monday. Twice on Tuesday. Left voice mails. No return call. The following Monday again, left two voice mails. No human answered our calls. No return calls. Unprofessional. Will not return. My review is related to the K1GP series that K1 Speed makes a huge deal about: Starting last year, in order to qualify for the "K1 World Championship" the first step is to race in your local K1 center's GP and finish in the top three in point standings to then qualify for State, the next step to qualify for the K1WC. Unfortunately this made the K1 GPs so popular that they became a victim of their own success and K1 and this location dropped the ball hugely on making this fair for anyone who wanted to race. On the website they tell you it's easy to race for the K1WC, just show up to your local K1 center at 6PM-6:30PM and enter to race. So far my experience this year has been anything but. In January, I showed up at 6PM and did not find out until I get there they were capping it to 30 racers because they did not have a mechanic on site, so they reserve 2 in each row for kart swaps. Ok. The spots filled up and everyone else got turned away including me. You don't find out the limit until you get there, no mention on website or social media. In February, I show up again during the rainstorm with active flash flood warnings. The street was flooded outside. This time the limit was 20 instead of 30. I didn't find out until after I waited in line and got to the counter where they told me it was full. Again, no mention on website or social media that this could happen. I leave frustrated because two months in a row I show up and I don't even get to race and I am at a 40+ point deficit to the leaders, I leave them a bad review on their system. I ended up getting a response from the general manager Timm, and what I find out is just a mix of mismanagement from corporate and the location. The limit was 20 because k1 corporate overbooked the location for parties, and again had no mechanic, but the GP racers again were not aware of this until they get to the location. All they offer me was free entry into the March GP, but as far as points was concerned I was still screwed. This was very frustrating for me because last year I finished in the top three and raced for this location at the K1 CA state championship. I am not sure if corporate is aware of the situation or will do much more to fix it. I did attend and race in the March GP and what I saw was that they did hire a mechanic so that the limit was 36. However fewer than 30 showed up because so many people have been frustrated with their experience that they didn't bother wasting their time and showing up. I commented on their IG posts about this and based on my interaction with the admin it sounded like they wanted to fix this and make it right, but so far i have not heard anything. During the last GP racers were actually able to register before 6PM meaning the spots may fill up before the advertised 6PM-6:30 window. In the past they were strict on this. It is also frustrating how the situation of the points might just turn into who is able to race to the K1 location first and register. The race is no longer on the track, but on the streets and freeways. My championship for the year was decided by this. If the existing points rules continue as they are I likely have no chance to qualify for state again. I was going to race the full season again this year, but after what has happened, I just don't want to give K1 anymore money. If they implemented other rules to balance situations like k1 being forced to limit entries, the hit in points for missing a race is lessened. Calspeed used to use drop scores for their championship, This is a free change that K1 could implement to make it fair for the situation they created especially in February. If they did this one change I would consider racing the rest of the season, but as of now, I do not recommend to anyone to spend their money at K1 or even race in their GP. I am ok with them limiting entries, but at least make it clear on the website or on social media that you may take the time to drive out and show up, and you may not even get to race. If I could give less than 1 star, I would. read more

I planned a guys night, booked in advance and spoke to Jeremy in "sales." The reservation was made for a 5:30-6:30 time slot for two races at a total cost of about $77 a person. Upon our arrival to the facility there was a slow check in process and staff asked us what we had reserved. I immediately felt like they should have been aware of our large reservation that was going to account for nearly a $1000 bill. Our entire group arrived on time at 5:00 pm for checkin as we were instructed. We were checked in and paid with all 11 guys ready to go... I raised a concern when I saw the cost of two races at the track was about 55 dollars and we had just paid 77 each. They informed me this was because we would have track priority and get our race going right away, we were also SUPPOSED to get 3 free pizzas with our race and a "private" room. The reality of our experience was that we didn't start our first race until about 6:30 pm. Which means we waited an hour... during this waiting period they didn't even offer the pizzas that were supposed to be included. We were supposed to be done and out of the race by 6:30. We didn't get out of the building until nearly 8:45 pm... and this was with no pizzas or private room as promised. When I raised concerns to the manager on site he told us he couldn't do anything and we had to speak to our sales person at corporate. It's been 5 business days, I've emailed them 3 times with no reply. I also called and left 3 voicemails... NO RESPONSE NO REPLY. They took us for 30 dollars more per person and did not hold up their end of the contract as outlined in the confirmation email after giving deposit for the races. This place over books their races and takes as much money as they can from customers and then makes them sit and wait without telling them in advance the reservation means nothing. Don't waste your time here with their super inconsistent karts and employees that aren't attentive. Our group has been k1 racers since 2009 with a long history and no reasons to have been throttled down due to being beginners. We did back to back races where we all averaged a second slower on the second go around. The karts were so slow that all you had to do was lift going into the hairpin. After ending the slowest session and taking the checkered flag, the group sat at the pit exit only to be told by an employee to take another cool down lap. Instead of the employee telling us to go take another cool down, he should have been running to open the pit exit. This would have cleared the track quicker to let out the next group. Overall, don't come here if you are experienced driver and just save your money. Luckily this was the last of my races I had bought previously and we as a group won't be coming back. read more

Last night was my sons 8th birthday party that I booked a month ago at k-1 speed in Torrance on Vermont Ave. I knew it from the moment all of us stepped in that this was not going to be what I expected. This was the most expensive and disorganized party I have ever hosted. Everyone was on time yet we didn't race until an hour and a half past our start time. My husband and I started ordering food for all the parents that had been waiting while their kids had nothing to do for an hour and a half. They didn't even clean the tables before we sat down. Horrible. Just terrible. I sent an email and hope a manager calls me ASAP. Save your money. This place is not meant for parties. read more

We recently visited this location in Gardena it was on a Saturday first time I had ever heard about K-1 speed it was my daughters 12th birthday. She was so excited however when we got there of course there was a line once our party arrived we paid for our races. They told us it will be a 2 1/2 hour wait. However prior to that I went to the food section to see the menu no many was available and the attendant that was behind the bar told me that no food was available at that time so because this is my first time at this establishment I assumed they didn't sell food. so while we were checking out paying for oasis the manager came and asked how was our experience so far I reply with sarcasm by saying it would've been great if you guys served food with this long wait. He proceeds and says oh don't worry I just have them cut it back on I was confused. So I can I speak to him away from everybody else so he could explain to me what he meant by he just had them cut it back on so long story short the manager explains to me that on weekends when they have large private parties they cater to the parties first so they could have fresh food for the party that they reserved, in which when I called to ask questions about booking a party they explained that the party had to be eight or more people of course my party was less than that so I didn't book a reservation for a party. Basically guys establishment is trying to maximize their services that's not fair that everyone the visit that place has to pay that $7.95 membership fee and on weekends it's always a long wait Time. In regards to the food I don't think it's fair that if you don't book a big private party basically gone a week and you started to not being able to eat there at that establishment. Of course during a conversation with the manager he didn't understand what I was saying about the food not being available to me because they had a private big party reserved for the weekend. He walked away after we got done communicating about the situation. Later less than 15 minutes I look over at the food section the menus are up and then the manager walked up to me and hand me a water and say I apologize about my demeanor earlier when we were talking but you're right the food should've been available to you guys it's been off way longer than what it should have been. Zero Stars---- It was my family first time coming here and we were all very excited. Let me tell you it will be our first and last. You would assume if you purchased 1 race it would come with the helmet. Nope once you arrive that's a hidden fee they don't tell you once your at the counter. Had an awesome time with my son for his 13th birthday. This was our first time going and it was for a special occasion but you could totally just do this for a fun date night or a last minute fun activity. In addition to the race track, they have a small arcade and ice hockey table. Extra perks are the bar with a pool table. They have private rooms for parties as well. The pizza and nachos were good. When purchasing your entrance fee, yuh also receive a membership and head scarf which is required for your ride. Beware, my husband got hit by another car and the screen on his phone cracked.. so don't take valuables with you on the track. read more

If you are considering getting this place for a birthday party I suggest you RUN save yourself from disappointment and money. I bought a package for my sons birthday for 8 racers which included two races 3 pizzas and 1 hour in the room to eat pizza and cut the cake. They don't let you use the room until you finish the last race so at that point you are supposed to go get everything and decorate the room for the birthday party when all that I supposed to be ready! Lol what? They claim we can't use that room because there is another party in front of us when that want not true lol. The girl that worked them came out with a bullshit excuse as to why there wasn't anyone occupying that room and that if I pay $90 more I can use it for one hour LOL. WOW... NO MUSIC in the room they have a old ass amplifier that didn't work didn't even have Bluetooth LOL. The kind you see at the goodwill and people don't even buy them. Everyone arrived early as I told them to so they can register and race at 3. They didn't call my group until 4:15! Get your shit together K1!!!!! Then when the kids were finally done racing and it was time to eat everyone was hungry the pizzas were not ready!! Wtf!! Had I am not being on top of it before hand we wouldn't have even gotten any pizza because they didn't even have it in the ordering thing for the day which I had completely paid for! So my guests started BUYING food because the kids were so hungry and many guests left. I had never been so embarrassed in a birthday party before. I'm never EVER coming back to this location. I had to tell them to do the award thing for the kids because they weren't on top of anything for the price they charge you would expect great service. When i spoke to the manager he said that they were new to this and that to please excuse them, they should excuse half the bill then since I did not get the service I paid for.... if K1 speed is bold enough to say they offer birthday packages and charge the exuberant amont of money then they should have excellent customer service and hire people that are caring just like they do at SKYZONE. Be warned...showed up at 3pm on a Saturday, was told there would be a 3 and a half hour wait for 3 people. Came back at 6:30pm only to be told they had parties taking up the track until 8pm. I have no idea why the employees weren't honest with us in the first place about being booked until 8pm. On top of that the employees were rude as were the other racers (not blaming the other racers who were probably as upset as we were about the wait.) K1 is very expensive for what you get and racers were extremely micro-managed. The meeting space was fantastic and staff was easy to work with. We enjoyed our food and of course the racing was a thrill! These karts really fly. They are fully electric and accelerate very quickly. We did the three race package which was $65 per person. It's definitely worth the price. It was plenty of racing too. I was tired after the final race. Not too tired to throw a few back at the bar afterwards. Nothing like a few beers after a day long meeting and an exhilarating race event. Went to K1 with my son and some friends. My son just hit 48 inches, so I was excited to have him race! When we got there, they measured my son and he was just over 48 inches, so great! We bought a 2 race package for him and 1 for me. Shortly after, I raced and had a great time! This unfortunately was short lived... My son was called up to race and a few mins into getting into the cars, I was called over to check his height. I said, oh, he's 48 inches, to which I got, yeah, we'll see (kinda rude) and he was walked over to the measuring stick. Of course, he was 48 inches, so they marched him back to the cart and the guy signaled for me to come over. Now I get this is all about safety, so he told me to watch him try and press the peddle down. His bum left the seat a bit, and then he went into how he was a father and he wouldn't let his son ride like this, and I agreed, so we pulled him out and I went to get a refund...this is where I started to think... I got a refund for him and had to pay for 1 race for me, but here is the thing, this was for the kids, not me, and I would have never shelled out $108 for 4 races if he couldn't ride. I would came back when he could of enjoyed it. Instead of testing him for Leg Length, the just measure your height. (this is problem #1). Next, I asked to speak to the manager, so I went and talked to him and he basically said the front desk is to sell tickets based on height, and I said, yeah, well, he is 48 inches, and if he would have went to race first, I would have never raced myself, cause we would have known he couldn't do it...after this, he looked at me and said, well he can race, but I wouldn't as a father... So, he basically made it sound like my fault... Kinda shady business practices. To fix this, have a car out where people can literally sit in it and K1 can check if 48 inches is ok or not, cause not everybody's legs are the same length. My son was very upset his friends went and he couldn't. You need to have this before more people waste money like I did. Very long wait time, slow lines and their restroom was disgusting, I was at this location a week prior and the restroom was not clean and that at 5:30p, this makes me skeptical about how this facility is following COVID safety. Once you've paid an approximate time was given to me and I waited an additional 1hr and a half totally to three hrs to race and I arrived at about 6:30p. My visit to k1 speed was great. All the staff and track crew were friendly and made the experience fun and safe. After my visit I realized I lost my pair of subscription glasses. I called back and one of the supervisors, Melissa, was very helpful. She informed me that my glasses were found and placed in lost & found; since I was unable retrieve them sooner then I had hoped for, Melissa made sure my glasses would be there when I went back for them and even attached my name and number to the case. Thank you again Melissa for being so helpful and accommodating. Overall I had a great time at K1 and plan on visiting again. read more

Been coming here for a while now. But this lady at the counter Elizabeth through me over the top. Instead of greeting you as soon as you approach the counter they have no customer service manners. They need to get basic training. They right away tell you "have you been here before" instead of welcome how are you guys. Another thing. This is our 3rd time attending K1Speed at the Torrance location in the past couple of years, we love it here and so does our team. However, the price that we paid for the team building package did not reflect what we received. after the practice race which all 14 members of our team got to participate, we did the "Ball Challenge Relay", in which only six people got to participate. This left more than half my team very disappointed as the challenge looked like a lot of fun and they all wanted to participate but had to sit out. Next, we did a Pit Crew Challenge, which is just a propped-up cart where you get to take off a single wheel, this was barely an activity, not only that but the tools we were given did not work properly, at one point the K1 Speed employees were taking off the wheels for us as the tools did not work. The activity took a long time due to the broken tool, in this activity, only 8 out of 14 people got to participate (barely.) At this point, we were supposed to do a "Top 12" race but it was only a top eight for some reason, which again meant leaving six people out of participating. All this means that several of our team members got to race only two times. That is not worth $110 per person. As I look at the initial breakdown they sent me, two races during the week are $55 and even three races are $75. Overall it was a very disappointing outing as most of the team did not get to participate in more races. As I mentioned the price paid did not match what was offered or what was promised. I was in contact with a K1Speed Sales Representative named Rin Teeter, Rin failed to explain exactly what the Team building package was. He only sent me the brochure that specifically details the team-building package after I reached out to him a few days after we attended K1 Speed. He told me he was going to reach out to the Manager of this location to get more info and to see what they can do for us but then went radio silent. I wrote back twice looking for updates but he just ignored the follow-up and I haven't received a single response. The last time I heard back from Rin the sales rep was June 15. read more

First time here on a Saturday for only 1 junior driver! Only 1!!! Checked in before 2 pm and was told the wait would be about 1 hr. We decided to stick around and get some lunch at the snack bar they have here. 1 1/2 hr goes by and we go and see that status only to be told , it will be one more hr!! Nice place to spend a good time with family at K1. We ate visiting the area for Christmas and came here to celebrate the holidays. The gentleman at the check in was very professional and nice but person who was directing the race Tony was rude unprofessional and does not have any respect for others and especially kids. He was laughing out of his heart and lungs at kids instead of directing them to the exit while they were lost and dizzy after the race. I think some people need to learn some etiquette and do their job that they are getting paid to do. The safety and dignity of people is not a joke at all. I have grown to love racing at K1 Torrance the past month. It's a fun activity amidst COVID and have come to love the employees there. The only problem I have is with the supervisor at that location, Aubrey. After today's incident with her raising her voice at my boyfriend and telling him biased remarks during a race I am completely offended and infuriated. She clearly had something against him and the things she said was not necessary to the race. She was highly unprofessional and this ill-mannered act just makes me regret spending hundreds of dollars racing here. On that note, I don't feel comfortable racing here with a supervisor that treats customers that way. The other employees are very friendly and kind. I think this review serves both as a warning and as group therapy sharing. My friend asked me and my two sons to go to K1 on 6/11/20. I have been following Covid 19 guidelines (wear mask and social distance). Even though I and my two boys (8 & 13) do not have any underlying conditions, we still feel a responsibility not to get Covid 19 and pass along to someone that has underlying conditions. K1 like a lot of businesses is trying to reopen. They even have a video on thier website saying how they require masks, social distancing, and sanitize all go carts and helmets after each use for your safety. Based on this assurance I treked 20 miles to thier location. Yes, there is a sign on the front door saying masks required. Yes, the staffer, who checks you in was wearing a mask. After signing in (a 15 minute process) we proceeded to the racing area. (Go Karts are electric and appear very cool and fast), Included in the racing area is a food eating section. I get it. If you have 20 minutes to wait for your race then K1 should try to sell you some food. There was another party in the racing area. 5 moms and about 12 kids ages 11 to 16. The kids were not eating and playing video games on their phones. No masks. The moms had ordered some food but clearly done and no masks. Fine. You stay on your side of the waiting area and I will stay on mine. Unfortunately, one mom is racing around trying to corral the kids. She walks right by me (2 ft) and screams for a kid and, yep I feel her spit on my cheek and neck. I know it was completely unintentional but that was enough for me to want to leave. I spoke to the manager (Austin I believe). Explained that the entire group was not wearing maks and that I just got scream spit on me and told him I wanted to to leave. To his credit, he processed a $180 plus refund pretty quickly. And even though he never apologized, he was pleasant enough. When we were leaving, my friend that invited us told one of the moms why we were leaving (they of course rush the cashier when we trying to get a refund). Her response "I refuse to wear a mask!". Enough said. Here is my bottom line. This is america. Live your best life. Be good to each other. If you do not want to wear a mask, go somewhere not requiring a mask. As to K1, they are the more guilty party. They put up a video claiming they are taking Covid 19 seriousy and then they do not enforce the most basic rules they laid out in thier video. In addition, I did not see any cleaning of area at check in after each customer or cleaning of check in computers (at least a dozen people used same mouse with no cleaning). If you believe there is a risk of a second wave or you still take Covid 19 seriously, I would avoid palces like K1 right now. read more

Avoid if possible. Do not book for birthday parties. Went to the Vermont location over the weekend for my little brother's birthday party and not only did they overbook races but it impacted their schedule so they decided to cut my little brother's race short. The race was supposed to start at 2:30pm and my brother and his friends were settled in their karts and ready to go by 2:25pm. By 2:30pm they are starting their race (so they are perfectly on schedule) and I see on the TVs that there are only 10 laps and by the time they are supposed to be done with their race 4 out of the 6 kids had only done 5/6 laps. I confronted them about it and they said that "they were late so they were only able to do 10 laps." Keep in mind you pay for 2 races of 12 laps!!! They were on time and started the race on time so they were not behind on schedule but due to overbooking they decided to cut their race short. It was expensive and we were willing to pay the price but it was not worth it at all. The race was cut short, the kids were given tickets to go to the bar to choose their drinks instead of drinks being settled in the party room, the party room has no decorations (doesn't look like a party room whatsoever), and overall the kids had a good time but couldn't enjoy to the fullest because of the time and laps being cut short. read more
