Last summer, my nephews and I enjoyed music, hot dogs, chips, churros, and sodas. This most recent occasion, the hubby and I had chips, guac, beef and chicken tacos. All made with love as everything was tasty. From the bar I chose to get a ginger ale. The facility is capable of holding small to large events depending on which room of the lodge. The lodge is clean. The stage and lounge area is decorated in Hawaiian decor. Lastly, the Elks members are kind. Just lovely people. 4 stars.

Not only is the venue a beautiful place to be, but the energy of the staff and environment was so peaceful and positive. There is ample parking, so all my guests had a super easy time getting to our event. We had about 300 guests, and everyone fit comfortably inside. Just quietly kicking ass, solving problems and making things happen without needing a parade about it. And Meg from Made by Meg is an absolute delight and brings another whole layer to the experience. The coolest part is that everybody actually works together. There's no weird event-venue chaos where six different people somehow have six different answers. The entire team is cohesive, communicative and seems invested in making your event successful. We've had hundreds of people come through the Library for Sunset Comedy and the response has been incredible!!! If you're considering having an event here, DO IT. They already have some great shows lined up for 2027. The place is big, with a few art centers. The main building is small enough that there is not a bad seat in the house. Parking is so easy and it is free. The staff are all volunteers and they are just great. Make sure you print out your tickets or have them held at will call. They have some nice snacks, but not overloaded. We have seen so many shows there, from the ballet to rock and tribute bands, that are great. We saw the Laurel Canyon Sound there and there were a few bands and they were amazing. You will love this place.

Now that I'm older I've also come to appreciate Torrance Cultural Arts Center as a venue. I've been to several different festivals here such as the Japanese Matsuri Festival and Lunar New Year festival. This spot is perfect for the community to get together and like how each festival is able to have many different booths. I also love how there is a stage area both outside and inside. I've also attended the Torrance Firefighters' Annual Spaghetti Dinner here. This is another great event at this spacious venue. Despite it being quite a popular dinner, there''s plenty of room for all to enjoy an evening out. Torrance Cultural Arts Center is great! However, after reflecting on the entire planning process, I feel future couples deserve transparency before making such a large investment. To start with the positives: the venue itself created a beautiful atmosphere for our wedding, Critic's Choice Catering was loved by our guests, and several setup details, including the welcome table and cake tables, were set up as planned. Many guests complimented the food throughout the evening. Unfortunately, the planning process behind the scenes was extremely stressful and, at times, disappointing due to repeated communication issues, inconsistencies, and preventable mistakes. From the beginning, Kaycie (the founder and coordinator) sold us on the venue by emphasizing that it was "all-inclusive" and offered things other venues did not. During our initial meetings, I specifically asked for an overall quote that included a dinner package so we could determine whether the venue fit within our budget. I trusted her expertise and guidance when she provided us with pricing, and because it fell within our budget, we decided to move forward. Several months later, we discovered that we had actually been quoted for an appetizer package rather than a dinner package. Kaycie stated that we had mentioned possibly bringing in our own catering company, but that was simply a question we asked while exploring options. It was never confirmed that we would be using outside catering. The difference in pricing was substantial, and we felt misled. When we raised our concerns, we were told that we should have noticed the pricing difference and asked more questions before submitting our deposit. As first-time wedding planners, we relied on the expertise we were paying for and expected accurate information from the start. Another concern involved what was actually included with the venue. During our tour, Kaycie proudly showed us a large book of linen options and explained that they offered far more choices than other venues we had visited. Later, we learned that glassware, china, silverware, tables, chairs, linens, and other essentials were not included as we had believed. As people who had never planned a wedding before, we did not know these items would need to be rented separately. We often felt like information presented in person did not align with information later provided through email. For larger weddings, I would strongly encourage couples to get every detail in writing and verify exactly what is and is not included. At one point, we were told, "We have no control over how you read and interpret our literature." As clients relying on the venue's expertise and documentation, that response felt dismissive rather than helpful. One of the biggest disappointments was the seating chart. Kaycie sent me another bride's seating chart as a template and instructed me to follow that format. I did exactly that and even asked her to review it beforehand to make sure everything looked correct. She confirmed it was fine. On the wedding day, however, families were split apart, couples were separated, parents were seated at different tables, and children were not seated with their families. We later learned that she had told some of our guests she could not fully read the chart. Had that concern been communicated beforehand, I would have gladly clarified it or come in myself to ensure it was set up correctly. Instead, one of the most important organizational pieces of the reception was mishandled despite us paying for coordination services and setup assistance. There was also a serious issue involving one of the bartenders, who we later learned was terminated. Multiple guests informed us that he refused to serve drinks unless they tipped him, despite the fact that we paid for bartending services and supplied all of the alcohol ourselves. Guests reported feeling pressured to tip, and one guest was even told, "I have rent to pay," before being asked to send money directly to him. Another guest was left in tears after an uncomfortable interaction. We were also told he attempted to charge for premium tequila shots using tequila that we had personally provided. Several guests commented that drinks were inconsistent and tasted different throughout the evening. I do want to recognize Brendon, the operations manager, who was kind, professional, and genuinely apologetic. He listened to our concerns, acknowledged that these issues should not have happened, and took accountability for the areas where they fell short. His response was the first time we truly felt heard during this process. I understand that no wedding is perfect and that unexpected issues can arise. However, communication, accountability, and professionalism are critical when couples are investing significant time, trust, and money into one of the most important days of their lives.

I do wish however that their drink menu had more options, as it's essentially only a few beers and that was it. They also let you cater your own food which I appreciated. However, the day of event was not great and we did not appreciate the hospitality of the main guy we worked with. The main guy was not kind or helpful and I would not chose to host here again because of him. Besides the tables for guests to sit on which were very dirty and not cleaned of previous food scraps, we only were provided a few tables to put our own food and items on. Considering it's a party rental space I would've expected there to be significantly more tables that we could use for our event. In addition, it was a hot summer day and they only provided us with a few umbrellas after we moved our event to the outdoor space to accommodate common space, leaving our guests hot and uncomfortable. He wasn't kind when we asked for additional tables/umbrellas and he also was extremely rude to me during the party which really bothered me. A couple of friends had given me wine bottles as gifts-a very normal gift to give. And they were clearly gifts and on the gift table, not intended to be drank or used. He aggressively came up to me and told me they can't be there, to which I explained I did not bring them and they are gifts and will be taken home with me and have no intention of opening. He proceeded to continuously tell me to remove them from the property even though I stated multiple times they were gifts and not to be drank. He was rude, unprofessional, and should have not chose to share this with me as I was in the middle of socializing with my guests and by no means wanted to "deal" with the few wine bottle gifts that weren't causing any issues. Overall, the brewery is cool and everybody else was great. But I would not choose to work with them again because of the lead man and encourage him to approach future events with a kinder heart and better professionalism as I imagine manyyy people will receive wine as gifts in the future and it is not right to harass them during their event if so.

Two that immediately stood out to me were "Worthy" and "Loved." Seeing those words instantly put my mind and heart at ease. And because I absolutely love plants, I couldn't help but notice that they were everywhere. At that moment, I knew I was in for something special. My heart was open, and I was ready for the journey ahead. Barbara spoke to the 20+ of us about healing, letting go of the past, and finding our way toward a healthier and more peaceful place. We also spent time meditating, reflecting, and simply being present. It was such a beautiful, heartfelt experience--one that I truly believe you will never forget. The words "MEET ME IN THE DIRT" meant something completely different to me before this experience. I was pleasantly surprised, deeply moved, and genuinely impressed by the entire experience.
